A young man survived death after trying to kill himself yesterday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state after climbing a high tension wire. According to information gathered, the apparently disturbed man was begged with one million naira by those who were there including the director of Omega Power Ministry - just for him to come down from the pole but the young man refused and was finally electrocuted in the process.

He eventually fell down from the pole after being electrocuted.

A 10-year-old boy was allegedly beaten with an iron rod and wires by his step-mother for reportedly taking a N20 pap which was meant for her own daughter. According to Maria Mordi Gomes‎, the constant beating of the boy was so much that his school teacher had to call her to come to the boy's aid.

Maria revealed that she promptly visited the school to see the boy for herself as she got his father and step-mother arrested and taking to the Human rights center in Lagos where they were detained.

It was revealed that the father later signed to release the boy indefinitely to his own mother who can be seen with her son in the picture.

The boy has since left for Kwara to join his mum after he was fully treated at the Ikorodu general hospital, Lagos .

A suspected kidnapper was seriously dealt with after he was caught with two children he allegedly abducted in Imo state. According to reports, the man was apprehended by members of the Ihiagwa vigilante group in Owerri West who beat him mercilessly with cutlasses after he was tied up.

The suspect was later handed over to the police for further investigations and the rescued children reunited with their people.

Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a 200 level student of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH. It was reported that the student named Kisha Emmanuel Adah from the department of Civil Engineering was kidnapped by his abductors on Tuesday after being trailed by a taxi at the University gate in Calabar, the state capital.

According to reports, it was gathered that the young student in his late teens was trailed from an outing he took part in with two friends.

One of his friends,said, “Emmanuel was abducted in the taxi he used while on his way back from school”, while another who pleaded anonymity said, “he came as far as the school gate before he was abducted”.

The kidnappers, according to reports - have demanded a sum of fifteen million Naira (N15, 000,000) as ransom for his release.

The state Ogun state Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, paraded the deadliest and most dreaded cultist in the history of cultism in Ogun State, 23-year old Gbenga Ogunsanya, a.k.a Spartacus who confessed to killing over nine persons in the last one year. He was paraded yesterday alongside 40 other suspected criminals at the state Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Spartacus, a dreaded name in Ogun state, and goes by the title of 'butcher' in the Aiye Confraternity, was arrested on April 12, 2018 in the Sabo area of the gateway state.

Most of the suspects paraded were cultists, who cashed in on secret cult to commit either murder robbery and ritual.

Others were alleged to have outrightly been nabbed for armed robbery, car theft, burglary and stealing, as well as illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Virtually, all suspects showcased at the briefing were nabbed by men of the Adams Uba-led Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

Recovered from the hoodlums were 28 firearms, comprising AK 47 and locally-made guns, 49 ammunition and other weapons like battle axes, cutlasses, knives, hammers and charms.

Also recovered were some of the items stolen from victims, such as a Toyota Corolla car, a Bajaj motorcycle, handsets and laptops.

The CP, however, reassured the citizenry that, "our commitment to your security will never abate. Therefore, I advice everyone to go about their businesses without fear or apprehension", while also soliciting for continued partnership with the police by availing them with timely and useful information that would further help to nip crime in the bud...

The brother to the lady who was killed by her lover in Oshodi, Lagos and her body dumped in a bucket - has spoken out following the tragic incident. The suspect named Isaiah Chukwu allegedly killed his 26-year-old lover, identified as Joy Ozoemena, over alleged infidelity at their residence on Balogun Street, Oshodi and stuffed her corpse into a bin.

It was reported that Chukwu and Joy, both indigenes of Ebonyi State, had been living together without formalising the relationship. .He had dragged the body around 4am to the ground floor of the house en route to a dust bin when he was accosted by some youths.

The deceased's brother has taken to Facebook to mourn his loss. Read below

She was no longer a girlfriend as her BRIDE PRICE WAS JUST PAID LAST MONTH AND OZOEMENA JUST RETURNED TO LAGOS WITH THE GUY. The deceased lady was my sister from Umuayom , Umuobeye , Nkalaha in Ishielu local goverment area of Ebonyi State where we were both born and brought up .

The last post she made on Facebook was on the 16th of this month with her username , Nina Joy-Seraph. The first child of her parents. . The last time I travelled to the village , I did asked her mother about her and she said she was fine .

