I'm actually more interested in knowing if there's anyone that's done this before here.

If a person wants to sell an online business in Nigeria generating between 500,000 and 1,000,000 naira monthly and running for 3 years how do they go about it in these parts.
I know abroad there's flippa to list sites and so on but is there any structured platform for that in Nigeria.

The distance travelled by a commercial and private vehicle can't be compared in anyway. Think about it

It was all over twitter yesterday, he was speaking at an event held in abuja yesterday.

Saw these as snippets from the World Bank Youth Forum.
What do you think? This was for just 1000 positions.
If true, I feel bad for all the graduates fighting each other on nairaland just weeks back.

Dangote group has stated that it plans to make entrepreneurs out of its Graduate Executive Truck Drivers.

Its Chairman stated this at the World Bank Youth Forum which involved a mentor dialogue with Nigeria's foremost businessman and Billionaire, Alhaji Aliko Dangote Thursday in Abuja. The forum was organized by the Coordinator, Rotimi Olawale and headed by the World Bank Country Director, Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly.


The World Bank Youth Forum was organized in a bid to engage in discussions with the government and entrepreneurs on business and development in Nigeria and Africa.

In an informal chat with the participants, Aliko Dangote shared his business story and how Dangote group rose from the beginning to become one of the largest conglomerates in Africa from 1978 till date. He added that the group's vision is to become the largest company in Africa, amongst the top 100 countries in the world and to be worth up to $75 billion by 2017.


Concerning the recent Graduate Executive Truck Driver vacancy, he revealed that over 13, 000 applications were received including applications by PHD Holders, MBA Holders, those with masters and other graduate degrees.


He explained that only 1000 drivers were needed however the idea behind getting graduates as drivers was to eventually make them entrepreneurs; owning the truck after a period. He added that the drivers get trip allowances on each trip along with their salaries; after accomplishing 300, 000 kilometres with the truck, they will own it at no interests or repayments.

The business magnate shared some of his business values and secrets which include always being willing to give back. "It is not always about money but how do I always give back to the community? Agriculture is the best business to help give back" he said. Dangote group is presently involved in Sugar, Rice and palm oil farming which he disclosed will create additional 150, 000 jobs within the next 5 years. "Food isn't cheap so the earlier we start looking at it as a business, the better".


He also noted that Dangote group was always eager and ready to work with the government of any state they were in; giving grants to indigenes, providing amenities and training youths in vocational skills.


Dangote further encouraged the participants to be hardworking, to be prudent and re-invest in business rather than spend profits.


He added that focus is needed to succeed and determination to go on in spite of challenges and Integrity as a personal value.

Ive explained everything before, read again, and its almost 2 years if you can relax and calculate, I started early last year and this is October. If you are unfortunate dont assume everyone else is.

Can you read? Don't you see a progression there? 1 first, added next, etc? I started with 6000 as I said before, reinvested into other businesses and all of them are still running profitably, if I may ask, what would I gain from deceiving you?

megareal: I wouldn't. Joining such protest without knowing the real agenda of the organisers may prove futile. Next you know, they may be invited to Aso rock villa for a close door dialogue session, then a few Ghana-must-go will change hands and the protest will fizzle out. Lack of focus and clear cut goals, greed and self aggrandisement will always remain the bane of collective achievement in this country.

I started with Web Development, before adding Bulk SMS, then started shawarma joints (I've 3 right now) last december.
All the businesses are still active and thriving.
And the people I hired are to let me focus on marketing and managing the business while they do the web design, making of shawarma, customercare, etc.

Government is responsile for creating job policies and providing the environment for investments(for job creation)... No matter how you look at it, it's still the responsibility of the government...

Yes its exactly my point, the people are going like everyone should just carry placards and go to Government house to ask for jobs, If I judge right the end of that protest would be the governor/whoever calling the leaders of the protest aside to "settle" them.
But if we identify these root causes and make a concerted plan to force the government to make it a reality, unemployment would be DRASTICALLY reduced,
Becaause of our power issue industries like Dunlop, Textile mills and co where all shut down and relocated, I doing business know how much I spend every single day on generators,

Let's force them to fix light (for industries), fix the roads (for transporters and to ease logistics), eliminate corruption (to provide a level playing ground) and provide potable water (to save us the cost of digging bore holes) and let's see how much more the nation would prosper!

If you say you are protesting that the Government should repair the roads, fix our light, provide pipe borne water and eliminate corruption, I would be at the forefront.
But can someone here tell me how a Government would provide good jobs (not lastma and road sweeper jobs) for everyone?
