PoliticsNdigbo Reacts To The Re-arrest Order On Nnamdi Kanu, Says 'it Will Cause Chaos' by CuriousMynd(op): 2:48pm On Mar 31, 2019
The youth wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo says the re-arrest order against Nnamdi Kanu would lead to the destabilization of peace in the region.

Recall that A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the arrest of Kanu after he failed to show up for the continuation of his case. The judge also said the trial would continue despite the absence of Kanu from court, Igbere Tv reports.

The group made reference to the "previous killing and brutalization" of people belonging to the region, which led to an increase in the demand for Biafra after Kanu was released on bail in 2017.

In a statement signed by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, and Okwu Nnabuike, the group's Secretary General, and made available to Igbere Tv, the Ohaneze youth said the arrest order was met with shock and disbelief.

The youth wing of Ohaneze also appealed to President Buhari to intervene and grant "presidential pardon" to Kanu

Read the statement as obtained by Igbere Tv below;

“The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide received the pronouncement and re-arrest order of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by a Federal High Court in Abuja with rude shock and disbelief.

“Weighing the implications of such action, it may destabilise the fragile peace that have returned to the southern part of Nigeria, especially the South-East and South-South after the sad experiences witnessed during his first arrest and subsequently the untimely death of innocent Igbo youth and women that characterized his first arrest and detention.

“And there is no need to escalate the tension already established in the South-East over the menace of herdsmen ravaging parts of Igboland."

PoliticsBREAKING: Gtbank Denies Alleged Take Over Of Its Properties By Innoson Motors by CuriousMynd(op): 11:43am On Mar 30, 2019
JUST IN!!! GTBank Finally Reacts To Alleged Take Over Of Its Properties By Innoson Motors (MUST READ)

Management of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has finally reacted to the alleged take over of its properties by Nigeria's indigenous vehicle production company, Innoson Nigeria Limited.

Igbere TV recalls that, yesterday, news broke on the internet that a Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State has granted Innoson Motors leave to take over the bank’s properties over an alleged N8.7bn debt.

Innoson had claimed that it obtained a writ of FiFa from a Federal High Court in Anambra against GTB to effect the judgment issued by a Federal High Court in Ibadan and upheld by the Supreme Court.

Mr Cornel Osigwe, Head of Corporate Communications of Innoson Nigeria Limited, made the claims in a statement issued on the company's social media pages on Friday.

Writ of FiFa is a leave of court to execute a judgment obtained by a creditor in a legal action for debt or damages by levying same on the property of the debtor. Once obtained, the creditor has legal right to seize and take over any property belonging to the debtor they find sufficient to defray the sum owed them.

The judgement, Igbere TV gathered, was for GTBank to pay the sum of N2.4bn to Innoson with 22 percent interest per annum.

However, Igbere TV learnt that instead of obeying the court order, GTB appealed the judgement at both the Appeal and Supreme Courts.

According to Innosson’s statement, the Supreme Court on February 27, 2019, dismissed the bank's appeal and upheld the earlier decision of both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal.

The judgment debt of N2.4bn, Igbere TV gathered, has an accrued interest of about N6,717,909,849.96 as at today - which results to about N8.7bn in total.

Reacting, however, the bank said that the alleged court order is a judgment against the account of the Nigerian Customs domiciled with GTBank, and not against GTBank as an entity.

The bank, therefore, called on the public to disregard the story.

“The attention of GTBank has been drawn to the purported enforcement of a Judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan at one of its branches in Anambra State.

“GTBank as a law-abiding corporate citizen is taking all necessary legal steps to address this situation and ensure that no illegal or fraudulent execution is carried out,” the statement read.

PoliticsOutrage As APC Moves To Punish Igbos, Says 99.9% Voted Atiku by CuriousMynd(op): 11:04pm On Mar 28, 2019
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says the people of the South-East region are undeserving of any leadership position in the country having voted for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This is coming few weeks after the 2019 general election and few months away from the new political dispensation expected to take off in June

The party's position on Ndigbo, Igbere TV reports, was revealed by its Deputy Spokesman, Yekini Nabena in a media chat with journalists on Thursday.

Igbere TV correspondent who covered the event quoted Nabena as saying that Ndigbo have never gotten what he described as “juicy positions” in the Nigerian politics because according to him, the Igbo people always played themselves out.

The party spokesman said the people of South-East are the most uneducated neophytes when it comes to “playing politics” in Nigeria.

According to him, the Ndigbo are fond of putting all their eggs in one basket.

He cited an ‘example’ where he said the South-East region rejected President Muhammadu Buhari and voted Atiku Abubakar of the PDP. Whereas, Buhari polled over 25 percent votes in 3 out of the 5 South-East states in 2019, Nebana claimed the region cast over 99.9 percent votes for Atiku.

Checks by Igbere TV also showed that In Abia state, Buhari defeated Atiku in all the 5 Local Government Areas of Abia North Senatorial district. APC also won the Senate seat and 2 out of the 3 House of Representatives seats in the area due to the influence and hard work of ex-Governor Orji Uzor Kalu for the ruling party, having come from the region.

“The people of South-East should be blamed for their predicaments because they don’t know how to play politics. They play politics like a one-way thing. They all voted for Atiku in the presidential election. So, now that Atiku lost, what's the way forward for the region?. They shouldn't wail if we fail to recognize them because over 99.9 percent of them followed Atiku.

