According to confirmed reports, the thugs who invaded the Nigerian Senate earlier today and stole its mace have been identified. The five suspects have been arrested by the FCT police command after they brazenly broke into the chambers of the National assembly and forcefully escaped with the Mace, the symbol of authority of the nation’s legislature.

The criminals were ALLEGEDLY led into the Red Chambers by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, are all from Delta State.

The names are:

Peter Orede – Warri South LGA

Blessing Edjeke from Abraka In Ethiope East LGA

Tuoyo Mabiaku – Warri North Local Government Area

Lucky Okomu from Oghara in Ethiope West LGA

Prince Enayemo – Ughelli South LGA

Contrary to reports that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was arrested after allegedly leading thugs into the Senate chambers to snatch the mace, the Police said the lawmaker was merely escorted out of the National Assembly complex.

The senator's media office has released a press statement as relating to the invasion of the national assembly and the stealing of the mace.

On Thursday, April 12, 2018, the Senate purportedly suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. However, based on legal advice and his understanding of the current position of the law, Senator Omo-Agege today resumed work and sitting with his colleagues.

A few champions of the unconstitutional, invalid and tyrannical suspension tried to stop him but those who opposed it welcomed and protected him throughout the sitting. We are grateful to the many Distinguished Senators who stood by Senator Omo-Agege.

We are aware of several media reports suggesting that Senator Omo-Agege personally removed or encouraged anyone to remove the Mace of the Senate. This weighty allegation is not true at all.

Following the said media reports on the Mace issue, the Police authorities decided to hear from Senator Omo-Agege. He has told the Police his perspective to help them carry out a proper investigation. He has since left the Police. Senator Omo-Agege trusts them to thoroughly investigate this very serious matter.

We are also aware of a statement allegedly issued by the Senate Spokesperson, Senator Abdullahi Sabi. Without any investigation, Senator Sabi willfully, deliberately and unfairly made very serious allegations against Senator Omo-Agege on the Mace incident. We are carefully studying Senator Sabi’s allegations to ascertain their full ramifications. Appropriate responses will follow, as may be necessary.

Fresh violence yesterday broke out in the sleepy town of Ijebu-Igbo in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, as a young man was hacked to death by cultists.

Barely a week ago, there was a bloody clash between members of a cult group and men of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Ijebu-Igbo in which no fewer than six persons, including a police inspector were killed.

The latest incident was said to have occurred after a hot argument that ensued during a football match at LA Primary School, Oke-Agbo, in Ijebu-Igbo.

It was gathered that the victim, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was given a hot pursuit before he was hacked to death.

The assailants, suspected to be members of Eiye Confraternity, were said to have fled the scene after hitting their target.

“The incident happened this (Sunday) evening when some youths were playing football on the primary school field. It was during the match that a score of them engaged in a serious argument and before anyone knew what was happening, the whole place was on rampage.

“We had to run for our dear lives. It was later that we got information that one person was killed. The victim suffered deep machete cuts inflicted on him. No one had expected a such killing would occur again, bearing in mind that policemen and other security operatives had been deployed in the town about a week ago,” said a source.

In continuation of its fulfillment to athletes, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Sports presented cash awards to medalists at the XXI Commonwealth games in Gold Coast, Australia..

Gold medalists got 5,000 dollars, silver winners smiled home with 3,000 while Bronze medalists were rewarded with 2,000 dollars for their efforts.

The brief ceremony was supervised by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung while presentations were made by the former Head of state and FG leader of delegation to the games, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) alongside Nigeria Olympic Committee President, Engineer Habu Gumel.

Meanwhile, in his usual fashion, the enigmatic President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Honorable Daniel Igali presented a cash reward of $1,000 dollar each to all gold medalists in addition to the Federal Government cash.

A freak and ghastly motor accident happened this afternoon in Lagos due to break failure. A man who was driving the Mercedes-Benz 4matic car - lost control of the vehicle and almost crashed into some shops.

According to James Adeshina, the driver was unconscious for over 30 minutes and nobody could take them to the hospital as they were reportedly taking pictures of the accident until he and one bus driver helped him to the nearest clinic.

The driver has regained consciousness and is beating treated as at the time of filing this report.

Today police rescued the life of a one year old toddler after the father of the child threw her from the roof of a shack structure during a demolition process conducted by the Nelson Mandela Metro Municipality in South Africa.

This followed after a demolition operation started in the Joe Slovo West area in Kwadwesi. SAPS and Metro Police were deployed to ensure the safety of the Metro Team doing the demolishing.

A 38-year-old man, climbed onto the roof of one of the structures and held his one year old girl in his hands. This he did to force the team not to demolish the structure. Due to the dangerous threat to the safety of the child, police set out a plan of rescue of the girl and to arrest the male.

After security operatives surrounded the structure and having an officer attempt to talk the man(father) down from the roof for a few minutes, the rescue attempt ensued. As the man was grabbed by police, he threw his child off the roof.

Fortunately, a member of Metro Police caught the girl and the father was arrested.

The 38-year-old father will be charged for attempted murder of his daughter. The case will be investigated by the Motherwell Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit. The child will be handed back to her 35-year-old mother while Social Work Services will oversee and give assistance.

