According to what my grandma said...there is a curse laid down for any Ondo/Ekiti marrying from Ogun. If they disobey, either d man or the woman will die untimely and I think v seen like 2 cases. so @op if u're frm Ondo/Ekiti and u really luv ur Ogun woman, 'll advice u pray very well to break every ancestral curse cos with God all things are possible.
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin I have heard it all

I guess this curse is selective cos I know an ekiti woman that has been married to an ijebu man for 36 years, I guess the curse is still gathering momentum grin grin grin grin grin grin

@Op I beg you in the name of anything you serve pls dont marry from Ogun state .

Be it Ijebu Egba awori or anyone from Ogun state.

My reasons ? They are as promiscous as a dog.

Both men and women.

Thier married women specialise in having multiple partners even as married women. Worst case is that thier parents will even encourage them to do it.

I am from Ibadan and I have been living in Abeokuta for the past 6 years.

Even in church and my place of work. Their women and men are as promiscous as anything

Trust me on this ....I wish you the best
UHHHM gosh I am short of words to respond to this post.

FamilyRe: My Wife Doesn't Work Yet Dinner Is Never Ready Before 9pm by damiso(f): 10:44am On Sep 14, 2016
I guess no one is really perfect and if those are her shortcomings you probably have to reach a compromise and help her to gradually change( it wont be overnight).Time management is a skill that one acquires with time and maybe you can help her with setting up a routine. I have been a stay at home mum and sometimes the feeling that you have more time when the kids are not home kind of lulls you into thinking you can do things later. And you find out that you don't. So you have to make sure the time is allocated and structured.

I have always needed structure to my day and that structure is what is still helping me now working full time, running a business and also running the home. Like some people have mentioned maybe bulk cooking of the food that require longer prep might help. Also pre prepping foods and freezing cuts down cooking time ( though I understand the power situation in Nigeria makes it a bit harder). I bulk boil/grill meat and put them in packs so making stew is just bringing out a pack, blending pepper voila stew is ready in 20/30 mins max. I don't think I spend over 30 mins in the kitchen on weekdays but that means on some weekends I spend 6 hours in there washing and boiling meat, cleaning and portioning fish, chopping, slicing, cooking and freezing so that I have a respite for a couple of weeks. That way even hubby sef can just throw things together if he gets in before me.

She needs structure to her day and it will take time for her to get used to it but you can help with her it. You can use tools like her phone( I have reminders for everything ), even a jotter ( if she will remember to look at it ) and maybe you even sending her prompter text messages.

I have a schedule on my fridge so I cant go in to get milk and not see that the kids have dress up day on the 13th, dentist appointment, gp appointment, swimming lesson, bake day, kumon etc. I also know what weekends will be lighter than the other. So I slot in things that prepare me for the week or next few weeks. I even have days to do which laundry.( darks and coloured on Thursday and whites/lights on Friday). etc.

So help her draw up a schedule e.g Monday grocery shopping for the food for the week, sort the kids uniform for the week ahead, etc. A food timetable might also help as that will eliminate the dilly dallying on what to cook.

You say she is a good wife ,please bear with her and help her where she seems weak. Others have also suggested talking to her of the health issues that come with eating late so i think you should explore that as well.

It takes 21 days to form a habit and if she can follow a schedule for 21 days consecutively you will see that she will eventually get there. Maybe not as perfect as a naturally organised person but at least it will be better. Organised people( you seem like one) naturally cant get people who are not but I guess that what makes life interesting- our differences.

And that was the most annoying thing
She was a social tenant (Many landords do not even rent to people on benefits) but we did
The council came and asked for so many changes which we did
Her house was even safer than ours grin

The council paid her housing benefit but she was pocketing it and buying ipads and doing Brazilian
We went to the council to complain severally but they brought out the data protection card and wouldn't discuss it

Then when we made moves to evict they decided to back the tenant because they didn't want another homeless person on their books
We've decided never to rent to social tenants again
because councils will frustrate you especially if you are the type that follows the law. (Someone we knew just changed the lock of his house when his tenants owed him money shocked )
needless to say that we wont see a penny of those arrears and court fees
As we can only get £5 a month out of her benefits.
in 100 years ko ti san gbese yen tan.
£5 a month ke shocked shocked Na wa o..

Its better i.e. not renting to social tenants anymore jare not worth the hassle.