“They should learn how politics is played especially at the national level. They should play 50-50. If this one didn’t work, the other can work,” Nabena added.

Nigerians React

Nabena’s statement has since been met with criticisms and diverse reactions from Nigerians online.

While some Nigerians on social media identified Buhari as ‘Tribalist’, others accused the APC of practicing sectional politics full of hatred and nepotism.

Here Are Some Comments Gathered By Igbere TV On Social Media

“It is unpatriotic to say that Igbos shot themselves on the leg by voting Atiku. It is undemocratic not to have choice. Even at home identical twins may not like the same thing. Igbos are Nigerians irrespective of who they voted for. Oshiomole himself started with Labour party before abandoning it.” - Oyejinde

“I don't c what positions have to do with with d voting pattern of Igbos in d last elections, It's not right to generalize. In Abia for instance, Orji kalu delivered 4 APC in his own little way.” - Michael

“APC should know that the Igbo man will always thrive no matter the condition. Sideline us, incapacitate us, come for our heads, we'll still find a way to survive, as far as the sun rises; our sons and daughters will be informed of the acts of this government, for reference purposes.” - Fizzy

“This is coming from a ruling party that suppose to unite Nigerians immediately elections are over. God, what is the sin of Nigerians that you have cursed us with this kind of leaders? So if a zone did not vote for you, it has stopped being part of the country?” - Collins

“Another beer parlour slowpoke speaking as a drunkered. Do we also blame Abia where Buhari won convincingly? And this bloody idiot is a party official. What a shame. Nigeria can never progress with this mind set.” - Gift

“Yoruba man with politics of one basket, what does that mean in democracy?” - Ojiofor

“Since Lawan said he will not mind spearheading a constitutional amendment for life presidency, they should also reflect it in their new constitution that any zone that does not give at least 50% votes to the ruling party should forget ministerial appointments since some idiots don't understand the meaning of inclusive governance but remain stuck on their skewed interpretation of 'winner takes all'” - Favour

“APC does not understand the meaning of unity. They play divisive politics and look for excuses. They may regret their actions soon. Are Igbos not Nigerians? Did some Igbo states not vote for APC in Presidential election? What is wrong with APC and sectional/vindictive behavior. I have never seen PDP accuse any tribe or section in this country since 1999.” - Jasmine

“US have told them to use this tenure to unite the country, they are inciting nepotism again, if u will marginalize them allow them to leave. Simple. APC govt is hopeless. One day Buhari and all the idiots supporting this evil will drink sniper” - Ogunjumo

“Smh! Same APC that said Ibo didn't have reps in NASS to make leaders. Now they've, same APC is giving another reason why they shouldn't be considered for a position bla bla bla. Lyk seriously?” - James

PoliticsBuhari Group Calls For Removal Of Chris Akomas From RMAFC by CuriousMynd(op): 11:48am On Mar 27, 2019
The Buhari Support Group in South East, Abia State chapter, has called for the removal of Chief Chris Akomas, a former Deputy Governor of Abia, as Abia State Commissioner nominee at the Federal Revenue, Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) over alleged anti-party activities, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

The group in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, alleged that Akomas is a party (APC) man during the day, and PDP at night.

The letter which was obtained by Igbere TV on Tuesday, was signed by the State Co-ordinator, Hon Nkem Akolam Kalu; and State Secretary, Barr Izuchi Nwakamma.

The group also alleged that Akomas frustrated their efforts at the last general elections by working for the governorship candidate of the opposition PDP, Okezie Ikpeazu against APC’s Uche Ogah.

The BSGSE, therefore, called for the replacement of Akoma’s name with a party faithful, failing which, it may be forced to withdraw its support for the party.

Full Statement,

“We the BUHARI SUPPORT GROUP IN SOUTH EAST, Abia State Chapter, do hereby bring to your notice for action, the issues and challenges currently being encountered by our Great Party in Abia State.

“1. Despite the immense social economic challenges and governance inadequacies being faced by the people of Abia State under the PDP Government, it remains very unfortunate and appalling that some of our Party Leaders are APC during the day and PDP at night. This is not just unhealthy for our Party but an indirect system of destroying the expectations of our people for good governance which APC have vowed to administer.

“2. One of such persons who has covertly sabotaged the efforts of our great party in Abia State is Chief Chris Akomas. He was recently nominated as Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilisation Commission. Abians supported APC because of the quality of candidates we had but few leaders like Chief Akomas truncated our collective efforts at the last elections. Complete hopeless will certain permeate our State if Chief Akomas who wined at night with the PDP government in Abia are left to enjoy political positions under an APC federal government. Sir, it will mean saluting treachery, sabotage and internal party subversion.

“3. A lot of supposed leaders of our party in Abia like Chief Chris Akomas, sold out even before the elections. Some, couldn't win their boots because they were in the pay role of the opposition PDP in that State, hence, reasons why they couldn't win their wards.

“4. It is unfortunate that these same leaders ran to Abuja to secure their way and take up Federal appointments. If such so called leaders, had worked in their wards as APC stakeholders, the result written and manipulated in Abia wouldn't have happened, but those results were manufactured in coalition with these APC supposed leaders like Chief Akomas.