My peace has eluded me . I cannot articulate my thought . For a certain lady who is busy peddling the rumour that the deceased (Oz) recked the guy financially and wanted to jilt him , I need to tell you that Oz's bride price was paid recently and she was brutality killed by the guy for what from every indication was for ritual purpose .. Pray neither you nor your sisters will be a victim of this kind of horror . I can recall how this girl went with her poor mother to work on people's farms to make ends meet.

She had her secondary education at the only secondary school in our village . Her mother had lost so many children before her birth , hence the name Ozoemena which means let another one not happen ,given to her .How will I get over this ? This cannibalism ............ I feel like writing on materialism and human absurdism , I feel like attacking certain greedy and desperate cowards called men who make ladies their sacrificial lambs but I cannot get my words.......Oz, Rest in peace...

A man has narrated how violence would have erupted today at Onitsha Main Market in Anambra state after a Hausa man allegedly fought with a group of Igbo men following a disagreement. Ekwegbalu Nnamdi who witnessed the incident - took to Facebook to narrate what happened. Read below;

An ordinary incidence would have deteriorated into a violent demonstration today in Onitsha Main Market. And the incidence was as follows: a certain Hausa man allegedly was said to have been beaten by a group of Igbo men, reason being that he allegedly threw a metal pipe at a group of persons merely because they had asked him to carry his load with ease. Angrily some of those men resorted to fighting the Hausa man.

The Hausa man however, speedily ran to the barracks to bring military men. The soldiers without hesitation landed in the market and bundled a certain unsuspecting man into their truck. The man allegedly wasn't part of the incidence, but was unlucky to have been found at the scene of the incidence as of the time the soldiers arrived.

In response to the action, the people demonstrated that truly "Igwebuike" {Unity is Strength}. They quickly rallied round the military truck and refused that it would bundle this innocent Civilian to the barracks with them.

The soldiers however started threatening to invock violence. The matter would have gotten exponentially worse, as the people were determined to see to it that the worse happened, citing the injustice which daily is being meted on the Igbo race: from Boko Haram attacks, to the onslaught by Fulani Herdsman. They then wondered, how it is that these soldiers who were heavily armed responded quickly, merely because it was there fellow Hausa who brought the complaint.

As the tension continued to escalate and more people gathered to the scene, whereas the soldiers were equally undeterred. The chairman of Onitsha Main Market, Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu swiftly intervenened, by descending to the arena like a Lion, requesting that the matter be brought to his office without delay, and with wisdom presided over the issue.

Long story cut short, the man was eventually not taken to the barracks as planned. Lesson to learn, when there is a strong leadership it acts as a deterrent to chaos. But then a point to ponder: Do these soldiers really react this speedily when a man who is not their kinsmen brings a report of an injustice to them or was it merely motivated by ethinic sentiment?

The Lagos State Police Command is investigating a case of defilement reported against 73-year-old Pa Fola Olowoigbo, of No.2 Fela Ahmed street, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos. The suspect was alleged to have defiled a 14-year-old female child till she became pregnant.

The suspect who hailed from Ago- Iwoye, Ogun state is a local taxi driver and next door neighbour to the child's mother.
It was said that the victim was always sent on errands by the suspect unknown to the mother that he had ulterior motives.

Meanwhile, the parents of little Miss Ramudantu Matimu, a 2-year old female child, has a lot to be thankful for as the little girl was yesterday, 22nd May, 2018, rescued from the hands of one Elizabeth Ibezim who allegedly took the child away without the consent of her mother.

The incident took place at Yam market, Mile 12 Ketu, Lagos, where the child was taken away unknown to her mother who was busy selling her wares at the popular market.

When she eventually noticed that her child was missing, she became frantic and a search party was immediately raised to help her find her child.

Luck, however, ran out on the suspect when she was spotted with the child on her back by the baby's mother who was in a near state of hysteria, as the suspect was about to board a commercial vehicle at Under-the- bridge bus stop Ketu, a reasonable distance from where the child was taken.

The desperate mum rushed to the suspect and struggled to collect the baby from her, raising the alarm which attracted a mob that nearly lynched the woman save for the quick intervention of a Police team stationed strategically near the market place to provide round the clock security.

The case is currently under investigation at the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command.

This is new. A man has been denied certificate of ownership of a snake after the reptile was labelled a 'magical' one. The Department of National Parks and Wildlife in Zambia closed the case in which Rabson Mkandawire a.k.a Dr Simbazako who had applied for a certificate of ownership following his arrest for possession of a snake.

