Kobojunkie:
Morality in our DNA? Who sold you that dirty stash you are smoking there?
I normally avoid responding to you because you are a disgusting irritant but I will do this just this one time and I wouldn't respond to you again.
You run around these boards jumping from thread to thread posting what you assume to be your own brand of sick christianity that only the voices in your head understand. You are a jobless busy body spewing your self formed mixture of christianity and atheism and passing it off as the gospel of Christ as contained in the bible.
You are neither a bat nor a mouse but a monstrosity and a danger to yourself as well as everybody who listens to the garbage you spew.
You jump all over the place nit picking quotes without even understanding the context in which such quotes were/are made.
You are a junkie that thrives on doing this time and time again to an extent that you become entangled in the labyrinth of mischief and totally lose focus of what is being debated or discussed in a thread.

I would not say you are demented but it is obvious you suffer from a complex that screams-ME!ME!!ME!!!

Back to the thread,I sincerely enjoyed this thread and my discussion with Pastorbk who was the OP of this thread back in April. It had a nice back and forth about it in a very civil tongue, that is until the uncouth meddle some interloper kobojunkie decided to jump into the picture in August without understanding what was being discussed.......

Bayern Munich have been a delight to watch in this game. Their fast paced attack has been devastating and Lewandowski has not got on the score sheet yet.
Gnabry has been totally transformed from the player he was at Arsenal.
Barcelona are in danger of being completely obliterated.

I believe we have women in the two Chambers..... those who can remember what it feels to be separated from hubby unjustly. Nigeria is a failed state.
If you think any politician has the interest of the masses at heart then you are on a long thing. The politicians in the house and the Senate are just out to feather their own nests.

We can not continue like this.....if we will ever attain the Nigeria of our dreams, we have to put aside all these babaric acts that keep holding us down.

Hope the Senate and Honourable members would do something.
Ironically the people she is appealing to are more fanatical and sadistic than those who incarcerated him. undecided

God is truly mighty, see as atheists keep hallucinating about someone they claim does not exist.
You sound like someone who is scared and afraid of the truth.
We are not hallucinating about anything but just musing and pointing out the absurdity, inconsistency and irrationality of the fraud that is religion!

Education. Many of us attended missionary schools.
Like I said don't throw away the baby with the bath water even if religion has its evident flaws that can mostly be attributed to the leadership.
Were the mission schools free or fee paying? You need to read deeply on the role of the missionaries on under development of the various colonies.

Without prejudice to your points you do not throw away the baby with the bath water. Religion and the bible do have their uses and have shaped civilisations.
At emboldened,
Could you mention some?

I stumbled upon this song while surfing YouTube which I do most of my leisure time. What struck me about the song is the simplicity of the lyrics but also the power in the message.
Take a listen.

DrLiveLogic:
No. And god never told anyone they need a book to determine right and wrong. The conscience does that. And just as you believe in a conscience you can't see, it is possible to realise god without seeing him.
The reason for giving laws is that laws on a paper are like a document that's untampered with. However, just like you are imperfect, and imperfection affects your memory, intelligence and all. So does your imperfection tamper with your conscience, hence the need for a document for universal reference
So a book that degrades women, encourages rape, supports slavery, advocates death for witches, encourages genocide and mass murder on a grand scale, discriminates against entire civilisations and supports racism is your go to book for morality??
Give me a break.... undecided

Christian's and Islamists are quick to warn you that you risk hell fire and everlasting punishment and torture unless you repent from what they term your evil ways. They want you to imbibe what they prescribe for you in their books of dogma so that you can go to heaven and recieve your reward of everlasting life or an uncountable number of virgins.
Their books apply a carrot OR stick doctrine of obey our book and go to heaven OR disobey our book and roast in hell.
Christian zealots are fond of saying it is better to believe their dogma and find out it is not true than NOT to believe their dogma and find out it is true and end up in hell.
The also apply the trick of threatening you to imbibe their dogma because you will die sooner or later and find out their dogma is true.
My simple point today is,DO YOU REALLY NEED A BOOK BEFORE YOU KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT OR WRONG?

Are your morals determined by a shiny black book written gazillions of years ago or are they inherently scrolled to your DNA from birth? Do you need a book to tell you if it is right or wrong to kill or steal.
Think about this !
From where comes your morality?

SmartyPants:
Did I ask about the thread?

