Chillisauce:I don't get how people can see fingernail? fingernail ?do you know how you much you have to zoom to see fingernail Geez SMHYou are right though social media is a new avenue for people to project their insecurities and dissatisfaction with their own lives. I guess it comes with the territory though. In as much as I think celebrities can do better sometimes (they too Mis yarn and misbehave on social media) i also sometimes feel sorry for them with the abuse they get. The amount of shades Banky W has gotten today ehn na wa.We don't know if Caroline is gunning to become a senator so these one that is calling her hubby dog is just saying her own. |
Chillisauce:Those her insults chai Sometimes though I think some of these people who take delight in bashing celebrities are just sad people.its like 'oh their lives are great ' 'oh wait it's not that great her hubby is cheating yippee'. I was on Instagram and come and see the horrible comments people were posting on toolzo wedding. On someone wedding again I know they are in the limelight but people need to learn to watch their tongue Abi is it fingers on social media.some people will see someone on a happy day and post 'why is she this ugly ' like really I was taught if you don't have anything nice to say say nothing.Na she know why she remain in the marriage ojare like I said on one topic like that it's kinda naive to believe that deal breakers wil be the same for everyone in marriage so if she can put up with na she Sabi. |
tearoses:Wow now that is some scary ish My SIL was burgled last year and they were not even home she slept in a hotel for like a week cos she said she felt violated that those horrible people were in her house and going through her stuff. They were even seriously considering moving house( my SIL is very oyinboish ) so I can imagine these one that they were in the house.Thank God she is fine o . There was a similar story in the News yesterday about a woman with 4 children that was killed in Luton and apparently it was also a burglary gone wrong and they were looking for gold/money. Na wa o, me and hubby were still having the EU referendum debate and he was saying these Eastern Europeans criminal gangs is almost making him feel like voting out. Me I was still doing my progressive leftist tending argument of ' how would you feel if someone said these Nigerian Fraud gangs' and that stereotyping is not nice. Chai see how they are falling my hand. I have heard a lot of stories of on how dangerous criminals from that part of Europe are but I tended to think they were exaggerated by Euro sceptics. Na wa o . We thank God For life. |
edwife: ![]() This is the big bowl of Eba picture I was talking about ![]() |
edwife:Absolutely hilarious ![]() You this people will not kee me with laughter ![]() Obesity asides you just gotsa admire the self confidence of these women ![]() |

EfemenaXY:I meant I noticed I was getting migraines so I switched to the decaff version. |
edwife:Yes I don't mind me .. I have just one or two now |
Kimoni:Its not that bad try it joor. ![]() Maybe because I am now so used to it I cant even see the difference with black tea anymore. |
EfemenaXY:It does taking a bit of getting used to I drink it with a bit of honey like Edwife said and these days I even drink the decaff cos I noticed I started having migraines again( quite high in caffeine as well). I used to have about 4 cups a day while still actively trying to lose weight. But now I have about 2 a day and sometimes mix it up with other decaff variants ie fennel, mint, rooibos, lemon, cinnamon and ginger etc I do love my teas ![]() |
Chillisauce:I now love cucumbers. And my kids love them too so so that my plate is identical to what goes in my sons packed lunch as well. |
armyofone: ![]() You this people will not kee me. |
EfemenaXY:Your meal prep looks absolutely yum. |
EfemenaXY:Thank you Efe We can only try,i feel better for it though. Hope hayfever is not dealing with you as it was with me on Monday. Thank God for the rain on Tuesday and Wednesday |
Mamatee07:It was lovely.. Honestly no difference with pounded yam. I have stopped eating poundo yam since I bought my food processor. One tip though is make sure you cut the yams into tiny cubes and make sure you don't put in a large quantity ( depending on the size of your food processor) at a time. |
Kimoni: I don't think anyone can overtake efe in cucumber eating. |
Chillisauce:I have heard so much about it, will definitely be going to PH when next I got to naija so will try it. I go try oya see my snacks on my desk to stop me from going to the vending machine and fighting all the distractions in this place. My colleagues call me rabbit dami. :DBut if one is not careful this my office can make you put one weight. If its not krispy crème,its pizza,if its not pizza its cake always food everywhere Most external meeting na excuse for lunch.( even have one tomorrow sef ).And most of them are as skinny as anything. Most of my colleagues exercise though. My manager ran London Marathon and is running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in June but chai their eating habits I cant afford to emulate. So let me munch away on cucumber and apple. had a beetroot smoothie for brekkie.
