Switzerland defender Manuel Akanji has posted a picture of him wearing Nigeria's World Cup jersey, probably a dig aimed at Swiss FA secretary Alex Miescher. Miescher proposed that Swiss players with dual nationality who do not give up their other passport should not be invited to the national team.

The Borussia Dortmund’s rising star, Akanji published a photo on Twitter in which he was wearing the Nigeria National Team jersey on holiday in Spain.

Akanji's father is a Nigerian while his mother is from Switzerland.

Miescher joined the hot debate in the country whether the national team having many players with foreign roots truly reflect the country after Switzerland were sent packing from Russia 2018 World Cup after losing 1-0 to Sweden in their second round fixture at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on July 3.

Akanji, who is one of the revelations of Russia 2018, has subtly indicated that he is not ready to deny his Nigerian roots for the sake of playing for Switzerland by publicly identifying with the Super Eagles.

The Swiss federation, who distanced themselves from Miescher’s comments, however said they had only been considering getting young players to give up their second nationality when joining the national team training programme.

Operatives of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) deployed to Kwara State and responsible for the arrest of the deadly Offa bank robbers - have arrested another notorious gang of robbers following complaints from residents of Ilorin, Kwara State on incessant filling station robberies and car snatchings within the state.

The suspects who were arrested are;

1) James Obaje 34Yrs Native of Dekina LGA of Kogi State. His confession led to the arrest of other gang members namely

2) Nelson Yakubu 36Yrs Native of Dekina LGA of Kogi State The Gang Leader also key lieutenant of the Notorious Zakari Yau Kingpin of Criminals and Killers in Kogi State earlier arrested by IRT.

3) Yakubu Danladi 27yrs Native of Anpka LGA of Kogi State.

4) Ibrahim Mutari 25yrs Native of Dekina LGA of Kogi State.

5) Suleiman Ilo 35yrs native of Omala LGA of Kogi State.

6) Gboyega Olaoye Age 35yrs native of Ekiti Kwara LGA, Kwara State were all arrested Within Kwara, Kaduna and Kogi States.

Arrested Suspects confessed to several Armed robberies, Bank Robberies, Petrol filling Station Robberies and Car Snatchings within Kaduna, Kwara, FCT and Kogi State. Also, Recovered are their Operational Weapons which includes (3)three AK47 Rifles, (1) One K2 rifle and (1) one pump action.

Serial numbers of the Rifles are KO349815, KO349265, 59476, 301035 and one with defaced Serial number respectively, 311 rounds of 7.62mm Live Ammunition, 286 rounds of 5.56mm Live Ammunition, Operational vehicle one Blue Mazda 626 with registration number KEY627DS Used for their operations with the Rifles found hidden inside the Engine Compartment of the Mazda Car, Charms and several vehicle plate numbers were also recovered from Suspects.

Serious efforts to arrest remaining gang members and recovery of their remaining operational weapons in progress.

The police today shared pictures showing the moment some notorious kidnappers were nabbed by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the IGP Monitoring Unit last month. The suspected criminals were responsible for the death of a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, John Iheanacho.

Despite collecting a ransom of N6million from his family, the kidnappers held the victim hostage in their camp in Afam, a community in the Oyingbo area of the state, until he died from a gunshot wound.

His demise was hidden from the family about three months after his abduction, when his corpse was found in a shallow grave at the camp by the police.

It was learnt that the seven-man gang had trailed a man in a Toyota Camry to an estate in Irebe, a suburb of Port Harcourt, on March 20, 2018 but missed their target.

While returning from the operation in the night, they saw Iheanacho driving into the estate and went after him in their car. The man was in front of his house when they intercepted him.

They were said to have shot him in the leg and whisked him away in his car to their camp.

It was gathered that they subsequently contacted the deceased’s wife and demanded a N50m ransom, which was later reduced to N6m.

It was gathered that the family reported the case to the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team as the gang failed to release the man after the ransom was paid.

The operatives subsequently tracked down the suspects, who led them to the camp, and Iheanacho’s body was exhumed.

Daughter Of Ex Ondo Deputy Governor, Lasisi Oluboyo, Found Dead Under Boyfriend's Bed. Photos

Miss Adenike Khadijat Oluboyo, a final year Student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in Ondo state - has been found dead. The deceased, a daughter of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo was reportedly found dead at the home of her boyfriend in Akure, the state capital.

Miss Khadijat who has been declared missing for the past six days at the school, was found under the bed of her boyfriend in what was suspected to a money ritual by the boyfriend Adeyemi Alao popularly known as QS.

