Oga Jarret, your governor has no clout. He's a predictable boyi-boyi. No one respects boyi-boyi and his followers. APC knows that Edo and Delta are PDP states on a normal day, without much rigging. |
Gotocourt:You mean PA and business people that think only about saving money to get fat bonuses? It has not helped much in some Western countries like UK. Over 7 m patients waiting in the queue to treatment. Or those who try to control who doctors can prescribe vital but expensive cancer drugs for and who not? Medics interested in the admin side of things often do MBA anyway. Doctors and Dentists should continue with MDCN. Others need a better joint Health Professions Council than the current one. I believe other care professions need more autonomy to develop their craft. |
Sermwell:We know James Manager, Heiniken Lokpobiri. Many of them. Others like Worldnorgree, Inorspoilpersonown, Shamedoncatchenemy, etc. Horsfall is another. Na Oyinbo corrupt the Efik name from something else, to the nearest sounding English name. You won't believe it until your hear it in Niger Delta. ![]() |
moscow007:Well, because they are unknowingly admitting the Naira is nearly useless in financial reckoning. Under their watch. If you try to be too smart, you expose yourself. But the don't know. |
eagleonearth:It still does not increase her fertility. Her body still gets old and her eggs have still been reducing monthly since first menses. First baby at older age also has its many down sides. The body goes through the first hormonal changes due to pregnancy which nature intended the body to go through at a younger age. It is well known now that having a baby later after having a baby at an earlier age makes the body more familiar with the process. Not too late though, because regular aging process still goes on. Imagine first pregnancy at 39? Gestational diabetes could be a problem. Growing up, I remember how many women who died around 40 to 47 due to pregnancy complications. I didn't know the science behind it back then as a kid. Because of more physical work and less fatty food, girls started having menses at an older age, at 14 or 15 in those days. So, they remained fertile for longer, into older age. You need a certain level of body fat for the hormones for puberty to be made in the required quantity. For example, some adult women with severe anorexia lose so much weight and body fat that their monthly period stops. Too little hormones. |
nairalanda1:We can't be sure what happened. In emergency, maybe hysterectomy as a last resort could have helped to save her life. You know 9ja, oxytocin or other uterotonics used may be fake. Resources for further intervention may be lacking. RIP to her. |
Diamond098454:You mean those that have possibly used abortion to scatter their womb? Yes na man impregnate them, but dem nor force them open leg. Adults make decisions. |
Stephen0mozzy:Nor mind them. Some women are reaching menopause before 40 nowadays. Partly because some start menses at age 11. Once the fixed number of eggs a woman is born with exhaust, that's it. Donor eggs and IVF are not cheap. In fact being 50 makes having a younger lady more important. You can't have too older people who may both have accumulated defects in their reproductive resources have a child. Risk of congenital defects increases. Also, the older the woman, the more likely she has had several potentially womb-damaging abortions. |
nairalanda1:Lol. That na Singapore overnight be that. ![]() Even if you gather all the prayer warriors to deliver governors from wanton corruption, that can't happen. They should immediately remove immunity from governors, otherwise, dem fit use state police kpai many people. Power intoxicates. |
Aidoko2:It was Miriam Babangida that took it to her hometown, Asaba, in 1991. Remi Tinubu will make her mother's town, Warri, a state capital this time. All na connection and politics. |
What people don't see is that the desire to make Warri a state capital by Remi Tinubu is probably what will make Anioma likely to happen. What Akpabio didn't say is that there is agitation for other states in the SS. SS states on the whole are not the ones asking for Anioma. Akpabio is cryptic. Igbo should be careful not to be hoodwinked. If Anioma is granted, SS states may only approve it as a 7th SS state. SW might get at least two states. Ife-Ijesha state will likely be one of them. Ibadan state may follow. NC will likely get Okun State. Those agitating for Anioma don't care if it's in SE or SS. They only care about Anioma being created. Igbo should focus on Etiti, Orlu or Adada state. |
Toolegit123:Pastor and fiancee/girlfriend in one sentence for me na red flag. For your peace of mind, gradually move on. You don't want an outsider controlling and manipulating your wife. It never ends well. |
Now, it's clear why everyone is moving to APC. ICPC/EFCC get huge files on them. |
SixSeven:African leaders still believe these Europeans? Let them go ask Zelensky the comedian. |
