Romance / MEN: Top 5 Signs Your Woman Is Probably Sleeping With Another Man by Crystal70200: 4:45pm On Jun 03, 2016
1. All of a sudden she gets angry or upset about something she has never gotten angry with you about before: This is usually a sign she is comparing you to the new guy. The tendency for her to become extremely judgmental is at an all time high if she has someone to compare you to.

2. She has noticeable cell phone habit changes: when she doesn’t answer Her phone around you, turns the ringtone off or takes longer than usual to call you back. If you have access to her cell phone, check for calls made during odd times or of long duration. You Might find answers If she’s sleeping around.

3. She asks about your schedule more often than usual: This maybe for some reason that she wants to know what time you be home so that she will know what time to sneak and go see the other man, who she might be sleeping around with your notice, so if you see her asking about your schedule more than usual then stalk her and find out what might be wrong.

4. She is unusually defensive: When the woman you are dating starts acting defensive when you ask her about things that concern her then something is wrong and when she starts ignoring you then someone else has her attention. This doesn’t mean she’s sleeping around but it’s a sign that she’s seeing someone else.

5. Spending more time at the office and less quality time with you is a dead giveaway: An Office Romance is still high on the list of the most likely places for someone to begin an affair. If there is a sudden increase of time in the Office you should make a mental note of it and monitor how often it occurs.

Agriculture / Revealed! The Truth Behind The Scarcity Of Tomatoes In Nigeria by Crystal70200: 11:37am On Jun 02, 2016
Just when the nation’s tomato farmers were beginning to reap the rewards of the government’s stopping of the importation of substandard tomato produce, which was costing Nigeria N80bn annually, there comes a plague that is threatening to wipe out tomato farms.

Its devastating effects have prompted Nigeria’s and Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, to suspend production at his recently built tomato processing plant in northern Kano state because of a lack of tomatoes. The culprit is a moth with the biological name tuta absoluta, aka the tomato leafminer, but now generally referred to as the ‘Tomato Ebola’, reflecting its destructive power in comparison to the dreaded Ebola virus.

Tomato Ebola Tuta absoluta is a grey-brown species of moth that is about 7mm long, with the ability to wipe out a farm within days. A female pest can produce up to 260 eggs in 21 days. This reproductive capability, coupled with a lack of expertise concerning its control, were the reasons for its spread and the scale of the devastation. The tomato is the main host plant, but tuta absoluta also attacks other crop plants, including potato and pepper plants. Eight to ten generations can occur in a single year if the conditions are favourable.

The larva attacks the leaves of the tomato plant by feeding on it voraciously, producing large galleries in leaves, and consuming green and ripe fruits, consequently causing up to 100% loss in yield in some farms.

All the available and usual pesticides have been applied to no avail, as the larvae have developed resistance to them, reviving themselves about three hours after being sprayed with pesticides. Eighty per cent of Nigeria’s tomato production has been hit by the plague, which has become widespread and now affects production in six states: Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Plateau, Kaduna and Lagos. Hundreds of hectares of tomato farms have been ravaged, resulting in a scarcity, thereby sky-rocketing the prices in the market. The cost of tomatoes has increased at least five-fold, or 500%, with no sign of slowing down. The current crisis is a huge blow for Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari who has been urging the nation to return to agriculture to minimise the economy’s dependency on petroleum, which is now causing suffering due to the huge decrease in the crude oil market price.

Sports / Sikiratu Yekini Receives Cash And Goods From A Group Of Nigerians by Crystal70200: 2:33pm On May 31, 2016
How Nigerians Helped Abandoned Mother Of Late Football Legend Rashidi Yekini

Late Rashidi Yekini remains Super Eagles's highest goal-scorer with 37 goals in 58 appearances (1984 - 1998). He will be remembered forever for scoring .
Nigeria's first FIFA World Cup goal in Dallas, USA, during the match against Bulgaria on June 21, 1994

His mother, Alhaja Sikiratu Yekini, lost all the support and was abandoned. A Good Samaritan gave the aged lady some money to maintain her small business, but it was barely enough for her to survive.

Some meaningful Nigerians heard this message, pitied the woman and raised funds for her! A bank account was opened on her behalf, and goods were bought for her mini store. Cash was also handed over to her to enable Alhaja Sikiratu Yekini attend to little errands.

A group of Good Samaritans, who were touched by the current status of the mother of the late former Nigerian football star Rashidi Yekini, have raised the sum of N290,000 for the octogenarian in less than 48 hours.

