Unknown gunmen have killed an unidentified young man in cold-blood after attacking him on Sunday in Calabar, Cross River state capital. According to reports, the deceased was whisked away from his residential area by the gunmen who arrived in a tricycle popularly called Keke Napep after cornering him at the junction.

He was reportedly shot at close range in the head and also in his abdomen, before he fell and died on the spot.

While some say the attack was cult related, multiple reports have it that the gruesome murder has been linked to a romantic tussle for a lady between the deceased and another unidentified man. It was reported that the deceased was wooed out to the open by the lady.

A sitting lawmaker in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Asukwo Archibong has been accused of retrieving his empowerment vehicle from his constituent in Urue Offing Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

According to Joseph Atainyang who shared the news, the lawmaker did the retrieval Thursday in Oron Town as the beneficiary, Hon Okokon Iyanam, the International President of Urue Offong/Oruko Grassroot Foundation (UOGF) was returning from a consultative meeting of another aspirant into the state constituency.

Iyanam who is a former council chairman of the area and currently the chapter secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, allegedly said that, Archibong intercepted him at Efiat Lane while he was driving back from the meeting venue.

His words, "I think he was laying ambush on me. As I was driving out of the premises of the meeting before dusk, Asukwo Archibong intercepted me with his official vehicle with four armed Mobil police men as well as his Personal Assistant".

"They asked me to come out of the vehicle, as I came out, one of them immediately jumped into the car and drove off. Some people who were at the street at that time saw when it happened. He did not give me the receipt of the vehicle. He knows what he is doing. He was careful not to give the receipt for any of the empowerment items to any beneficiary".

Iyanam said that Archibong did not give him any reason for getting the car back from him.

Dropping the news on the social media (Facebook) three days back, Isaac Mefo, a constituent in the area described the unfortunate situation as barbaric and shameful.

He called on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, as well as the media community in the state to immediately rise in condemnation of the act.

He exclaimed, "What a barbaric and shameful act by Hon. Asukwo Archibong, Member Rep Urue Offong/Oruko in AKHA?"

"I received a call yesterday that the so called car gift Hon. Archibong gave to Hon Iyanam, current PDP chapter secretary and former head of council, during his constituency briefing was retrieved from him yesterday". "He said that, Hon Iyanam is not supporting his second term bid. The Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, The Speaker of AKHA, Rt (Hon) Onofiok Luke and the Akwa Ibom State Media Community must hear this".

A Kano based gallant police officer, Usman Chindo, has revealed how he nearly killed his family as a result of accidental discharge as he weighed in on the Ekiti shooting which occurred on Friday, June 1. A police officer was said to have shot member of the seventh House of Representatives and erstwhile governorship aspirant; Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) while trying to shoot the APC governorship aspirant; Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti state yesterday.

While some say the gun fire was an accidental discharge, others are arguing it was an assassination attempt.

As I read about the accidental discharge that almost killed APC gubernatorial aspirant in Ekiti State. I remember how I almost killed my family as a result of unintentional or accidental discharge.

It was in 2013, I came back home with my AK-47 Double Magazine, hungry and tired, I had forgotten to unload it as I entered my apartment. (#mistake1). My #2mistake was not noticing that it was in DOUBLE action mode: the hammer had been cocked ( an indicator is telling you am ready fa). I always triple and quadruple check the chamber and magazine before getting my finger anywhere near the trigger. I have been so paranoid with gun safety over the years.

But that day, I unintentionally or rather my village people put my finger on the trigger, and gave a slight squeeze. #Mistake 3. I always follow “Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy” but that day, my rifle was pointing at my new Samsung LED 48Inch Smart TV.

As I subconsciously pulled the trigger, two rounds of 7.62mm went through my TV and box spring, clipped the edge of my drawer, bounced off the concrete floor, and splintered and embedded itself in the baseboard wood and the concrete behind it. When I realized what I had done, my immediate response was to make sure everyone was okay. Everyone was, thank you God, and forgive my stupidity. My wife and kids were still sleeping in the bedroom, they like all who live in barracks are normally accustomed to the sound of gunfire, so none of them woke up from the sound.

I feel nothing but shame and embarrassment as I have always held myself to the standard of the safest when it comes to firearms. I cannot even believe myself. However, you guys can hold the sarcasm. This incident has been a secret between just me and my AK (and my TV, floor, and wall). Negligent discharges aren’t supposed to happen to responsible officers like me. They only happen to idiots, or so I thought. One small oversight can produce life-ending or changing consequences. I have learned my lesson. I hope others don’t need to learn it this way.

Confusion and fear gripped residents of Ibadan, Oyo state after an Islamic cleric popularly known as Alfa Ola-Shehu died mysteriously. According to reports, the Alfa slumped and died in an unexplainable circumstance at Oremeji Express to the shock of passaersby and residents.

He was rushed to the hospital by some people who gathered around as he was later confirmed dead.

An alarm has been raised after an unusual item made by a primary school pupil was discovered in Maiduguri, Borno state capital. It was gathered that a gun (rifle) model was made by a primary four student who used rods from classroom chairs for his construction.