I quoted a specific post and we have engaged on that so you must be feigning ignorance if you claim not to understand that I'm saying that I'm not sure what your point is with respect to why you have referenced the particular story as evidence of alleged misogyny when the story may be about misogynistic behavior without promoting but rather condemning such.
I don't normally do but I will make an exception for the last time. I am the original poster of this thread and the title of the thread is about abuse of women in the Christian bible. The post you quoted is a sequence in the thread about how the Christian bible encourages abuse of women. Arguments about a particular post without taking into the bigger picture of how the Christian bible is a sexist, misogynistic and abusive book towards women will be a practical waste of my time and yours. This is why I advised you to go back and read the thread from the first page.
I do not engage in meaningless back and forth arguments. So I admonish you to do the same please. This will be my last response on this issue except you are ready to discuss the bigger picture of how the christian bible is a book that demeans women. I wish you well.

SmartyPants:
I don't think you get it. The fact is, the event happened. It's not narrated so that people will go out there and replicate it, it's simply a narration of something that actually happened. Neither is it there as an example of something positive. In fact it is told as an example of how degenerate the people of that area were. Their actions were condemned.

When you say the preacher should condemn the story and not the actions of those in the story which, are you saying it should not be included in the Bible? That some part of history is not pleasant means it should be untold?

Not sure I get your point.

At emboldened,
Go back to the beginning of the thread and read it again. This time very slowly. If you can't comprehend what the thread is about, then I am sorry I can't help you.

SmartyPants:
Are you able to understand that the Bible contains both a collection of instructions and narrations of events?

Now what do you expect a preacher to say about this particular story?
Quite frankly, I expect the preacher to call a spade,a spade and say IT IS A SICK,DISGUSTING MYSOGNYISTIC STORY THAT DEBASES WOMANHOOD!

It is instructive that until the only records of religious war are in relation to Abrahamic religions.
Good morning Lordreed,
Are you saying it is only the Abrahamic religions that have gone to war over religion?
Please can you clarify this point. Thank you. By the way I hope you found the selected praise and worship songs earlier posted to your taste? cool

Religion has the propensity to breed violence!
All forms of religion have the propensity to breed violence at any stage of that religions evolution. What could make a human being wake up ,strap him/herself with a bomb and walk into a crowded arena and blow himself and others to smithereens? Adherents of any religion have the potential to do this no matter how meek and docile they appear to you because there is a tendency that they want to fight for and defend their god. Religionist generally tend to be intolerant when presented with superior reasoning or logic. Religion relies more on raw emotions and dogma than reality. Religion has the power to make a physical human being believe in imaginary spiritual beings. Religion has the power to make a rational being believe in irrationality. Anything can be justified under religion including murder, wars, rape, slavery, misogyny and destruction of entire civilisations.
History is replete with men/women donning armour of war and going out to fight wars on behalf of their gods.
I just want to spare a thought for the multiplicity of people who have died in the name of religion.
Religion is the killing field of the gods!!!
Think about it.

The next song is by Tim Minchin called THANK YOU GOD!

The song is actually a play on sarcasm of how an Almighty God chooses to cure minor sicknesses and ignores major epidemics like Aids and Covid 19.
Enjoy!

So how does it affect you.
Its joblessness that's making you to search for sermons now. Seems you're jobless.

It is obvious the term intellectual property right flies over your silly head. In your haste a cleanse your apparently troubled soul of imaginary sins you open plagiarized threads all over the place trying to exhibit intellectualism that you clearly lack. Search your troubled and tormented soul and find peace!!!

How many religions are there in the world today?

4,300 religions
There are some 4,300 religions of the world. This is according to Adherents, an independent, non-religiously affiliated organisation that monitors the number and size of the world's religions.Oct 6, 2006.

Think deeply if you are an adherent of one of these religions because everyone of these 4,300 cannot be right!
If there is a god and that is a probability, then why would he allow these multiplicity of sects and cults with their various promises of reward if you obey their doctrines ?
Why would an almighty god allow men to write books of his doctrines for him/her/it?
Think deeply, for if there are 4,300 answers to the questions in your life, all of them cannot be right. Only one answer can be right. It then follows that 4299 answers are WRONG !!!

Last word~A slave has to know he/she is in bondage, before he/she can fight to be free. The indoctrination is very deep. Good day.