The truth is that the Govt/council indulge them so they too take a mile
When one of our tenants was owing us thousands in rent arrears and we wanted to evict her, the council told her what to say and even gave her a form to complete to say that she was contesting the eviction.
It was only God that helped us in Court that day.
To now add salt to the injury, even though we won the case, the council advised her not to move out until bailiffs threw her out.
To add even more salt to the injury they wrote us a letter a month later asking for a reference for her as she had presented at their offices saying that she was homeless grin
I sometimes think that robots work in the council.
I feel you sis but one thing you also have to consider is there are not enough social housing units anymore. So they will employ any delay tactics to put off having to house anyone as long as they still have a physical roof over their head.

Its frustrating as a landlord but even social landlords face these issues too albeit in different forms.

I am not one to demonise people in receipt or in need of benefits but there are people really playing the system. It is getting harder though and even though I am not the greatest fan of the tory party I must admit certain policies they introduced will eventually reduce such incidences in the long term.

This family are lucky they are not in a London borough grin London Councils don't send anybody anymore. Budgets are tight so you be doing any kain shakara you are on your own.

Damiso na so ooooo
They always know their rights even more than the oyibo's sef grin
Meanwhile the NHS is falling to bits, yet they are spending money on Hilton hotel room service
Sometimes I blame the govt/council more than the people who take advantage.
Its very annoying angry I get more and more annoyed especially cos I encounter them everyday. Is it the ones that will say they cant speak English when you schedule meetings/assessment but miracously learn English when they go to a solicitor? Or the ones who will fight you and tell you what they want despite the fact that they are not contributing a penny after you have told them the limited budget you are working with ? or the ones who write to the prime minister, MP, councillor, the queen, in short Obama sef angry despite the fact that they have been given various options that are within the budget allocated? like seriously you can have anything you want in this life as long as you are paying for it.If you are not paying for it, sometimes you have to compromise and accept what you are given till you are in the position to dictate.

The sense of entitlement is mind boggling. And what annoys me about the daily wail is their stories are often one sided cos loads of native brits are also like this.

Tearoses we have one at work at the moment with God knows how many children in a 6 bed house ( I never even knew there were 6 bed social housing units shocked) ok we are have a major refurb project and are looking to decant them to temp accommodation while works are going on. do you know he is insisting that he wont move out till we get another 6 bed house to move them to like seriously angry angry angry angry and there are deadlines to meet angry angry so very annoying at the sense of entitlement angry Its always them that throw spanner into works cheesy

I think it really depends on the personality of the person one intends to marry and the family.

There are marriages from hell where both the husband and wife come from the same village / street, and there are enviable marriages made in heaven where the couple come from completely different backgrounds / countries / continents.

Cc: Mindfulness, Ngokafor, Damiso
I agree with you. Humans naturally tend to feel comfortable around people who speak, look sound and behave like them. However it will work if all parties come into the union with a mind-set that is willing to compromise and is open to the fact that this person/family might do things differently from me.

I don't even know where to begin to respond to your last post. I am a christian with a live and let live view of life. I don't take the Bible literally and don't think anyone should. I am indifferent to homosexuals and ambivalent to the whole idea of heaven and hell. The point I am tryna make is that the non-religious and the religious are all culpable for the Nigerian problem, that peculiar Nigerian problem is the reason why you are made to pray before a meeting or religious folks may jump you if you openly refer to yourself as an atheist; it has nothing to do with religion or faith or prayers. Wo, I am tired of this matter, it's been a while since posted epistles on NL.

Stumbled on your post from following Damiso and looking for her trouble.

First thing I wanna do is to give you a big hug and tell you not to be sad or have any regrets.
Yeah, you probably feel you could have achieved much more if you had not listened to him but trust me, there is never going to be a perfect life. Even if you had not slowed down and climbed the career ladder in a geometric progression, there is every probability you would still wish you had done some things differently or maybe something out of your control would have slowed you down. Life is never going to be perfect, It was designed to be perfect.

I am probably that kind of person you would think has it all career and family wise but trust me, maybe if I bare it all to you, you would know there's no perfect life. The grass only looks greener on the other side. Despite where I am, I wish I had not taken some steps in life but when those thoughts come, I quickly discard them and tell myself, those "wrong" steps I think I took have led me to a better place and made me a better person so no regrets. The journey of life is a very personal one.
