I have never been to where? grin cheesy

Why do you Nigerians always believe everyone has been what you have been through . Please I don't want to have any " travel is a status" discussions again in my life . I am beyond that kind of talk , I was born into travelling and didn't have wait till I was an adult and working before I started travelling like most of you ..

Okay back to the topic this another Democrat prop flag operation !!!! We saw Jussie Smollet do it and even went as far as buying his attackers maga hats to wear ...Ask yourself while will any cop snuff out the life of a handcuffed man that had even peed on his body in front of so many cameras and not even flinch ...It's because he was working an agenda which I predicted the moment I saw the footage and and less than 24 hours later I was proven right ...

Please don’t be offended. I’m not seeking to discredit or attack you in any way but I strongly believe you have not been to the Us. I say this cos the way you talk about american politics mirrors my own beliefs before moving to the US five years ago. Again, I don’t say this to attack or discredit you but it’s just my observation.

You see before moving to the US, I was not well informed. Everything I knew about the Us was from movies and CNN. Democrats and republicans were the same to me. Interestingly, back then, I didn’t hear much negative news about the republicans from CNN either. (Btw, Fox News is complete trash)

Additionally, unlike you, I was not well travelled either. I had only visited one country - Cotonou, before relocating to the US. I did not come from a wealthy family either. In fact you can trace my journey to the US on this forum by reading my previous posts. I came here through my Masters and was lucky to marry the woman of my dreams. Again, I don’t say any of this to brag but to highlight that I do not come from a family of means and verify that I’ve lived here for 5 years.

The thing is most Nigerians who visit or migrate here all learn one thing - that America is a completely different story from the paradise you see on TV. The democrats, although not saints, are not the enemy. The republicans are. What you will quickly learn is that every progressive, booming, well to do state or city has Democrats as leaders. And almost every regressive, poor state or city has Republican leadership. From healthcare to Medicaid to Education, Democrats leads. And you would know this if you have been here. I’m not talking Wikipedia articles, I’m talking live here on the streets. The racism, the micro-aggressions, the police brutality - you see all that when you visit or live here.

You talk of Jossie Smollet, do you have any proof Jossie is a registered Democrat? Additionally, people - whether Democrats or Republicans - lie all the time. It has nothing to do with political affiliations. Did you see the news of the white lady who claimed 2 black men kidnapped and killed her son? Turns out she killed her child herself. What if I told you she was a Republican? Does that mean all republicans are bad? So why the hate towards democrats?

What about Voters fraud in the Us? In the state I live, the Republican Party was caught committing voters fraud. Please look it up. What about healthcare? Republicans are taking away any form of health assistance to the poor and middle class. Have you heard about that? What about education? Republicans are cutting education budgets and trying to put an end to the free k-12 school system in the Us, I don’t see you talking about that either. See, I could go on and on. That’s why I ask, why the hate for Democrats and the love for republicans/Trump? Can you name one policy by Trump/Republicans that has benefitted the average American?

My point is living here gives u a completely different perspective you can never get online or from tv. And from the way you talk, it’s shows you’ve never been here.

The way that cop intentionally snuffed out the life of that black man out made sure he was doing it makes me feel this is another Democrat party operation to win black votes since the gaffe of Biden this week... There is nothing those liberals can't do

I gather they have all been dismissed

P.S

You can see how pictures of the killer cop with Trump Maga hat has surfaced now ...this is another Democrat organized Nonsense

I still don’t understand your obsession with the Democrats. Here’s a clear case a cop who is a white supremacist as well as a Trump Maga supporter and yet you still think it’s “the democrats”. And to top it all, you have never been to America but you think you know the democrats. Bros, I would encourage you to do some research, the truth would shock you.

It's 40 million Naira, not 40 million dollars.

Don’t mind them. This tells you that Nigerians don’t source information thoroughly. They would rather rely on the interpretations of a third party. In the video, jude clearly stated it was 40million Naira. Lalastica made a faulty translation and boom, the entire Nairaland is hurling insults at Jude.