A family source confirmed to Radio Nigeria that an Herbalist that did the money ritual for Adeyemi who is currently at large, instructed him to keep the corpse for seven days but lucky ran out of the Abuja-based boyfriend when his younger brother met the decomposing body of Oluboyo’s daughter in mysterious manner and he later reported the incident to the police in Akure.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations officer, Mr Femi Joseph said the command’s officers discovered the dead body of the undergraduate at a house at Oke-Aro area of Akure following a tip-off.

The PPRO disclosed that some arrest had been made in connection with the death of the former deputy governor’s daughter, however said full briefing would be done by the state commissioner of police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju on the incident after the completion of investigations.

A Customs official would be thanking his stars after escaping death at the hands of angry mob in Apapa area of Lagos state. It was gathered that the Customs personnel and his colleagues allegedly killed someone in the area because of "smuggled rice". The young men in the area mobilized themselves and descended on the officer they could catch.

The Customs officer was beaten black and blue and also injured in the process.

A video posted online shows the moment the officer was begging for his life after being left bloodied.

Some youths restrained their colleagues from further beating the man as they decided to leave him because of his status as para-military personnel.

A protest was held on Thursday, July 5th (yesterday), by angry youths in Delta state to mourn their colleague who was allegedly killed by police officers and to agitate against his untimely death.

According to reports, the deceased identified as Comrade Njoku Christian a.k.a 'Fearless Biggie' was allegedly shot dead by police officers in Ekpan division, Effurun, Delta state, after arguing with them at a checkpoint.

It was gathered that after arguing with the officers, the young man who is a member of the committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) Delta state branch - zoomed off. The police officers led by one Sergeant Wilson shot chased him before allegedly opening fire on him.

In a bid to cover their killing, the activist was labelled an armed robber.

The incident reportedly took place on June 18 at about 9pm. After the shooting, it was claimed that the police, in a bid to cover the extrajudicial killing, alleged that the victim was an armed robber who opened fire at them. They then deposited his corpse in the morgue and ordered the attendants not to disclose his identity.

Some Human rights activists have picked up the case to demand justice for the man whom they say was innocent and brutally murdered in cold blood.

Yesterday, Nigerian airline, Air Peace launched an all-female flights on the Lagos-Abuja, Abuja-Owerri, Owerri-Abuja and Abuja-Lagos routes. According to reports, the flights were in honour of its first female captain, Sinmisola Ajibola.

Air Peace’s Corporate Communications Manager, Chris Iwarah, said Captain Sinmisola’s achievement was a testament to Air Peace’s avowed commitment to gender equality and promotion of Nigerian women in aviation as possessing the requisite skills to distinguish themselves anywhere across the globe in their chosen career.

He said that although women occupied most of the airlines’ top positions, “Sinmisola’s elevation is a great milestone in our effort to grow capacity for women in the cockpit.”

Sinmisola, who was in command of the four-leg flight, was assisted in the cockpit by Senior First Officer, Quincy Owen.

The all-female crew flight took-off from the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos at 1310 hours, and arrived to a water salute at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 1420 hours.

The renewed cult clash has sparked fear and unrest among residents in Rivers state. According to reports, two men were killed and beheaded by cult group in Ubima community in Ikwerre local government area of the state ( the country home of Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon Rotimi Amaechi).

The shocking incident reportedly happened on Sunday night and till now, no one has been arrested in connection with the gruesome killings.

Earlier this year, two cult gangs, Icelanders and Deygbam, allegedly fighting a political superiority battle have turned Ubima community in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, into a battleground. In one of the gory encounters, fear gripped the entire community after one of the cult groups killed about three suspected members of a rival cult.

A number of chiefs and elders have fled the community and taken refuge in neighboring towns because of the atmosphere of insecurity in the town. The boys, who are on the prowl, monitor movements in and out of the community and harass any visitors to the community.

A woman in the delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) which met yesterday with President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock, knelt down and wept profusely before him. She requested for a private meeting with the President over the killings. Her request was granted.

Women leader of North CAN Mrs. Leah Olusiyi Solomon, knelt down, crying over the killings especially of women and children.

The woman raised up her hands while weeping.

The President was touched and he directed her to liaise with the person that would arrange the meeting.

With the CAN leaders at the meeting was Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, whose state witnessed the recent orgy of killings.

The CAN leaders demanded a review of the country’s security architecture and an immediate end to incessant killings by suspected armed herdsmen.