The untimely demise of a 26-year-old lawyer identified as Royal Eselu Ngaobiwu, shocked his family, friends and colleagues who were present for his burial on Wednesday, April 11th. The young vibrant barrister, from Owerri, Imo state, died after a brief illness days ago.

He was buried on yesterday . Many of his learned colleagues were all there to pay their respects.

The deceased who worked at JTU Nnodum SAN & Co before his death - graduated from the Imo State University, Owerri, IMSU and went to Nigerian Law School, Abuja

This is really shocking. A houseboy/farmhand was left pleading for his life after maggots came from his private parts after allegedly sleeping with his master's wife. According to trending media reports, his employer sought services from a witch doctor to help him deal with the houseboy for his 'action'.

The shocking incident reportedly happened in Busia County, Kenya....

It was reported that the houseboy had been warned by the estranged husband, Pascal Ouma after allegedly bragging about his sexual prowess in the bedroom severally.

According to K24, Mr. Ouma, who had earlier sacked the farmhand, sought services from a witch doctor to help him deal with the menace.

From a video, the houseboy is seen down on his knees in agony begging for his life and praying while surrounded shocked onlookers.

The Kogi State Police Command has dismissed a police sergeant, Ibrahim Isah, for allegedly killing a ram seller , Ali Ibrahim Mbaba, at Ganaja village, and arraigned him before a Lokoja Chief Magistrate court. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ali Janga, had ordered the dismissal and arraignment of Isah for culpable homicide.

Isah, who was arraigned by the police before a Chief Magistrate court on Tuesday, on a count bordering on culpable homicide, was remanded in custody for the alleged offence.

The charges were read to the accused, the Chief Magistrate, levy Animoku, cautioned him as he cried uncontrollably inside the court before his case was mentioned.

According to Amuda Dan Sulaiman, the accused, who was brought to the magistrate’s court in handcuffs, cried profusely on the premises.

“What have I done to myself? What did I do? Call my wife for me,” he said.

The charges read, “That you, Ibrahim Isah, on March 13, 2018, at about 4.00 pm, one Muhammed Jibril of BB Umar Live Stoke Market Ganaja, Lokoja, reported at ‘C' Division Lokoja and State Intelligence and Investigation Department alleging that on the same day, he was in the market at Ganaja Village, Lokoja when he saw one man later known and identified as Ex-Sgt. Ibrahim Isah who was riding a motorcycle knockdown one Rabiat Bello, a pedestrian and in the process a group of mobs gathered and an argument ensured between them.

The complainant stated further that the said Ex-Sgt. Ibrahim Isah invited his team members from the Anti-Kidnaping Squad of Kogi State Police Command, Lokoja to come to his rescue but while waiting the said Ex-Sgt. Ibrahim Isah took his Rifle and shot at the tarred road to scare away the mobs but a stray bullet hit one Ali Ibrahim at the chest and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja but died while receiving treatment. Investigation led to the arrest of Ex-Sgt. Ibrahim Isah, he made statement and thereby arraigned.

“Thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Arguing for the rejection of his bail, the prosecution counsel, Barrister Muhammed Sanni Inuwa, submitted that the offense committed by the dismissed police officer was not a bailiable one.

He then moved an application for the adjournment of the case to enable him prepare and bring other witnesses to court.

Animoku, who immediately declined jurisdiction of the court to handle the matter, directed the court registrar to transfer the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The chief magistrate granted the application and remanded the suspect in prison, just as he adjourned the matter till May 9, 2018, for further hearing.

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Enobong Okon Udoh on Monday 9 April 2018, paraded some impostors and criminals arrested within his Area of Responsibility in Lagos and Ogun states recently. They were paraded at the Headquarters 81 Division.

Parading the impostors and criminals on behalf of the General Officer Commanding was Brigadier General Hamisu Hassan the Chief of Staff of the Division.

As revealed by Brigadier General Hamisu, the impostors were arrested in several parts of Lagos and Ogun states by various Operation CHECKMATE Teams of 81 Division operating clandestinely, while they were carrying out their nefarious activities dressed in different types of Nigeria military uniforms, accessories and other accoutrements.

Also arrested by the indefatigueable Operation CHECKMATE Team were criminals who aided and abetted these impostors by making and supplying them with fake military ID cards and the military accoutrements donned by them to perpetrate their nefarious activities.

Some long deserted as well as dismissed personnel of the Services of Armed Forces who impersonated Service personnel of various rank categories are also among those arrested and paraded by the Division. He further revealed that the frequency of occurrence which was indeed very high about two months ago was now on the decrease since the inception of the “Special Operation CHECK MATE” launched by the General Officer Commanding on his assumption of office.

It could be recalled that these criminal impostors are constantly perpetrating criminal activities such as extortion, molestation of innocent citizens, intervening in private disputes between aggrieved parties for pecuniary gains, settlement of land disputes etcetera, which tend to portray the Nigeria Army in particular and the Nigerian Armed Forces in general to the public in bad light as they commit such criminal and illegal activities in military uniform thus giving the false impression of being bona-fide military personnel to their victims and other unsuspecting law - abiding citizens.

In so doing, these criminal impostors cause undue and unfair public opinions and outrage against the Nigerian Army by reason of criminal acts that were clearly perpetrated by them.

The Authorities of 81 Division hereby urges members of the public to always beware of imposters and to always reach out and call the numbers below whenever in doubt or whenever they see persons in uniform engaged in any form of illegality.
