Global inaction on climate change is creating a catastrophic ‘climate apartheid’ in which human rights as we know them – especially those of the world’s most vulnerable people – are themselves threatened with extinction, a United Nations (UN) official warns. Philip Alston, the UN’s Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, is an independent expert tasked with assessing how human rights are faring in all the world’s poorest places today. According to him, they’re not. “Most human rights bodies have barely begun to grapple with what climate change portends for human rights,” Alston says. “As a full-blown crisis that threatens the human rights of vast numbers of people bears down, the usual piecemeal, issue-by-issue human rights methodology is woefully insufficient.” In a blistering new report being presented to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva this week, Alston warns hundreds of millions of people will face food insecurity, forced migration, disease, and death this century – and even in the short term the mounting crises will be devastating in effect. “It could push more than 120 million more people into poverty by 2030,” Alston says. “Climate change threatens to undo the last 50 years of progress in development, global health, and poverty reduction.” The biggest risk, the report explains, is to the world’s poor; people from nations who are the least responsible for the consequences of carbon pollution, but who will feel its most severe impacts. While those in developing countries will not be the only victims of the climate crisis as it unfolds, they will be the most exposed to its dangerous environmental repercussions, Alston says. “People in poverty tend to live in areas more susceptible to climate change and in housing that is less resistant; lose relatively more when affected; have fewer resources to mitigate the effects; and get less support from social safety nets or the financial system to prevent or recover from the impact,” the report states. “Their livelihoods and assets are more exposed and they are more vulnerable to natural disasters that bring disease, crop failure, spikes in food prices, and death or disability.” It’s these types of factors, Alston writes, that help to explain why in this century alone, people in poor countries have died from disasters at rates up to seven times higher than citizens from wealthy countries. This phenomenon, which may be even more exacerbated as climate strife deepens, paints a dire picture of where things are headed. “We risk a ‘climate apartheid’ scenario where the wealthy pay to escape overheating, hunger, and conflict while the rest of the world is left to suffer,” Alston says. While the assessment identifies failures of governmental leadership (and the private sector) as the key factors behind inaction on climate change, Alston says the impending human rights crisis we’re now facing is also the result of a squandered opportunity by human rights bodies and the UN itself. “The human rights community, with a few notable exceptions, has been every bit as complacent as most governments in the face of the ultimate challenge to mankind represented by climate change,” the report states. “The steps taken by most United Nations human rights bodies have been patently inadequate and premised on forms of incremental managerialism and proceduralism which are entirely disproportionate to the urgency and magnitude of the threat. Ticking boxes will not save humanity or the planet from impending disaster.” The answer, Alston says, is to make “deep structural changes in the world economy”, transitioning to a green, sustainable economy, while providing a fair and stable safety net for workers who temporarily lose their jobs in the interim. At the same time, human rights institutions need to unshackle themselves from their caution and inertia, Alston thinks, to “step up and engage determinedly and creatively with climate change”. The challenges may be immense and unprecedented, the report acknowledges, but it also points out there is no alternative, nor any kind of enviable future on the world’s current course. “Certain people and countries have gotten incredibly wealthy through emissions without paying for the costs,” Alston writes. “Staying the course will not preserve growth in the long term, but will be disastrous for the global economy and pull hundreds of millions into poverty. “Climate action should not be viewed as an impediment to economic growth but as an impetus for decoupling economic growth from emissions and resource extraction, and a catalyst for a green economic transition, labour rights improvements, and poverty elimination efforts.” The draft report is available at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights website. https://decoffeehublounge./2019/06/28/were-headed-for-a-class-based-climate-apartheid-capable-of-pushing-120-more-people-into-poverty/ |
In 2015, a Swiss graduate student departed from the Zurich airport with a suitcase filled with empty wallets, loads of cash and 400 spare keys. The authorities stopped him with questions. It was for a science experiment, he explained. He was part of a team of behavioral researchers tackling two important questions: Do people around the world return lost wallets? And does the amount of cash in a wallet make a difference? Members of the team traveled to 355 cities in 40 countries with suspicious baggage that carried more than 17,000 wallets. Staff members of institutions such as museums, banks and police stations unknowingly became part of a global field experiment of civic honesty when they were presented with wallets that supposedly had been lost. Regardless of country, people were more likely to try to return wallets with larger amounts of money inside, according to a new study published Thursday in Science. This butts against long-standing economic models that predict people are more likely to be dishonest when the potential payout is larger. The study shows people overwhelmingly see themselves as good people and seek to maintain that image, even if it overrides the impulse to get ahead, said psychologist Nina Mazar of Boston University, who has studied honesty in lab conditions. The new study goes a step beyond her work by testing honesty in everyday life. For each experiment, a young European tourist walked into a bank or another institution with a wallet containing a shopping list, a key and a few duplicate business cards written in the local language. The tourist hands the wallet to a bank teller and, before quickly exiting, says: “I found this on the street near the entrance. Someone must have lost it. Can you