“5. Chief Chris Akomas, has never been a true party member, never supported APC in Abia, never did a single campaign for the party in Abia, known for his romance with the Abia PDP and the State government. How come, his name was forwarded as the Abia Commissioner for the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission?

“6. Chief Chris Akomas, just like his partner, Prince Paul Ikonne, were funded by the PDP State Governor in Abia, during the purchase of the gubernatorial nomination and expression of interest forms. They both were fully paid for, by the State Governor. Paul Ikonne couldn't hide his game with the State PDP, when on the 7th of March 2019, by 8:30pm, he took to the radio in Abia and told Abians to vote PDP instead of APC. This is on record!

“OUR PRAYERS.
1. That you use your good offices as our able and energetic National Chairman, to demand for the undoctored Ward result of Dr. Chris Akomas.

“2. That, the party should withdraw his name from the list as Abia Commissioner for the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

“3. That, per chance, you allow his name to go through for the confirmation in the National Assembly, you have sowed seed of discords within the Abia APC loyalists, who invested their time and resources in mobilizing Abians during the campaigns, hoping for a true change of government, but their dreams and hopes were shattered with the election outcome that was characterized with fraud, manipulations, sabotage and internal subversion.

“4. That, with his name withdrawn from that Commission, and a replacement of the name from those who worked tirelessly for the party, it will strengthened the party in Abia and restore sanity to the party system.

“We trust your show of strength which was the reason APC went this far in 2019 elections.

“We do hope that a speedy action should be taken before the confirmation by the Senate, as we are aware that the State Governor is funding his activities and will do all to pay their way through.

“Thank you our able Chairman, as we await your response.”

PoliticsFinally, Buhari, Oshiomhole Announce Next Senate President by CuriousMynd(op): 11:07am On Mar 26, 2019
The intense politicking among APC Senators-elect as to who becomes the next Senate President may have finally been settled, as the party leadership, Monday night picked the current Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan for the position in the incoming ninth assembly, Igbere TV can report.

Igbere TV reports that the selection came at a meeting President Muhammadu Buhari had with APC Senators-elect at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Lawan, a ranking senator from Yobe state, was the preferred candidate of the APC in 2015, but Bukola Saraki, with the support of the Peoples Democratic Party senators, dribbled the party to emerge senate president, a scenario political analysts say may be replayed if the APC fails to put its house in order.

The meeting, Igbere TV earlier reported, was to strategize on the zoning formula for the leadership positions in the ninth assembly, particularly the upper legislative chamber.

In attendance were the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, APC Senators-elect and 11 serving governors of the party.

The governors were that of Kebbi, Zamfara, Plateau, Jigawa, Kaduna, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Borno, Yobe and Kogi states, while Rochas Okorocha of Imo state was conspicuously absent.

Also in attendance was Ifeanyi Ubah, Young Peoples Party (YPP) Senator-elect, Anambra South district.

Igbere TV earlier reported that Ubah announced his defection to the APC at the meeting which held last night.

The position of the party was announced by its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole in the presence of other Senators-elect, including top contenders for the Senate Presidency position.

A serving senator of the ruling party from Katsina, Bello Mandiya equally confirmed that the APC had picked Lawan to succeed Bukola Saraki.

He also hinted that other contenders have started lobbying for other available positions in the Senate, since the leadership of the party have made known their stance.

Another Senator-elect, while supporting Mandiya’s earlier statement, added that President Buhari is in support of the party’s position.

Igbere TV reports that the ninth assembly is expected to be inaugurated in June, this year.

SOURCE; http://igberetvnews.com/599580/shocker-most-of-the-times-women-cheat-its-mens-faults-lady-says/

A lady on Twitter has blamed infidelity among females on men but Twitter users do not agree with her.

In her tweets sighted by Igbere Tv, the lady said that 85% of the time women cheat, it's because their men made them feel lonely for long periods.

Other users on the micro-blogging platform corrected her, saying that cheating is never the fault of the partner who was cheated on. But some have argued that she was probably employing reverse psychology to show how it is when women are blamed for men's infidelity.

PoliticsAgain, APC Sends Strong Message To Okorocha, Amosun, Others by CuriousMynd(op): 5:29pm On Mar 25, 2019
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says the fate of the suspended Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; and his Ogun State counterpart, Ibikunle Amosun, will be decided by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC), Igbere TV reports.

The position of the party was disclosed by its spokesperson, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Igbere TV recalls that the APC National Working Committee (NEC) at its last meeting, suspended the duo over alleged anti-party activities.

Also suspended were the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani, and the Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu.

At the meeting presided over by the party's National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, the NWC resolved to recommend their expulsion to the NEC, which Igbere TV understands is the highest organ of the party.

The APC spokesperson also revealed that the NWC agreed to issue a query to the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, “over his glaring anti-party activities.”

While justifying the party's decision, Issa-Onilu accused the affected members of not showing any remorse, maintaining that “the situation hasn’t changed.”

PoliticsPDP Wins Bauchi Supplementary Election by CuriousMynd(op):
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Bala Mohammed, has won Saturday’s governorship supplementary election in Bauchi State, Igbere TV can report.

The declaration was made by INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Kyari Mohammed on Sunday, barely 24 hours after the exercise took place.

According to Mohammed, the PDP candidate polled a total of 6,376 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammed Abubakar, who scored 5,117.

