He was only interested in giving away his money. But strategically giving away money is a full time job. So he resigned his other jobs to do only that. His only job is philanthropy, unlike other billionaires. It is just like, say, Dangote donates his refinery to Nigeria but he's the one running it. They still count any profit he makes as part of his wealth when in actuality it belongs to Nigeria.