take care of it?” In some cases the teller would discover the wallet contained no money. In other cases there was US$15 in local currency. In some wealthier countries, some wallets had either no money, US$15 or almost US$100. The tourists in these experiments, of course, were research assistants. The fact that people were more likely to return wallets that included money (especially a lot of money) surprised the researchers. It also surprised the 300 top academic economists they surveyed, who predicted people would be more likely to keep the wallets with money. “When a behavior is surprising, that’s when you want to be cautious about over interpreting what this means for society,” said Abigail Marsh, psychologist at Georgetown University, who was not involved in the study. “But what I like about this study is that is supports so much of the data out there . . . that most people are trying to do the right thing most of the time.” https://decoffeehublounge./2019/06/27/icymi-scientists-used-17000-lost-wallets-to-study-how-honest-people-really-are/ |
The Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved sales of a new drug intended to enhance sexual desire in women. Marketed as Vyleesi, also known as bremelanotide, the medication is a shot that comes in a push pen device that can be self-administered as needed for premenopausal women who experience distress as a result of low sexual desire. “There are women who, for no known reason, have reduced sexual desire that causes marked distress, and who can benefit from safe and effective pharmacologic treatment,” Hylton Joffe, director of the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research’s Division of Bone, Reproductive and Urologic Products, said in a statement. “Today’s approval provides women with another treatment option for this condition. As part of the FDA’s commitment to protect and advance the health of women, we’ll continue to support the development of safe and effective treatments for female sexual dysfunction.” Julie Krop, chief medical officer for AMAG Pharmaceuticals Inc., which makes the drug, recommends using it about 45 minutes before the “anticipation” of intimacy. She said the drug activates key brain receptors involved in sexual responses by reducing inhibition and increasing what’s known as neural excitation. “It’s not just about low sexual desire, but about how it impacts patients’ relationships and quality of life,” Krop said in an interview. “These women are really suffering.” The drug is intended to be a treatment for hypoactive sexual desire disorder, or HSDD, which the medical community recognizes can be a serious issue. The FDA acknowledged that it’s not clear how Vyleesi acts in the brain to affect sexual desire or distress. It advises women to use no more than one dose in 24 hours or eight a month. And there’s disagreement about whether drugs are the right approach — low sexual desire can be a result of numerous psychological, physiological or external factors, including stress — and how widespread the condition really is. One study estimated that as many as 1 out of 10 women may have low sexual desire, and the FDA several years ago convened a meeting to better understand the impact of female sexual dysfunction. Critics have pointed out that nearly all of the doctors on the recent panel that defined HSDD were consultants or advisory board members for Sprout Pharmaceuticals, the drugmaker that introduced the world to the first women’s libido drug, Addyi, also known as flibanserin, in 2015. On Vyleesi, several women’s health advocates said more information was needed before approval. They noted that the FDA had not convened an advisory panel to scrutinize the drug. “It is unfortunate that the FDA decided to approve this drug despite the skimpy peer-reviewed data and complete lack of long-use safety information,” said Diana Zuckerman, president of the National Center for Health Research. “The good news is that it doesn’t need to be taken every day, the way Addyi does. The bad news is that the public can’t have confidence in the safety of the drug because we don’t have access to long-term safety information about it.” Cynthia Pearson, executive director of the National Women’s Health Network, said the group was “disappointed” by the approval and said that women “simply do not have enough information to make an informed decision about whether the drug is safe and effective.” Earlier this year, Sprout caused a stir with a campaign that told women they have a “right to desire.” “Why aren’t we talking about it?” the ads asked. Women’s groups that focus on access to birth control and abortion took issue with the idea of invoking civil rights language for what they essentially called a sales pitch. AMAG, which is based in Waltham, Mass., has done its own disease awareness outreach about HSDD this year through its Instagram and Facebook “unblush” campaign, which told women that “HSDD is nothing to blush about.” Addyi never really took off, partly because it is a daily pill that takes a while to work, and the product carries a “black box” label that warned of serious side effects such as dizziness and low blood pressure when the drug was taken with alcohol. The FDA softened the warning in April to advise women that while complications may still exist with alcohol, they needn’t avoid it entirely. In May, Sprout released the results of three safety studies that appeared to bolster the idea that the link to side effects was not as clear as previously thought. The effectiveness and safety of Vyleesi were studied in two 24-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials in more than 1,200 premenopausal women with HSDD. Most patients used Vyleesi two or three times per month and no more than once a week. In these trials, about 25 percent of patients treated with Vyleesi had an increase in their sexual desire score, compared to about 17 percent of those who took a placebo. About 35 percent of the patients treated with Vyleesi had a decrease of one or more in their distress score, compared to about 31 percent of those who took a placebo, the FDA said. Side effects during the trial included headaches, flushing and nausea. Initial consumer uptake of Vyleesi is expected to be slow, according to industry analysts. But some expect revenue to increase significantly over time, hitting as much as $150 million by 2030, according to Barclays. https://decoffeehublounge./2019/06/27/a-new-female-viagra-is-approved-despite-concerns/ |