Igbere TV reports that Muhammed Abubakar is the incumbent governor of the state. Abubakar is seeking to govern Bauchi for another four years.

Meanwhile, the INEC Returning Officer while announcing the final results, declared that he is in no position to return PDP’s Mohammed as Governor-elect, being that the case involving Tafawa Balewa local government is still in court.

Igbere TV recalls that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja said it would on Monday (March 25) deliver judgment on the controversy surrounding the results from the LGA in the March 9 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had on Monday, March 11, declared as “inconclusive”, outcome of the governorship election in Bauchi State.

Prof. Mohammed, Returning Officer who made the declaration, said that apart from the cancellation of the result from entire Tafawa Balewa LGA because of irregularities, the exercise in some other polling units also suffered the same fate.

“The margin between the winner and opponent is less than the total number of votes cancelled in some polling units.

“By law, since the margin of winner is less than the total number of votes cancelled and registered voters in the areas where the votes have been cancelled, this elections is hereby declared inconclusive,” he said.

Igbere TV had previously reported that PDP’s Bala Mohammed was leading with 469, 512 votes ahead of his closest rival, APC’s Mohammed Abubakar, who came very close with 465, 453 votes before the polls was declared “inconclusive.”

The family of Rejoice Nwaku, ex-girlfriend to Charles Paul, the late graduate of Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic who reportedly committed suicide, has finally reacted to the incident, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Igbere TV had earlier reported that Charles, a graduate of the department of Estate Management, was declared dead after reportedly swallowing substances believed to be ‘snipper’.

He was said to have ended his own life following the heartbreak of breaking up with his girlfriend, Rejoice.

His action has since raised mixed reactions on social media.

His remains has since been buried (same day) due to the strange nature of his death.

The burial was said to have been attended by few of his friends who later took to social media to lay curses on his ex-girlfriend whom they believed contributed to Charles’s sudden death.

Reacting on Saturday night, a member of the girl’s family wrote;

“Charles I’m mad at you for what you’ve done and what you put my sister and our family through, we all loved you for who you were to her and to us. This isn’t the first time you’ve tried to kill yourself for a girl you love, but why make rejoice take the blame for your suicide this time around?

“You weren’t faithful to her but you claimed to love her, you confessed to sleeping with her close friend and even other girls, you weren’t faithful but she forgave you, even though she decided not to put up with your unfaithfulness anymore.

“You made such a rash decision drinking 3 bottles of sniper just because of the text she sent to you, didn’t even wait to talk to her, when you were rushed to the hospital, she had to send 20k to your people for hospital bills, money she doesn’t even have… before you died you told people that she is to be blamed for your death, now on social media people are cussing her out because of you, your family is threatening her, she’s not safe anymore.
charley, you’ve brought her pain, and no one is even giving her a listening ear… you don’t do that to someone you love… I’ve said enough, let me not say anymore.

“Rest In Peace.”

PoliticsMan Arrested By Ude Oko Chukwu For Exposing Electoral Fraud, Regains Freedom by CuriousMynd(op): 9:09pm On Mar 23, 2019
A former Councillor in Ugwufie Ward, Ohafia local government council of Abia State, Hon Ojisi Iro Ogbaja has finally regained freedom days after being arrested by the Police, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Igbere TV learnt that Hon Ogbaja was on Thursday, arrested and detained by men of the Nigeria Police zone 9 headquarters, Umuahia over a petition by the Personal Assistant to the Abia State Deputy Governor, Mr David Iro.

It was gathered that Iro had petitioned the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police to commence a criminal investigation and trial of Ogbaja over the validity of INEC Voter Register used in a case filed against the commission in a court.

Recall that Igbere TV on January 31, 2019 reported that the former councillor had drag the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before a federal high court sitting in Umuahia over alleged irregularities in the commission's Voter Register.

Ogbaja, a resident of Elu-Ugwu Nkporo community in Ohafia LGA said he had observe some irregularities in the INEC Voter Register in about 15 units of Etitama Nkporo in Ndi-Elu Ward.

He said that INEC had fraudulently made use of his picture in other peoples’ voter card, and equally raised the alarm over his inclusion as a voter in the Deputy Governor’s Etitiama Nkporo community, Ndi Elu Ward.

The former councillor, while addressing a press conference on January 27, 2019 equally claimed that INEC was collaborating with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia to rig the last general elections.

He accused the Deputy Governor, Ude Oko Chukwu, of being the mastermind of the whole plan, adding, “this was orchestrated by the commission (INEC) with the view of rigging and undermining the validity of the 2019 general elections.”

Hon Ogbaja, therefore, said he had approached the law court having failed to secure a reasonable explanation from INEC, adding, “despite my complaints, the commission went ahead and published the same list of registered voters during the final publication of voter register in January.”

Reacting, the Nkporo Political Stakeholders Forum said it was an affront to democracy for the PDP to have arrested the former councillor over a matter before the court.

They alleged that the move was an attempt to achieve “cheap political points”, while maintaining that the APC in Abia cannot be intimidated.

Full Statement,

“Nkporo Political Stakeholders Forum and the APC Family in Nkporo deeply appreciate everyone who stood by us on Thursday and Friday during the arrest and detention of our ranking member Hon Iro Ojisi Sunday ( aka Abacha) by men of the Nigerian police zone 9 police headquarters Umuahia over a petition that emanated from the PA to the Deputy Governor Mr David Iro.