The item was recovered from the pupil and confiscated by the school authorities.

The Facebook user who shared the pictures - didn't reveal whether any action was taken against the pupil.

A driver of Oyo State-owned mass transit bus yesterday killed a secondary school pupil in Ibadan. The accident, which attracted other pupils, resulted in a mob attack on the bus, popularly called Ajumose. People vandalised the vehicle by smashing the windscreen and side mirror. The mob attacked the driver, a middle-aged man, who was injured.

The accident occurred near Lafia Hospital, Mokola, Ibadan. The unidentified driver was said to have also injured pupils.

A witness said: “The traffic was light. Pupils were going home. Suddenly, the bus appeared and hit them, killing a secondary school girl. Passengers alighted, but the mob apprehended the driver. He was beaten up before the police rescued him.”

The police command spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said: “The driver is in our custody. He has been taken to Police Hospital, Eleyele, Ibadan. “The body of the pupil has been deposited at Alafia Hospital morgue. Investigation has begun.”

A notorious car snatcher/thief met his Waterloo following a failed robbery operation in Awka, Anambra state. According to reports, the suspected thief was apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Police Force while trying to make away with a Toyota Camry Car around Diamond Bank Expressway.

He was beaten mercilessly by the security operatives and later taken into custody.

A man identified as Mr Apkan, was arraigned in a court in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state for incessantly sexually abusing his four daughters for years, the eldest daughter is 16 years while the youngest daughter is just 2 years. According to FIDA, International Federation of Women Lawyers, the suspect's wife, Mrs Apkan, said she had reported the incessant defilement of her daughters by her husband to his relatives severally but all fell on deaf ears.

The matter was later reported to FIDA who took it up and charged the man to court.

Pandemonium has broken out in Agudama Epie in Bayelsa after aggrieved Ijaw youths descended on a lady who allegedly confessed to have poisoned her sister-in-law, a 37-year-old mother of eight children named Pinaere Promise from Ndoro In Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state.

The deceased Pinaere Promise reportedly collapsed on Sunday morning and died some minutes on her way to the hospital.

According to reports, it was said that the lady in the picture identified as Mama Torufa allegedly confessed to have poisoned the deceased after she started acting funny and had swollen face coupled with some sickness following the burial of her late sister-in-law.

It was disclosed that Mama Torufa's hands got paralyzed a night before service of songs for the victim and was absent from her home for two days.

The woman's absence coupled with the strange ailments prompted people to ask her daughter about her whereabouts, that was when the news broke that suspect, Mama Torufa, was in a church across the creek of Agudama, Opposite law school and had confessed to being responsible for the death of the sister-in-law that was buried last Friday in Ndoro town.

After the youths got wind of the situation, the youths descended on the woman's home and destroyed her properties.

Relatives of the deceased this morning stormed the said church where she was and vandalized it after they couldn't see her.

The police are yet to arrive the scene.

The death of a military personnel based in Lagos has left his friends and colleagues in sorrow. A seaman at the Nigerian Navy has revealed how he's scared to die young following the demise of his friend, course mate and colleague popularly known by his nickname Okpomozo. The naval personnel, Ede Fidelis, took to social media to mourn the death his military friend who passed away recently in an undisclosed circumstance.

This is really heartbreaking. According to a report, suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked and almost killed a young pregnant woman in Yogbo town Makurdi, Benue state capital on Sunday evening. The woman was said to be with her husband when the attacked happened as he escaped when they started shooting.

According to Benjamin Amaechi, the attackers used used sticks to pierce through her private part to kill the unborn child. They also pulled out the child and her womb after which they beat her and left her to die.

When soldiers went to pick her corpse upon her husband’s report, it was discovered that she's still alive and she was rushed to Bishop Murray Hospital for treatment.

This is very sad. Many were were killed in a fatal accident which happened on Saturday, May 26 along Ohafia Abam in Abia state Nigeria. According to reports, the tragic incident which caused a scene in the area - claimed the lives of 7 passengers in a Passat car and 2 persons on a motorcycle.

Two persons who were trapped in the car were later confirmed dead after they were brought out by rescuers.

According to information gathered, the driver from Asaga whose wife reportedly gave birth to a baby girl was killed in the crash including a newly wed lady who just did her traditional marriage few days ago and was on her way going back to Umuahia, Abia state capital.

The accident was said to have caused a sorrow in the community with many coming to see the victims for themselves.

A new born baby went missing in Peniel Maternity and Clinic popularly known as (Mummy's hospital) Anyigba in Dekina LGA - Kogi State. According to Fitumi a relative to the husband, the baby was delivered early hour on Sunday and got missing after few hours. She added that, the child was under the care of the nurse on duty before the sudden disappearance of the child.

When the nurse was reportedly interrogated, she couldn't explain vividly how it occurred as she was taken to Anyigba Police station for official investigation.

The mother, Joy Idah Mudi disclosed that, she didn't see her child before she got missing because of the improper arrangement of the Maternity. She added that they put her in a separate ward and latter heard this shocking news.

Hundreds of people gathered at Anyigba Police Station demanding the transfer of the maternity nurse to the vigilante officials for torturing.
