This is the problem with the Niger Delta people. Anything you want to do with their land, they ask for money even if it will benefit them. They rather let that land waste away. Sad!

@FirstLadyNaija, come here! Take your time oooo. You post this trash here to drive traffic to your blog that has no useful information on the subject. Give us a useful link not your blog.

You may want to start from the commonest Web search for garri.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garri

There is no food or food ingredients called 'gari' in any of the many Indian cultures. Stop misleading people.

I wish we as a country can look seriously into our standards. Also, we should preach value addition, and not only farming.

@OP, great post!

The strangest thing about African countries is that you will find that import of such foods from any African country is illegal, while Indians, Chinese, Europeans et al can dump whatever foods they do not intend to eat on us with no restrictions. undecided

Our government and their agencies don't care about us. They rather please the foreigners. Then come the importers and consumers of such goods even when we have our.

These guys don't not force these items on us. Our govt and their representatives hardly read the details of any trade deal they sign. Most times, these deals are skewed in favor of the foreign countries.

@world1, pavore9, farmtech, can this thread grace the front page? Who knows? Someone close to relavant agencies may read and channel this injustice appropriately.

What's wrong with Indian Gari? Ayahm not understanding

I guess you're either the importer of this garri or the officer that passed this through the border. Do Indians eat Garri?

People patronizing these goods that we have comparative advantage are part of our problems in this country.

This is sad!

the profit is very small, after all the time, and labor,no wonder, the youths are running away from agriculture

From what the OP post, I can see the profit is above 50% assuming the yield is close to his predictions. What business do you think you can have above 20% profit legally?

Are you aware that profit can be higher if the cassava is processed into garri or other products? Value addition is key in Agric. Don't be lazy!

I just wonder how this wonderful piece was not taken to front page, or since it was posted in December of 2016, there are just few responses.

This shows that even when the OP wrote the bitter truth, we still want the old ways.

If I say what was on my mind now, You might banish me from your thread...Or even deport me to Nigeria smiley

Here is the thing.... U-don't-like- him...Especially when you feel he doesn't regard u as the Queen of England.

>>>Do you Know if he was giving your husband some money for the up keep of the house and you were not aware of it?

>>>Do you know the reason why he was staying in his friend's house?..Do you think he was not dying of shame staying in your house...just look at it this way, his friend was comfortable and settled and he was still finding his feet...Do you think there was any self esteem left in him especially when he knows that you do not like him?
>>>when you were calling the meeting was your husband there? Don't you think what u did was supposed to be what your husband should have done?

I am saying all these Dear because things do change and he might be the one to pick your husband up when it happens....which face are you gonna use to look at him should such situation arises?....His living arrangement was temporary, u should have endured or speak to your husband........I am gonna suggest that in future, try and destroy a bridge when you are 100% sure you won't be crossing over it or in need of it again....

Apt!

It is sad. Such people kill the giving spirit in a person. One time I was crossing an express road and beside me was a blind woman with a little girl as her guide. On attempting to cross, the little girl joined us, but there comes a reckless driver speeding towards us and before we could turn back, the blind lady, who was yet to step out with us, has pulled her girl back out of the road. I was shocked, she just took the girl's hand and disappeared into a crowd.
Since that day, if u claim to be blind, I must be looking at your eyeballs to see it before I dole out my money.

Nigerians abuse everything. Sad, sad, sad!!

She's merely scoping for loose cash to flex with and buy such itinerary that she and her husband has to forfeit due to the harsh recession. Her hubby covers the domestic expenses. So you, OP, are merely her freebie depot.

Sadly, most married women do this. They will tell you every damn bad thing about their hubby/marriage only to get sympathy. If you conduct independent verification you discover it is greed and desire to keep up with the Jones that drives them. I had 2 of them until I discovered the truth.

We need to use our share of the money judiciously before pointing accusing fingers at others.

If this is true, why do most women kill (physically or otherwise ) when the relationship doesn't end at the alter?
Most guys will cry and move one. But women, even if they were the reason for the breakup will fight dirty, and may even make it a generational fight.

Some women have to learn this and learn fast!!

For the some educated youths of this nation to believe that European countries banned Nigerian beans because we no more import rice (or about to stop) from Asian countries (China, Indonesia etc) is the height of it all. Ban on beans even started from the days of Adesina as minister, so is the effort for rice sufficiency!

Sycophants will kill this Kunt3

As painful as this may be for a number of people, I'm incline to side with the governor. Why add to an over bloated govt workforce? We talk about the govt slashing on recurrent expenditure. Sadly, trimming the workforce is one way of achieving that. Still I feel for those who hoped on these jobs, especially in such a difficult time.

Are you for real? Does it occur to you that the teachers or civil servants get peanuts compared to political office holders?

Whenever reasonable people are talking about reducing recurrent expenditure, they are talking about reducing the amount spent on political appointees. Or are you one of them?

I wish most people would get the facts about that useless recruitment before killing the governor.
Its a good thing it has been cancelled because the recruitment was done badly 2yrs ago. There are hundreds of graduates who were given recruitment letters over 2yrs ago without a school given and no salaries paid.
They always hold prayer meetings at the amphi theatre at plaza monthly....ask first and dont condemn.
If anyone is to be blamed for this...Godswill Akpabio and that yeye commisioner of Education at the time.

Was Udom (now ufien) not the SSG when the recruitment was done? Someone I know personally got her appointment letter through Martha Udom's connection. Government should be continuum, not all these eye service.

The way Udom is going, I see him taking Akpabio to court soon.
Agriculture / Re: What Happened To Quail Farming? by curiousmind11: 11:32am On Oct 29, 2016
Sttimmy1:
Hello, great farmers.,I will like to know what happened to Quail eggs and Quail farming in Nigeria, especially the southwest region. I remembered there was a season almost every farmer was obsessed with quail farming, even health practitioners claimed Quail eggs r very beneficial to the human body. Suddenly, I didn't hear anything about quails again. Great farmers, pls educate me on what went wrong. Is there a government restriction to Quail farming, is it a seasonal thing, or is there any religious taboo to Quail. I will like to know, your comments will be highly appreciated. Thanks, and av a great weekend.

Like most things in Naija, it was trending. If you observe, once one person make claims of making money from a particular venture, virtually everyone wants to go into such venture. Such was the case of Quail farming.

Also, the huge health claims may have been exaggerated. So when consumers didn't get the expected effects, consumption dropped.

If you have a Quail farm, be dedicated and focus, you will hammer. Most real farmers, who make a living from farming hardly have time to post online.

Just my layman points of view.
