The Nigerian army has upped its game in the battle to rid criminality from the country. According to an online report, the Nigerian Army on Thursday received some large cache of assorted arms and ammunition from its foreign defense partners. The army also received delivery of engines of armoured tanks, bullet proof vests and spare parts of armoured vehicles.

The military items were delivered after touching down yesterday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport in Abuja.

There was confusion and panic among residents of Kwangila area in Zaria, Kaduna state after thinking a bomb blast had occurred following a deafening sound which was heard in the area. The explosion was reported to have been caused by some gas cylinders after their pressure pipes broke and wrecked havoc in the market.

According to reports, a man who was at the area to buy gas - was so lucky after the cylinder exploded, propelled towards his vehicle and shattered the glasses.

The incident caused a huge scene in the area as many people gathered at the market to see what had happened before the arrival of the authorities.

A salon car ascending a hilly road in Owerri, Imo state, lost control and fell into the stream along 3rd Inland road along Orient TV/Concorde road this afternoon. The Commissioner for Public Safety, Prince Chidi Nwaturuocha who was at the scene - called a towing van which immediately came and rescued the partially-submerged vehicle. See pictures below;

While the living are complaining of the havoc wrecked by the heavy downpour in Kano state days, the dead appear not to be at rest also. According to reports, the rainfall also affected a cemetery in the state as seen in the picture below. The cemetery workers are calling on the appropriate authorities in the state to look into the issue before it gets worse with the corpses.

Some days ago, it was reported that a caterpillar excavator used for road construction – was submerged in a flood after a heavy downpour in Kano state. According to Abubakar Dala, the equipment had been left at the site for some days now – only for residents to be shocked to see it had been submerged after hours of rainfall.

This is serious. Election period is the only moment where one sees a politician doing the unusual especially in Africa. The senator representing Benue North-West (Zone 'B'), and former governor of Benue State, George Igbeigbe Akume Dajo, today took to the streets in a rare show respect to the ordinary people.

The Senator reportedly went out on the Makurdi-Gboko Road where he stopped motorists and took time to greet and pay homage to commuters, as can be observed in the attached photos.

This may well be a case of realization of the might of the ordinary people whose powers are increasing by the day, particularly with elections around the corner.

The founder of Ebubechukwuzo Foundation Ozubulu, Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu Ebubechukwuzo popularly known as Bishop Ozubulu, was hailed as he strolled the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa with friends and many others. His presence was said to have alerted many other Nigerians from all corners in the city as they gathered with their requests as if they had expected him for so long.

The philanthropist selected some legitimate businessmen and rendered financial assistance to them right there.

Recall Ikegwuonu was accused of being a drug kingpin whose enemies and disgruntled business partners were out to assassinate in the Ozubulu Catholic church massacre which left many dead and others injured last year August. His father was also among victims killed in the attack.

Bishop who denied allegations of being involved in any shady business - said he has no knowledge of what caused the attack. According to him, he arrived South Africa on the day of the attack and had to rush back home when he heard of the incident.

“Honestly, I do not know anything about the incident otherwise I could have prevented it but only God knows”.

On his reaction after finding out his father was among those that were killed in the massacre, he said

“Honestly, I wept over the death of my father and all that were killed in the church because it is only God that knows how painful it was for me to bear the loss”,

Reacting to the allegation that his betrayal to one of his business partners is the genesis of the attack, Bishop said “People who know me well can testify, I do not owe anybody. I have a registered business in South Africa. I do not have any criminal record there or here in Nigeria from my childhood. But even if someone even says I betrayed him or her, he should petition, sue me as I am not above the law”.

Last month, it was reported how a man underwent surgery to correct a huge tumor on his face. According to reports, the growth started as a minor flesh wound after a motorcycle accident 15 years ago, which later developed into a keloid tumor that took over his life as it made him feel isolated, rejected and afraid for a very long time.

A lack of access to timely, affordable surgery following the motorcycle accident left him with a mass of scar tissue that grew heavier every day.

