A friend of mine was attacked ( physical fight) by her husband's younger sisters (2 of them) just a day after her wedding. The thanksgiving day.

The funny part - one of the sisters (married) was close to my friend b4 her brother picked interest in my friend.

The guy visited home (village) from Switzerland and met my friend. She was also in the village at that time.
They had known themselves as children - growing up in the village.

Once his sister found out her brother had picked interest in my friend; their friendship scattered for no apparent reason!

They attacked her cos they didn't like the response she gave when they asked her questions about keys to the room where they kept drinks! Just some stupid, flimsy reasons like that and honestly, she knew nothing about the whereabouts of the keys in question... They punched her nose, almost ripped off all her sewn weavon from her head. She bleed.

See pandemonium between her family and his that day.

Her husband was soooooooooooooooo embarrassed and pissed with his mother & sisters that he cut them off COMPLETELY. Asked them to leave his house in the village and never ever step foot in it again.

For his mom who was the mastermind, he told her to never visit his own personal house but he would visit her, provide her with her needs in her house- the one he built for her and his siblings.

I visited my friend almost 2 years after the incident and she said her husband kept to his words.

The husband's mother and stupid sisters after the incident, started calling my friend to apologize nd asked her to plead with her husband on their behalf. She did but the husband paid no mind.

He told my friend (his wife) that prior to the wedding, he had done virtually everything for his mother and siblings but the minute they heard he picked interest in a girl, no one was excited for him.

That’s a man that wants peace for himself.

A certain professor Cookey in Economics department, university of Port Harcourt collects 40k before you pass his Econometrics exam.
Professor Cookey does not care if you wrote well or not, if you fail to give him 40k then carryover will certainly be beckoning on you. And if you have the course carryover then you will need to pay 60k at the second attempt. The above not legal fees is for postgraduate students, the undergraduate students of the department have already legalized Professor Cookey's criterion for passing his exams.
The sad thing is, everyone knows about this, both academic and non-academic staff, but nobody is doing anything, nobody is saying anything, even the supposedly good lecturers. Professor Cookey is ruining lives of brilliant young men and women who do not have money to 'sort' ; they get frustrated, suffer depression and ultimately abandon their dreams. The ills of this nation stems from the school system where monsters called lecturers hold sway and feel they are demigod. I watched a young man who is arguably the best in his class, he solves assignments for all to copy, being from a poor home, his only chance to life and success was his brilliance. Professor Cookey ruined that young man because he could not 'sort'. How can someone who can't pay his school fees 'sort'? I can't believe that in a federal university lecturers and non-academic staff alike will be advising you to give Professor Cookey his money to avoid trouble. Evil indeed prevails because of the silence of good men.

Please any well meaning Nigerian reading this and in a position to do something about this should please investigate this and save brilliance from extinction.

I speak from experience.
I know a classmate who missed the Continuous Assessment for a course in our 3rd year, no make up test, yet he got an A. I wrote for my ancestors and my entire generation, yet I got a B (I am still pained till this day because, in that semester that was my only B).

The lecturer in charge of the course is a relative of the said student. The worst is, this lecturer knows nothing about the course, and is not even fit to be a lecturer.

Recently, there has been an influx of graduate assistant with marginal 2¹ grade which was hitherto not the case. Only first class graduates were retained, now it's a thing of knowing the VC.

Public Education in Nigeria is dead! The crop of lecturers being absorbed into the system is a disgrace to Academics. I spit on Nigerian Public Tertiary Education.

P.S: I chose not to mention the school. But it is a Federal University, a supposedly renowned Federal University!