|
Kimoni:Yes I agree that is a better word to use. |
Kimoni:I really hope he is found. Who is even the sister in law that is harbouring a fugitive and giving him phone to speak to Punch ![]() |
Kimoni:There is no doubt that he is mad anyway. Even apart from that statement, the whole response is just irritating. Like how is she going to defend herself against all his stupid accusations when she is dead? He pushed her and left her there ![]() Coward oshi, he cant even face the consequences of his actions and went into hiding. Till now I cant get the image of those poor innocent babies trying to wake their mother up out of my head ![]() |
Chillisauce:Chilli that looks yum..is that the PH style boli and fish everyone is always talking about? Summer don reach here How far with the summer body?I don taya to dey snap my food jare I go don chop am finish sef before I remember still in the healthy eating spirit and exercising spirit though. I don turn 'fitness' role model for my church. If only they knew me that me sef na learner ![]() |
Lagos Boy ![]() Like what the ?Animal in Human Skin. |
Those children are the ages of my children and I just kept imagining the anguish when they were trying to wake their mother up Those children need serious help to recover from the trauma that they had to go through due to no fault of theirs. |
naijababe:Aunty e rora o ![]() Jokes apart though, as much as I really rally empathise with Tiwa, i also can't seem to fully exonerate her. As much as I don't always agree with oga dayo I agree with him that she knew how this show biz kinda individuals live and operate. Their modus operandi is similar to the typical olodu (credit card fraudster) MO and really most of them make terrible spouses( give or take a few exceptions) I do know Tiwa is also showbiz personality as well so the dynamics are different from say a boring person like moi however she is not entirely blameless. We all make mistakes though so it's just better for them to move on without all this mud slinging. I can't stand all these cry baby men that turn to Instagram YouTube etc when their marriage ends. Like seriously ![]() I would have prefered she did a toke though and ignored the attention seeker. I know she needed to protect her brand but she should have just made a statement and asked for privacy. |
naijababe:Maybe because I grew up around agbas I could often spot them and see behind the 'shiny' facade of the typical faworaja. |
naijababe:Otherwise called faworaja ![]() |
The Internet never forgets and I don't get why the attention seeking T bills had to start with the whole social media thing So Jamil grows up and all the foot prints on on the Internet about dad/mum is dad calling mum a ho and grandma a witch and mum calling dad a fraudster, debtor, junkie etc Just shaking my head. ![]() Kimoni you raised a lot of valid /interesting points which about the whole women being the breadwinner thing. And all I could deduce from the guys comments was guys should do everything to guard against it being a permanent situation. Funny enough it's an issue that's not wholly Nigerian/black as even western marriages with the same dynamics have the same issues . See this article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/11279824/Female-breadwinners-why-earning-more-can-poison-a-marriage.html I personally know a white British couple where the guy was a stay at home dad and is now a proper alcoholic(you know those types you see drinking can beer on park benches that look homeless ) after the divorce. The guy just sits in the park next to school and if not that my daughter said 'mummy see jakes dad' I for avoid am cos he looked like a tramp ![]() In as much as we can blame the woman's 'attitude' there must be something that the men too must do to accept responsibility for their actions. Loads of stay at home mums are disrespected /ridiculed/shamed by their spouses for not earning money but for some reason they never go down the same sharp often self destructive paths the men tend to go down. |
Onegai:Its really disheartening. It really annoys me the way teaching is seen as a 'last' or 'fall back' option. A teacher has the very noble and difficult job of inspiring the next generation. I remember my fondest academic learning memories are those where I had a teacher who is really passionate about what they taught and that also caught on to me. I had an A1 in Government because my government teacher really inspired us and our government lessons were as advanced as some political science classes in some universities. That teacher ( coupled with the fact that I grew up in a very politically aware family) really ignited my love for politics till date. I think we need to go down the regulatory body/ certificate/ pin number route like the QTS ( qualified teacher status) or RN ( registered nurses) in Nigeria. That way when you know how much you have to do before getting that teacher status, it wont be seen as a 'last resort'. It starts in University sef the inferiority complex because people studying for B.ed are treated as less than the counterparts studying the plain course. Jamb cut off scores are lower when those studying B.ed actually take more modules. I never got the rationale behind it. Make Bsc Maths and B ed Maths the same cut off so those people who are admitted for B.ed are actually interested in teaching. |