Suraj Tunji Oyewale, a successful chattered accountant based from Lagos, championed a course on his Facebook page for some monetary contribution for Mama Sikiratu Yekini after reading NAIJ.com's previous reports on what the woman has been going through.

"I want to thank all the people who put their hands in their pockets to help me, and I pray that God will be with you all," Mama Sikiratu said amidst tears to NAIJ.com upon receiving the donation.

On his own part, Suraj Tunji Oyewale promised to put Mama Sikiratu Yekini on a monthly pay for the next one year and, therefore, applauded all the people who stood by him to raise funds.

Politics / Dino Malaye Explains Why He Is The Most Fearless And Most Investigated Nigerian by Crystal70200: 2:06pm On May 20, 2016
Senator Dino Malaye has explained why he is basically fearless; after being asked to speak on why he is always in the centre of controversies, the senator had this to say:

The truth is the only one to be afraid of is God. He is the owner of my soul. If everyone keeps quiet in the face of obscurity, and injustice then the word will not be a better place. I fear no soul and my conscience is clear. I have never done government contracts in my life. Whether in states, federal and local government. I have never been in the executive where I manage funds so if I have never been involved in any government transaction, then that is why I am not afraid.

I have six university degrees. If I can't convert that to money, then I am intellectually stagnant, myopic and porous. I serve a God who answers prayers and he said he will grant my heart desires. So whatever my heart desire is to give him a call and He never gives me missed calls. He has been awesome in my life. I had a very lonely background. My parents could not pay my school fees at form 2. I trained myself through secondary school, I trained all my younger brothers and sister. I trained myself through university. I stay in the university then go for Minna and Kano for jobs and come back to school. I'm from a humble background and I am very proud of it.

So you can mentor Nigerians that you can make it from grass to grace. I want to tell Nigerians that you do not need to have a name with a NAFDAC number to be successful in this country. For those who think I am being flamboyant, they haven't seen anything yet.
My business is my business, but I will never do anything illegal.
I have worked as a bus conductor, sold mineral and Kunu, as attendants in filling stations. I have worked in Nickle Sweets in Kano. I worked there for six years. Whenever I am broke in school, I go there and work there all through the night. I bought my JAMB form from being a conductor. It has not been rosy. People always ask questions like what does he do, he is a thief etc. My business is my business. You want me to expose my business so you can destroy it? I am a politician. Whatever I do is my business, but I will never do anything illegal. I was arrested last year alone by Jonathan's administration 14 times.

Politics / Bukola Saraki Speaks On Nigeria's Development And 2019 Presidential Ambition by Crystal70200: 12:54pm On May 17, 2016
It has been a tough year for the Senate president Bukola Saraki. In an exclusive interview with NAIJ.com the senator commented on his alleged ambition for the 2019 presidential race and the development of Nigeria; here is an excerpt from his interview:

About Nigeria's development:
In 55 years a lot of developments have taken place in our country. This is a country that at the time of independence had only two universities, one television station and just about a thousand telephone lines.

Today we have about 100 universities, federal, state and privately owned. There should be about 40 television stations now. Over 60 million telephone lines now exist in the country, and, in 2014, Nigeria was named the largest economy in Africa.

Many of her citizens have led international organisations and the population has grown from just about 60 million to over 170 million, making it the most populated country in Africa.

We have some of the best and most solid financial institutions in Africa. Similarly, one of the greatest industrialists from Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, is a Nigerian. He is also, according to Forbes rating, the richest African.

In addition to that, we have survived a civil war and experienced years of military rule. Today the country is a democratic nation. We have pulled back each time we moved to the edge of the precipice.

For all these, I believe, we have experienced a lot of developments. However, with the available resources, both human and material, we could have been a world giant today. We got independence about the same time with Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. These Asian Tiger nations have taken the world by storm and are now leading global financial and investment capitals.

They have excelled in manufacturing, service and financial sectors. Yet, they are not as endowed in terms of natural and human resources as we are. Let me say that we have realized our problems and we are attending to them.

What this means is that the world should watch out for Nigeria, we are coming and we will still lead the world. I am sure, with sustained democracy and the envisaged pace of development, we will soon get there.

About rumoured 2019 presidential ambition
I have said it on record that the talk of 2019 now when we are yet to deliver on the mandate we received just last May is stupid and ungodly. My focus and attention is on how to ensure that the 8th Senate under my leadership work with our colleagues in the House of Representatives to ensure that we partner with the executive arm to solve the problems of insecurity, unemployment, economic crisis and collapse of national infrastructure.

