A woman has been rushed to the hospital after she was allegedly tortured and brutalized by police. Facebook user Adeyemi shared the pictures and claimed the woman who was arrested after a disagreement with her mother - was allegedly handcuffed her to a cell door and beaten her with a metal object. While the young lady was arguing with her mother over a phone she wanted to sell, two Police personnel came to the house to arrest her,” according to an online report. She was in a very weak state after her release and had to be taken to the hospital where she is currently receiving treatment. The presidential hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Alhaji Atiku Abubakar met with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu at the airport as both arrived to campaign for their parties ahead of the July 14 governorship election. Both political leaders greeted each other warmly along with their supporters at the airport. The former Vice President who was in Ekiti state with members of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council expressed satisfaction with the level of the preparedness of his party for the upcoming election. Atiku said that the APC should display its democratic credential for the first time by accepting the outcome of the pending poll in good fate just like the PDP did to the party in 2015. A Nigerian man donning the Super Eagles jersey kissed his Croatian partner publicly near the Kaliningrad Stadium in Russia at the ongoing world cup tournament. According to reports, the couple kissed each other to show no hard feelings before the match started. Meanwhile, Nigeria began their 2018 World Cup campaign, with a 2-0 defeat to Croatia on Saturday night. At least two persons have been confirmed killed and several others injured in a heavy windstorm in Bauchi State. According to reports, the windstorm, which started at about 4 pm on Saturday and lasted for over an hour, damaged several houses – blowing off roofs and destroying fences in Bauchi metropolis and beyond. It was learnt that several others may have been injured as telecommunication masts and trees were also felled by the storm. One of the affected houses collapsed on a pregnant woman who was pulled out and rushed to a hospital. The two persons killed are one male aged about 30, and an eight-year-old girl. Governor Mohammed Abubakar has directed the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency to assess the level of damage and aid those affected. This latest natural disaster is coming less than 48 hours after windstorm wreaked havoc in 11 villages in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state, killing three people and destroying properties. An 18-year-old girl couldn't has been overwhelmed with joy after undergoing surgery to correct her leg which got damaged after being involved in a fire accident. The girl identified as Assiatou revealed her happiness after repairing her ankle burn contracture, and undergoing months of physiotherapy successfully which helped her heal and learn to walk properly. Now home and ready to celebrate, Assiatou doesn’t know yet what her future will hold, but she is now free to pursue dreams that once felt impossible. According to reports, she now does things she couldn't do before such as wearing shoes and walking on her own. A member of the The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries gave testimony after catching an owl withing the church premises. According to Jerome Onyebuchi, the bird was caught after a night vigil was held in the church at Enugu Ezike community in Enugu state - as the owl was labeled "evil". Jerome Onyebuchi took to Facebook to share the pictures of the bird as he wrote; The enemies have started submitting. According to reports, this is one of the two victims who survived the fatal accident that claimed 8 lives at the Benin- Lagos express road two days ago. The accident killed eight indigenes of Edo state (five males and three females) who arrived from Spain for a traditional marriage after a Hummer bus conveying them rammed into a Mack truck. The driver of the speeding hummer bus rammed into the rear of a truck marked MUS 730 XN in an attempt to overtake it. Seven of the victims were reported to have died at the accident scene while one other died later. Their remains were deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu where two others rescued alive, were also receiving treatment. The suspected killers of Charity Aiyedogbon who got missing since May 2016 - have been paraded by the Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). There was pandemonium yesterday at Boki local government area of Cross River State following clash between military men and villagers. According to reports, following the cult war which has seen many dead, soldiers who were deployed in the area allegedly shot and wounded two youths from Nsadop community. According to journalist George Odok, the community youths retaliated and also injured the soldiers. The villagers who chased the soldiers away - also burnt down one of their vehicles. A national park in Ekuri community in Cross River state has recorded numerous successes in the fight against poachers in the area. The rangers at the park recently apprehended a group of poachers who have been hunting down animals freely and killing them in the neglected part of the park. They were caught while roasting the slain animals in the bush. They were later arrested and placed in handcuffs before being handed over to the police. Bayelsa State Airport land owners have blocked the main entrance of the Airport as the State Government failed to compensate them. According to reports, the saga all started when the state government failed to compensate them as agreed last month. They said Seriake Dickson, the current governor of the state - is unrealistic and cannot be trusted in any agreement as he has not even given them hope if the compensation will be paid sooner or later. Meanwhile, the protesters landed at the area with mosquito nets, bags of rice other food stuffs and cooking items. The raging war between two cult’s groups, Vikings Confraternity and Black Axxe - has claimed the lives of three persons in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. One of the deceased identified as Mr. Ubong Etuk was killed in a gruesome manner after being shot in the head. It was gathered that the two groups have been after one another for the past three months before the weekend clash that started in a motel at Afaha Uqua Eket. One was killed at Liverpool Road, another in Uqua Village, while the third person was killed at a sit-out at Atai Ndon Village, all in Eket. It was scooped that the clash leading to the death of three cult members started on Sunday, when a member of Vikings Confraternity unleashed terror on a member of the Black Axxe with machete cuts. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Odiko MacDon, who confirmed the incident, urged members of the public to go about their normal businesses without fear as the Police are on top of the situation. It seems reptiles are now taking over parts of Kogi state as another snake has been killed by students of Kogi state university. Just days after a snake was killed by some students of the same institution in a lodge while it was trying to eat up a chicken in a kitchen, another huge reptile has been caught and killed. The case between Senator Dino Melaye and three others over gun running, that came up today at a Lokoja Magistrete Court 1, has been adjoined to 26th June, 2018. The matter which came up for mentioning, witnessed mild drama as the three accused persons under cross examination denied all the allegations they claimed they have made against Senator Melaye. Senator Dino, has been arraigned on a seven-count charges bordering on criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, kidnapping, armed robbery and murder, political thuggery among others, before Mr. Suleyman Abdullahi of the Senior Magistrate Court 2. The lead government prosecutor, Mr. Alex Iziyon (SAN) today argued that the court be allowed to apply the front loading system, this he said would speedy the court process. According to Izihon, rather than waste the time of the court,bringing the accused to testify, begged the court to allow for counsels present their addresses in writing. This argument by Alex Iziyon, was countered by Yemi Mohammed, who stood in for Mike Ozokhome SAN was objected to, said the allegations been criminal demands hearing from the accused persons. Mohammed quoted section of constitution that allows for accused to testify. The judge however ruled that the hearing will continue on the next adjoined date.