tearoses:Its not easy sis but one thing I console myself with is that its just a phase. There are different phases in bringing up a child, this morning hubby had to leave home early and so I had to get the kids ready all by myself. I bathed my daughter and sent her to her room to wait for me while I bathed her brother. By the time I finished bathing her brother she had almost finished dressing herself, she had helped me bring out her brothers book bag. I was toasting the bread, she was buttering it.I left them eating breakfast and went upstairs to do my make up they finished eating and cleared the table themselves and even cleaned the milk spills on the table. A routine that would have taken me an extra 30 minutes 3 years ago is much faster now cos they are getting older and more independent.3 years ago who born me to be doing make up on days like this.So its all a phase and at each phase one has to be flexible and look at how to make things work while still not necessarily giving up one's dreams. It might mean deferring or postponing some things but the decision to have kids means sometimes making sacrifices for a period. The childrens welfare should always be a paramount factor in all decsions that the family takes.Things we can afford now were not things that we could afford those times I was not working but you know what we managed and thinking about it sef I was able to learn a lot of ways to save money that is even helping us that now that we have an increased income. I think there is really not much left to say as its really left to the OP to decide what will work for him and his family. |
fem29:Its not easy sis I tell ya. That was one of the reasons why I was home for a while till my eldest got into full time school. Cos we would have been paying about £2,000 a month on childcare for 2 children under 5. I just could not pay that amount of money while schooling/working and still be stressed as well. My mum is my children's only grand parent but she has her own life/business in Nigeria so getting her to stay indefinitely was not possible. If she lived here or I lived in Naija might have been different but I have friends whose parents live here and its still the same. I think our own parents are not like our grandparents( my grandmother did like 50% of the work while we were growing up in short my mum had sooo much help) and most likely we too wont leave our lives to permanently stay and help our kids raise their kids. One of my mums friends even did Omugwo from hotel ![]() Now on some days I am stressed but at least I am not forking out £2,000 on top my stress ![]() I can feel the OP and his wife but like I said they have to think long and hard about what their priorities are in the long and short term. |
tameera:If there is one advise I hate on NL its the 'go and look for teaching Job' for women so they can look after children. No wonder our educational system is nose diving. Teaching is a vocation and time consuming if you are good at it. I don't get why people think being a teacher is a walk in the park. I have a friend who is a teacher and I get home before her most evenings. Every afternoon when I go to pick up my daughter from after school club you still find the school car park filled with teachers' cars most of them lesson prepping for the next day. They even have to take home assessments and other work sometimes to be done later in the evening when most people are relaxing. Depending on what year they teach some of them have to even in come early and during holidays to do extra coaching with their students/pupils. Except you are not a good teacher being a teacher is not the 'easy option' that people tend to make it as on NL. The only incentive that I can take think off that they have is they are off during the school holidays. Which in the UK is not even that great because for those that don't have children it means they have to pay more for vacations as school holiday period is when vacations cost the most. They cant even take time off in term time.Or maybe that they have first hand knowledge of the curriculum and as such would be better suited to teaching and helping their children with homework. |
