During my days in school, I had thought life will be far better after school but here I am earning 85k/month and that is money that cannot even meet my immediate needs and not to talk of wants and unto other responsibilities.
By age, I'm supposed to have been married but still living in one room which is not advisable to even think of marriage in this condition.
To arrange myself for marriage, I need at least a one bedroom, furnished and comfortable. The yearly rent for that is about 400-450k
Then I am also worried about renewing the rent every year, year and year.
How about catering for the family? Aside rent, feeding, school fees (once married, you begin to reproduce), medical, clothing and so so and so forth.
To live a good life, you need a car for mobility sake as a family.
I can't continue to pay rent. Meaning I need to build a house.
Obviously, the 85k salary is not enough. I need to start a business.
And so many other issues giving me stress and sleepless night.
So my worry is, where would i get the money to do all these with these kind of job i am doing? For years i may not even raise a million naira.
I have seen situations where people no longer able to change clothes just because they now have a family and I'm trying to avoid that by all means.
Factcheck0001: so dem no dey commit crime for civilized countries?
Person wey shoot trump, e tell u say e no get work?
Those 5 Igbos boys that went to Dubai to rob, didn't they know they will b caught?
What about those guys that carry drugs to countries whose punishment for drug is death?
The earlier d better u realize there are dare devils everywhere
You didn't understand what I said. All the things that makes crime to thrive exists in Nigeria that is why crime rate is high. I never said no crime in civilised countries. Come to look at the examples you mentioned. All the people you mentioned are facing the consequences of their actions.
The certainty of being punished if caught is enough reason to deter people from going into crime which would at the long run lead to a reduction in the number of criminals in the society. The emphasis is reduction in the number of criminals, not elimination because crime cannot be completely eliminated in any society.
There are many criminals walking free in Nigeria, that alone encourages others to go into crime. The talk is just have a God father or the money to bribe your way through.
In China, someone was recently executed for stealing public funds. That money if I am not mistaken is not up to what Yaya Bello is alleged to have stollen. People would still steal in China but with great care and caution and you know what so many persons would evaluate the consequences and would decide not to go into it.
Zionmdde: It can never be Nigeria While we all try to cajole our leaders with this, have we thought of the fact that we ourselves are very dangerous human beings? I mean an LGA chairman cannot even try that in his area for up to one week before he goes missing
Our leaders may be bad But sincerely speaking, we are worse
That is not true my brother. What you have said would happen because the institutions of the state like police, judiciary have completely neglected their duties.
If everyone has a job to do and earn a living, very few would think of crime as you have suggested.
If people knows that if you commit a crime, the likelihood of being fished out is like 90% by the government, very few would contemplate crime.
If people knows that punishment is certain once dished out, a very few would contemplate crime.
All of these is in the hands of the government to do. It is the failure of the government to guarantee these things that has made the Nigerian society become very hostile.
DaddyCoool: Sooo, how come we don’t see all these countless Nigerians in UK returning to perform wonders in Nigeria. If u check it is still Nigeria-based rich folks performing the wonders
Lol... They do things, maybe you don't know or have not seen.
Femiairboy: That depends, is this pre tax or post tax? Also where in Nigeria/UK are you living in. Do you have a family? Overall i believe N500K is sufficient in Nigeria, that’s N6M a year. A 3 bedroom apartment in Lagos on average is about N2.3M, you still have about N4M. £2000 might seem like a lot but taxes and rent will eat deep into it.
Lol... Let's assume that 2k is after tax because it's easy to make 2k after tax. Let's also assume the person is single.
Rent would cost about £600.. Feeding about £100 Transportation about 100 pounds Let's now budget £200 charity and extra expenses
Total is £1000
The person now has a balance of £1000 to save.
Let's assume he saves only 800 and spends the other £200 on his family back home.
The 800 he has saved translates to about 1,500,00 (One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) Only. In one year he would have saved 18 million Naira.
The man who earns 500k in Nigeria, even if he saves all his earnings which is impossible, whenever the man in the UK returns he would do things that the man in Nigeria cannot even imagine.
techcorb: This is a dumb comparison, compare jobs with similar pay. For example a caregiver can make at least £4k per month in the UK, in Nigeria max would be #100k.
Lie from the pit of hell! No carer makes 4k a month.
Love56743: If I'm the man I we frustrate the woman it's just a simple matter 300k have solve the matter, i we just meet one strong native doctor, the next day she would use her leg to come back to Nigeria without anything..
My younger brother was diagnosed with HIV when he applied for a stidy visa to canda. Fortunately, he was granted the visa. However he is yet to get health insurance in Canada. I intend traveling there soon and they are asking that I come with his drugs.
Please advise. Can I travel with ARV drugs on his behalf? Are there risks associated?
Please help.
Are they called drugs or medications in Canada. Hope you're giving it the right name. In some climes like UK, drugs are hard substances which are illegal. You could have to do some explanations by just calling a paracetamol a drug
CoronaVirusPro: Your lots are the reason why many have made grace mistakes in the quest to Japa!
Some people are doing far better than people in the UK!
UK is for people who are struggling in Nigeria and have lost hope COMPLETELY.
A bank manager in Nigeria, lives a far better life than all those changing diapers in UK.
You're not correct man! It depends on the purpose of the person who is leaving Nigeria. A person who is single and and hustling in the UK on a minimum wage job would easily save the equivalent of 2million Naira, feed well and still support one or 2 persons in Nigeria. On the other hand, someone who earns 200k in Nigeria, living in Abuja would not be able to save 500k a year.
Some japa to get capital to return home for business. Let me also say this that if you're married with kids on a minimum wage job in the UK you may not do too well but still better than your colleagues back home. Your argument that some persons in Nigeria do better than some persons in the UK is flawed. To do better than the least worker in the UK, the person should be privileged. Sure there are privileged people in every corner of the world.
Nazgul: The question you should be asking is how much does a bank manager earn in Nigeria?
If you must know, no bank in Nigeria pays their branch managers up to N1m. On an average, they earn between 500-600k. (That's about $600 not pounds o)
A skyscraper window cleaner in the UK earns about £23,000. With that amount, you can live comfortably in the UK.
Aside the risks involved in the job, I won't say he made a bad choice.
I must commend your thinking. I am not so sure of the £23,000 annual earning. If it be correct then it cannot be more than 3 days a week. A job that earns you 23k annually on full time is not a good paying job. Any way, any job in the UK is better than a bank branch manager's job in Nigeria
Pauladex: Funny people, if 25% in FCT is determinants of who becomes President, it like nailing their coffin because north will make sure no southerners ever get 25% in FCT till the end of ages. Either today or tomorrow Aso rock is getting far from children of anger and hatred.
Funny man, I believe you have never being close to the FCT. For your information majority of the habitants of the FCT are not hausa's. Also, the aborigines or real owners of FCT (Gbagyi's) are not Hausa's so that you misguided narrative do not apply.
