I wanted to say we should go ahead and start nominating individuals for each categories, but I thought of something, based on the question raised by Andsungorilla.

He asked if some of the award categories were gender inclusive. I was now thinking, what if we made the award open to all of our national teams and not just the super eagles alone? Icon4s also asked me to indicate the criteria for nomination of individuals fpr the categories, and it got me thinking the more.
Agreed, the thread that birthed this award is mostly focused on the super eagles, but we always include discussions about our other national teams too. Maybe we could do the same for the award.
We could make it all gender and level inclusive.
If the majority says otherwise, we can leave it as it used to be.

you said a players quality doesn’t translate to what ever he earns in his club

Say the truth for once 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well, it is the truth.. you can't judge a player quality by how much he earns at his club, because football is a career, and every career leaves room for progress.. a player earning peanuts today can start earning millions the next day.. Literally every player that earns big money today were at a point, earning peanut..
With regards to Nwakali whom the jibe is intended for, his carwer hasn't really progressed as well as many of us hoped, but he is doing well for himself.. from the Portuguese second division to Spanish second division and now the Portuguese first division in a space of 5 years isn't so bad...

That being said, I hope you haven't forgotten to drop your take in the nomination committee thread? You did promise to make yourself available for it, yet you're the only member yet to say anything so far

This super falcons midfield is really loaded.. Ayinde, Ucheibe, Abiodun, Payne and Echigini are very good players.. not to mention others like Peace Effih, Regina Otu, Esther Onyenezide....

I wish the super eagles had such midfield options... Or maybe we already do, but Peseiro isn't interested

Your question ❓ destroys your intended proposition.

Nwakali is at the bottomless pit in Portuguese league
Folorunsho is in Verona at the bottom of seria A
Mathew plays for Zurich in the Swiss league rated 12th in Europe. Which is lower than the Scottish league.
Alhassan plays in the Belgium super league.

None of these players are exceptional infact Nwakali is very poor quality and earns less than €2000 a week .

There is an intrinsic link between player value and quality. This cannot be denied not always conclusive but definitely indicative at least.

There are no world class players in my opinion in Southampton but there are several high quality players and in the team. The players you mentioned are not exceptional but low quality.

Nwakali who at his peak could not get into Arsenal youth team.

You really need to stop this thing of using players salary to determine their quality. No reasonable footbal scout (like you claim to be) does that. Also, you need to dead this idea of using the Scottish league as a yardstrick to determine which league in Europe is lower than the championship The Scottish league is crap, but the fact that some overzealous English pundits consider it on par with the championship doesnt mean you should use it to downgrade other leagues. This same Scottish league sign loads of players from these low quality European leagues every year.

Hi Dan, thanks a lot brother. I tried to ask before but I guess I didn't fully express my thoughts, could you clarify if the following categories are gender inclusive
1. Nigerian player of the year
4. Most impactful new inclusion
5. Best Ogedengbe GK of the year
6. Keshi defender of the year
7. Okwaraji midfielder of the year
8. Yekini attacker of the year
9. Most Improved Player of the year
10. Young player of the year
12. Best assist of the year
15. Prospect or the year
Or rather are these categories just for the Male players, thanks brother.

Since its inception, the under listed categories have always been reserved for male players. The team of the year is the only category that's gender inclusive.

I quite agree with icon4s. Coaching a national team is different from coaching a club. Pitso had two different stints with the South African national team and couldn't make them better.. .

You have zero knowledge.

Where does Ndidi and KC play ❓ without Ndidi the SE has a huge irreplaceable gap currently. But according to you they should all be dropped because they are playing in Division Two.

The EPL is the best league in the world and definitely the most competitive. So how good is the Championship ❓the stepping stone to the championship. It's in record that it's way superior to the Scottish league.

The best Midfielder in the world ,Jude Bellingham where did he come from ❓

The players in bold will not get on to the bench at Southampton and Nwakali will not even get into the Youth team.

Who are the world class players on Southampton bench that the likes of Nwakali, Matthew, Alhassan and Folorunsho won't make it there? 🤣😂

10 games, 8 clean sheets, 5 goals conceded, and 2 assists this season for Doma United..

Pls what was Taye Taiwo performance prior to 2013 Afcon and 2014 WC,was he better than Elderson Echiejele……Why not accuse Rohr of taken totally off form Echiejele to WC and one match wonder Idowu and Simy Nwankwo to WC but you guys keep on accusing Keshi of taken Shola Ameobi,Babatunde Michael,Uchebo and Nwofor to WC but despite that he still reached second round.

Pls paste where Taye Taiwo accused Keshi of taking bribe.

I'm not defending Keshi, but I've seen that it's easier for Nigerians to accuse a local coach of collecting bribes once certain players start getting called up, but they hardly do the same for foreign coaches...
I remember Rohr calling up Uche Agbo almost every match but hardly plays him... Solomon Otabor from Bulgaria was another case... And there's Peseiro sticking to a bench warming goalkeeper in Cyprus....

Keshi had his flaws, but he was definitely a better tactician than most coaches that have coached the team after him...

Yes he is out.

Health is wealth…he should deal with his injury and come back stronger like last season.

He came to camp hiding the knock and aggravated it….two months out after the surgery.

Akor should take his place.

Unless the reports of CAF making the AFCON squad a 27 man list is true, which I doubt, Akor will most likely miss out... Peseiro seems to prefer Sadiq....
Sadiq is a good player, no doubt, but he is yet to hit form since his injury.. including him in the team isn't really necessary

Additional award categories suggested so far:
Joebie - Prospect of the year
Andsungorilla - coach of the year.

How about we also add SE prospect of the year? This category would encompass all players that are eligible to represent Nigeria regardless of their age or where they are based.

It sounds like a good idea....

Also are some of the categories all-gender inclusive, for example, like "team of the year"?
Sorry, I missed this...
The "team of the year" award is actually for the team overall, not like the best eleven. It could be any of the senior or junior male and female national teams, or club side..

Coach of the year is a good suggestion.

Sports / Re: NNFF Awards, Committee. by Danielnino00(m): 9:13am On Nov 22, 2023
The first order of business is the selection of award categories.
Here is the category from the last award:

1. Nigerian player of the year
2. Nigerian female player of the year
3. NPFL player of the year
4. Most impactful new inclusion (2021)
5. Best Ogedengbe goalkeeper of the year
6. Stephen Keshi defender of the year
7. Samuel Okwaraji midfielder of the year
8. Rasheed Yekini attacker of the year
9. Most improved player (2021)
10. Young player of the year (U-21)
11. Super eagles goal of the year
12. Best assist of the year
13. Team of the year (club or national)

If you want us to go ahead with this, please indicate. If otherwise, drop your preferred categories.

If Peseiro is indeed eying the Zamalek coaching job and has submitted his CV as rumoured, shouldn't that be a good reason for the NFF to sack him without paying any compensation,as per breach pf contractual terms? I remember Keshi being sacked (as an excuse) when it was reported that he applied for the Ivory coast coaching job.

Surely, the NFF can't be depending on Peseiro to deliver the "Letsdoitagain" agenda they have spent so much time and money on (getting celebrities endorsement)

Peseiro has never lasted more than 2 years in any of the teams he has managed in the past.... In fact, in 2016 alone, he was sacked three times from 3 different teams.... Come AFCON,he would be entering his third year with Nigeria...
Chai NFF!