Celebrities / Meet 12-year-old Nigerian Rapper Who Challenges Olamide To A Contest by Crystal70200: 2:24pm On May 16, 2016
Some people discover their talents at a very unfortunate period of their lives; when they are in hardship. But the same cannot be said of Oluwatobi Akanbi, a 12-year-old rapper who boasts the courage of an adult.

With the traditional Adire outfit on a pair of jeans trousers, the youngster, whose stage name is T-rapper, not just dazzled the teeming audience, but was also spontaneous in some of his remarks.

Master Akanbi, who said that he had been rapping since he was six, also called out the popular award-winning Nigerian artiste Olamide, aka Badoo, stating that he could match the finesse of the 'street' rapper, although his ultimate goal remains having a collabo with the Eyan Mayweather crooner.

Somebody should please alert Olamide, we would love to watch them have a rap battle cheesy

Politics / 7 Challenges Nigerians Will Face As Petrol Deregulation Begins, No 6 Is Sad by Crystal70200: 2:04pm On May 13, 2016
1. Protests The decision to deregulate petrol has torn Nigeria into those for and those against the removal of subsidy. On social media, those who are angry have begun mobilisation for a re-enactment of the 2012 #occupyNigeria which almost claimed the country. An oil refinery. Surprisingly however, most of those who partook in the 2012 edition may not likely be active this time.

2. Increased agitation by organised labour The time has come for the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress to consolidate on their agitation for an increment in the minimum wage of the country’s workers. Currently the minimum wage is N18,000 and labour recently demanded for N56,000, an amount the government says it is still considering.

3. Commendation from IMF, WORLD BANK The duo of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank may have won in the call for Nigeria to carry out full deregulation sector as well as remove subsidy.

4. Sale of refineries Nigeria has four refineries which have gulped billions of dollars in maintenance, yet have not met expectation. It has always been sad news of low output. As reported, Kachikwu says Nigeria is currently speaking with Total, Chevron and Agip to see how a partnership deal could be struck concerning the refineries.

5. Passage of petroleum industry bill With the deregulation of premium motor spirit, the National Assembly could now be motivated to pass the petroleum industry bill to now give total deregulation to the sector.

6. Naira devaluation Did you just say it is not possible? In Nigeria, anything is. After all, President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2015, argued that it was not the best to increase pump price because it would affect other sub-sectors of the economy. He has also constantly argued that there was no serious reason to devalue the naira, but Nigeria is currently facing two-digit inflation and the citizens are not smiling.

7. Delayed economic recovery Though Kachikwu has promised that the price of petrol would stabilise in about six months, many still believe that the economy will take time to recover, especially with a president who believes in ‘slow and steady

Romance / 10 Signs You Are Long Overdue For Marriage by Crystal70200: 2:52pm On May 05, 2016
Below are the signs that say it is high time you got married:
1. When you keep catching the bride’s bouquet
You have probably attended scores of wedding ceremonies where you keep catching the bouquet. You now have enough bouquets in your house that one could easily mistake it for a flower shop. Remember that catching a bouquet means you would be the next bride. This is a big sign you need to get married.

2. When all your friends are married
If you have been consoling yourself with the saying that there is a time for everything, you need serious help. What other time are you looking for when all your mates are married and you do not have friends to hang out with? Do you have to ridicule yourself any further by becoming a big sis to a group of university girls who are considering getting married themselves?

3. When your friends’ children call you aunty
There is no point watching your friends rebuke their kids each time they call you aunty instead of mummy. That is a big sign you are not young and you need to take life more seriously if you have not been doing so before.

4. When you know the order of event by heart
You have attended series of wedding that you do not need to have the order of event for you to know what point they are at the programme. You know what event comes before what and at what time it should be done. You are so good that you notice when the engager makes a mistake and you even make effort to correct her from your seat. Chaii, your matter is a serious one.

5. When you are older than the other members in your single’s forum
At this point, you do not need anyone to remind you that you need to get married. You are probably the oldest member of the single’s forum organized by the church; the other members are people that were in teenagers’ church when you were in adult church.

6. When everyone has given up on you
Parents are known to be relentless when it comes to certain issues. But in your own case, your parents have left you to do things when you want to because they are tired of saying the same thing over and over. At this point, you need to get married.