INEC ft APC FG vs Atiku Reminds me of a certain John Grisham novel (The King of Torts) INEC is doing the tort scam lawyer tricks on their server issue by giving 'automatic' employment to NYSC members who 'performed well' during the election...at this moment when the server issue is getting hot hot. Those corpers will most likely be witness in court as delay tactic, jury pity (if applicable), etc |
I love science. Space travel, genetics, biochemistry (emotion: A topic for another day), biotechnology, robotics, A.I and other futuristic sciences like nanotechnology etc. My love for science makes me view the human body in a different light, let me explain. You see, the human body functions just like a machine. The heart is like the main engine (no wonder terrorists like to eat the heart of their victims to inspire fear in their enemies), the lungs is like a filtration system sorting out the air we breath. The air of course acts like a catalyst, mixing with the red blood cell which runs throughout the body, gets sorted out in the heart and expelled. The act of breathing is astounding! The nose acts like a suction device, sucking in air mixed with all sorts including dirt and microparticles which gets sorted out in the lungs. Even our aura, acts like a buffer and shield. Every part of out body functions mechanically with precision. The first generation of man most certainly didn’t have a sense of commerce and industry. The priority was simple; food, sex and security. The genetic make up of the first generation didn’t have the latent knowledge stored in the DNA. As humans gained knowledge, so did the information stored in the DNA changes to accommodate the new knowledge. The collective stored knowledge in the DNA is what is manifesting as reality to many. A son having the same smile as the father, or thoughtfulness as the mother are visible signs. We are now in the Homo sapiens or Homo sapiens sapiens level. In my opinion, there’s already a change, a shift, an evolution taking place and we are at the tipping point when it’s time something drastic happens which alters the human race. The signs are already here, the current level where biotechnology, robotics and genetics are is remarkable. The gene mapping, the Internet are also part of the big puzzle. I believe in my generation, the scientific big bang is going to happen. Some scientists predict a major event called the Singularity (Google it). When it comes, and it will come, I do hope mankind can be kind enough to treat the universe well, because God knows we are messing up this planet with our waste, our wars and our greed. Anyway, we’ve got bigger things to think about when the time comes like; are we ready to meet other sentient and intelligent life forms from other solar system, galaxy or dimensions? Are we matured enough? United enough? Will the new evolved humans be monsters to those who refuse to evolve? Will the evolution be voluntary or forced? Will it come to pass as a result of our hands or will it be by divine intervention? What are we going to evolve to? https://decoffeehublounge./2019/06/12/evolving-to-what/ |
Ding! Henry’s phone rang out, a message finally. Swiftly, he unlocked his phone, thinking inwardly, why do I need to lock this damn phone when I’ve got nothing to protect. With a sigh, he opened his inbox and the job interview he was hoping for was looking at him back as if daring him to read it. Job interview from SFLead. Bastards! He cursed out loud, he wanted to smash his phone because he knew who those guys were, absolute frauds who prey on the vulnerable job seekers, scamming them of their little resources. He remembered vividly when his mumu caught up with him when a similar company almost played a smart one on him, he wasted N2,000 on transport that day, he remembered the false feeling of hope when those frauds almost brainwashed him to give them N40,000 for a job that makes no sense. GNLD or multilevel marketing people or whatever fancy name they like to call themselves…with a frustrated groan, Henry wished he could come across one of those scammers in his area, he will so…DING! Henry’s phone buzzed angrily as if it agreed with his current dark mood. Miraculously, it was another job interview email this time around. His phone wasn’t having a good reception for this sort of thing, Yahoomail app doesn’t support any sort of mediocre slow network like his current location, so he paid for his meal, plugged his earphones but didn’t turn on his radio or music. At this point, Henry wasn’t in the mood for chit chat, depression has darkened his mood for the past few months. He just wanted to have a clear mind to focus on his next moves. He briefly thought of Shade, his new crush, he always felt his inability to be in a relationship with anyone was because of his current employment status. Shade was someone who had his time online, they connected on Facebook and began chatting daily on WhatsApp. Like the other girls, he knew Shade will soon get bored and move on when whatever demons chasing her too has been tamed, at least it’s not demons like unemployment. Unemployment in Nigeria is changing the mindset of many youths, the depression, and feeling of been left behind makes large number of youth change their perception from positive and hopeful to negative and defeatist. This type of mindset is hurtful because the effect it has is diverse according to sexes. For instance, females begin to use sex as survival tactics while the male venture into sports betting, wrong friendships, and bad behavior. It’s no surprise people are killing themselves in large number lately. The pain is unbearable sometimes because, without employment, a person is vulnerable to any mistake or events that money would have solved. And when those events pile up, the pressure becomes toxic enough for some to commit suicide and end it immediately. Depression isn’t seen as an illness in Nigeria yet, so medical attention isn’t given to many depressed people, the masses will rather attempt to use their twisted religious talks to make you feel depressed about been depressed. As Henry approached his house gate, another form of depression sets in. Emotional depression caused by a toxic parent. Let us know if you can relate to this. 8 pm, the time of the day when we reflect on the happenings of the day. Reflecting on the workplace intrigues occurs at this time, the smiles, the experience and of course the ever-present office politics…all these passes through our ever active minds. From a personal point of view, this is when I look back at the day’s activities, analyzing what went wrong and also the day’s success. This is when I also subconsciously begin to actively plan for the next day’s activities. In other not to waste much time thinking and planning, my mental ‘To do’ list begins to take