These ladies could have been anybody's wife, girlfriend, sister, friend or relative in many parts of Africa.

Most of our women nor too get level like that, especially with oyinbo, or rich men. Only few are ok.

Even some from so-called good homes or are religious.

We men just expect too much from our women, they are not all that.

Their sexual behaviour outside will shock you.

HealthRe: One Reason Why Canadians Live Longer Than Nigerians by Dancebreaker:
Good. But you forgot the biggest part. Poverty.

With so many poor people, they just want a full belly, if at all possible. The quality is immaterial.

By and large, those better off financially have access to better food, the best local and foreign health care, etc.

Baba Iyabo, Jack Gowon and many others are still waxing strong. IBB might not be alive today if he was a poor person.

Also, remember that average life expectancy takes child and maternally mortality into consideration.

Canadians have few kids and the vast majority survive. Maternal mortality is very low.

Whereas, "We Hail Thee" is world champion in these categories.

How come she didn't have 600 Naira for bike? She's not ripe for marriage yet. The boy should be arrested for assault if he struck her though. He could have let her into the store and collect the money at least he knows her and it's not a case of robbery or theft
Don't believe the entitled broke lady's story. If at all the story ever happened.

She must have looked down so much on the salesboy and manhandled him as he tried to prevent her entering the shop. No salesboy will just slap a lady for no reason as she puts it.

Her anger is that her fiance did not punish the salesboy just based on her skewed story.

The guy knows what an asset the salesboy is. The woman on the other hand is a net liability, up to N600 bike money. The man is very wise. He must already know the woman's temperament.

Do you know the punishment the salesboy might have suffered in the past for minor errors?

What if the master refuses to settle nwa boyi after 7 years, citing that N600 among his lapses?

What about waiting in the shop for the fiance to return? A woman without N600 bike money wants to marry? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

There are two main barriers to and and in the army.

First is to enter in the first place. Second is to rise above Colonel position.

I have seen the finest, brightest and fittest people denied entry, especially in SSC ones and NDA.

One fine and smart lady who was refused SSC despite scoring one of the highest marks in all areas tested, later travelled abroad. She's doing very well there.

She had nobody of the rank of a Brigadier-General or equivalent to recommend her. An insider told her very clearly.

What exactly do you want or expect from today's woman? Do you as a man believe you'll only get it by becoming a "married man?"

As for the OP, how on earth did the woman have access to the papers of his property to sell it of gbanjo price? Even if the account sounds somehow, e fit happen as some men no geh sense. He is saying that modern woman don't want to take responsibility. If as a man you fall victim, women and most men will still find a way to blame you. My opinion and yours won't change it. In 9ja of now, the victim takes the blame. We don sink very low.

Atiku go still lose next year. E sure me die.

Atiku is a Fulani but he's politically shortsighted like the average igbo politician. May be it's because he's friends with them.

In 2015, instead of Atiku to queue behind Goodluck and support his reelection with an agreement that Goodluck will support him when he finishes his tenure, naive Atiku allowed Tinubu used his dumb head to go form APC, not knowing that Tinubu and Buhari already had an agreement.

In 2023, instead of Atiku to do everything possible to have Obi on his side, again, he allowed the useless man to split votes and allowed Tinubu easy access to the presidential villa

Obi, on the other hand, instead of him to maintain his position as a running mate to Atiku and build his network if he gets to Aso Rock, he foolishly allowed the social media hype get to him. Both men lost, even though their votes combined could have been enough to make them win.

All of a sudden, the two shortsighted folks now want to work together to defeat a sitting president, something they know is nearly impossible, especially because of how desperate the person they are up against is

If igbos don't rule Nigeria in the next 30 years, blame it on Obi. He's too shortsighted politically, same as Atiku.

And that is where Tinubu has an edge over them. He carefully calculates his move before he makes them, unlike Atiku and Obi that just jump at anything out of desperation for power.

Useless men
True, Atiku is not strategic enough. But it's not that easy.

Obi left PDP because Wike thought he would get the VP ticket. Obi knew with Wike lobbying so hard, with so much money, Obi left.

Fact is Atiku is not politically savvy enough.

Word on marble.

Poor people in general are on survival mode. Especially in developing countries without any social safety net. Most will grab as much as they can. Sadly, it's a widespread poverty mode.

