EducationRe: No Going Back On New LASU Tuition Fee – Fashola by damola1: 3:42pm On Nov 26, 2011
Remii:
I don't think so, when post secondary education is rightly priced, it would get more value. Not now that BSc has become equivalent of Secondary school cert and almost a waste of time. Many get out with little or no knowledge of discipline they claimed to have studied and doing all kinds of work no supposed to be engaged in.
Price INCREASE already DONE. WHEN for post sec. education is subject to time.

lasu chicks will have legitimate reasons to become daylight prostitutes!, else, no skool, and no opportunity for a job at the bank or even at the call center. 250k is not beans!

TravelRe: Why Do Nigerians Abroad Dont Help Themselves? by damola1: 9:10am On Nov 25, 2011
It's written that God loves a cheerful giver. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7).

I think that sums it all. If you cannot give without a condition, then better not to give. It's just that simple.

I can't remember the last time I ever washed plates in my own house, maybe a few times, or cloths or anything like that, but when I visited my aunt in London, I made sure I washed the plates we all used to eat, not because she's even accommodating me which was an option for me,, though let it be clear I still stayed in hotel accommodation, but , she dey try, she has no one helping her out there and with 3 kids, she dey really really try. she even had to push me aside to stop, but the point is, we've got to show love to one another, either from you that's the giver, or you that's the receiver,

My best time staying in London were spent with her kids, and not when I stayed in hotel, so really, love of family was key, it's not just abt the damn roof!

WebmastersRe: Eyowo: The Payment Gateway You've Been Waiting For! by damola1: 12:21am On Nov 21, 2011
4. The 1% transaction fee is charged to the merchant. However, the burden of paying Interswitch's transaction fees and that of other gateways have been passed on to the buyer. What this means is if you pass a transaction of N5,000 to Eyowo, Eyowo in turn passes N5,076.14 to Interswitch (after duly informing the buyer) such that when the 1.5% transaction charge is taken off, exactly N5,000 is returned to Eyowo from which we now take out 1% and remit N4,950 to the Merchant's bank account.

shit, that means, total fees is about 2.5%

Also, i want to ask, since all these mastercard, visa card are being accepted outside the country, why can't we use those other payment gatewayS?

ComputersRe: I Helped Steve Jobs Create The Mac — Bill Gates by damola1: 12:02am On Nov 14, 2011
Ranks007:
Here's what Job had to say to Dell, that man was a saucy fellow;

Jobs had a public war of words with Dell
Computer CEO Michael Dell, starting
when Jobs first criticized Dell for making "un-
innovative beige boxes".

On October 6, 1997, in a Gartner Symposium, when Michael Dell was asked what he would do if he owned then-troubled Apple Computer, he said "I'd shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders."

Afterall 11 years later, Job still had Dell in mind despite igniting the fire first!

In 2006, Jobs sent an email to all employees when Apple's market capitalization rose above Dell's. The email read: Team, it turned out that Michael Dell wasn't perfect at predicting the future. Based on today's stock market close, Apple is worth more than Dell. Stocks go up and down, and things may be different tomorrow, but I thought it was worth a moment of reflection today. Steve.

I still prefer the gentleman, Gates
I like the way he said things, it got things done on time. It's either you are smart or not,

Those are his claims. I am talking real impact not patents or marketing/PR. And I am talking about how his revolution has affected Nigeria and the rest of the world (emerging markets), which is the part of the world I live in (hence the world that matters to me). In Nigeria, we still buy most our music on CDs (No Jobs impact) and other companies have innovated more in delivering technology to more people in my part of the world than Apple have done.

You don't expect me to believe that Apple has revolutionized technology, just because the western media said so. I use technology and I observe how technology is used and can boldly say that Apple will not be in the top 10 in Nigeria in terms of significance.
Nigeria is a damn third world country that's finding hard to keep up with technology and worst still adapting, we live in the past if we continue to let the world lead and not at least follow up on time, if we continue to think cheap pirated software is the way forward we seriously have a problem. And it's not only about apple but so many other stuff, 3D tv sets, internet startups,  what am I saying,  we can't even boast of 24hrs electricity.

Bill Gates as I know him is a contract, patent person, else, why is windows not open. You don't expect companies to spend millions or billions of dollars on RD and just throw it away!

I don't currently use any apple products, cos I can't afford it, but it doesn't mean I am blind to what's going on. If you truly use technology, you'll appreciate the beauty of a work is not just about packaging up engineering mumbo jumbo, but it's abt the art, and delivery to the end consumer, ease of use is key.

Apple as taught me a great deal, especially in relation in how to connect to consumers.

What impact are you talking about? Maybe in the western world where people get cheap credit to finance the purchase of his overpriced products. But in the Nigeria and the rest of the world Apple and Jobs are insignificant and have had little impact on technology.

How many people are using Apple products in Nigeria and the rest of the world? Apple produce premium products for the rich and people with easy access to credit. To have an impact in technology in my books, you need to equip people with technologies that empowers them to live more fruitful lives irrespective of their economic situation. Apple has failed to do that and hence cannot be said to have a significant global impact on technology as compared to companies like Google, Nokia, Acer, HP, Microsoft, etc.

Take Android for example, a couple of weeks ago we heard of how an Indian company with the help of the Indian government will offer a $35 computer running Android that will be available to tens of millions of Indians. Even if Google achieves nothing else as a tech company, offering a technology that enables computers to sell in double digits of a dollar makes Google even a more valuable global tech company than Apple will ever be.

With such a cheap computer millions and possibly billions will be equipped with computing technology that enables them empower themselves.

Or should I talk about Nokia, another global tech company that is empowering people with technology at affordable prices. How many Nigerians will be using Facebook today if not for affordable internet enabled mobile phones built by companies like Nokia?

You do not need to be rich to have access to technology. So, yes Apple has had a lot of impact in technology in the Western world, but in the rest of the world Apple is an insignificant company. To those people Apple is better known as fruit than a tech company.
Impact on the industry, raising the bar higher, users now expected more from competitors. In the book: Steve jobs, it's clearly states and I quote ' This is a book about the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing and digital publishing, you might even add a seventh, retail stores, '

Listen, you can pick each of those field, and ask yourself the pre-era , what exactly was going on, I don't have to start telling you what mp3 players looked like, or even smart phones, but you simply cannot deny that he affected all users of technology.

ComputersRe: I Helped Steve Jobs Create The Mac — Bill Gates by damola1: 7:32pm On Nov 13, 2011
Bill is basically unimaginative and has never invented anything which is why I think he’s more comfortable now in philanthropy than technology. He just shamelessly ripped off other people’s ideas

Bro, I don't trade abuse, it's not my thing. And yes, the problems with Nigerians are legendary, as I stated previously. Why would anyone begin to verbally abuse someone else, just because she posted pictures, in compliance of this thread?

I just don't get it.
Oga, please stop, there's absolutely no problems with Nigerians, and nothing legendary about it. Do you abuse people at first meetings, or do your family and friends do that?, if they do, then you need to move out of that circle of family and friends,

You show me a perfect people from a perfect nation, and I show you God in heaven, you also show me a people that are nice, with a strong foundation and family value system anywhere, then I will show you two of those in Nigeria.