EmmyMaestro:An evens planner is a business person, no? So why is she not an entrepreneur? RIP to the young lady. Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages entrepreneur /ˌɒntrəprəˈnəː/ noun a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. |
fixedhollies:We just don't know what democracy is all about. It failed 9ja in the 1960s, early 1980s and failing since 1999. IBB had the golden opportunity to be a benevolent military dictator and set 9ja on the same path like Malaysia but he failed too. Gerontocracy and monarchy are our natural governance system. Virtually every president except Yar'adua and GEJ have behaved like a monarch so far. Only that they don't have the fear of what will happen to their children later when they get to the throne. Political positions have become like monarchies, but without the history, heritage and customs/traditions that guide them. The constitution/courts have no teeth to bite against politicians that control all the money and state power. |
wink2015:What do you need plane for when you can make wheelbarrow? ![]() Those Brazilians have been at it for decades. Their Embraer is a really good plane. Even direct flight to Brazil, we are still doing MOU. It will be easier for Brazilians and Chinese to transfer their tech to us. Western people wey no waive Covid-19 vaccine patent right and nor give Ebola experimental vaccine. |
MarkNsukkaBread:So, you are wiser and superior than Moroccans, Americans, Australians, French and others who allow others to come in with their dollars and hard currencies? Empty pride. Be doing local champion. What are you afraid of? You believe archaic and retrogressive policies that stifle the economy make you superior? ![]() To be superior, provide security in your country, jobs, constant electricity, don't be the poverty capital of the world, don't be fantastically corrupt, retain your best brains/doctors, engineers, politicians should not siphon public money to buy houses in countries that treat you shabbily at their embassies and consulates in Nigeria, don't expose yourself to SA xenophobia, etc. That's how to be superior. Not by mouth or empty pride. Obviously, you haven't travelled visa-free to Western countries, Tunisia, Morocco or countries wise enough to attract tourists, so you will never understand it. By the way, most won't even come due to insecurity, so no point. |
SeverusSnape:I found myself discussing 9ja's cumbersome visa policy with a Nigerian embassy staff one day. He was adamant that millions of people apply for 9ja visa yearly, that what you (yours truly) know, that he's the one who knows as an embassy staff. I told him the visitors figures/statistics are out there and that compared to even Kenya, 9ja is nowhere. Despite our size, population, endowment, diversity, culture, etc. The olodo didn't get it. He said Europeans charge Nigerians a lot for their visas and Nigeria is doing great by reciprocating. Empty pride. I reminded him that the cost of a Nigeria multiple visa for some Europeans, is enough to buy a ticket to Morocco and pay for hotel for the weekend. No visa. Yet Moroccans need visas to much of Europe. Moreover, visitors to 9ja mostly have some 9ja family/marriage ties. Or are expatriates or for business that largely economically favour them more than 9ja. That is before you even factor the 9ja insecurity factor in. I insisted Nigeria should not always react emotionally to Western policies, but in a calculated way to take money from Europeans via tourism. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania have long introduced a common visa arrangement for tourists. I don't need a visa to Morocco, Tunisia or even Uganda. But if had to present a 9ja document, I would need visas to all. They have cleverly exempted Western tourists bringing hard currencies. Morocco gets well over 7% of its GDP from tourism. They don't have much natural resources. |
Mariangeles:The sons are often horrible men. They treat their stepfathers extremely bad. No matter how good the stepdad was. It's like curse dey follow such sons. In fact the sons are even a major reason to avoid single mothers. If she has 3 sons and a husband, it's like having 4 competing husbands in one house. Her loyalty to her sons often makes her side with them against their step-father. If the man survives their mother and is not wealthy, they will ignore him. Even though he spent his youth providing for them as best as he could. If wealthy, they might pretend to get their hands on more of his wealth/inheritance. But awful nonetheless. I have seen this up close, within the family and around me in the society. It's pathetic. No man should try it. Don't let anyone blackmail you into it or try to be woke. As a man, being good to your step-kids means nothing. If you are not their dad, you simply are not. Donate your money to charity if you want to be kind. And expect nothing back. The world hardly rewards kindness, God does. |