7. When you start to calculate the time you first saw your period
You become bothered when you start to calculate how old your first born could have been if you had given birth as soon as you started your period, this is a huge sign you should probably go ahead and marry. At this point, you are sure you could have been a grandma at fifty.

8. When you have enough clothes from other people’s wedding
You have attended enough weddings you have a lot of clothes from being a groom’s man or bride’s maid. It could be so bad that you have every shade of color someone else may be considering for his or her own wedding yet you are still single. It becomes embarrassing when you are tired of people asking you when you they would have to buy clothes for your own wedding too. My brother, it is high time you got married.

9. When the position you are vying for requires you to be married
Another sign that says you ought to get married is when you are vying for a position where the eligible candidates are expected to be married. It could be really embarrassing then when you get screened out for not being married.

10. When you stop craving whores and prostitutes
When the whores and prostitutes you visit often become less desirable, it may be a sign you need something deeper than that. That means it is time to get married and build something meaningful out of life.

Romance / 5 Things Women Do To Lure Men Into Marriage by Crystal70200: 1:49pm On May 04, 2016
1. They become obedient
Every man wants to marry a submissive woman; a woman who is hardworking, obedient, prudent and understanding. Most women know these and many more traits are the things men want in the women so they act out all these things. They become a different person entirely and do all they could to please the men. The men in turn, blindly fall for this and choose women that possess all these qualities.

2. They become more religious
In the society now, people believe good-natured people can majorly be found in places of worship. Women know this well and act on it; they become frequent fellowship goer and start to partake in the activities that would make them become more noticeable. Not like there are no good girls in the religious centers, they have simply been infiltrated by those looking forward to getting married. Most men who want to settle down prefer picking their partners from religious groups as they believe they would be good natured and homely. Sadly, most of them are just disillusioned and do not know that it is a coy for the ladies to get married.

3. Getting pregnant
Many ladies trick men into marrying them by becoming pregnant all of a sudden. They might not have planned for it but then the ladies would insist on having the baby and start to share different prophecies about them being warned not to abort. Some innocent men fall prey to this and are forced to marry those women. Six out of every ten men could have married a different person but for the fact that another woman got pregnant for them about that same time.

4. Pretending to be virgins
Women also trick men into marrying them by portraying themselves as being virgins. Men love the idea of getting married to women who are untouched; who have never been defiled for reasons best known to them. So while they must have had lots of fun as bachelors, they still get charmed by the idea of marrying virgins for a change. Ladies use this to work their way into their lives. It is a safe point for them as the men can never ascertain if they are truly virgins until the wedding night.

5. The family’s favorite
Some women also act so nice towards the men’s family such that they become everyone’s favorite. They do this so well that they have advocates in the house who would speak for them even when they are not around. Some ladies plan their ways into the men’s houses by dancing to everyone’s tune and becoming the ideal daughter-in-law in no time.

Celebrities / 10 Nigerian Musicians Who Need To Step Up Their Game This Year by Crystal70200: 3:52pm On Apr 27, 2016
1. Niyola The 30-year-old talented R&B singer has been a bit too quiet all year leaving us with the impression that she is on a hiatus. We wonder who cleared her for this sort of break on the EME management.

2. Waje is a vocal powerhouse any day but she’s been particularly quiet when she shouldn’t, and save for her current appearance on The Voice as a coach there’s only so much she has done all year in terms of releases, collaborations and activities regarding increasing her catalogue.

3. Dr SID Riding on the fame of Surulere from 2014 and the less dominant hit song Kabiyesi in 2015, the Mavin star hasn’t been up to much in 2016 and this leaves us with a disquieting calmness.

4. Omawumi is a super star and we love that she started 2016 on a superb note with the Angelique Kidjo collaboration for Play Na Play. But that’s been all thus far and many believe she should be up to more as this is possibly the turning point in the industry’s history.

5. Vector The year 2015 was splendid for Vector Tha Viper but he’s failed thus far to replicate that form and magic. What this portends is danger in the fact that his riding on the success and acclaim of King Kong will only take him so far.

6. D Prince just needs to sit up and take his music more seriously than he currently is because in the end Don Jazzy is Don Jazzy and for all the producer’s greatness Prince will be appraised on his own regardless of any blood ties. Think of the new Mavin team with Korede Bello and Reekado Banks and let that shed more light on your thought process so you see just how much Prince is lagging behind.

7. W4 Someone needs to check W4’s address and be sure all is well with the young man as well as if he still remembers what it means to be a musician. That’s all.

8. K-Switch The singer needs to get back into the studio and make music. K-Switch needs to make and release and push his music.

