A midfield 3 of Onyeka, Iwobi and Aribo is as unbalanced and tactically rubbish as having Peseiro play a 2 man midfield as well.

Onyeka at the base is no good 2nd phase midfielder and can't initiate possession sequences as immaculately as needed in the CDM position. Also, he isn't positionally disciplined to execute the role.

Aribo is as lost as he has been in the GWG for his last couple of games.

Iwobi is simply not himself coz he is playing with a technically/tactically imbalanced personnel in the middle.

Just rubbish. Peseiro just picked nonsense. No true tactical nous behind the selections.

Was Aribo even playing in the midfield? It looked more like he was playing supporting striker...

So Peseiro has decided to revert to a 4-3-3.. Lol.. fear catch am..
Onyedika shouldn't have started ahead of Aribo though...
As for Tella, I hope he wont make harsh decisions in an attempt to cement his place on the team

The only thing wey go happen in today’s line up is Ola Aina,Bruno,Simon and Moffi in and Osayi,Collins,Lookman and Awoniyi out….and radarada continue with poor Peseiro

Very predictable coach .. it is still the same 4-2-4 he would play today...
To be honest, the odds aren't too in our favour today... First, the pitch is quite bad and not suitable for our players, second, the kickoff time (3pm Rwanda time) isn't very convenient for our players, and third, Zimbabwe play like a typical Southern African team ..they run a lot... With a lean midfield, I dear that Iwobi and whoever partners him today will gas out quickly... We are in for a long afternoon...

I hope we win

Like I said before, Peseiro is probably intimidated by the number of attackers we have, that's why he jas neglected other areas of the team especially the midfield...

Rohr and JP are part of Pinnick's legacy...seeking the advice of Wenger and Mourinho on the coach for the SE.

The current NFF leadership are pretty anonymous at the moment. Can't tell their direction or focus.

Pinnick na Otu... I doubt if he consulted the right people before appointing coaches for pue national team... All the coaches he hired for our cadet teams, particularly in his second tenure where absolute shite, and somehow, they retained their jobs... The cureent NFF leadership is way worse...

I actually support this. Danielnino00. It's a shame. I see nothing to award to our lads except for the Brilliance of Victor Osimhen in the past year and the rise of Boniface in the team.

An award for this shambolic display?? Throughout this year, the Super Eagles haven't exactly given us cause to really be excited. It has been a rubbish year for our apex national team. Rubbish!

Is jp not seeing that 4-2-4 is not working

This 4-2-4 abi 4-4-2 was what brought Rohr down... Rohr started well with 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 until he got tempted by the number of strikers we were producing and decided to start jacking up the team with forwards while ignoring the midfield... It is what Peseiro is doing...
These kind of things are expected from coaches who have been journeymen their whole career....

Gentlemen,ladies, good evening.
Given that there is still one more international window left before the end of the year, it's only right to begin the process of voting after it. However, other activities have to commence before the real voting.
I believe that many of us here have one or two things we are doing that keeps us busy at times, so there will be no hurry. We will take our time to do it well..
The calendar of events are as follow:

November 3- November 8 : Voting of members od the nomination committee
November 8- November 11: Validation of election into the nomination committee
November 12- November 16: Selection of award categories by nomination committee
November 20- November 25: Selection of players for each award category by nomination committee
November 27 - December 4: Voting of winners by all Nairlanders
December 8: official announcement of winners

CC: icon4s semid4lyfe

Good afternoon everyone. I appreciate you all for your time and patience so far, and apologies for not being able to meet up with the deadlines listed in the calendar.
So, based on responses received so far, here are the members of the nomination committee for the 2023 Nairaland Nigeria Football Fans Award:
1. Danielnino00
2. Icon4s
3. Thesupernerd
4. Charlesemeka85
5. Joebie
6. Andsungorilla

Given that the super eagles have a game tomorrow and next week, I think it's only right to wait until afterwards before we begin. The super falcons also have a game coming up toward the end of this month and early December, but the super falcons only have one category for the award, so we cant wait till then. However, if members of the committee wish to make modification to the categories, we can find a way around it.

