was our strength in production before??...when was that....??...tell me...because i dont remember...

our thing is agriculture nothing else...maybe oyel too...but oyel dont grow...its just there....
We actually produce, atleast compared to the rest of west Africa.
Even the agriculture you are talking about is mostly processed and semi-processed goods like dangote for instance.
Dangote will just open a factory in Morocco, close down his sugar business in Nigeria since it is far more expensive , and then import from morocco into Nigeria.

Solution to your fear of Morocco - EU trade agreement affecting ECOWAS is to insist that Morocco cancels her agreements with the European nations before joining ECOWAS.
They would be stupid to accept that, and Nigeria is smart enough not to insult them that way..

Where is the infrastructure to compete? Don't you get that.
There is no light to produce at the same cost that a Moroccan company will produce the same goods.

Nice comment. The reason why ECOWAS is not progressing is because of the francophone countries. Their financial system is controlled by French central Bank. We need a country like Morocco which will complement Nigeria to drive these french forces away from West African countries. The only problem Nigeria will have with Morroco is the secessionist in the North Africa.
Actually there are concerns by the Nigerian private sector that Morocco is a front for the EU to implement the EPA trade deal that will cripple Nigeria's manufacturing forever.

what are you talking about??....do you have facts??...do you know the statistics.....how can morocco out produce us when they dont have the numbers....??....which morocco products do you know in the markethuh
Numbers ?
lol. You think we are in the 18th century of manual labour?

The best sardines in your markets are from morocco. And some other products especially in foods and drugs.
The reason why we don't have more is because Nigeria has protectionist policies against non-west Africans countries. We don't import in significant amount what we already produce from non-west African countries.
Even west Africans can be bullied to import only a small quota into Nigeria. Ghana recently complained of that.
Make them members of Ecowas and you won't be able to shut them out without making the rest of the aggrieved west Africans neighbours more angrier.

oga the reasons why ECOWAS was formed was foe every member to benefit AT THE SAME TIME. The reason ECOWAS isnt improving is because ONLY ONE COUNTRY IS BENEFITTING THE MOST FROM IT. And whats the benefit? NIGERIANS ARE FREE TO COLONIZE ALL THE COUNTRIES BUT NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND!
Are you a Nigerian?

Are you truly a Biafran.?

Biafrans fear no competition with Moroccans.

Stop being a coward before the Moroccans.

Go out there and slug it out with them.
There is no Biafra in existence.

Biafrans does not dictate national policy or create federal infrastructure to maximize economic output. The government in Abuja warts and all, determine the future of the Igbo people as well as the rest of Nigerians.

well on the brighter side, Nigeria will have no choice but to increase/improve production, infracstructure to counter whatever the morrocans are planning if the govt is wise. In other words Nigeria will now have reasons to improve this country finally!........ But we all know the story. Smh
Well you know the story. The most likely case would be morocco expanding their economy at our expense.

So you are scared of little Morocco.

Pls don't disappoint me my comrade.

The whole of Africa should be integrated economically like EU.

What of supplying Morocco cheaper labour.?
Fucck that shitt.
You negotiate from your own position of strength.
If integration would be bad for your business, then jettison it.
Trump is cancelling the NAFTA(North Atlantic free trade) agreement because he claims it does not favour America. We are not smarter than them.

If Nigeria has the infrastructure to out-produce every other African country like china, then integrate the whole thing and flood those african countries with cheap goods. But we are not china. We are not even Morocco. We have the bigger economy, they have the better infrastructure to beat us to the punch.

Nigeria 'owning' ECOWAS is the reason Ecowas has never achieved anything other than ''ECOMONG soldiers''. We have to have diff super powers for french speaking, and english speaking smaller countries to maki it work!
As opposed to having a major francophone rival whose name is not FRANCE.
Nigeria have benefited from ECOWAS. Our businesses are everywhere, and the citizens in those countries have benefited from the FDI.
Now imagine adding Morocco to the mix, with cheaper goods due to decent infrastructure, better government, and a more stable system than Nigeria, your guess is as good as mine. That would be a trouble for Nigerian businesses and economy.

And they are oil and gas producing too.

ECOWAS has never grown since inception because all other french speaking countries dont really trust NIGERIA countries like BENIN,TOGO GUINEA have populatios of less than 6million each. They fear NIGERIA monopolizing the union. On ther other hand, morroco is also french speaking and almost as rich as Nigeria unlike other ECOWAS countries.
I still don't see how we are benefiting from what you have written.

MORROCO cannot displace NIGERIA in any way unless we let them to. Morroco is the key to accessing the mediterranen sea due to its location. The distance between the morrocan border and spain's is barely about 20km. Infact MORROCO HAS NO ENEMY COUNTRY IN THIS WORLD(besides Israel) everybody wants to be in their good books. They are already key leaders in north africa besides EGYPT, even if they leave north africa, nothing will change their status. They just want to expand their market, and able to stake a claim on their lost territory, SARAWI REPULIC!
Why d you want to access the mediterrean sea? It is not like Nigeria has no means of getting to spain easily.
You want to create an upsurge of Nigerian illegal immigration into Europe.

Turn it down immediately. It is a no-brainer
Nigeria is not developed enough to start competing with morocco. We may have the bigger economy but they have the better system.

So N700m is to the Americans like $700m?

And yet some claim ICT has made the world a global village, forgetting that cave dwellers like you still exist far from the periphery.
Yes, it is. When compared to their respective governments.
America blows more dollars on weaponry than the next 5 countries combined. A major part of that is because they can afford to print as much dollars as they want and the rest of the world will pick up the slack.
Nigeria cannot afford to waste dollars because you don't have enough to begin with.
7OO million Naira is like 700 million dollars when compared to the scale of wealth of the US in dollars.

No! you are definitely very tribal, and that's the only reason you think everyone else swims in your pool; you're only capable of viewing and interpreting everything from the myopic tribal and ethnic point of view, else I cant rationalise how tribe came into this thread.
Piss off. Now you are annoying me, going round in circles.

Maybe the itunes website is also for defence yet it gulps millions of dollars yearly to manage?

Another emotional Igbo man weeping as cursed to do and already bringing his bigotry into a debate of over 4pages yet no contributor had alluded to tribe until we had the misfortune of your vomit.
9 million dollars relative to the US is nothing. It is their currency afterall . It is like 9 million naira relative to Nigeria, give or take.
When you account the cost of labour in America, 9 million is chicken feed.
Comparing it to third world imoprting nation like Nigeria is sad.

First of all, your needless reference to tribe in this case makes you sound very very silly. Its a pain having to accept that Nigerian youths have degenerated to this senseless level tribal foolishness.

Then regarding the 700 million website or portal or whatever it is, I think that is extremely expensive and an over inflated scam; none of the explanations given make any sense so far.
It is not silly.
What could possibly possess a man to defend a 700 million naira scam if not tribal affiliation?
it is not like he is part of the government to create the bias. The only obvious connection is tribe.

We are talking about a ministry with zero functionality right now.