shape. From crafting the perfect reply to that larger than life manager to the office crush. The answers to the ‘Whys, hows, whens, whats and where’ of the next days’ activities are meticulously prepared, rehearsed and memorized before my bus reaches my last bus stop (I get home shortly before 9 pm daily, in case you are wondering) 8 pm, the only time I have to briefly glance through my LinkedIn app and craft my version of the perfect LinkedIn update, which incidentally has been targeted at the incompetencies of Nigerian managers… I’ll stop here before I digress into the forbidden Facebook topic. Back to my musings, 8 pm is a sacred time, a holy time somewhat, because this is the time I allocate for sober reflection, planning, and perfecting policies, both office, and home policies. This is when I also evaluate my friendship and place each individual in the categories they belong – Friends, foes or frenemies… We live in a fluid and dynamic world, and to be honest, I’m an advocate of the saying – ‘There’s no permanent friends/enemy, but permanent self-interest. Do you have your 8 pm too? Share how you handle your emotions after the day’s drama… https://decoffeehublounge./2019/05/30/what-goes-down-at-8pm/ PS: Join our Telegram Job Group. Daring to be a content developer and be the best at it is one of my not-so-secret fantasies. It’s a good thing being spiritual helps out as well. In this our current world, those who dare and take risk wins (maybe). Simple as 123x. These days, I find myself speaking these words: I dare you to love, be happy and be the man my loved ones would be proud of. All through the year, one question remains, what the hell happened to our new year resolutions? To cut back on the addictive trends and be sober? Not many people are aware of the private battles you face daily, the constant heartaches you replace with an outwardly smile or the nervous laughter deployed to mask fear…ah, life is indeed beautiful. Having people around is way different from having friends around. The constant chatter of people around only serves as a reminder to how lonely life truly can be when we feel we are missing out on all the fun so many people claim to be experiencing. I’ve got great news, worrying never solves shit. Even shit, literally is a case for the biologists and the microbiologists to figure out. Trust me, I would know, I’m a scientist after all. The solution? Cheer yourself up, take a chill pill. Yes, Nigeria can be a messed up place to live in when you feel the world is on your shoulders. Your home might be a tough nut to crack because you feel different from others around; I say this to you, never have any fear or have any doubts about how good life can really be. Life is many things, so why don’t we all see life from a different point of view whenever the depressing feelings come in and just do a Bleep it yoga to clear up the muddled thoughts. We are living at the mercy of the oceans, live your life like a tsunami is programmed to wreck it all soon. Have no bloody regrets and most importantly, love hard, love fast and keep the fear of breakups at bay. I dare you to love, I dare you to stop hating, I dare you to end the self-inflicted depression, I dare you to be happy. I dare you to laugh without shame, I dare you to call your crush and proclaim your undying love, I dare you to be happy. I double dare myself to heed my words. Comment on what makes you sad or depressed and take all that negativity off your beautiful mind. https://decoffeehublounge./2019/06/01/worried-chaotic-feelings-just-love/ Join the Telegram Job Vacancy group shown in the blog |

This is true. Very shameful of nairaland to act this way. They want a better Nigeria but still do like idiots because of money. Hypocrite. Making rules and collecting money to break the same rules. Stoopid capitalist |
Isn't it kinda illegal to take photos of court proceedings? Many use sketches for this sort of thing. Who took that photo? It's definitely a lawyer |
I have a contact from Iran who needs them in large quantities for medical research reasons. Thanks |

The prison
|
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is being held at Belmarsh Prison, a notorious jail in southeast London that’s earned the moniker of ‘Britain’s Guantanamo Bay’ as a holding facility for terrorists and other high-profile prisoners. Of interest to Nigerians are the two inmates, Micheal Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale are British of Nigerian descent, were raised as Christians, and converted to Islam. Both are accused of killing Fusilier Rigby as he returned to Woolwich Barracks on May 22. The father of one died from multiple cut and stab wounds when he was attacked in Artillery Place. Rigby was off duty and walking along Wellington Street when he was attacked. Adebolajo and Adebowale ran him down with a car, then used knives and a cleaver to stab and hack him to death. The men dragged Rigby’s body into the road and remained at the scene until police arrived. They told passers-by that they had killed a soldier to avenge the killing of Muslims by the British armed forces. Unarmed police arrived at the scene nine minutes after an emergency call was received and set up a cordon. Armed police officers arrived five minutes later. The assailants, armed with a cleaver and brandishing a gun, charged at the police, who fired shots that wounded them both. They were apprehended and taken to separate hospitals. On 19 December 2013, both of the attackers were found guilty of Rigby’s murder. On 26 February 2014, they were sentenced to life imprisonment, with Adebolajo given a whole life order and Adebowale ordered to serve at least 45 years. The affair had it’s own controversy, Adebolajo was arrested in Kenya for terrorism, members of his family said he was “pestered” by MI5 agents pressuring him to become an informant for them and infiltrate radical Islamic extremist groups. In 2017, he was said to have converted some of the inmates to Islam, when he confessed in 2018, A source told The Sun: “Adebolajo is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous extremists in the prison system. “He has never wavered from his beliefs before — which makes this confession all the more remarkable. https://decoffeehublounge./category/blog/

IMF always love anything that has to do with taxes. Tax your people more and they'll sing your praises |