9. Naeto-C has had an unusually quiet 2016 and needs to put out several songs or contribute in forms of collaborations to make another major impact in the thriving industry.

10. Ketchup Ketchup has what it takes to shine in the Nigerian music industry, he is not making music or collaborating at a time like this is as good as saying he has called it quits when he has barely even started the race.

Career / Why I Dropped My Degree To Become A Taxi Driver - Abuja-based Female Taxi Driver by Crystal70200: 2:17pm On Apr 26, 2016
History books recorded that Funmilayo Ransom-Kuti, a political campaigner, women's activist and the mother of the legendary musician, Fela Kuti, was the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria.

Today, while some women are afraid of the car steering, others have decided to earn a living in the male-dominated field of taxi drivers. One of such ladies is Delta state born Susan Asakpa.

"I studied Accounting at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I worked in a hotel for about three years. There was nothing new anymore, no
challenge and the salary was stagnant. Later on, my boss called me up and told me that he will be reducing my salary by N10,000. I was
surprised."

"Before then, I have been thinking about what business I can do. I had three business ideas (hair dressing, food and taxi business). I prayed
about them after which I chose this one," the young lady continued.

"I spoke with my dad who happens to be my closest confidant and he quickly got a loan from the bank and bought me this car. He has been so supportive, not a single word of discouragement," she said.

Romance / They Met At A Birthday Party And Magic Happened (photos) by Crystal70200: 9:27am On Apr 07, 2016
In 2011, Elizabeth was invited to a birthday party, where she met Moses. The pair were introduced by a mutual friend who had invited Moses to the party. They became friends and started dating not long after. Elizabeth told NAIJ.com: “Meeting him was one of the best things that happened to me that year. I can only look back and smile because I would always wrap my arms around him like an oak tree.” The couple dated for about four years before they finally got married. Elizabeth is Igbira from Kogi state while Moses is Ijaw from Delta state. For them, coming from different tribes is not a big deal, as love goes beyond language and culture. Elizabeth says: “Being with him sharpens me physically and emotionally. Am grateful to God I started this journey of marriage with my brother, friend, father and husband.” Their wedding days – white and traditional – were very colourful and infused with both cultures. The beautiful photos were taken by Sophotography.

The Nigerian society has a rich culture that pervades every sphere and core of its existence, which is why traditional wedding ceremonies in every region of the nation are a major feast any day. Naturally, Nigerians have many dissimilarities that tend to get in the way of objectivity in most cases, but over time we have morphed into a unified whole regardless of political leanings, tribal boundaries and cultural differences and we owe most of this cohesion to a few activities like football, education and marriage. It’s always a source of joy when two people come together as one and the feeling is eternally sweet.

In view of celebrating our culture and the pervasiveness of traditional weddings in Nigeria, check out these 10 lovely wedding shots:

Politics / Buhari's Panel Explain When Jonathan Can Be Probed by Crystal70200: 11:58am On Mar 28, 2016
Professor Itse Sagay, the chairman of the presidential committee against corruption, has explained under what circumstances the ex-president Goodluck Jonathan could be investigated. He disagreed with the ex-minister of national planning, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman, concerning the blameworthiness of Jonathan in the ongoing anti-corruption cases. Suleiman, who is the spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party ministers’ forum, had said that the former president could not be held liable because no stolen funds had been traced to the former president’s personal bank accounts. He had said: “All these issues of corruption under Jonathan happened between March and April last year. It was purely an election issue. Nobody has traced any money to Jonathan’s account up till now, but money was traced to Abacha’s accounts.” Meanwhile, Sagay claimed that while he could not say if there was a case against the former president or not, Jonathan could be held liable if it could be established that he made unlawful approvals for funds to be paid into other people’s accounts.

Sagay said: “Only the EFCC can say if Jonathan is culpable. Guilt in criminal law requires proof and there must be evidence. So, what I would say is that if a case can be established against Jonathan as regards public funds, then he has a case to answer. “I don’t know if that has been done. I have not seen anybody who says he was given the money by Jonathan himself although one can say that instructions to any institution that public funds should be released to other people for purposes, which those funds were not designated, is in itself a criminal affair. “So, it is not only when money is found on you that you have a case to answer. If you are a person in authority, and you issue directives to people under you, who are keeping public funds like the Governor of the Central Bank, and an illegal order is given to him for the release of funds, that, in itself, will raise a case for Jonathan to answer if in fact he issued such an order.”
