Nigerian queer singer Temmie Ovwasa popularly known as YBNL Princess has revealed why it’s too late to change her sexual orientation, saying that lesbianism is not a phase and that developing interest in a heterosexual male is downgrading, Igbere TV reports. The 24-year-old activist who publicly identifies as queer said this in an Instagram post on Wednesday as she recounted the family pressure that comes with being queer, stating that being a lesbian supersedes being with the opposite sex. “Can’t go from multiple orgasms, genuine concern from my partner, full autonomy because she knows she doesn’t own me and treats me as such to 2 strokes, pregnancy scares and an immature man child who can’t wash his ass or keep a straight woman interested. Dear family, it’s too late,” she said in parts.https://www.instagram.com/p/CSayVCvHhpE/?utm_medium=copy_link YBNL Princess also informed her fans that she will embark on a marital journey with her same-sex partner. Rapper Olamide discovered her in 2016 after she posted samples of her songs on social media. Olamide signed her onto his record label where she thrived as the only female artiste until her exit in December 2020. Nigeria has a Same-Sex Prohibition Act, signed into law in 2014, which prohibits same-sex marriage or public show of same-sex relationships. Defaulters are liable to a jail term of 10 to 14 years. The law drew international condemnation when former resident Goodluck Jonathan signed the bill into law.

Founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Atedo Peterside on Tuesday said the late nationalist Moshood Abiola was not given the chance to deliver on his promise as a change agent, Igbere TV reports. He stated this while discussing national issues with the former director-general, Bureau of Public Service Reforms Joe Abah on Twitter. Abah had first said: “Until we change our Constitution and restructure our governance system, the discontent in the land, the distrust between constituent parts, and the focus on sharing rather than production will continue. It doesn’t matter who comes in 2023, 2027 or 2031, nothing will change.”https://twitter.com/DrJoeAbah/status/1383682413151227911?s=20 Peterside reacted: “But we are unlikely to be able to change the Constitution unless we have a President and Political Party in power that believe in this project. I think that makes who leads us come 2023 doubly important and not the other way around. If you want change then elect a Change Agent.”https://twitter.com/AtedoPeterside/status/1384106929882951687?s=20 Abah responded that Nigeria’s current political system was unlikely to allow a change agent to emerge. Peterside then brought him Abiola into the discourse, describing him as a change agent who had his own resources and was supported by corporate Nigeria. “He gave us hope,” he said. A Twitter user @bio_jibril countered, saying Abiola could not be regarded as a change agent. “You can’t judge a man on what he planned but didn’t get the medium to implement it,” he wrote.https://twitter.com/bio_jibril/status/1384426564574658560?s=20 Then Peterside replied: “The point being made is that MKO was voted for on the basis of the fact that he convinced us that he was the Change Agent that we desired at the time + he came via an existing Party. Nobody said that he delivered on the promised change. We never got a chance to test him on that.”https://twitter.com/AtedoPeterside/status/1384442473540431875?s=20