Hate can make eggs boil without water. Just sit and keep the hate going nonstop. This is the advice I love to give people, those hate apostles, humans with hate filled hearts, especially those who can’t live a day without hating someone or something new. Haven’t you met people who hate their family, hate their colleagues, hate their neighbors, hate their community? Can such person really find happiness in anything without seeking psychological help? I don’t think so. They will love strangers for a few moments and revert to their hate filled default. You have yet to come across hate if you haven’t spent time living with an actual hateful person. A friend of mine told me about his experience living with a hateful dad. Growing up was a nightmare with constant shouting, cursing, verbal and physical abuse, exposure to voodoo (dad liked his spiritual game, he knows his hate has consequences) and crazy mind games. On a whim, the dad can curse the generation of his children because his hateful nature is mixed with anger problems. Did I also mention the dad is a chronic womanizer and acute liar? No surprises there! Some people express dislike and move on without fuss, while some express dislike and use all mental effort to change that dislike to full blown hate. Using my friend’s dad as an example, this is not because his gist is interesting, it’s simply because such hateful person needs to be studied so as to prevent others from making that same mistake when choosing their marriage partner. This man was rejected by majority of his wife’s family before they were married because many of them could see through his bullshit, they could smell the hate radiating from his smiles whenever he visits. The marriage experience was shit, in terms of percentage, it was 20% happy 80% negative feelings. This is how the man raised his kids and maintained his home, in a hate filled culture and little social interaction. He also loved isolating his family from the outside world, he hates seeing his kids happy, hates seeing his wife smiling or having fun with friends or having her friends visit her, hates seeing the kids friends, hates seeing the kids play, very abusive and very quick to use the belt or hands on his family at the slightest itch. The wife is the direct opposite of him, a calm, welcoming and joy filled woman. I think she’s not blessed to marry such an hateful person but what do I Know. What I do know is the negative effect the hate filled influence is having on my friends and his siblings. They are all hot blooded, although to be fair, they all understand the source of their hidden anger and they are doing their best to tame and control what they have been exposed to all their lives. Why build a republic of hate around you? Why not surrender to positive emotions like empathy, understanding and joy or satisfaction? You could keep in touch better if you really want to. You can break the addiction of building republics of hate around you, unless been miserable is what you consider normal behavior. There are much more benefits when you build an atmosphere of love around you compared to that of hate. Everyone disliking your attitude of hate is not something to be proud of, it’s something to be ashamed and scared about. Know this: 1. The scenario you paint in your mind is not always correct 2. You can’t accurately judge a facial expression or body language 3. The world doesn’t revolve around you 4. The more you push hate to people, the more you receive emotional distance from your loved ones 5. If you must truly hate, keep your distance and live your own life. 6. No one respects a hater 7. Your hate will keep you economically grounded, if your workers hate you, then don’t expect much profits 8. Your hate can never boil an egg, but will only burn necessary connections 9. Remember your old age, if your kids abandon you, you’ll die faster and more miserable than you planned. No one can stand a hateful elderly person. 10. Everyone around you know you are a hater and they tolerate you, reciprocate or enjoy the republic of hate you rule over Until the next blog update, do enjoy your day. Love, don’t hate! https://decoffeehublounge./2019/04/02/the-republic-of-hate/ |
Lordave:Social media makes ghosting very easy. |
You meet someone great, after a short period of happy times, they just stopped responding and communicating with you like before, it’s like they begin to erect barriers that weren’t there in the beginning. They begin to act like a ghost, appearing and reappearing in extended time gap. This is a familiar experience right? Don’t hate me but I’m also guilty of been the ghost in friendships and relationships. Ghosts and Fairweather friends are different things. A ghost will stand by you in times whenever they pop up in your life, they will do their natural best and see you through as far as they haven’t done their disappearing act yet. Fairweather friends bolt at first exposure to uncomfortable situations. How do you keep in touch when you have nothing to share? Do you just send ‘hi’ and begin the wait game (waiting for the other person to take charge of the conversation) or do you ask the usual questions like have you eaten, what did you have for breakfast etc… How do you keep in touch when your own life is in a mess? How do you keep in touch with friends who are working and you are jobless? How do you keep in touch when you have been single for so long you need a class on dating again. Many thoughts makes us to silently admire our friends from a far. Psychologically though, even if your life is blessed with very little economic pressure, is your mental health OK? Is the family united? Is your prayer life existing? and is moral compass working? Is your style of keeping in touch laced with talking about people rather than self? How can you keep in touch well when your mind is not settled? People who have no qualms with daily gisting don’t know how lucky they are. As for you having this problem of keeping in touch, I know you wish you could keep in touch better and develop better friendships and relationships. I really wish your desires come through. Telling you a list of things to do daily or weekly won’t work because you know what to do to keep in touch better, maybe you need to check your mental state of mind and pin point what exactly is making you not to trust or believe in people long enough as you would have preferred. Till my next blog post, I wish you a fantastic day https://decoffeehublounge./2019/03/30/how-can-i-solve-my-keeping-in-touch-problem/ |