Family / Re: My Husband's Family Is Sucking Him Dry by DanjaNinja(m): 6:57pm On May 19, 2020
DBestDoc:

I don't think it's peculiar to first sons. It just depends on the family and any of the kids can be picked out as the Donkey/victim. Especially, that one with a kind and selfless heart.

I dated a man with similar trait as the OP's husband and in his case, he was even the last son, hahaha. He sponsored both his older and younger siblings through school, was taking care of their families and at the time we were together, he had started sponsoring most of his Nephews and nieces through school.

At some point, i advised him to give his siblings some capital and encourage them to start some business so as to relieve the financial burden. He waved that off with the excuse that his people are not business inclined. cheesy

Oya, upgrade your educational qualifications na for better future opportunities now that you're single and have the wherewithal, Mr man said ok and after a few days he came back with the excuse of having too much family responsibilities to spare any cash for such. Apparently, one of his siblings he shared the idea with told him the program was expensive. I offered to 'loan' him the fees but he rejected the offer.

He easily ran out of cash for someone earning in 6 figures at that time. He wasn't married, no children he wasn't spending the money on me obviously but he was almost always broke. Most phone calls he received whenever we were together were money requests from family. Account will turn red immediately after pay day (i started thinking he'd been jazzed, i didn't know what else to think about. lol)

I got to understand that doing those things made him happy. That feeling of being the messiah of his family gave him some sort of satisfaction and fulfillment that nobody was allowed to deprive him of. He always confided in me that he's been there for his family since he was a boy.

The love i had for him turned to PITY and then to indifference. I saw a wonderful man with a very good heart but was non-progressive this, i couldn't deal with. His family didn't love him enough to advise him to help himself while helping them. He was a dead weight that i needed to offload. After analyzing the situation one day, i RAN without telling him why. No drama, no quarrel, i just ghosted him grin i didn't want another begging or convincing.

Red flags everywhere. It's important for young people to consider all these things before choosing a life partner. It never gets better and once you're in, you're in. Running was one of the best decisions i've made as a woman. Man is already 40 now unmarried, no kids. I just feel so sad for him because he's a nice person.

God bless you for running sis. I had an uncle just like this. It ended in tears.

I am not buying behind his back, I would tell him but I am not including his name. Do you know how many times I have told him to buy a land and start a project. He won't, he prefers spending all the money on his siblings.

Madam please dont listen to these people, they have never been in your shoes. I have an uncle who was exactly like your Husband. He was one of the biggest Shell contractors in Delta State. in the 90's. Growing up, this man's house was like Mecca. Every morning, you would find all kinds of people going there to ask for money. My uncle never said no. He gave, gave and gave. This man lived in a rented 3 bedroom apartment and sadly failed to build his own house due to bad financial planning. There was this incident i would never forget - I had gone to spend the holiday with this my uncle. On that fateful morning i was outside sweeping the compound when a lady approached and asked to know where a certain man lived. I told the lady the man she described was my uncle and this was his apartment, the lady refused to believe me and instead told me that the man she was looking for (my uncle) was not poor and would never live in such a place. I was only 9years old but i understood what she meant and it was hurtful.

Today, my uncle has a stroke and is disabled. He is being sustained by the wife and kids. Till today, this man never built a house and has no meaningful investment. None of the people he helped has come to his aid. They all deserted him.

So please, buy that land. Don't even involve your husband as he may squander your cash. Never put his name in any property you buy as his family members may take those properties in the event of his passing. Be very careful and smart about your finances, think of you and your kids First! If your husband is not interested in investments, invest by yourself.

The punishment meted out to these guys will serve as a deterrent to other officers of the immigration.

Military personel, Police officers, Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers from all over the world took part in this challenge with zero repercussions. It was simply a way to show that behind every working professional attire is a human being.

You're mixing things up: standard of living is not the same as human right. By far, america respect your right than any country in the world, even as a foreigner. Respecting your right doesnt mean illegal immigrants and miscreants should overrun the country for the sake of political correctness.

I apologize if I brought up standard of living.
But I stand by my words that America has a terrible human rights record. Please look into the justice system, it is rife with abuse! Minorities and poor Americans are treated as shit. They are arrested and jailed at 3 times the rate of whites for the same crimes. If you think SARS/Nigerian police were bad, brother you haven’t met “White” American cops. They are known and well documented cases of Ameican police arresting th innocent, falsifying records as well as planting drugs on innocent civilians. Please google this and you would be shocked.

