That's the celebrant.... the kind of feeling you feel after you got the visa.

All burdens taken away from you and you feel like you're on top of the world..... intoxicated with joy.

But in reality, the visa is just the beginning of our worries. We are only better off those that couldn't cross the hurdle because we made it and able to make it to a country where struggling worthwhile.

I was initially denied Visa twice but I got it d 3rd attempt. Determination is d key. My 1st interview was on 1st of April which I was denied. I later re-apply and visited d embassy last month June 10 and was also denied. I wanted giving up but thanks to Slimmy05 who encourage me not to give up. After my 1st attempt I give UK a trial, I applied to about 7 universities in UK but did not get any admission. That's when I know my placenta is in USA. LOL.(in Akin3102 voice.)

Fast forward........
I woke up around 4am wer I lodge, luckly for me a church near d hotel room was having a vigil. Me self dey follow dem pray inside my room. Lol. I finaly Check out around 5am, and got to d embassy 5:17am thinking I am d 1st, oboy people don full embassy.

Here goes my transcript.
Me: Hello Good Morning

ME: Ok... then I did.
VO: typing...... So How did you get to know about this course
ME: I was looking for Universities in United State that offer Masters in Geographic Information Science, so I did my research using Usnews.com, Princetowreview.com and Hotcoursesabroad.com.
VO: nodding... so what course are you going for.
ME: Masters in Geographic Information Science and Cartography
VO: typing..... do you have Bachelor degree?
ME: Yes, Bachelor of Science in Geography and Planning.
VO: nodding.... why do you want to study this course.
ME: Because I have a bright opportunity of working in places Federal Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning or Environmental protection Agency as GIS Analyst and Developer this is because Nigeria is fast growing and becoming more unplanned due to increase in population. Wit my master in GIS I will be able to contribute my quota to the effective planning and disaster prevention of Nigerian using Geospatial Techniques. I will also be able to solve the problem which Nigeria is facing in the Urban planning Sector. (For my mind, I dey think am say today na today bring another question make I scatter am).
VO: looking at me strength in d eyes. Have you been denied before?
ME: Yes
VO: why?
ME: I really don't know, I was given a form 214b, but I guess it was because I did not give enough reason why I choose the school.
VO: Ok... so, what are your reason for choosing Michigan Tech.
ME: I happy when she ask this question course I know say I don catch am.
Em.. (I pulse for 2-3 seconds) Aside from the fact that the school is highly ranked amongst best in Midwest by Princetonreview and also the safest campus in Michigan, There is a research going on by prof. Mike Hyslop on The Application of GIS and Remote sensing for Sustainable Land Management and Planning Development, this Research tallies with my area of interest and during the Skype interview we had, he was quite interested in me joining his team of research.
VO: Really? Why is he Interested in you joining the team.
ME: I boot for like 2-3Sec, He actually told me all continent are full represented in the research team except Africa. As Nigeria being an African country which is fast growing and becoming more unplanned daily.... (Na LIE ooo. Me and Prof no talk ooo)
VO: cut me... Who is sponsoring you
ME: My Dad is going to be sponsoring me
VO: What does he do.
ME: He's is the General Manager of........ Bank and he's also into Real Estate
VO: Do you have any financial Documents to show for it?
ME: Yes, I pass my Statement of Account and Affidavit of Support.
VO: she look through it and pass it back. Also pass me the I-20 and said your Visa as been approved, you can pick it up on Monday.
ME: Thank Very much.

@Ctemi, Medicine is a 2nd degree program in the US as u hv to do a bachelors degree in Premed, or other basic science courses. Medical school is however very difficult to get into as u have to maintain and graduate with a very high GPA. Some schools do not admit non-residents to their program. Most Nigerians that go for their first degrees so that they can do medicine afterwards don't end up being medical doctors. I had about 8 friends in secondary school leave to the US, only one got in. I dont want to discourage u tho.

I am a doctor but studied in Nigeria bt I will advice u go directly to medical school in the Caribbean or Eastern Europe then take the USMLE exams to get into residency which would be quicker and more economical since the final price is working as a doctor in the US. I am going for my masters in Public health bt will switch into a residency program when am through with my exams. Good luck on ur choice tho...

hello house . New to this thread. I have an msc admission from Uni of sunderland but I dont want to go because Uni of Sunderland is a supposed ''low ranked'' university. breezing through posts here, i saw schools like Eastern tennessee uni, FIU etc. I am looking to defer my admission and start to apply for admission for next year to US.
So my question is, Does ranking really count in the US, cuz in the UK thread they made it seem a really big deal

2) I have a US visa, and spent just 5 mins with the guy at the counter and was giving.actually for my sisters grad in columbia. Now i want to start msc admission, will i be denied a visa if i apply to a school that doesnt require TOEFL and SAT? Im working from mon-fri, and if i am to prepare, I HAVE TO QUIT MY JOB, because my dept is a very busy one. Please advice.

what state are you headed?Craiglist is good and bad sometimes,A friend of mine here got his accommodation from craiglist,The young Chinese lady owns the three bedroom town home.She rented two bedroom off,My friend pays 400 every month for his room and 12usd AT&T WiFi..electricity bill is shared between the three bedrooms.Craigslist is cool,but you just have to see what you pay for first..and go along with another person don't go alone.For me,I did not get my accommodation from craiglist.
