There was pandemonium in Okpuneze, Nnewi area of Anambra state after man allegedly killed his mother and absconded. According to a trending video posted by a Facebook user, the shocking incident happened yesterday night after a disagreement.

The son after killing his own mother while she was cooking, left her laying on the ground in the pool of her blood before fleeing.

While some people claim a pastor told him his mom was behind his ordeals in life, a neighbor said he killed her because she prevented him from collecting house rent from tenants.

Yesterday, six operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), were arrested for allegedly extorting N40,000 from twin brothers Mark and Martins on their to NYSC Camp. They were reportedly detained and charged for misconduct by IGP X-squad in Delta state after they were reported by human rights activist and CEO of Behind Bars Initiative (BBI), Prince Harrison.

According to the activist who conducted an investigation, residents of Warri are allegedly paying for registration in order for the SARS operatives to protect them.

PEOPLE IN WARRI, DELTA STATE REGISTER TO THESE FEDERAL SARS OFFICERS FOR PROTECTION.

BBI investigations proved that young and old in Warri, Delta State pay registration fees to these men to be protected.

For instance, you pay them, you won't be stopped or arrested, and you will be protected from further arrest from any security agencies.

This means, they protect criminals. We commend their efforts in curbing crime but we have too may bad eggs among them.

BBI wishes to inform the general public to always report any act of Misconduct, Extortion, Brutality.

The menace of armed robberies and kidnappings have returned to the Abuja-Kaduna expressway following the killing and abducting scores of travellers on Sunday (yesterday). According to reports, the attack occurred near Gidan Busa village, located between Jere and Kateri along the expressway.

A former Katsina state commissioner of Education Prof. "Halimatu Sa'adiya Idris" was among the victims killed as a result of gunshot by bandits last night along Kaduna/Abuja road.

According to Daily Nigerian, one of the survivors from the scene said an army officer and a policeman were among those killed by the gunmen.

“There is an army officer travelling with his orderly and daughter. The orderly escaped with gunshot but they killed the army officer and his daughter on the spot,” Haruna Isa, a VW Golf driver who survived the attack said.

“There is another person they killed after identifying that he was a policeman. Several other passengers were killed, while many were abducted.”

Witnesses said the security officers refused to engage the kidnappers on the premise that “they were waiting for reinforcement”.

The latest attack is coming one day after a young man identified as Shehu Alaka, a student of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University in Katsina state, was killed by armed robbers. The deceased who was based in Abuja – was said to be returning home when his bus was ambushed by armed robbers along Kaduna-Abuja road and he was killed in the process.

A gallant soldier identified as Julius was among the casualties killed during a Boko Haram ambush yesterday in Yobe state. According to the Nigerian army in a press statement issued by Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, the deputy director public relations (Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole), the troops encountered the ambush yesterday at about 12.30 noon, along Sasawa Road in Babbangida, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe state.

The attack occurred during a fighting patrol to clear the general area of fleeing elements of Boko Haram insurgents who have been on rampage for food and logistics.

The gallant troops overpowered and neutralized the insurgents in the fire fight that ensued and successfully extricated themselves from the ambush.

Information have so far confirmed that the insurgents whose original mission was to attack and loot the near by Babangida market for food and other logistics, aborted the mission to stage the ambush on getting wind of the troops patrol. Sadly, while fighting through the ambush, the troops recorded some casualties.

A man has revealed what happened to him and his colleague after they were stranded while on an assignment in Abuja. According to George Haaga, he and his colleague were stranded following a heavy rainfall before a Fulani herdsman came to their aid and gave them shelter as he made them comfortable in his hut.

George took to Facebook to hail the Fulani man. He wrote;

Yesterday heavy rain caught my colleague and I on assignment in a community in Abuja. This fulani man gave us shelter and ensured that we were comfortable in his little hut. This herdsman served us with milk from the udder of his cows. We spoke extensively with the fulaniman about the herdsmen /farmers crisis while the rain continued to fall and our welcome lasted, he felt bitter about it.

This good fulani man said they are not the ones carrying out the attacks and how he would love to sleep at night with his two eyes closed but he can't for fear of being attacked. The fulani man prays for a better and peaceful Nigeria. Let us pray.

This guy lied to me about staying in Ikeja, Lagos but Ben he stays in Ogun state in one small room, he even cooks inside the one room, everywhere is just smelling, even my room in Abuja is bigger and neater than this. Now I told him I want to go back but he refused to give me transport saying he is broke he doesn't have money.

Since I came, I have been eating yam for the past 3 days now only yam and the yam has finished. Please I need help and advice please. I'm in Sango Bridge sugar, I'm really tired of staying, I want to go back home please I need advice.

He said he stays in safe contain in Ikeja. I have never been to Lagos before, it was my first time. I didn't even know I'm in Ogun state until people started saying I'm in Ogun not Lagos. I thought I'm coming to lag to have fun after all he promised me ooooo. I didn't know I'm coming to suffer"...

Nigerians have got to be extra careful as fraudsters have upped their game in scamming unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard earned money. A man was caught on CCTV stealing the a POS machines at an eatery.

In the video which was posted online in order to identify the culprit (the man in a suit), the suspected fraudster can be seen standing at the counter while pretending to be a customer before stealing the POS machine after a staff turned away while attending to others.

The man immediately concealed the stolen machine in a newspaper before walking away.

According to reports, the scammers bug the POS machines and return them back to where they were stolen from. Once a debit/ATM card is swiped on them, the bank account details are forwarded to the fraudsters who will then clear their victim's accounts withing minutes.

Two Nigerian Air Force personnel simply identified as Uche and Sanni, have been killed by armed bandits in line of duty in Zamfara state. The soldiers were reportedly killed after an attack by the gunmen in the region. Their corpses have been recovered by the Air Force and efforts underway to apprehend those responsible.