As for respect for foreigners, I don’t know if you have been paying attention but America has been very hostile to foreigners lately. From Muslim ban to the ban of Nigerian Immigrants. It’s no longer the place you thought it was.

So open your eyes, read and be informed. Don’t be deceived by right wing media.

OZAOEKPE:

Smiles, Trump was never a scientist, even the Almighty Fauci said its a normal flu and it would go away and trump makes his judgment based on what the scientists gave to him. Even when no one agreed he should close China he did closed it far too early and that saved millions of lives. Nobody expected such a pandemic to occur and even if, don't you understand that the CDC were supposed to have presented their budget to him but they failed to do that?? As for those governors, you can't shut down an economy, there need to be a safe way to reopen for things to move slowly that's what the people are saying. The democrats blocked the latest funds he wanted to assist Americans and still you want to blame Trump for the failure of the deep state that never liked him. From day one, the media are always hostile towards him since the day he won. When he banned China they said all kind of things calling him a racist and now they are saying he's not proactive, when he was giving them guidelines the speaker of the house encouraged people to go out to China town and disregard the presidents order, the mayor of new York said they should not be worried that they got things under control, the media were first to call it Chinese virus and Wuhan virus but when Trump did they called him racist, the media when he banned China from entering told him he was too hard and that its just a flu. So they can call it flu and the president can't call it flu?? The minority leader at the senate deleted his tweet of him condemning Trump from banning China, why did he deleted it? My brother you need to stop your illogical thinking and reasoning, he has tried his best as no one expected this thing but you not worried about buhari that we had to very for him to close flight from China late march but concerned about trump that did as far back as January 31. Something must be wrong with that person that says he didn't respond on time.

I'm not a fan of Trump but i give him credit for taking a merely "symbolic" gesture in restricting travel from China. Please be aware that after the said "restrictions", over 40,000 Americans and other authorized travelers have made the trip, some this past week and many with spotty screening. That's not a real restriction in my opinion.

@CDC budget: All of Trump’s budget proposals have called for cuts to CDC funding, but Congress has intervened each time by passing spending bills with year-over-year increases for the CDC that Trump then signed into law.

@You cant shut down an economy: This argument is laughable at best. You can't have a functional economy in the midst of a devastating pandemic. The spread must be reasonably controlled before economic activities can be started. Please look to Germany for more insight. I can't say the same for the US. It's one bubbling misstep to the other.

@Blocked funds: Are you sure you understand why the funding was blocked by the Democrats? Please do your research before drawing misleading conclusions. As for the deep state, who or what exactly is the deep state? If you are referring to the state department, please be aware they work for Trump.

@Media bias: The media is largely unkind to public figures especially the Presidents. Obama had it worse and rode with it. As for Trump, I think there's a slight touch of Karma. Trump has been heavily dismissive to the media. You get what you sow. Karma is a bitch.

@Speaker and ChinaTown: Please Trump referred to the Virus as the common flu.

@Chinese/Wuhan Virus: Interestingly, i agree with Trump on this one. The chinese are racist as Bleep. Blacks are being blamed in China for the Corona Virus. Bleep them. Wuhan virus it is for me.

No one is perfect but Trump has not done really well with the Corona Virus response. Even republican senators who had internal briefings on the impact of the virus where dumping stocks in January/February. If senators knew of the potential damage, trust me, the President would was thoroughly briefed. He even claims to have unlimited executive powers, why didn't he use them?

What could Trump have done with his self-acclaimed unitary-executive power to help the nation in this time of crisis? For starters, he could have used the precious weeks of February to marshal widespread testing, which we now know would have saved countless lives, instead of falsely pretending that he had the problem under control. But even in this late moment, at least three things come immediately to mind: Mandate increased domestic production of necessary equipment, comprehensively manage the supply chain for medical equipment, and order everyone in the United States to stay home while the first wave of illness crashes over the U.S. medical system—offering it a fighting chance to stay alive and maybe even catch up with the rate of infection, illness, and death.

He did none.