The plaster on the man's face has been removed by surgeons as he's going home having exchanged his fears for confidence.

Some days ago, a tragedy occurred in the quiet village of Juta in Ukum local government area of Benue state after two tankers laden with fuel collided and burst into flames. The tragic event reportedly led to the death of fours persons including two villagers from Sardauna local government in Taraba state.

Former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and his wife, former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan yesterday night hosted Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, OFR, his wife,Lady (Bar) Josephine Ozekhome and some of their children to dinner in the family's home at Maitama, Abuja.

Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, was validly appointed to represent four companies that pleaded guilty to laundering $15.5million allegedly belonging to former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.

The companies are Pluto Property and Investment Company Ltd, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Ltd, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Ltd and Avalon Global Property Development Ltd.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned the firms alongside a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to President Jonathan, Waripamo Dudafa, a lawyer Amajuoyi Briggs, who is the companies secretary and a banker, Adedamola Bolodeoku.

Idris arrested one of the most Wanted kidnapper/Armed robber and Killers within Maraban Yakawada, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state named Bara'u Ibrahim a.k.a Rambo who became prominent in the crime world for operating with 2 AK47 Rifles and his abilities in shooting 2 AK-47 rifles at the same time during their operations in Kaduna and Zamfara States.

Another gang member, Shehu Abdullahi a.k.a Gashin Baki, 40 years was equally arrested. IRT operatives recovered 2 AK-47 rifles with S/Nos: AD160102 and 1978AD4328 with 51 live ammunition respectively in the operational VW Golf car of Rambo which was equally recovered.

Several people were reportedly injured on Saturday after a fight broke out during the local government congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo state. The injured which included the former lawmaker, representing the area at the House of Assembly, Hon. Afolabi Iwalewa, and the current Caretaker Chairman of the local government area, Prince Gbadebo Odimayo.

Speaking on the development, Iwalewa explained that trouble started when the leader of the party in the area and Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Emmanuel Igbasan, led some hoodlums to the venue of the congress.

According to him, members of the party in the local government had assembled at the party secretariat for the exercise, waiting for the officials and party leaders but most of the members were disappointed when they learnt that the Congress would not hold.

He said “Igbasan and some leaders of the party in the local government area, insisted that the current executives of the party at the local government level should continue in that capacity while we wanted a congress to usher in new leaders. “They invaded the party secretariat with hoodlums numbering 30 and started shooting sporadically into the air to scare away people while some people were hit with a machete and beaten to coma.

The former lawmaker said he ran into the Chairman office and they came out together after the Caretaker Chairman had called the security agents, but said the presence of the security operatives could not save him as the hoodlums descended on him and inflicted injuries on him.

He, however, said he was rescued by the policeman and taken away from the scene of the incident with the police Hilux van.

A policeman was killed along with a driver in an attack by armed men numbering about 20 to rob commuters on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway yesterday. According to reports, four other persons lost their lives while 10 others were injured in a car crash near the robbery scene.

The armed men were said to have mounted a road block around Jere and were stopping vehicles traveling on the road as early as 6:00 am.

Men of the Special Anti-Robbery squad on patrol were said to have gotten wind of the operation and tried to stop the bandits when they were said to have opened fire and in the exchange, one of the police sergeants in the team was hit.

A driver of one of the vehicles stopped by the armed men was also caught by a stray bullet during the exchange of fire.

As the exchange was going on, an accident occurred near the scene and four persons lost their lives while 10 others were injured.The bodies of the accident victims and the two from the robbery attacks were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Delta State Police Command yesterday recovered the remains of Hon. Onos Onokpoma from Okurekpo thick forest in Ethiope East after a two days thorough search. According to reports, the notorious kidnappers who are said to hail from Eku, Okurekpo and Oviorie have been apprehended and currently in Police detention, also the victim's keeper is currently on the Run, his wife has been apprehended, including two others suspects who were fingered in the conspiracy are also on the run.