Basic Points of the new internet copyright rule are: Internet platforms are liable for content that users upload Some uploaded material, such as memes or GIFs, now specifically excluded from directive Hyperlinks to news articles, accompanied by “individual words or very short extracts”, can be shared freely Journalists must get a share of any copyright-related revenue obtained by their news publisher Start-up platforms subject to lighter obligations The free internet faces many battles. We have the morality battles, privacy wars, plagiarism skirmishes, security standoffs… In this battle for the right to internet godfatherism, internet giants such as Facebook and Twitter often fall prey to the predatory nature of politicians and other suited or uniformed folks. Their secret weapon? Regulations, more regulations! In this reactionist era, we have seen how the internet has been increasingly policed by acts of law, public hearing of it’s giants and a total lack of citizen input to the directions those law or hearings take. Over the years, 2 continents that ironically preach more freedoms are the main bad guys when it comes to the free internet. I challenge you to do an analysis on how many times the United States and European Union have dragged certain aspect of the internet to court or their Congress hearings or to their Parliamentary hearings compared to other continents like Asia and Africa. The Russiagate annoyance led to the the invitation of Mark Zuckerberg to congress, led to some stupid algorithm to counter fake news (As if algorithm are sentient), the European Union case is not so much about reactionist tendencies like the United States, it’s more of a table shaking experiment. On the positive side of the spectrum, this new copyright rules for the internet seems to be in favor of the little man to some extent. I love and dislike the new rule. The new legislation has been met with cheers from big publishers and record labels, and dismay from the rest of the internet, with many fearing it will kill creative freedom with big tech like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter being forced to block content that might infringe on copyright. It has been suggested that online platforms can embed filters that would automatically analyze the content being uploaded, compare it to a database of copyrighted works, and stop it from being released if found in violation of copyright law. Article 11 of the law known as the “link tax” requires a blogger, a news aggregator or a media-monitoring website to seek permission from the copyright owner to share links and snippets of its content. However, for many netizens the most nefarious part of the directive is that it could have outlawed memes and GIFs, previously protected under a parody clause. Many breathed a sigh of relief when the European Parliament noted that sharing memes and GIFs would be “specifically excluded” from its scope, but others remain skeptical about an automated filter’s ability to tell parody from copyright infringement. According to the European Union: Creatives and news publishers will be empowered to negotiate with internet giants thanks to new copyright rules which also contain safeguards on freedom of expression. The directive aims to ensure that the longstanding rights and obligations of copyright law also apply to the internet. YouTube, Facebook and Google News are some of the internet household names that will be most directly affected by this legislation. The directive also strives to ensure that the internet remains a space for freedom of expression. Tech giants to share revenue with artists and journalists The directive aims to enhance rights holders’ chances, notably musicians, performers and script authors, (creatives) as well as news publishers, to negotiate better remuneration deals for the use of their works when these feature on internet platforms. It does this by making internet platforms directly liable for content uploaded to their site and by automatically giving the right to news publishers to negotiate deals on behalf of its journalists for news stories used by news aggregators. Locking in freedom of expression Numerous provisions are specifically designed to ensure the internet remains a space for freedom of expression. As sharing snippets of news articles is specifically excluded from the scope of the directive, it can continue exactly as before. However, the directive also contains provisions to avoid news aggregators abusing this. The ‘snippet’ can therefore continue to appear in a Google News newsfeeds, for example, or when an article is shared on Facebook, provided it is “very short”. Uploading protected works for quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody or pastiche has been protected even more than it was before, ensuring that memes and Gifs will continue to be available and shareable on online platforms. Many online platforms will not be affected The text also specifies that uploading works to online encyclopedias in a non-commercial way, such as Wikipedia, or open source software platforms, such as GitHub, will automatically be excluded from the scope of this directive. Start-up platforms will be subject to lighter obligations than more established ones. Stronger negotiating rights for authors and performers Authors and performers will be able to claim additional remuneration from the distributor exploiting their rights when the remuneration originally agreed is disproportionately low when compared to the benefits derived by the distributer. Helping cutting edge research and preserving heritage The directive aims to make it easier for copyrighted material to be used freely through text and data mining, thereby removing a significant competitive disadvantage that European researchers currently face. It also stipulates that copyright restrictions will not apply to content used for teaching or illustration. Finally, the directive also allows copyrighted material to be used free-of-charge to preserve cultural heritage. Out-of-commerce works can be used where no collective management organisation exists that can issue a license. How this directive changes the status quo Currently, internet companies have little incentive to sign fair licensing agreements with rights holders, because they are not considered liable for the content that their users upload. They are only obliged to remove infringing content when a rights holder asks them to do so. However, this is cumbersome for rights holders and does not guarantee them a fair revenue. Making internet companies liable will enhance rights holders’ chances (notably musicians, performers and script authors, as well as news publishers and journalists) to secure fair licensing agreements, thereby obtaining fairer remuneration for the use of their works exploited digitally. The wordings of the EU new copyright rule looks nice enough but why is the internet sad about the affair? Websites and businesses across Europe protested against the controversial changes to online copyright