sirhamilton: Hello Beautiful people, I'd like to know if LOR must be in the institution/firm of the recommender's letter headed paper While there is no paper requirement for the LOR, I guess the institution/firm letter headed paper will be a worthy option. If it has to be submitted via email, it is greatly advised that the LOR be submitted using the institution/firm email address (e.g xx@yy.edu or yy@zz.org) |

Taiwotasungo: Thanks bro, but how do i send my transcript to them, is it my school or through me?? It will be sent by your school oga mi. You will have to complete a WES application and get a reference number before proceeding with the transcript request from your school. All documents sent to WES must bear your reference number boss mi. There's also an academic records request form available for download on WES website. The transcript will be sent to WES alongside the completed request form. |

Taiwotasungo: Please when applying for WES Evaluation, which is best to use? the WES BASIC or WES ICAP? WES ICAP is the best boss. ( Snazzygirl & Zeezahbee, 3 August, 2015 ) |

benjijosh: Am a 400lvl student in a federal university studying Mathematics here in Nigeria, I am so mean to have my M.Sc in computer science from a reputable university in The United States. Have been hearing and reading a lot of issues about denial of Visa here on NL so i would like if someone could guide me through on how to start processing. I am the last of the 4children in my family, my dad is a retired civil servant (retired Feb. 15) , I have two brothers and one sister, My eldest brother is a civil servant and also own a Business(printing on polythene) and I think he is financially OK, the other one is self-employed. My sister is a teacher in a secondary school. I would love to know the minimum amount for tuition fee and living expenses in any reputable university over there(my dad is retired and yet to receive is gratitude/pension but from the little he saved he can still give 4million Max and my brother can still support with 2million max) i can still afford to pay for my flight and visa and for my exam any exam i must take(profiency in English). The only related person i have there is the sister of my sister's husband. what are steps needed to start processing??
what are the chances of me given visa?
do you think the fund at hand now is enough to see me through for my stay?
is there anyway the govt. there could finance me and i work for them after my studies?
do you know of anu individual/organisation/ company that is capable of financing me and i work for them after my studies?
do you think am being too ambitious, maybe i should just forget studying there?
or US isn't the place for me mayb i should set for Europe(where in Europe)??
Between is there any scholarship for my kind(an first class student currently on 4.63/5.0 scale)
Thanks in anticipation. Baba, you are currently on the right thread. Of course there are a lot scholarship/assistantship opportunities. With this your cgpa, the sky is only a foundation. All you need to do is maintain that cgpa or make it higher when you graduate, checkout schools that conduct research in your area of interest, axe the GRE and TOEFL, construct a very good Statement of Purpose and get your undergrad lecturers to write a cool recommendation letter for you. I will advice you take time to go through some previous parts of the thread (at your leisure) to get yourself acquainted with the whole process. Feel free to ask on the thread if you need clarification about anything, everyone is willing to help (I am a newbie here myself). You don't need to get yourself worked up about approval/denial of visa for now. God will take care of that when the time comes. |

Handsome08: Nice one.will a certificate be issued for taking GRE?If yes,how long does it take to expire before one can use it to apply for admission outside d country? There's actually no certificate given but you will have access to your GRE score report (from the GRE website). The GRE score is valid for 5 years. |

Alhamdulillahi Rabb ‘l’ A’lameen for safe flight and journey mercies. Got to MMIA at about 1pm for my 2:30pm flight. Proceeded for immigration checks and that took less than 10 mins. Then the passport and online booking verification before I proceeded to the counter to get my plane ticket and bag claim. Both bags weighed about 47.5kg (46kg is the limit) but the fine Aunty at the counter told me not to worry about it. She checked my booking and said; I can see you checked in online. I told her it’s actually my first time, that I just felt I should try it out ni. Then she told me that was a very nice thing to do. Collected by ticket and luggage claim, bade my family farewell amidst plenty emotions and proceeded to the boarding area. After all the checks and verification, I proceeded to the plane and the flight took off as scheduled. The inflight entertainment was very dope. We were served twice before we got to Doha. We got to Doha in Qatar around 12am (10pm Nigerian time). No hotel reservation for me, so I had to chill at the airport for my 8hrs lay over. There was free wifi, so I quickly got in touch with some of my ogas to update them. Boarding started for the flight to Houston around 7am Qatar time. The flight took off around 8am after all checks. We were served thrice this time (na 16hrs flight sha). We were given the custom declaration forms on the plane, and I declared all my declarables eh. Plane landed in IAH around 4pm USA time. Immediately I touched down at IAH, I sharply connected to the free wifi (make the wifi nor go dey waste). After then came the CBP screening. The queue wasn’t as long as I expected, spent less than 30 mins there. I got there and handed him my passport and i20. CBP: Oh, I see, you are a student (takes my finger print and photo) Me; Yes sir CBP: Is this your first time? Me: Yes, it is CBP: What are you travelling with/Do you have anything to declare? Me: Passed him my custom declaration form. CPBP: Went through the form, signs/stamps the form and my passport. Then he told me to have a nice semester. I proceeded to claim my bags, took me about 30-45mins before I could get my bag (the thing just dey roll ni, it nor dey tire). Then I proceeded to food/luggage declaration area. A woman attended to me. Her: Good afternoon Me: Good afternoon ma Her: Are you travelling with any food material? Me: I am travelling with fried cassava (passed her my declaration form where I filled in my small garri, egusi, crayfish et al). Her: Fried cassava? Me: yes fried cassava. It’s called garri. Her: You can go. Enjoy your stay in the US. Me : Thank you maam Went out through terminal D to meet one of my friends. I met him on my school webpage. He is a Nigerian but resides in Houston. Very nice guy (May God continue to bless him). He dropped me off at Oga Aadeyi’s place. Oga Aadeyi offered to pick me up at the airport oo, I just say make I nor too stress my boss ni (se I wan even enter two moto at once ni ). I got so comfy at Oga Aadeyi’s that I almost extended my stay in Houston. Chai, oga Aadeyi is too nice abeg. I really appreciate big time boss mi. May God continue to guide your path and protect your ways sir. Oga Aadeyi dropped me off at Houston greyhound station where I took a bus to Louisiana around 1pm USA time. Got to BTR around 7pm. |

Tods: Visa approved 6:30 am yesterday at the Lagos consulate by that tough guy in window 6. Those present there would have noticed I was the first person he approved that morning ( lady on lemon coloured blazers and black skirt) after denying the first 3 people he attended to. He was just dashing out denials like its his wedding invitation, while the female VO beside him was very lenient. I give God all the glory. Transcript loading. Congrats dear... Better days ahead |