The Omote Eboh, a kidnap-for-ransom network in the thick forest between Okurekpo and Okuekpagha boundary (Omue’ te’te) carried out a major robbery operation on 31st March, 2018 where they robbed over 20 people including Hon. Onose Onakpoma and there after which they kidnapped him and hauled him to the thick forest where he was promptly killed before the Kidnappers called to pick up a ransom of N500,000.00 and thereafter vanished into the thin air with no trace of Hon. Onakpoma and a little or no trace of the Kidnappers.

Most of the perpetrators of the heinous crime have been apprehended including those who aided the escape of the kidnap Victim Keeper- Omote Eboh and his wife.

“Hon. Honourable Evance Ivwurie member representing Ethiope East in the Delta State House Of Assembly continues with all efforts to make good [on] his commitment to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and ensure the recovery and return of the remains of the kidnap victim Hon. Onakpoma to his hometown in Urhuoka, Abraka to accord to him the decent burial he deserves,” said Barrister Akoro M. C spokesman and Legal Assistant Of Hon. Evance Ivwurie.

Hon Onakpoma’s remains are in the Eku Baptist Government Hospital morgue while officials are preparing legal documents to release the body to the family.

Angry youths had to dig up the corpse of a man after a Reverend sister; Maria Amadeus Egbuonu buried her (Chief David Egbuonu) against the wishes of the community - in a grave in Uruagu village, Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state.

The genesis of the problem in Chief David Anumba Egbuonu's family, Uruagu Village Umudioka.Chief David Anumba Egbuonu was born in the year 1912, to family of Mr Egbuonu of Umuobii Kindred,Uruagu village of Adagbe quarters in Umudioka acient kingdom of Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Chief Anumba Egbuonu was a business man to the core and industrialist, with his insight into business, it made him to travel to different African countries for business investments and towards his retirement age, he settled down at the great commercial city of Onitsha, in Anambra State.

Chief David Anumba Egbuonu was a Christian and because of his love for tradition, he bagged a prestigious Ozo title in Umudioka cum Dunukofia, with a title name, EZEUGO NA UMUDIOKA.

Chief David Egbuonu married five (5) wives. He was blessed with five (5) sons , whom are, Chief David N Egbuonu(Jnr), Mr osita Egbuonu (late), Rev. Canon Iyke Egbuonu, Mr ugochukwu Egbuonu, Mr Moses Egbuonu and twelve (12) daughters, which includes Rev. Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu. He died at August, 2017.

From our findings and interviews from family members, Kindred members and villagers, we deduced that, the second wife and the mother to Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu and also being the mother of the fourth son (Mr Ugochukwu Egbuonu) of the family are laying claims on the properties of Chief David Egbuonu as the only legal family, he has. From our interviews and investigation, it was gathered, that the family of the second wife forged a Will, which allocated all the properties of Chief David Egbuonu to them, which are located both in Umudioka, Onitsha and Chad, even the second surviving wife, Mrs Joy Egbuonu was not mentioned in the will.

We also learnt that the Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu, her brother Ugochukwu and two of her sisters Felicia and Catherine Egbuonu (from the second wife) got a share from the ancestral land of Chief David Egbuonu, without any of their siblings from other wives gotten any share. From our investigation, it shows that Mr Ugochukwu Egbuonu(the fourth son,from the second wife) is laying claim on the OBI of Chief David Egbuonu . We interviewed an elder from Uruagu village, to know whom the OBI belongs to, he said, that traditionally and ethically, the OBI belongs to the first son of Chief David Egbonu not the fourth son, no matter any circumstances.

We tried to find out, why the Rev Sister Maria Egbuonu and her immediate family were lying claims on the said properties, we found out that immediately after the death of the first wife, who happens to be the mother of the the eldest son in the family, Chief David N Egbuonu Jnr, the Rev Sister Maria Egbuonu and her mother took over the feeding of their aged father, and with the opportunity, all the manipulations started and Rev Sister Maria Egbuonu blocked other children of Chief David Egbuonu access to their father, when he was under her care.