“We condemn in strong and unequivocal terms the descent to barbarism and witchhunt in a desperate and despicable attempt to achieve cheap political points.

“It's procedurally an affront to constitutional democracy and rule of law to arrest Hon Abacha (from Elughu Nkporo community in Ndi Etiti Ward) over a matter he brought against INEC before a Court of Competent Jurisdiction (Federal High Court Umuahia) challenging the fraudulent use of his picture, inclusion and Registration as a Voter in the Deputy Governor's Etitiama Nkporo community (Ndi Elu Ward) which is a clear breach of process and INEC guidelines.

“In the said suit, other irregularities like multiple registration of voters, registration of under-age, non-residents and use of still pictures/photographs of various individuals against the direct capturing of images during registration as provided by the laws were fragrantly abused by the petitioner Mr David Iroh and his cohorts.

“In a brazen attempt to sway the course of justice and rule of law, Mr David (a supposed lawyer) petitioned the AIG zone 9 for a criminal charge against Hon Iro Ojisi on the validity of the INEC Voters Register annexed to the suit pending in the federal high court Umuahia.

“One wonders what could be the Locus of David Iro for petitioning the AIG to commence a criminal investigation and Trial against Hon Ojisi on the validity of INEC Voters Register used in a case filed against INEC. Is David better placed to question and challenge the validity of INEC property attached as Evidence in a suit pending in court against INEC than INEC itself and the Court of competent jurisdiction?. The petitioner is not a Party and does not represent INEC who has already appeared in Court through their legal team to defend the commission, the matter was between INEC and Hon Ojisi and the Voters Register attached belongs to INEC as a property, it's common sense that INEC reserves the natural right to challenge the source and validity of her voters register tendered in court. The Court also has the natural right to ascertain the validity of the voters register brought before His Lordship and should takes necessary measures to investigate the source and validity in the event that the authenticity of the document is brought to question, where does David as a lawyer come into this picture ?...this is the latest version of being a meddlesome interloper. His Lordship must hear this.

“Hon Ojisi was arrested on Thursday evening around 7pm and by Friday afternoon, arrangements had been completed and perfected to arraign him in an Umuahia Magistrate Court for a criminal offence of forgery in less than 24 hours after his arrest. Its obvious that no thorough investigation into a criminal offence of this magnitude could be achieved in less than 24 hrs. The speed and hasty conclusion preceding this arraignment was very suspicious and designed to achieve the some untoward machinations of the masterminds and sponsors of the petition against Hon Ojisi.

“It was ridiculous to find people like John Okocha (PDP Chairman Ohafia LGA) in court yesterday waiting to watch as the plot to dump Abacha in Afara prison unveiled.

“...and to their greatest chagrin, we watched them bury their ugly faces in utter shame.

“Its never a crime to belong to APC anywhere in Nigeria...this persecution and political witch hunt of APC members by PDP in Nkporo must certainly stop one day.

“We are undeterred and no amount of victimization can alter our resolve to remain in APC...its all about our #NextLevel interest in Nkporo.”

CrimeLesson Teacher Defiles 13-Year-Old Student In Lagos, Says She Seduced Him by CuriousMynd(op): 1:34pm On Mar 23, 2019
Lesson teacher defiles 13-year-old pupil, says victim seduced him

The police in Lagos have arrested a 30-year-old teacher, Charles Munroe, for allegedly defiling a Senior Secondary School one pupil he was giving extramural education.

Although Munroe admitted to having sex with the 13-year-old girl, he claimed it was consensual and that the victim seduced him.

City Round learnt that the girl’s mother had employed Munroe sometime in August 2018 to be teaching her daughter in their residence at Ajangbadi area of the state.

Munroe was said to have gone to the girl’s school on January 16, 2019 and asked her to follow him to his house on the pretence that he wanted to show her something.

On getting to the house, the teacher reportedly had sex with her forcefully and threatened to kill her if she disclosed what happened to her parents.

Our correspondent gathered that about one month later, on February 19, Munroe repeated the act after he allegedly lured the girl out of the class on the pretext that he wanted to give her a textbook.

It was learnt that the girl’s mother observed that she was nervous, prompting the woman to prod her into telling the truth. She was said to have opened up to her mother after much pestering.

The case was consequently reported at the Okokomaiko Police Division and the teacher was arrested.

The girl told the police that she followed Munroe home based on the trust she had in him, adding that she never thought he could molest her.

She said, “Mr. Munroe teaches my mum’s friend’s children. Through my mum’s friend, she started giving me private lessons in August 2018. In January this year, he visited me in the school and asked me if I had a boyfriend. I told him I did not have. He came the second time and told me he wanted to be my boyfriend. I told him I was not interested.

“On January 16, he came to my school again and asked me to follow him home to see something. Being my lesson teacher, I agreed to follow him. I never thought he could think of having sex with me. I wanted to shout, but he covered my mouth. When he was done, he threatened to kill me if I told my parents about it. I was scared and didn’t tell them.

“On the second occasion, he came to my school and told me that there was a textbook he wanted me to read. He took me to a place and asked me to remove my clothes. When I refused, he forcefully had sex with me.”

But Munroe, who hails from Abia State, claimed that the sex was consensual.

The teacher stated that he and the girl had become close over time during which she allegedly made amorous advances to him.

