Fan's View: Kelechi Iheanacho, A Man In Form

20 hrs 26 mins ago

Zakariya Connary pens the December edition of Fan's View for LCFC.com, providing a supporters' perspective on the form of striker Kelechi Iheanacho...

By Zakariya Connary

Fan's View: A Season To Remember So Far
When I look back at the month of December for Leicester City, one man stands above all others for me. That man is the excellent Kelechi Iheanacho.

It began on the first of the month, when things were not looking good for Leicester against Everton. The Toffees had taken a lead in the 23rd minute through Richarlison. Leicester weren’t creating a great deal and didn’t look at their best. At least this was the case until Brendan Rodgers tried to change things up, bringing in a player who hadn’t played in the Premier League so far this season.

It's the 62nd minute: the substitute's board is held up. No.17 in red, no.14 in green. The game changer has arrived.

Personally, being at the game, there was a warm reception to the return of Iheanacho. This was a new season, a new start.

Immediately, you can see a change in the tempo of the game, and Iheanacho is at the centre of it. He’s quick, constantly trying to link up play. In very fancy fashion at times too. He must’ve done about three back-heeled passes in those first few moments. And only six minutes after he came on, he tasted the first fruits of his labour, gliding a ball across the goal for Jamie Vardy to comfortably slot in. 1-1.

The game went on; a cagey affair but Leicester the better looking of the sides, creating more with the change of shape that was influenced with the Iheanacho substitution.

We're into the fourth minute of added time: Ricardo Pereira tackles, laying it on to Youri Tielemans, who turns around, quickly bringing the ball forward, then sending a through-ball back to Ricardo.

Ricardo picks up the pace. Looking up, he sees the run of Iheanacho and plays a brilliant ball though to him. Now it’s Iheanacho on the edge of the box, picking up the ball with his right foot, then dragging it onto his left. He takes it with
his left and GOAL... until the linesman's flag is up.

We now see the notorious purple of the VAR check up on the screens.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the goal is given! I went mad with joy. I think we all did, I was hugging some random guy I’d never met in my life. Watching the whole team celebrate with Brendan was a special moment. Khun Vichai would’ve loved this.

Over the course of the month, Iheanacho would go on to keep this excellent form. He bagged another goal and an assist in what was a brilliant 4-1 victory over Aston Villa. And with Vardy being out due to the birth of his daughter (congratulations Jamie!), Kelechi also led the line and scored against West Ham United.

Not at all a bad way to end the year, let alone the decade. Going into 2020, I am so excited about where Leicester are going, and hopefully Iheanacho will be a big part of that.

He’s magic you know…

https://www.lcfc.com/news/1554724/fans-view-kelechi-iheanacho-a-man-in-form/featured

Hmm...

I just wonder how much hard currency Iheanacho's agent had to part with to get this unknown mediocre egunje journalist to hype his trash.

This NFF contract is a contract of humiliation and intimidation. The NFF hierarchy is clearly tired of Rohr and want him out of the way so they can predictably bring in a local coach ready to dance to thier evil tunes.

Let them make no mistakes, Gernot Rohr is one of the most wanted coaches on the African continent at the moment. Even Egypt and Morocco reportedly offered Rohr bumper contracts after the WC but he chose to ignore them stick with the SE. If Rohr gets sacked today, he will get an array of juicy contracts to pick from. Far juicier than the 55k pounds that the NFF grudgingly gives him (and even owes him sometimes).

I honestly wish Rohr gets pissed and tears that slave contact in Pinnick's face!. The NFF doesn't deserve him. Ungrateful Nigerian fans don't deserve him either.

And where is Ikouwem Udoh, that overaged fraudster that captained Aigbogun's scandalous U-20 team?. I remember people were clamouring for him to be invited to the SE to Marcelo-rize our left back spot for us.

Great analysis Dr. To me and in my opinion you made a lot of sense. I don't think we need to compare those two tbh. Meanwhile am surprised we have not had a VVD vs Ekong comparison here grin.

VVD vs Ekong? Why, we've done something even more interesting....

