The bolded is what is my problem with having a midfield three of Yaya, Pogba and Herrera. You expect Herrera to shoulder the burden of the midfield defense and protection of the back four alone, while those two dogonyaros walk around the field lazily, refusing to help out in defense?


We all know Yaya Toure and Pogba are lazy players defensively and with egos, and that's not what we need right now. We're still trying to fit in Pogba and you're suggesting Yaya Toure?

The solution is not in buying more players ALONE, but rather in playing to the strength and abilities of the players currently available, just like Conte is currently doing at Chelsea.

Can Herrera do well in the no. 10?

It's funny seeing Carrick wasting on the bench with our midfield disjointed, our defence unprotected and our attack blunt, lacking creativity and clear-cut chances. Why did Mourinho asked for Carrick to be given a contract extension if he won't utilize him always?

If Mourinho choose to stubbornly stick to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, then pair Pogba with Carrick/Herrera in the pivot and Mata playing the no. 10. Pogba should never near the no.10 position again. He should get accustomed to a new role as a box-to-box midfielder and accept whatever defensive responsibility that comes with the position instead of ogling the no. 10 position.


Pair Carrick with Pogba and see how his potential unleashed. If Carrick can't be guaranteed to start all games, play him in the most important, most win games.