being introduced by the European Union. Ahead of the final vote on the legislation on March 26th, a number of European Wikipedia sites went dark for the day, blocking all access and directing users to contact their local EU representative to protest the laws. Other major sites, such as Twitch and PornHub, are showing protest banners on their homepages and social media. Meanwhile, any users uploading content to Reddit was shown this notice: Although the directive mostly contains common-sense changes for the internet age, two provisions have been singled out by critics as potentially dangerous. These are Article 11, which lets publishers charge platforms if they link to their stories (the ‘link tax’), and Article 13, which makes platforms legally responsible for users uploading copyrighted material (the so-called ‘upload filter’). Champions of the directive say these laws will give publishers and content creators the tools they need to reclaim the value of their work from US tech giants. But critics say the politicians behind the legislation do not understand the breadth of the laws they are proposing, and that the directive, if implemented, will harm free expression online. Article 13 is particularly dangerous, say critics. It will make all platforms hosting user-generated content (everything from Imgur to Tumblr to YouTube) legally responsible for users uploading copyrighted content. The only way to stop these uploads, say critics, will be to scan content before its uploaded, leading to the creation of filters that will likely be error-prone and abused by copyright trolls. Wikimedia, the nonprofit that runs Wikipedia, said the rules would be a “net loss for free knowledge.” Volunteer editors for the German, Czech, Danish, and Slovak Wikipedias have all blacked out their sites for the day — an action that recalls the much more widespread internet blackouts that took place in 2012 to protest the controversial US SOPA bill. As well as the website blackout, more than five million internet users have signed a petition protesting Article 13. The joke will most likely be on content creators, the very people the new laws are meant to protect, while also leaving internet users with less to laugh about, literally. Content creators who oppose the new rule say that it could end up censoring their work instead of protecting copyrighted material as intended. At issue is a portion of the proposed directive called Article 13, which requires internet platforms to police content for copyright violations before it goes up, rather than responding to violation complaints on a case-by-case basis, as they do now. In order to contend with the massive amounts of content being uploaded every moment to sites like YouTube, for example, the platforms will need to install “upload filters” which will analyze works and reject copyright violators. But the automated filters aren’t exactly discerning, and they won’t be able to consider all the nuances of intellectual property law, which does allow copyrighted materials to be used for parody, news, and when a work is transformative, for example. An upload filter won’t necessarily be able to distinguish between a meme, say, that relies on a copyrighted image for humorous purposes, and infringement. That means content based on copyrighted materials, but fairly used, will end up censored, according to the legislation’s opponents, who have dubbed Article 13 the “meme ban.” This legislation will harm independent and commercial creators, as well as the cultures in which they operate, says digital rights activist Hannah Machlin, who is working with Create Refresh, a group of artists and about 40 organizations, including Creative Commons and Wikimedia France, to oppose Article 13. Machlin argues that the filters will end up censoring political satire—and free speech, as a result. Parodying political events and figures is critical to maintaining debate in a lively democracy, she contends, but the upload filters won’t recognize the content. Beyond parody, the upload filters will restrict the circulation of all kinds of art, she argues. “The filters won’t know when nudity is artistic as opposed to pornographic,” Machlin tells Quartz. And creators of many forms which rely on sampling will suffer, like DJs. On a deeper level, the legislation will have a chilling effect on art in general, as all creative work is highly referential, argues street artist Jack El Diablo on the Create Refresh website. Restrictions on use, monitored by machines, will end up stunting creativity, rather than protecting the rights of content producers, he and others believe. Web Takeover Paradoxically, the new law will likely also end up consolidating the power that major tech companies already have on the internet, rather than just making them more responsible netizens as initially intended. Giants like Google, which will have to create a filtering algorithm, will end up selling their filtering services to smaller platforms that can’t afford to develop their own. And that means big companies will end up being the European internet’s de facto intellectual property police and will have access to even more data than ever before. Machlin and others are worried about handing over all this power to major corporations. Any site that hosts user-generated content will need a filter if it’s been online for three years, generates more than €10 million annually (about $11.33 million), and has more than 5 million unique monthly visitors. Although Article 13 doesn’t explicitly mandate automated upload filters, this is the only feasible way to handle the mass of content going online all the time. So, the practical result will be automated culling of creative content done according to algorithms which are designed by tech giants with their considerable means. Smaller platforms will use the filters created by large IT companies for this purpose, just as they already use analytics tools by Facebook, Amazon and Google, according to Ulrich Kelber, Germany’s Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. Article 13 will thus consolidate big tech’s hold on the internet and presents a huge data privacy risk, he says. In a Feb. 26 statement about the copyright directive, officially translated into English for the Foss Patents blog, Kelber warns: At the end of the day, this would result in an oligopoly consisting of a few vendors of filtering technologies, which would then be instrumental to more or less the entire Internet data traffic of relevant platforms and services. The wealth of information those vendors would receive about all users in the process is evidenced by, among other examples, current