Iheanacho vs Mbappe. grin grin

Boy Na nacho matter go finally end you. You are still a student, how come you harbor such bitter hatred for this young man. This is beyond player analysis, even the resident Southgate will never go at Collins and Awaziem the way you go about throwing tantrums about this young man. Take it easy biko, you fit die on top Nacho matter one day.

I expected this. You guys have converted this place to a Nacho worship cult where anybody who dares criticize the god is immediately intimidated into silence by insults, mass cyberbullying and that cliché "jealous hater" tag.

But I assure you, that won't deter me. Bully me and shame me all you want, I will continue to air my views no matter what the majority thinks. Thank God say una no be God.

And Danielnino00, I just found out that the referee awarded a freekick to Leicester for that foul on Nacho. It was Maddison who kicked it out for a goal kick. So you see that the freekick was indeed given. I didn't take notice during the game because this Nacho-Norwich thing was taking all the attention. This shows the goal would have stood had Nacho scored.

Fact is, Ricardo should have just thrown the ball towards an opponent as usually will be done and not to Nacho who thought it was a cue to play on. Norwich were leading amd trying to take advantage of the situation. Nacho was only showing Winners' mentality in trying to get Leicester on the scoreboad.

The Norwich players acted like kids and It is still a shock to me how none of them was sent off for harassing Nacho in that manner especially that Cantwell who obviously went for Nacho's neck. He escaped with a yellow instead. Funny people.

Na Rodgers I just dey look. He better not destroy the confidence Nacho has toiled his ass off to build up till this point. Nacho is a "confidence" player and Rodgers should have known better. He acted very silly with that sub move and it ended up costing him as Leicester failed to win.

Would he has taken off a Maddison or a Vardy if any if those two were mixed up in such like Nacho? Selah.

Anyway, I hope Nacho shows more fire following this incident and put it behind him. Funny how a good section of the biased English Media wanna label Nacho some kind of scapegoat. Hypocrites!

Y'all must think the sun rises and sets on Iheanacho. You really expect Rodgers to pamper Iheanacho at this stage of his carrier because he is a "confidence player"?.

Maybe Rodgers should also wash Kelechi's clothes for him, bathe him, feed him as well as cuddle Iheanacho every time he plays badly in order to protect his *confidence". grin

You guys' level of entitlement is just sickening. If Vardy is picked ahead of Iheanacho, you cry racism. If Iheanacho plays badly, you blame the coach's tactics or his fellow players or the ballboys or the grass or air in the stadium sef. grin

Face the facts mehn. Iheanacho is no longer a baby or a youth player. He is a full professional footballer. Nobody gives you freebies at this stage. If you can't man up, you suffer the consequences.

Leicester city doesn't revolve around Iheanacho. As a matter of fact he looks pretty expendable at this point. If he likes let him keep crying "confidence player".

If Manchester City activates the buyback clause now, we only get to pay £37.5m because the £50m comes if they qualified for Champions League.

As if Man City wants a player that struggles to trap the ball. Keep fooling yourselves!. A couple of cameo appearances mean nothing!. Let Iheanacho play five premier league games this season first before we can rate him.

As it stands, Guardiola won't take Iheanacho even for FREE.

It looks like the switch for Akpom is going to be a waste of time and money

I was about to say the same. Why go for an average striker in the Greek League when we have Osimhen, Dessers, Maja, Onuachu, Okereke, and Iheanacho all jostling for that number 9 spot?. Is Akpom CLEARLY better than any of the above options?.

I agree with you bro, it sure looks like a waste of time.

Rohr's team selection has been generally fair. If Dessers keeps scoring, he will be in the team in March. We also have to look at the form of Maja and maybe Iheanacho.

Onuachu, Dennis and Olayinka would probably be dropped depending on their own form.

Rohr gave an interview lately (aired on Supersport's SE show) in which he stated in no unclear terms that he was focused on developing his team and had "no time for new faces". With Rohr's track record of loyalty to " his boys" this is cause for serious concern.

Have you read the Bible ❓

We understand the new old testament in light of the New.

