I detest it with a passion cos some Nigerians in Germany are using it to milk people financially. Also there's the scam aspect which you can see yourself.

However, i am still having challenge with the proof of fund, although i have people that really would love to assist me but they are unable to block the money in Germany, they are willing to give me their statement of account as proof. Also for me i have asset in my name that i might be able to present just that they are not physical cash.

Given that i do not have SL/BA can i take this to the embassy because i do not want to pass the opportunity.

When you say you got "an email for appointment to apply" , do you mean you've already joined the waiting list, scaled through preliminary review and now you're to book an appointment?

If you applied on the same digital portal as everyone else, there's no way you would have scaled the PR stage without uploading a BA/SL. So what exactly are we missing here? 🤔

Either ways, in terms of funding, I am a strong opposer of sponsorship letters through third party individuals, this is because I was faced with this before relocating and a lot of Nigerians in Germany will open shop on your head. If you can raise 6 months proof of funds (about N11m) for BA in Germany, you can try your luck, but there have been conflicting reports on this as it seems the embassy may or may not accept it.

That's my own 2 cents. All the best.

Hey guys, does anyone know what they usually expect in a lost degree certificate case? I only have a photocopy with a certified true copy stamp from the institution as they don’t reissue certificates twice. What should I expect in this situation

If you can get a sworn affidavit of lost certificate, I think it would help your case.

Better still, if you can go to the institution and get an OFFICIAL STATEMENT, signed and stamped from the exams and records office, stating that your certificate was reported lost and you couldn't get a new one because the University doesn't reissue certificates, it would really help your case.

This is just my 2 cents. Good luck.

By the way, DSS isn't Nigeria's equivalent of the FBI, they are the equivalent of the Secret Service. Also, they can't actually see anyone's screen or picture unless some steps are taken to monitor persons of interest.

Nobody said the title was incorrect, but rather that it was misleading, there's a difference between both. In fact I was more focused on his own intent than the title itself.

The man is leaving the position to a higher one, while the undertone was that he left it for youths, whereas he's contesting for a higher political office which is the senate.

Besides he was still in the same office till 47 years old, so what does he mean by he's over 40? He has been over 40 since 7 years ago! He will in fact be 49 years old by 2027 when he leaves office.

To me all this is just packaging and political sweet talk.

But he's going to the senate as a higher political office that's why he's leaving the current political office. He still contested and served in office 2 years ago when he was well over 40 years, now he is 47, so this is a bit hypocritical to me 😏

Follow Jiggernappy's advice above 👆🏽 and go with your laminated copy since he had a similar case without any bad experience, but you might have to contend with Mr. Paulinus cos that one likes to scare people unnecessarily... LOL

Either ways, if you have a supplementary copy, yes please take all along with you, but as Jigger said above, nothing to be scared about. I just gave you the official information cos laminated certificates are generally discouraged at the German embassy. So good luck.

I'm confused since the date of arrival is unknown, how can one fill a correct date?

1. You must use a German resident as a reference person. Nigerian residents cannot be your reference person, but anyone in Germany, as long as their status is legal may act as your reference.

2. You are relocating to Germany, so you do not intend to retain a permanent residence outside Germany. Only short term visa can say "yes" but in this case, the answer should be no (please feel free to double-check this information).

3. You need to have a place where you plan to be accommodated and supply the details, even if it's just a hotel or something...

4. Intended length of stay is 1 year, so give an estimated date based on how soon you think you'll leave... For instance, you can calculate a date in 2026 June to June 2027, to make one year, cos waiting period, appointment, visa collection would gulp over 6 months...

As a rule, they don't accept laminated certificates. So try to remove it from the laminates or get a supplementary copy.