In lieu of this, here is the new calendar:
November 22- November 27 2023- Selection of award categories by nomination committee
November 27- December 2nd 2023- Selection of players for each award category by nomination committee
December 4th - December 11th 2023- Official Voting of winners by all Nairalanders
December 15th 2023- Official announcement of winners

Thank you all

Perhaps for next edition,
you should ask for those who would want to be among the committee to first indicate interest.
Then we can vote for those who has indicated interest,
the top 5 most voted can join you and Icons, the permanent members.

Better still,
7 of u on this edition can become permanent members going forward, whoever that might notbe available for whatever reason may let u know and can be replaced.

This will save a lot of time i believe.

The first suggestion makes sense..I'd put it into consideration going forward..
Thank you

I believe the more people are in the committee, the more opinion and ideas we can come up with.

I sincerely apologize to the thread for the slow progress made so far.
Getting the nomination committee ready is proving more difficult than I anticipated, but it's expected. Many of us have our lives outside of this thread, so not everyone can dedicate their time to the process.

Charlesemeka85 and Thegoodjoe remain the only committed members so far. Kog45, Bascovanveli, Komekn and Majoribanks have declined participation, while Thesupernerd is yet to reply.

Chriskels, Joebie and Andsungorilla, I hereby extend an invitation to you to join the nomination committee. I'd appreciate if I get a feedback sooner. Thank you

You obviously don’t get my point. You are writing so much without actually saying anything. Preparation is 50%. Luck is 50%. Decisions can go against you on the pitch, unforeseen injuries, discord in the squad etc. That’s my point. The Uzoho you are wailing about today might not even be the issue at the tournament. Bro chilax Abeg.

If what you're saying is the fact, then we'd have underdogs winning major tournaments all the time, but it isn't so.
In the context of the AFCON, the last time we saw a team win it with like 50% luck was Zambia in 2012....
Preparation is everything...
As it is, the goalkeeping department is a major weakness in our team...

One thing certain is that once Ndidi recovers, he would be back in the team now so does that mean Onyedika or Aribo would be booted out or do we play with 5 MFs? If we play with 5 MFs then a replacement should have been chosen for Ndidi on my own opinion.
If at all anybody would be booted out, it might be Onyedika.. The fact that Dele-Bashiru was reinvited shows how much Jpes care about our midfield... Then there's Alhassan who he reportedly went to watch live some days ago.

Looking at our midfield list over the years, it's clear that Peseiro doesn't have it as a priority. That was one of the things Rohr did that we complained about until it eventually affected the team.

Here we go!
Voting of Members of the Nomination Committee
Gentlemen and ladies of the thread, it is time for us to vote for those who will stand as representatives of this thread and partake in the selection of award categories and award nominees.
This year, the nomination committee will be made up of at least 7 members: myself, icon4s who pioneered the award will continue as an honorary member of the committee and at least 5 monikers from this thread.
Every member of this thread is eligible to vote and be voted for. But let's keep in mind that this isn't a popularity contest. Vote for those you believe have the knowledge and passion for Nigerian football.
Here's the rule for voting:
1) You're to vote for 5 monikers from this thread to join the committee;
2) Vote the monikers in order of preference, from top to bottom;
3) Points will be awarded to each moniker you vote for. Your first nominee gets 5 point, the second gets 4 points, the third gets 3 points, fourth gets 2 points and fifth gets 1 point.
4) At the end of the voting process, the five monikers with the most points will join the committee;
5) In the event that two or more monikers are tied on points, they will all be added to the committee, as the goal is to have as many monikers to contribute to the process.
6) You're allowed to nominate yourself 😉

Voting closes on Wednesday, November 8th 2023, 10pm Nigerian time.

Thank you.

Etebo came from local league, you already mentioned Musa who's to say another one can't be discovered if our national team coaches put in the work?

For instance I still feel the solution to our current goalkeeping crisis lies in inviting one talented goalie and giving him all the support and confidence to succeed.

I think the problem with getting players from the NPFL into the super eagles now is that most of these players are looking for an easy route to play abroad. You invite one of them now, and in a few months, his agent would be looking for a club for him somewhere in the middle east or obscure European league.
Its either our league is no longer producing quality players good enough to make it into some decent European teams or the players and their agents are just impatient.