I haven't seen one verse or phrase in the BIBLE that's homophobic. The rest you talk about is a question of perception.

Leviticus 18: 22: "Thou shalt not sleep with a man as with a woman. IT IS AN ABOMINATION". Mosaic law recommends stoning as a penalty for homosexuality.

If this is not homophobia, what is?

I already told you before that when I say "I am not religious" I mean "I am not a fanatic"

I Told you what I meant by it, but you want me to change the English to how you will understand it. I am not mandated to tell it to you as you want it, but as I see it and as it pertains to me.

And learn the difference. I am not religious, at best, would be, I am agnostic. An agnostic believes in God, but does not believe in the religions like Christianity and such, not to be mistaken for an Atheist, who does not believe in God at all.

I like plenty talk, but I hate when people want me to go round a circle or want to corner me to say things as they want.

You should've just said you're agnostic at first nagrin. That would've explained it all.

But anyway, like I said before, it's your personal business and you owe me no explanation. No vex, na just small social research I dey do so.

What makes sense to you, is subjective. I am not religious, it makes sense to me and I don't need to explain what I mean to someone on the internet, and I will honestly never be able to explain it to anyone.

Liberal Christian seems like a stretch to me, what exactly is a liberal Christian?

I'm a moralist, but not religious.

If you are "not religious", that would mean you do not belong to any religion. And that would automatically make you an atheist. You either believe in the existence of a God or gods, or you don't (unless you're agnostic). If you do believe in God(s), then you are religious, if you don't, then you're an atheist. It's that simple. It totally possible to be an atheist and also have moral standards.

A " liberal Christian " is one who forms his worldview based on a flexible interpretation of the Bible to accommodate social and scientific trends rather than on rigid biblical commandments. For example, Liberal Christians may support gay marriage rights, feminism, evolution e.t.c though these are in direct contradiction with the Bible.

P.S: I realize your religious beliefs is your personal business and I would totally understand if you choose not to further this discussion. I'm just curious that is all.

God is not the religion. Religion is Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, those are religions. When I say I am not religious, I mean I am not a fanatic. So, when I do things I don't base it on the teachings of any religious books for the most part.

I did not say I am an atheist, I just said I am not religious.

Even the Bible made reference to women being submissive, respectful and caring to their husbands while the husband as the head of the house, provides, love and protects her

And that is why I am disgusted by the Bible. The Bible also approves slavery, genocide, homophobia and religious intolerance. No wonder it was used by the white slave master to justify the 400 years of bitter slavery black people suffered in the Americas as well as subjugate, demonize and dominate the black continent.

Former Nigeria U17 international Sani Emmanuel has explained that he had to retire from the game at a young age because of a chronic foot injury.

The My People FC product was awarded the Golden Ball as the Most Valuable Player of the 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup hosted by Nigeria, scoring five goals to help the Golden Eaglets reach the final of the competition, where they lost to a Switzerland team parading AC Milan's Rodríguez, Arsenal's Xhaka and Benfica's Seferovic.

After the World Cup, Emmanuel had successful trials at Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur but saw a dream move to the Premier League fall through
because of work permit issues.

Asked why he gave up football when Chelsea and Lazio wanted to sign him, Emmanuel told Leero Sports News : ''I had problems on my foot, even during the tournament in 2009.

''If you remember, I often came on in the second half because the pain was unbearable.

''After the World Cup, I could not play at all because I had played too much with pain. Then I had to stop my career, even today, I always feel hurt on the front of the foot.''

Emmanuel went on to say that he reached out to several Nigeria internationals for assistance but didn't get a positive response.

''I tried to contact a lot of Nigerian international players, but I never got an answer and it was very difficult to get money.

''I returned to anonymity, without work, without anything. I wanted to set up an academy, but I never managed to get help and I'm still looking for it.''

Emmanuel was taken to Chelsea by Nigerian agent John Shittu, who brokered the deal that took former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel to Stamford Bridge in 2006.

His mentor Prophet T.B Joshua should heal him na. Not those audio healings he shows us on Emmanuel TV everyday.
