Good day NLANDERS i was recently offered admission into KOGI STATE UNIVERSITY (KSU). Although i applied for Economics due to the facts that i have good background in Economics and calculations. However, the problem is they offered me Geography and Planning. Initially, I was thinking of ditching the admission, but my mum encouraged me to continue with the admission due to the number of times i wrote jamb.
Please what are employment opportunities available to geographers as i hardly see vacancies with requirements in B.Sc in geography.



I wonder how you will fare in the so called geography you got admitted to study in that ramshackled university in your state? ?

What pain is the chap talking of? Those that have rushed into the University and graduated, how many of them have had jobs? How many had jobs in their 1st,2nd or 3rd year?Take it from someone who has real life experience, if you want something(LAW) seat your a.ss down and work towards it, not settling for lesser alternatives(Religious studies).

No where in my post did I indicate that she should waste her life doing nothing, which I presume you youths do these days, while waiting to retake the exam.She was advised to learn a skill.You are not going to burst into the over-saturated job market with zero skill and a paper certificate and expect to start making money just like that.

From choosing Law to contemplating Islamic studies ! Your cousin paints a picture of the typical Nigerian youth who just craves a University degree even if it's BSc in garri drinking. I doubt if she'll even make it into Law school or manage to graduate from one if she had passed the Post-UTME.

Why the rush into University by the way ? She can learn one of these important skills: Tailoring a.k.a Fashion Designing, Hair Dressing, Event planning e.t.c while waiting to retake the exam next year for Law. She might end up earning her paychecks from the above skills than that paper certificate.