He said he rejected the overtures and that it led to a disagreement, adding that he later succumbed to “let peace reign.”

Munroe stated, “I am a graduate and I have been teaching for some years now. I was engaged to give private lessons to the girl at home. We both became close in the process and she shared her burdens with me. In all honesty, she told me she was 15 years old. On February 19, she visited me as she normally did. She had wanted me to be with her even when I resisted.

“At a point, my refusal caused a serious disagreement between us. I succumbed to her advances to let peace reign. We had sex based on her consent. I never knew before now that she was still a child under the law and was not capable of giving consent. The first one took place in my house. I asked her several times if she had a boyfriend just to discourage her from being close to me.”

A police prosecutor, Inspector Ben Emuerhi, subsequently brought Munroe before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ogba on one count of defilement.

The charge read, “That you, Charles Munroe, between January 16, 2019 and February 19, 2019 at Ajangbadi, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully defile a 13-year-old girl, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The presiding magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Hamzat, did not take the teacher’s plea.

She granted a remand application filed by the police, asking that the defendant be kept in the Kirikiri prison.

The magistrate directed that a copy of the case file be sent to the Directorate of the Public Prosecutions for legal advice and adjourned the matter till May 2, 2019.

CrimeUNIZIK Student Found Dead Behind Anambra Govt House; Pants, Eyes Missing by CuriousMynd(op): 8:26am On Mar 23, 2019
A 300-level female student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, was on Friday found dead, Igbere TV has learnt.

She was identified simply as Pauline.

Igbere TV gathered that her eyes and underwear were missing from the corpse Friday afternoon.

Her corpse was reportedly found at the Commissioners’ Quarters behind the Anambra State Government House.

A resident of the area, who does not want his name mentioned, said, “The corpse of the 300 level student of the university was dropped by the roadside around Commissioners’ Quarters by an unknown car.

“The true cause of her death has not been ascertained, but the corpse has been taken away by the police.

“She was found dead without her underwear and eyes at a junction before Demonstration Primary and Secondary School, Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka, close to GRA Phase 3 Agu Awka, a suburb of the state capital.

“This is one in many deaths recorded among students of the university. My advice is for these girls to be mindful of the kind of men they go out with; they should be mindful of these men in flashy cars in town because all that glitters is not gold.”

The Anambra State division of the Nigeria Police has since confirmed the story to newsmen.

Politics[UPDATED]: How Davido’s Uncle, Adeleke Defeated APC’s Oyetola at Osun Tribunal by CuriousMynd(op):
The Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the 2018 governorship election in the state, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Senator Adeleke, who represents Osun West in the Senate, is Uncle to Nigeria’s Music Star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

Igbere TV reports that the Tribunal sitting in Abuja, held that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, were not validly returned.

The Tribunal made the declaration on Friday after dismissing a preliminary objection against the petition of the PDP and Senator Adeleke, challenging the September 2018 governorship election in the state.

Igbere TV gathered that the preliminary objection was filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the election, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The three defendants — APC, Gboyega, INEC claimed that the petition of the PDP and its candidate was incompetent and the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to hear it.

Igbere TV, however, learnt that Justice Obiora Obi who is a member of the three-man Tribunal, while delivering a ruling on the preliminary objection, held that the petition was competent.

He also stated that the Tribunal has the jurisdiction to hear and determine it.

Obi held that there was merit in the appeal filed by the PDP and Senator Adeleke, adding that the declaration and return of Governor Oyetola by INEC was null and void.

He, thereafter, declared Adeleke as the winner of the election and duly elected governor of the state.

Igbere TV reports that the tribunal also held that the Certificate of Return issued to Governor Oyetola be withdrawn and that a fresh one should be issued to Senator Adeleke of the PDP, having fulfilled the conditions of the law.

It said the petitioner scored the lawful majority votes at the election while the rerun held in the seven cancelled units were null and void and of no electoral effect.

Igbere TV recalls that the PDP and its candidate, Adeleke had approached the Tribunal to challenge the declaration of Gboyega Oyetola of the APC as the winner of the September 22, 2018 election by INEC.

PoliticsOgah Denies Collecting Money From Ikpeazu, Vows To Retrieve His “stolen Mandate” by CuriousMynd(op): 3:22pm On Mar 22, 2019
Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in Abia, Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has denied receiving money from Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to forgo his plan of filing a suit against him at the Governorship Election Tribunal, Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Igbere TV learnt that there's been a rumoured report (not on Igbere TV) that Ikpeazu had settled Ogah with some money as part of a “post-election settlement deal” allegedly entered into earlier.

However, in a statement personally signed by Uche Ogah on Thursday, he said he was still going to challenge the outcome of the March 9 guber poll, insisting that it was no election but a “charade”.

In the statement, which was made available to Igbere TV on Friday, the governorship candidate maintained that his party, APC has since rejected the results and called for cancellation of same, even before the polls were concluded.

Ogah said he was still consulting with stakeholders on whether to approach the election tribunal or not, but, however, insisted that not filing a suit at the end does not mean he has compromised.

Full Statement,

“My attention has been drawn to news making the round that the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has paid me some money as part of a post-election settlement deal so that I can jettison plans to file a suit against him at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. This is not tue.