Wait o, na touch light abi powerbank dem wan use run these businesses? ![]() Dem nor say make craze man nor go farm, na to do proper work be the koko. If we are serious, we should partner with Brazil. They have a great Agric sector. They will do these things with us with less cunny cunny. UK wey hundreds of farms dey fold up yearly. |
kettykin:Nigeria has never had any credible census since the prospect of independence became feasible. Until today. Too much fake stuff. |
badoh:There are some things you just cannot easily learn when the foundation is lacking. I wonder how she would have coped with complex metabolism and biochem in dietetics, if even basic anatomy/biology is missing. Nutrition and Dietetics combined degree is a serious course in the UK, and takes good 4 years like Pharmacy. A dietician that doesn't know the digestive system, nor be juju be that? How will she understand the TCA cycle, for example? ![]() |
Eid Mubarak to all our friends and NLers. |
Image123:Wrong. A lot of people such as boat people have no IDs. Others came in with irregular documents. I can't say more on this here. So, how do you prove they are Nigerians? I give you an example. In 1991, we heard that a guy I knew well had been arrested during a routine stop and search. His appeal had been rejected and he didn't know yet. He was arrested and somehow deported to a French speaking central African country. But on arrival, immigration didn't accept him because he spoke no French or any local language there. He was returned and released to our surprise. So, imagine if he spoke French. It's more complex than you think. Africans will be sent packing while Asians will remain. Not very clever. FG should use same enthusiasm to stop Boko, ISWAP. bandits, kidnappers, Lakurawa, etc. |
SmartyPants:True. Whereas, if that immigrant were able to remain a bit longer, immigration policy might change, reconcile with estranged spouse, or use their children and humanitarian means to get their papers. Many people who eventually got their papers were at some point in line for deportation if they had been caught, or if deportation had been possible without valid 9ja ID. Some detained for immigration issues were eventually released. And are British citizens today making their contribution to society. |
Image123:It also means that anybody with black skin whose country won't accept can be issued with UK identity document making him Nigerian. And be deported to Nigeria. Remember that Trump deported Colombians, Venezuelans, and others to El Salvador abi na wetin be that country. Many countries simply refuse to admit anyone without ID is not issued by the home country. |
Chuksgeo:This is how they build anger and aggressive behaviour in kids from a young age. While imbibing punctuality from early age is good, a staff member should be at the gate to explain or lead them to a "detention" room as "punishment" for lateness. The insecurity alone is a big issue. Some kids come to school on foot and their parents have left home too. Who will they return to? Even if they are to be sent home, a staff member should be calling their parents/guardians to say so. Utterly irresponsible. Catholic schools in Italy, Ireland, Spain or any serious country won't try such. |
Good. More grease to their elbow. |
Lickinsidetoto3:I don't know the guy you quoted but these players were simple local boys those days. If you lived in Bendel, especially Benin-City, you would see many of these players, Especially around Ogbe stadium. Henry was a popular NNB lad until he left to join ACB around the time IBB overthrew Buhari. He briefly played with Austin Eguavoen at ACB before the latter went to Belgium. These were topics local guys discussed playing draft those days instead of yahoo of nowadays. He left NNB not too long after Stephen Keshi left. He became very popular after winning 1980 AFCON though he didn't play a big part, being just a teenager then. We still remember the fierce NNB v. Insurance rivalry. These guys regularly played table tennis outside a friend's house. They were local lads, not inaccessible celebs as footballers are today. People seem to have forgotten Henry's Moscow Olympic heroics. |
Parachoko:And the funny thing is that I know where majority of the girls who do night business the most come from. And they are not from Edo. It was already so as far back as 1980. They rented hostels owned by relatives. As if IMSU and similar places are not far worse in night business. Let that guy dey mumu. Let him look at poverty index by state in 9ja. |
Mrchippychappy:You mean the guy pick race back? As in "abeg o, I is not a gay, help o." And suddenly woke up. ![]() |
These are real names!
he was even asking me what was my source of livelihood, and of which I told him. Afterwards,he then asked me what was my monthly salary. Saying if I'm sure I can take care of my fiancee with that amount,or if I'm planning to have a side hustle. That he doesn't want a case where any of her spiritual daughter will go into a marriage where she'll be suffering. I told her categorically clear that I'm not a lazy man and I don't intend to put anyone's daughter into suffering in the name of marriage.
