obailala: I was only making an observation, an observation based on some posters on this thread, and several observations I noticed on facebook in the comments of pages where this news was reported.
And just for your info, based on my comments, there is a clear distinction between 'Igbos' and the 'ipob Igbos' I referred to; I wasn't referring to the larger Igbo population, I was only referring to a group of people with a strange mindset.
You will only deal with your pathetic self, infact you have obviously started ruining your mind already without being prompted. Idiotic animal.. You will soon run away from Nairaland just like Obiagelli.. Anu mpama.. We shall see |

omonnakoda: Anywhere this nonsense is vomited it must be refuted. Nigeria started with Regionalism..
Ironsi Stopped it At the last National conference the SW was firmly for resource control the SS and SE sold out
It was embarrassing to watch that brave woman Aniko Briggs take on the North single handedly as her brothers abandoned her to her fate
This is not about resource control. An Ijaw man was in power supported by the SE for 5 years what did he do? He empowered militants like Tompolo while Dieziani looted the country blind. HE had the highest oil revenue in history .What did he do with it?.He failed to clean up Ogoniland. he failed to develop even his own Otuoke. So stop deceiving yourself that this has anything to do with resource control. Why do you yorubas like lying like this? Ironsi only decreed unitary system of government but each region has absolute control of their resources. It was Gowon that started with this nonsense by creation of 12 states. You should stop lying, it's not good. |

The suspicion that there might soon be a price hike is due to the marginal rise in the price of crude at the international market- it is not the FG's fault.
You guys should get a grip on your emotions already. It sucks. So are you saying that rise in the price of crude at the international market will result in the fuel price hike? |

[qhiuote author=tuale4u post=45405989]North Supplied Most of Nigeria Electricity For Many Years Without Much Sabotage. Niger Delta Avengers are bloody Scavengers
We must not 4get the whole Nigeria once depend on Northern Nigeria for most of its electricity. Before the installation of gas turbines in Nigeria, the whole country from south to north depend on Kanji dam for electricity for so many years. We didnt hear of sabotage of d dam. Even today, abt 30% of Nigeria power is still from d North. Should Mabila dam in Taraba state be completed say in 2020 with 3000MW, d contribution of nothern Nigeria to power supply will be atleast 50%.
Kanji Dam was build in 1968 and it was supplying 800MW. The oldest Gas turbine build in Nigeria was Ughelli power station build in 1966 to supply 72MW. Before the year 2000, more than 50% of power source in Nigeria were from the North. Mainly from kanji and Jebba. During this period there were various gas plants which were not fully operational.
Yes i know we niger deltan want resource control. But what dis millitants are doing is crime and not emancipation. They are evil and are against the progress of Niger delta people.
Niger Delta Avengers does not represent the interest of Niger Delta. The shallowness of Niger Delta Avengers is becoming alarming. The truth is dat the average Niger Deltan in d street dont neccessary support sabotage. And this so called millitant does not have the interest of Niger Delta people at heart.
They are just greedy bunch of selfish people who does not care about the overall interest of Niger Delta people.
South South states are loosing billions to lagos because of all this stupidity of a selected few among my people. Almost all d big oil companies have thier headquarter in lagos. Thus our states is losing cooperate tax to lagos.
Many ships dont agree to use warri and portharcourt sea port because of these saboteurs. This is because of high level kidnapping and sea pirates in d region. Most of the ships comming to Nigeria find it difficult to get insurance cover once thier destination is warri or portharcourt. This have futher slow the economy of Niger delta.
it is time our elders, traditional rulers come out bold to condemn d actions of this few saboteurs. i see no wisdom in sabotage and destruction of our ecosystem. We are being myopic, in another 40years when d oil production bcome very low, our people will suffer starvation. We are busy spilling oil on our land by ourselves. what a self destruction!!!
I am from south south. And i am complaining.
I agree that if most of the oil was located in d North, South West or South East there will be no Nigeria by now. I know dat for a fact. But God in his wisdom decided to place d oil among the minority south south. If not the top three tribe Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba would have trample on us mercillessly . Yes I know dat.
But what we have today is d reality. Most of The oil and gas is in our land. For about 50 years now, our oil have been feeding Nigeria. But we must know that Oil is not limitless. it is a non renewable resources. Which means it will finish. The question is how will our children survive in Niger Delta when d oil finish? Which land will they depend on? Is it d land further polluted by dis greedy idiots called millitants? It is time we in d Niger Delta start making strategic agitation.
it is time we agitate for a trust fund for the future of Niger Delta. Niger Delta After Oil Trust Fund. This are d kind of tins we can protest peacefully for. Not blowing pipelines and further increasing our woes. Agitating for pipeline contrats, kick back will not do good to our people. Our agitation must be strategic and development oriented. Not myopic agitation just to fill d picket of criminal few today. That will not help my people in anyway.[/quote]Excuse me, do you have job at all? No offense!! |