“I have also heard that the Governor has said in various fora that I was the singular reason he has not performed well in his about-to-end-first-term. This, according to him, was due to the pre-election suit I instituted against him between 2015 and 2017 which challenged his eligibility to be candidate of the PDP for the Abia State governorship election in 2015. It may be recalled that when we followed up the matter to the Supreme Court and the Court entered judgment for him, we congratulated him. We also put that episode behind us and moved on.

“In 2019, I stood election as the governorship candidate of the APC. It is general knowledge that what happened on 9th March 2019 was no election. It was rather a charade. The so called election in Abia state was marred with unimaginable irregularities. We have since rejected the results and have called for the cancellation of same or at best, for it to be declared inconclusive as was done in other places. Instead, INEC chose to ignore us for reasons that have long emerged after the unfortunate manipulation of the results.

“Consequently, I have continued to consult stakeholders on the next line of action. If for any reason I decide not to go to the tribunal, it is not because I had been given money. I am priceless. I can never be bought. I never came into politics because I am poor or that I want to make money. I am only motivated by my vision for the state and my interest to develop and move it away from stagnancy and reposition the state for a greater future. Going to the tribunal will not entirely be my decision alone. If I do not file a petition as a candidate, our party must. There is, however, little or nothing I can do if my party, the APC, decides to approach the Tribunal and seek redress that will return victory to us. I am a party man and will respect any party decision in this regard.

“I want to reiterate my love for Abia state. Our beloved State deserves the best. If we become like our neighbour-states that are speedily progressing in very many facets of governance indices, it won’t be a bad idea. One is surprised that the blames for these leadership failures in our state could be heaped on me. My resort to courts for redress signifies my love for the rule of law and due process. I am not like those that trample on the rights of Abians via bad leadership and mindless looting of our common patrimony in the state; I rather, represent a leadership that seeks to hearken to their urgent call for better service and development of our State.
Our journey may be delayed but it must surely materialize. We are not losing hope. God will keep His promise that Abia will be free and under our leadership.

“Based on the foregoing, it is evident that Dr Ikpeazu has not offered or given me any dime to look the other way and allow him pillage our state or usurp my victory. Even though we can undoubtedly make sacrifices for our God's own state if and when there is need to, no one should take advantage of that. Our disposition for peace is never a sign of weakness or taken as a lack of courage. No one individual is greater than Abia State.

“We urge our teeming supporters to remain calm and not be discouraged. They should disregard the fake news being dished out against my person simply to dampen their spirit or kill their resolve to stand by light over darkness. Those who never wished us well believe they will achieve this through misinformation and character assassination. May we be guided by the promises of our ever loving God in 1 Corinthians 16:13, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong" and Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you".

PoliticsFG Closes Case Against Suspended CJN, Onnoghen by CuriousMynd(op): 6:07pm On Mar 21, 2019
BREAKING: FG Closes Case Against Suspended CJN, Onnoghen

The Federal Government on Thursday closed its case of ‘false and non-declaration of assets’ charges preferred against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Igbere TV can authoritatively report.

Although, the prosecution (FG) led by Aliyu Umar had proposed to call six witnesses to prove its case against the defendant (CJN), Igbere TV, however, gathered that it closed its case after calling three of them.

Umar announced his decision to close the prosecution’s case after the third witness, Ifeoma Okeagbue, an official of Standard Chartered Bank, concluded her testimony.

The prosecuting counsel said he had chosen to offer to the defence team the rest of his proposed witnesses, three of them, who were not called by the prosecution.

But the lead defence counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, rejected the offer.

He then sought the permission of the three-man bench led by its Chairman, Danladi Umar, to consult with the defendant who was seated in the dock.

After a brief interaction with the suspended CJN, Awomolo announced that Onnoghen had opted to file a no-case submission, implying that the defence will contend that the prosecution has failed to make a case against the defendant and there will not be any need for the suspended CJN to enter his defence.

CrimeNigerian Shot Dead With His Female Companion In South Africa; NUSA Statement by CuriousMynd(op): 2:22am On May 16, 2018
Another Nigerian citizen Mr Francis Ochuba from Ngodo Umunneochi Local Government area in Abia State, was brutally gunned down alongside his female companion in Johannesburg.

This is coming hours after we report about the killing of Chidi Ibebuike, a native of Uturu Okigwe, Abia State who was shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen on Sunday, 13th of May, 2018. His car was subsequently snatched by the assailants.

Below is a statement signed by Honourable Habib Miller, the National Publicity Secretary, Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA);
It is with a heavy heart and a resounding outcry for justice once again that we announce the killing of 2 Nigerians from Abia state in a space of 8 days.

Mr Francis Ochuba who hails from Ngodo Umunneochi Local Government area in Abia State was callously gunned down on the 5th of May, 2018 alongside his estate agent who is a female South African as they visited the tenant occupying his property for collection of rent in the central of Johannesburg.

Mr Chidi Ibebuike who is a native of Uturu Okigwe , Abia State was also shot dead at the entrance of his place of abode in Hazyview Mpumalanga on Sunday the 13th of May, 2018. His car was subsequently snatched by yet to be identified gunmen. The Chairman of Nigerian union in the Province Mr Amadi in company of other compatriots have reported the incidence to Hazyview police station and investigation is underway.

Before the recent untimely demise of the two Nigerians mentioned above, the last known incident of a Nigerian National killed was that of Mr Ebuka Clement who was set ablaze in Rustenburg, Northwest South Africa on the 21st of April, 2018.