The Christian leaders also called on President Buhari to ensure the release of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu, who is being held by Boko Haram for refusing to denounce her Christian faith.

Four armed robbers that specializes in stealing and snatching vehicles have been apprehended by the Katsina state Police command,. The police command also stated that one of the suspected fleeing armed robbers died in a lone ghastly accident involving the vehicle that he and his colleagues snatched from a woman in Katsina.

According to the command, the dead suspect in his early twenties, had on Wednesday, 27, June, 2018, along with his colleagues, earlier stormed the house of the owner of the vehicle at about 7.30 p.m, where they snatched the vehicle, along with other items.

Katsina Police Commissioner, Muhammadu Wakili who confirmed the incident to newsmen during a press briefing, said the corpse of the suspect was later found inside the vehicle where it was involved in a lone accident .

He said “On 27/6/2018 at about 19.45 hrs,patrol team attached to Sabon Gari Division received a distress call that armed robbers were attacking one Hajiya Aisha Abdullahi in her house at Sabuwar Unguwar Quarters, Katsina, who robbed her of motor vehicle Toyota Highlander, 2003 model, ash in colour with Registration number AS 579 KTS.

“The police team swung into action and while moving towards the scene sighted a motor vehicle with the said description in an accident scene adjacent to GRA Jummat mosque, Katsina’’. “The only occupant, suspected to be one of the robbers died in the accident.”

Wakili said investigation revealed the identity of the armed robber which also led to the subsequent arrest of other three suspects who are now in police custody.

He gave the names of the suspects as Sanusi Abdullahi, 22; Mansur Abdullahi 21 and Aliyu Salisu, 22, all, residents of Sabuwar Unguwa in Katsina metropolis.

The police boss further recalled that Salisu was caught with another stolen vehicle, a Honda CRV with Nasarawa state Registration number: BE 788 NSR said to belong to one Nasiru Lawal ,a resident of Katsina.

“All the suspects will soon be charged to court after our investigation,” he said.

A shocking trending video making the rounds online has called for caution among Nigerians to be very careful when employing house maids. Two boys who disguised perfectly as girls were recently apprehended by the authorities after they were discovered to be what they are not.

After they were arrested and taken to the station, the boys allegedly confessed that they pretended to be girls in order to be employed.

Imagine what they would have done to the female children left in their care.

They were asked to show their private parts (including the fake breasts) right there in the station as they were filmed.

A Facebook user who posted the video online urged people to thoroughly check housemaids before employing them.

There was pandemonium earlier today after a man, from Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North local government area, Delta state, allegedly shot his son's wife to death and reportedly killed himself afterwards.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the afternoon of Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Erovie quarters of Ozoro kingdom.

It claimed that the deceased identified as Adisco, a former Oletu in Erovie community and a famous hunter reportedly went berserk over an undisclosed disagreement before allegedly killing his son's wife and after that, he shot himself dead.

For impregnating an SS3 student, 5 teachers of the Polytechnic Academic Staff Secondary School Birnin Kebbi, have been fired. It was disclosed that the female student was also expelled from the school.

The five teachers were sacked following the recommendation of a committee set up by the school to investigate the matter.

“The committee submitted report on Monday and recommended that all the five teachers should be dismissed from service immediately.

“The management have dismissed the teachers and the victim was also expelled from the school.“When the committee interrogated each of the teachers, they confessed that they have been having sexual relationship with the victim separately, so, they were sacked immediately based on the committee’s recommendations”, a source disclosed to NAN.

According to reports, the affected teachers had forwarded an appeal against their dismissal to the school’s management board.

An Austria based Nigerian man popularly known as King Onwa a.k.a Eze Awo was today disgraced and humiliated in his community, Awo-omamma in Imo state after insulting their king and his royal family on social media. The man who lives in Vienna, Austria, sometime ago did live videos on Facebook where he insulted their king and the royal family.

In the videos which are making the rounds on Facebook, the man can be heard in Igbo dialect making mockery of their community leader as he said he has been receiving threatening messages for insulting the monarch and exposing him.

He said people have been telling him not to come back to the community or else he wants to be seriously dealt with. Some even told him that they would cut his dreadlocks if he ventures come back to the village.

He said that anything can happen to him but if anyone touches his dreadlocks, he will finish the person.

Not taking their threats seriously, King Onwa decided to visit his village where he met angry youths of the community.

He was beaten and his dreadlocks actually shaven as he was given a stern warning to desist from insulting their king online or face more drastic actions..