Once acquired, people retain it lifelong. Even if they become ministers or senators. The fear of poverty and the desire to always have enough become ingrained in the psyche.

Christianity EtcRe: Map Of Countries Where Christmas Is Celebrated And Where It’s Not by Dancebreaker:
Teymanhenry:
Look at Nigeria carefully, not emotionally. One of the quiet forces shaping religious numbers isn’t preaching, miracles, or debates—it’s demography.
In many Muslim communities, polygamy is normal and accepted. One man, two, three, sometimes four wives. Naturally, that means more households, more children, more rapid multiplication. It’s not addition; it’s compound growth.
On the other hand, Christianity largely promotes monogamy—one man, one wife. Growth here is mostly by addition, not multiplication. Two parents, a few children, and that’s it.
So while Christians are often busy arguing doctrine, Muslims are quietly expanding their numbers at home. No noise. No controversy. Just biology and culture doing the work.
Does this mean Islam will “dominate” Christianity? Not automatically. Numbers alone don’t tell the full story. Education, urbanization, personal belief, and conversion still matter. But ignoring population dynamics is like ignoring the engine while arguing about the paint color.
It’s not an insult. It’s not fear-mongering. It’s just a conversation about reality.
And the uncomfortable truth is this:
Growth favors systems that multiply faster.
Whether Christianity responds with strategy, adaptation, or simply awareness—that’s another conversation entirely.
The story of Lebanon should easily answer this. It was a majority Christian country until less than 60 years ago. Its capital, Beirut, used to be called Paris of the Middle East. See where it is today.

Though to be honest, herdsmen are not ghosts. They must have families and friends, like anyone else.

It's herdsmen who rear the cows we eat down South. So, we must tease them apart, the legit and criminal elements.

At this point, Southerners should know that North and South are totally different.

Each should be allowed to choose their paths to the future.

Good day nairalanders, so I plan on going to the University next year to study Economics but I wrote art subjects in waec..I wanted to study law/political science but I am switching to economics now.

The issue is I want to write GCE next year only writing economics as I feel it the only missing piece in my weac to study the course. Is it possible? Will I have to write commerce and all those commercial subjects?

Thank you

Edit: I will be using two sitting
Econs is a selective course.

Having Maths, English, Econs plus two good subjects like Agric, Biology, Commerce, Geography in one WAEC/NECO sitting, will be advantageous.

Combining subjects may not be good. They may end up pushing you to Sociology.

Be sure that your Maths is top top.

nairalanda1:
Because they wanted to ride popular opposition against subsidy to get into power later on.

Subsidy removal has been unpopular in nigeria...even the dreaded Abacha never contemplated removing fuel subsidy...so GEJ's attempt to remove it led to people protesting, and Buhari and Tinubu saw an opportunity to garner popularity.

As you may know, most Nigerians were not seeing what government was seeing then. Subsidy costs, in 2011 were triple those in 2010. (Oshiomole, who as a governor had access to the official records on subsidy spending, was one of the few oppositon leaders to oppose subsidy retention and support its removal because he had information most did not). AM sure buhari and tinubu knew..but because they wanted to get into power, they played the game, and won.

Naturally, retaining subsidy forced us into serious fiscal problems, which buhari tried to hold at bay with borrowing and printing money, and misusing ways and means. By August 2022, the chickens had come home to roost.
Some like me had no access to privileged information, but we still knew it was the right thing to do.
You nailed it that it was a political game.
Buhari and APC won. But Nigeria and Nigerians? Pure losers in all ramifications.
BusinessRe: Traders Lament Low Patronage Of Poultry, Foodstuffs In Abuja by Dancebreaker: 11:37am On Dec 24, 2025
nairalanda1:
Subsidy removal freed up money, yes , but it did not raise overall income. It just reduced the amount of present income that we spent on subsidy.

The problem with Nigeria is that our economy is so wack and unproductive and government revenue generation is also wack and then there is corruption that budgets have really not been fit for purpose for decades.

That's why I keep shouting that our problem is resource dependent economy, and the need to make it a productive economy

That is where apc is failing and why tinubu is failing.

Subsidy removal happened because available revenue was being eaten up by debt service resulting from loans taken to replace the subsidy hole in the budget over the years to the point that there was no money for anything, including the subsidy itself

We were warned as early as 1993 that that would happen if we kept subsidy
OK. But why did those now in power oppose GEJ's subsidy removal a decade earlier?