This means that the department will not issue the certificate to him after a consideration that what he has is not a natural occurring snake but a magical one.

According the Wildlife Act No 14 of 2015, the department’s mandate is to look after natural resources that belong to the President on behalf of the Zambian people.

There is therefore no way, it would stretch into matters of inherited snakes or hyenas or anything magical that cannot be handed-over or proved to be natural.

The department stands ready to issue out certificates of ownership to traditional healers who have real wildlife artifacts or wildlife products for their practice.

The gang that allegedly terminated the life of SUPOL Chukwueggu Kingsley - has been caught and paraded at Rivers State Police Command. According to reports, the suspect wearing the yellow polo with black stripes allegedly pulled the trigger.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Rumuorlumeni Police Division Rivers State, Superintendent Kingsley Chukwueegu was killed last month on his way back from a trip after he was attacked and later shot by the gunmen while trying to escape.

He later died at the University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital UPTH in Rivers state.

The Governor of Cross River State Sen Ben Ayade has received praises from the family and community of the gang rape victim for directing the Attorney General of Cross River State Barr. Joe Abang to immediately provide Lawyers that has been representing the victim of the Ikom gang rape incident in Court. It would be recalled that the Governor has earlier directed the state Attorney General to prosecute the perpetrators that raped a young married woman in Okuni, Ikom.

The gang rape happened at cocoa farm in Okuni, where the victims husband and brother were tied up at Gun point while Their wife was ganged raped in front of her husband until she passed out.

April this year, Okuni women had marched in thousands to protest the ugly situation which alerted the state government to respond to the case.

As a follow up to relieve the victim of emotional and psychological trauma, The Governor of Cross River State Sen. Ben Ayade has given a huge financial support to the victim to start up a business through the DG of Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Betta Edu.

Presenting the funds, the DG said “when people faces this kind of situation, there are always depressed as such someone must show them love so that they don’t die in their dilemma. The Governor has asked Me to give you this money to enable you start up a good business so that you can fend for yourself and family. He wants your family to be financial independent”

The victim,who happily received the money, continuously thank God for sending the Governor through Dr. Betta Edu to her rescue. “Ma, please tell the Governor we are very grateful, God sent him to me and many CROSS Riverians at this time. May God continue to bless him and prosper you too the more!

A family had to undergo traditional ritual after a father was caught having sex with his own daughter, who is said to barely 14 years old. According to reports, the shameless act had been going on since the girl was 9-years-old. The shocking incident reportedly happened in Grand-Bassam area in Ivory Coast/Côte d’Ivoire..

To prevent bad luck from befalling the man's family, a ritual was required. Both daughter and father were rubbed with mud as they killed and divided a live sheep in two. While holding each part of the animal, they wereparaded round the village.

What would have otherwise been a devastating suicide bomb attack on a mosque in Gashua village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state has been successfully foiled today by vigilant members of the community.

A female Boko Haram suicide bomber had infiltrated the mosque, while members were about to commence a prayer session but was detected when struggling to detonate a suicide vest strapped to her body. She was quickly restrained by the locals, arrested and handed over to troops at Azare.

Members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Component of Operation Lafiya Dole at the location have safely defused the suicide vest, while the suicide bomber is currently receiving medical attention due to injuries sustained during her arrest.

A Nigerian man visited the British Museum to request that the Benin kingdom artifacts which were allegedly stolen since the 1980's, be returned. The entrepreneur and philanthropist, Ambassador Dion Osagie from Edo state - revealed that his visit to the museum on the quest of recovering the items was worth more than anything to him.

The British museum boasts the second largest collection of art from the Benin kingdom after the Ethnological Museum in Berlin.

It has been reported that the British Museum will host a summit along with other European museums to discuss the return of bronze artifacts looted in 1897 from the kingdom of Benin, now southern Nigeria. It will conduct negotiations with Nigeria and Benin about returning the items which are expected to go on permanent display in Benin City.

In the late 19th century, Britain sought to wipe out the kingdom of Benin in what became known as the “punitive expedition.” When Oba Ovonramwen, then ruler of Benin, imposed customs duties on goods leaving the territory, Britain sent 1,200 soldiers to destroy the kingdom as a form of reparations for the colonial power.

The city was set on fire and hundreds of trinkets, bronze sculptures, and valuables were stolen and later handed to the British government. Through trade and art dealership, these artifacts have mostly ended up in Germany and the United States.