The family members of Chief David Egbonu, said that, they were informed of their father's death around November 2017 while their father died in August that year. When they looked into the discrepancy in the time of informing them of their father's death, they found out that, it was done intentionally, so that it will give Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu, time to sell most of their father's properties and allocate Chief Egbuonu ancestral lands to her sisters and brother.

It was gathered that, Rev Fr Oguejiofor being the peace loving priest, called a general meeting of all Chief David Egbuonu family and diverged into case, to settle the family crisis, but Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu rejected all the peace accord by Rev Fr Oguejiofor. Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu was of the view, that her immediate family is only legal family of Chief David Egbuonu.

Then Umuobi kindred of Uruagu village tried to sue for peace, by condeming the claims being done by Mr Ugochukwu Egbuonu (fourth son) as the legal owner of OBI, and the Kindred mandated Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu to surrender all the properties of Chief David Egbuonu to the family members for proper and equal share, but the kindred peace accord fell on the deaf ear side of Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu.

After all the peace accord meetings, that failed, the other four wives children decided to seek a redress from the court of law. They sued Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu and brother to the court and got an injunction that no one should enter or trespass on any of the Chief David Egbonu's properties or even bury him, pending the final judgment. It was also gathered that Chief David Egbuonu Jnr, the first and eldest son has been threatened many times, through calls and text messages, regarding his stand that peace must reign before the burial of their father.

The family got a wind of information that, Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu and her brother and sisters are planning to bring back the corpse of their father home for burial on 8th May, 2018, the family paid for announcement that, on the evening of 7th May, 2018 , that they are not yet settled their matter in the law court, that after the settlement, they will announce to the town the actual date for the burial.

To the family's utmost suprise, Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu, Felicia and Catherine Egbuonu in the company of two other Rev sisters from Immaculate Heart of Mary, Awo Omamma, Owerri Archdioceses, with fully armed MASSOB thugs, drove in on 8th of May, 2018 by 3am and buried Chief David Egbuonu in a shallow grave inside a room.

The villagers were watching the abominable act, but they couldn't stop them because of fear of being attacked by the armed MASSOB thugs, that came with Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu. But Immediately they left ,after buring the corpse in the shallow grave, the villagers and some people around, started shouting and the angry youths dug out the casket before the arrival of the Chief David N. Egbuonu Jnr, who happens to be the first and the eldest son and Rev Canon Iyke Egbuonu. After calming the angry youths, they returned the corpse, back to the mortuary.

An interview was conducted with a chieftain in the community, to ascertain whether the action of the Rev Sister Maria Amadeus Egbuonu was good, the Chief decried her act and labelled it as abomination and sacrilegious and demanded for immediate cleansing (Ikpo Alu) . Another person, was interviewed, he suggested that he was of the opinion that the Catholic Church should strip Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu of her sisterhood, because her actions was against the custom of the land and an insult to the Catholic Church in general. A group of youths were interview also, they demanded the immediate banning of Rev Sister Maria Egbuonu and her siblings from the community and demanded the immediate cleansing of their land to avoid any calamity befalling their land. From further enquiries it was gathered that, the Archbishop of Onitsha Archdioceses, Archbishop Valerian Okeke condemned the the method, the Reverend Sister, handled the matter.

It was gathered that Uruagu Village has mandated the family to perform immediate cleansing, that the action of Rev Sister Maria Amadeus Egbuonu was sacrilegious and abominable and are still on deliberation on the sanctions that will be impose on the said Reverend Sister and her immediate family for their actions.

In Umudioka custom and tradition, it is a taboo for a woman to buried a dead man, without the concept of the dead man's family.

Umudioka community are calling the authorities of Catholic Church such as,the Mother General of Immaculate Heart Congregation Awo Omamma Owerri Archdioceses, the Mother Union of Catholic churches, Catholic Priests Association from Umudioka, the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese to issue a serious sanctions on Rev Sis Maria Amadeus Egbuonu, till she settles with her family members.