asha80: the problem with restructuring is that it has to go through the legislature ( your guess is as good as mine what will happen there)..i dont thing that conference dealt with it That is why these guys are doing what they are doing because they know that it wont see the light of the day if they leave it for NASS because they already know who has tthe majority in the NASS... But we have what is called doctrine of necessity right? Why can't the president use that to call for SNC? We don't want to tell ourselves the truth and that is what is killing us.. |

That is what I have been saying, nobody is talking about this people's demand. Their demand is very easy and inline with what sane minds has been saying. Restructure this country to regionalism or true federalism where laziness and parasitism won't be tolerated rather we keep playing the ostrich and shying away from the main issue. Anything that will bring about restructuring of the country is welcomed by me. |

MORNDEW: Hours ago the internet was awashed with news of Igbos attack on Hausa-Fulani in aba the commercial capital of Abia State. The cause of the attack should not be the point of discussion now but how to stop any form of reprisal attack and how to bring the sitauation to order.
The leaders of the Igbos should release a quick statement condemining the attack as an act of mischief makers and misguded youths and urge our brothers in the North not to retaliate this nonsense as no right thinking Igbo man will attack his fellow Fulani brother or anyone else from other region. They should go ahead to assure the people that normacy has returned to the city and that the people can go about their business as usual.
On behalf of well meaning Igbos, i urge our Northern brothers to see this as misunderstanding between brothers and would be settled immediately. Repriesal attack will not solve the Problem.

omenka: Already was leaving but had to respond to this. If folks chose to sound responsible like this, we can all have reasonable discussions here whether it has to do with criticism or commendation- it doesn't always have to be a mad house where everyone is shouting at the top of their voices and cursing.
Well, the thing is we all have our respective principles in life. Depending on who's judging, they can either be vice or virtue.
There are certain aspects of man's character which cannot be done away with, vis the desire for uniformity and group identity- it is ingrained in our DNA. What however isn't given to us all in equal measure is the power to control and suppress the urge to allow that identity be the major determinant of the judgements we make in life, the power of the mind to make one literally rise above oneself!!
Let me share a brief story with you:
Couple of weeks back I was going to the village from Makurdi with a friend. We stopped along the way at his inlaw's to grab lunch. Done, we got into our car, turned the key but the engine was totally non-responsive. Well, eventually, it came down to a burned out kickstarter. Had to leave the car there and use a public transport to complete the journey while it was being worked on.
In the vehicle we boarded were some Tiv men and some Igede men, my tribesmen (hope this puts to rest all that Omenka is Idoma crap). I understand Tiv a lot and speak it too. One of the Tiv men was narrating an incident of exam malpractice involving an Igede student to his friend (in Tiv language). He was apparently a lecturer and was so furious about what had happened, especially as the case was dropped at the behest of a much more senior staff of the institution who happened to be an Igede man as well!!
At some point, this man's phone rang and he also explained what had happened to the person at the other end of the line, and what official actions he's decided to take- saying he'd go as far as writing the Perm Sec of the ministry of education- he spoke in english this time. Now, this got the Igede guys talking. The fools (while speaking Igede) went on endlessly about how the man is taking the case too far, and that he only seeks to, and insist on holding the student to account because she is not Tiv!!
Can you believe that!!
What had happened didn't matter to them, all that mattered was the tribes of the people involved!! I was disgusted at the things they said (all of which I can't remember) and wondered if we can ever move forward as a nation with such warped mentality.
Now, that is what I believe that poster demands of me, being like those two brothers of mine, because according to her - "ethnicity comes first!"
Back to where we were- when you view what she said at the backdrop of events like this, you'd agree with me it is total madness. I can never be that sort of man.
Indeed, the interest of my people is very important when taking decisions, but I've over the years cultivated the character that makes me ensure that consideration never subsist over logic and reason- ditto religion.
That isn't politics, that is doing what is right. That is who I am, that is who I'll always be. You are not from Benue State. You have been busted so, stop deceiving people here. |