Meanwhile, at least 30 persons were reportedly killed by cattle rustling and kidnapping gangs during raids on villages in Zamfara State on Tuesday.

According to the villagers, bandits on motorcycles stormed five neighbouring rural villages in the Maradun district of the state, firing indiscriminately and stealing livestock.

The bridge at Tatabu village along Mokwa - Jebba road, which collapsed due to heavy rain fall last year, thereby halting vehicular movement from both sides, has been fixed and completed. The Federal Government said the collapsed Tatabu Bridge in Niger State, was rebuilt for N2.5 billion.

The bridge reportedly got an extra 250 and 200 metres access road from both ends.

Minister of State for Power Works and Housing II, Hassan Zarma, during an inspection, attributed the collapse to heavy vehicles plying the road, and poor maintenance culture.

He maintained that the project is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to fixing infrastructure decay.

Tatabu bridge, washed away, after a torrential rainfall, which left all categories of vehicles plying the busy road stranded for days while some trucks fell into the bridge but no life lost.

Two young men were paraded for allegedly stealing goats in Eziagulu village, Ekwulobia, area of Anambra state. The suspects, one Mr Ifedichukwu Iloduba from Eziagulu village, Ekwulobia and Chika Umeakunne from Umudim Nnewi, allegedly stole a pregnant goat from one woman and came back on a second mission to steal again.

This time they allegedly stole two small goats on Tuesday and went to the market to sell it, before they were caught by the woman, who raised alarm that attracted the village's vigilante.

The two thieves were paraded early this morning in Ekwulobia.

One of the suspects reportedly fainted along the way.

Speaking after the parade, the Chief security officer of Eziagulu village, Comrade Zikora Eze , warned criminal elements to stay away from the village, or suffer the kind of disgrace meted out to the two goat thieves today.

The tragic death of a young wife has left her husband devastated. The deceased identified as Hindatu Yahaya, was said to have gotten married three days before she was swept away in the massive flood which wrecked havoc in Jibia town in Katsina.

According to Katsina Post, the heartbroken husband, Malam Sani Yahaya, revealed on Wednesday (yesterday) that the corpse of his young wife was recovered in Niger Republic. Yahaya said that the flood occurred on Monday night at about 2:00am, cleared his house and took away his wife.

The emotional man said; “the Corpse of my missing wife was retrieved at Girka village in Mada-Rumfa town of Niger Republic,” he said, with emotions flowing in his voice. “We searched in the river and rubles of the collapse walls of my house and the houses of our neighbours but could not locate her.

“As we are searching, we got a phone call from people that are helping us in Mada-Rumfa town of Niger Republic, that the corpse of a young woman has been retrieved from the river that pass through their town.

“We rushed to the town and discovered that it was the remains of my wife that was fished out of the river. “We collected her dead body and brought her back to Jibia town, where we buried her in accordance with Islamic injunctions” he said.

Yahaya said that for past three days, he had not been able to eat because of the trauma of missing his new wife that was with him for only three days.

Despite threats from political thugs, the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, stormed his constituency yesterday to commission some projects. The senator inaugurated the two blocks of four classrooms be built at LGEA Primary School, Tawari, and LGEA primary School, Manyare, the 10- kilometre Manyare-Gegu Beki road and the 15-kilometre Orehi – Irovomi road, all in Kogi Local Government.

Melaye, who also inaugurated a borehole he built at Felele area of Lokoja, said other projects to be inaugurated in the next few days include classroom blocks , rural roads, boreholes, skills acquisition centres as well as rural electrification schemes.

He further charged the people of the communities where the projects were located to protect them from vandals and make the best use of them.

It was reported that some constituency projects meant for commissioning on Wednesday (yesterday) by senator Dino Melaye, were set ablaze by persons suspected to be arsonists.

This happened after some unidentified political thugs warned the senator not to enter Kogi State or else he will be attacked.

Two Catholic Priests of Nsukka Diocese were on Thursday 12 July 2018, manhandled and severely injured by some youths of Ogbodu-Aba in Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State.

Rev. Fr. Peter Chikwado Udaya, the parish priest of St. Patrick’s Parish Ibenda and Rev. Fr. Daniel Tochukwu Akubue, the parish priest of St. Mary’s Parish Ada-Obollo and the assistant Diocesan Liturgist, were attacked as they were going back to their duty posts after a brief visit from St. Charles Parish Eha-Ndiagu.

It was gathered that as the two clergy men got to Ogbodu-Aba, they were stopped, blocked and shamefully harassed by some masquerades and the slightest attempt by the priests to inquire what was amiss were greeted with rains of lashes and massive downpour of slaps from every side.

The youths rounded them up and made it difficult for them to escape and pounced on them until the two priests sustained serious injuries.

The crowds that gathered as the incident was going on - did not even help the priests; instead they encouraged and hailed the youths to go on with their mischievous act.

According to reports, the two priests were eventually rescued by Mr. Stephen Eze and his wife who later was said to have been ostracized by the community members.

Shepherd Communications learnt that Fr. Chikwado Udaya during the attack, sustained a lot of injuries some of which affected his vision. In fact, since the ugly incident occurred, he has not been able to see with one of his eyes. He has already undergone an eye operation but the situation is still bad. Fr. Akubue Daniel as at the time of filing this report is still receiving treatment.

The sudden demise of a young lady identified as Fadila Mu'azu, has left her family, friends and colleagues in tears. According to reports, the lady who was full of life - was killed in a fatal accident while returning home after finishing lecture at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

It was gathered that the young lady died this morning following injuries she sustained in the accident some days ago.

One minute she was alive and the next minute, she was dead, one of her sad friends lamented online.

She will be laid to rest according to Islamic rites. May her soul rest in peace.