It is important to note that a violent group in Rustenburg have given Nigerians in the Northwest province a quit or be killed notice. Since January, when the threat was proclaimed, there has been numerous cases of Nigerians kidnapped and a ransom remitted to abductors before they are liberated. Mr Desmond who is a native of Niger Delta whose loved ones couldn’t afford to pay the ransom requested by his abductors was inhumanely killed. Further more there has been reports of 8 cars belonging to Nigerians burnt.

Ransacking of houses occupied by Nigerians. Molestation leading to injuries. Looting of Nigerian owned businesses with impunity at every opportunity they get and there are numerous other threats to life that are being directed towards Nigerians on a daily basis throughout the Republic that calls for utmost concern.

The aforementioned prompted 14 Nigerians to protest lack of protection from the South African police. In a sane community, one would expect a positive reaction from the police whose prior onus is protection of lives and properties and in this case hope that they would alleviate or completely abolish the menace. Instead the protesters were arrested and have been in detention since the 21st of January , 2018 while the Policemen who terminated the life of a 27 year old Nigerian Citizen Mr Ebuka Okori in January, 2018 in Durban Kwazulu Natal South Africa untimely have been released on bail. As at the time of writing this report, Nigerians in the aforesaid vicinity still live in fear of the aforesaid.

The incessant and extra judicial killing of Nigerians in South Africa is however a stark contrast to the general goodwill, protection, conducive environment and halcyon days South Africans and their businesses enjoy in Nigeria. There have been no record of looting of South African businesses in Nigeria. While South African companies transfer billions of dollars in profit made from doing business in Nigeria back home to happy families with appropriate protection from our force , Nigerians are sending body bags of murdered bread winners back home to dejected families. Lots of Nigerian businesses have been looted with most affected victims not being able to recover from the trauma and bankruptcy the incidents have caused. There have also been cases of South African police joining looters and watching our compatriots get killed when they are supposed to protect all defenseless human beings no matter their Nationality.

The death toll of Nigerians known to have been killed in South Africa since December 2016 till date now amounts to 118 with very few prosecution and no convictions of the offenders. Nigerian lives matters to the Union hence we will keep creating awareness of the injustice we encounter in South Africa. We can’t continue to watch as our people get killed without empathy. People get emotionally attached to animals who are pets and sometimes mourn perpetually after their demise. People even get emotionally attached to material things, houses, cars, phones and feel devastated when they lose them not to talk of a human life. Most of the men killed are bread winners to their families here in South Africa and Nigeria . The untold anguish, hardship, pain and disorientation they suffer is unimaginable and it calls for deeper reflections.

Our Government officials who are supposed to pressurize their South African counterparts on the predicament of killings, harassment and looting of Nigerian businesses claimed it is as a result of the illegalities our compatriots are involved in. It’s unfortunate that such stance is taken to probably cover the helplessness? Or is it the alarming ineptitude of our representatives? The question that comes to mind is , what correlation does collection of rent from One’s property and being a furniture designer has with crime? South Africa is not the only country with Nigerian immigrants but why so much killings in South Africa? The Nigerian Union of South Africa does not condone crime in any form but we ask that whoever is a suspect is charged and dealt with legitimately.

Our advise to the Nigerian government representatives in South Africa is to channel their energy towards eradicating the major complexities Nigerians face in South Africa which is untimely termination of lives , harassment and business looting, instead of causing disunity and hostility amongst our compatriots.

According to the great icon Desmond Tutu_
If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has it’s foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.

So the seeming silence of Nigerian government representatives on the incessant killings can be adjudged to be a silent connivance with the oppressors.

This xenophobic attacks on Nigerians residing in South Africa has gotten out of hand. This is one killing too many and it’s very heartbreaking considering the contribution of Nigeria as a country in extirpating apartheid only for our citizens to be the recipient of similar treatment.

We duly implore all South Africans, young and old to see us as brothers. To curtail the few that’s giving the whole country a bad image. To see beyond xenophobic prejudices that threatens even the so called economic coexistence we share.

Let’s put a lot of value on human lives at all times and let the necessary authorities act where and when it applies.

According to Nelson Mandela_Our daily deeds as ordinary South Africans must produce an actual South African reality that will reinforce humanity's belief in justice, strengthen its confidence in the nobility of the human soul, and sustain all our hopes for a glorious life for all.

Desmond Tutu_In South Africa, we could not have achieved our freedom and just peace without the help of people around the world(most notably Nigeria), who through the use of non-violent means, such as boycotts and divestment, encouraged their governments and other corporate actors to reverse decades-long support for the Apartheid regime.

We call on reputable organizations worldwide with value for lives to please come to our aid since our outcry to our government representatives here in South Africa for protection is met with talks of the imperative of business relationship between both countries at the expense of human lives.

The United Nations General Assembly resolution 51/81 of 12 December 1996 declares that racial discrimination, xenophobia are amongst the most serious violations of human rights in the contemporary world and must be combated by all available means. It also calls upon all States to enact and enforce legislation to prevent and sanction acts of racism and racial discrimination. So we are appealing to the South African government to adhere to this global recommendations in securing the lives of Nigerians and all foreigners within its borders now while it’s still a feasible course of action that will safeguard the brotherliness between both countries.

Signed