media coverage of data transfers by eHealth apps to Facebook. Therefore, the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information sees a clear and present danger of a further concentration of data in the hands of an oligopoly of vendors as an adverse effect of the present EU proposal. In September, The Verge wrote about the new EU copyright directive, stating, “Exactly how the legislation will be interpreted will be up to individual nations, but the shift in the balance of power is clear: the web’s biggest tech companies are losing their grip on the internet.” The law hasn’t even been finally voted upon, and it will take two more years for individual nations to integrate the EU legislation into their own legal frameworks, but already that initial perception seems both naive and dated. Based on Kelber’s concerns, it now seems much more likely that the copyright directive will only tighten big tech’s hold and that upload filters could end up trapping small platforms, creators, and internet users in the wide net being cast in the name of creativity. Fun facts about this controversial law is that Beatles star Paul McCartney, an artist, backed the law, but Tim Berners Lee, inventor of the world wide web, cautioned against it. Right after graduation, I started my first online store called YouthTrends in 2011. The store existed only on Facebook, Google + and blogger. I never knew what I was doing was called digital marketing, I only wanted to sell trendy and hot looking fashion items at very affordable price. I was located in Malaysia and my customer base was Nigeria. This business birthed the passion for Social media marketing, digital marketing and all the other forms of online marketing like content marketing (don't be confused with the fancy names, their modus operandi is similar. Passion is sweet when it also brings profits. The online store was successful, I made good profits despite the 2 weeks shipping delay and the once in a while business risk when dealing with Nigerian online. I was scammed twice, that's a story for another day. Back to my bipolar career story, my first 3 jobs after the compulsory youth service were all in digital marketing including online editing (my boss should have called it content management). This was my last official paying gig in the digital sphere, my exposure to the job description and eventual duties as an editor ignited the passion for Human Resources, recruitment, talent acquisition and management. This new found love for HR makes me feel guilty for not giving digital marketing all my attention and like a jealous wife, the guilt often transcends to CV confusion since I'd love to show my skills to potential recruiters and bosses. At one end of the mental spectrum, digital marketing gets a bragging right here and there, just as well as Human Resources creeps up like a stalking obsessed clingy girlfriend. Both career battle for my mental attention, I take courses on Human Resources while I actively horn my digital marketing skills by operating a WordPress hosted blog (Not a fan of blogger), I own a Facebook group called De'Coffee Hub, a Facebook page called The Coffee Hub, WhatsApp group (Shutdown due to change of direction) and lastly a Telegram group also called De'Coffee Hub. I see them as my digital assets. In the Telegram group, digital marketing has coitus with human resources like a smooth blend of smoothie. Using digital marketing skills, the telegram group is growing organically, still in the lag phase, but this is normal in digital marketing, you grow until the growth comes automatically and you become a pillar of some sorts in your preferred audience niche. The aim of the Telegram group is to share fresh and current job vacancies, career advice, networking, CV talks and all those mushy mushy human resources tales of joy and woes. You see, even in a bipolar state of career, chaos is managed due to my very open nature to learn, unlearn and relearn skills, thoughts and mindset. It's a maze one can get missing in and some eventually lose their identities in the process, like a medical specialist with passion for building drones, at what point do we replace his title from Doctor to Engineer? Is your career having a bipolar mindset and direction? Share your tales and experience in the comment section, let's learn together. #HR #DigitalMarketing #Bipola #Career #Jobs #Vacancy https:///gh29nWt |

Surrender is that moment when all your ideas, all your hopes, all your posturing, all your scheming, all your lifelines are over and done, and you are totally and completely at someone else’s mercy. We often think of surrender in terms of war. In a battle, surrender usually leads to imprisonment, torture or death. So if you find yourself in a fight, you do everything you can to avoid surrender because that’s usually the end of your story. I say this to you today, surrendering isn’t the end of the world. Like the famous saying, losing the battle to win the war. Others can also relate to it via the anecdote: Those who run from a fight, lives to fight another day. You see, surrendering isn’t a suicide mission, in fact, it can be healthy. Complete surrender. Have you ever being in a situation where only trusting in a superior entity ‘God’ when faced with crises? Or is your “surrender” qualified on the problem working out to your satisfaction? Even the Christian Holy book attrmpted ti explain the concept of surrendering in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matthew tells us that three times Jesus begged God for escape from His anguishing circumstance, “Let this cup of suffering be taken away from Me.” But like the friends in Daniel, three times Jesus added this critical coda, “Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine.” Complete surrender. Are you yet in the place where you trust someone or God’s will for you, even if it might mean more anguish in the short term? As we have read so far, it’s essential to note that the moment of surrender didn’t save our heroes from further demise. In neither story does God stop the drama from getting worse – Jesus was arrested, beaten and crucified. It would be great if it was true, but surrender isn’t a Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card. If you are in a challenging season, realize that the moment of surrender in your own life is also the moment when God’s plan can take precedence. For an Agnostic like me, many factors are responsible for my terms of surrendering. And for the lucky ones, when God finally takes over, impossible becomes the ignition for incredible! But not before complete surrender. https://decoffeehublounge./category/blog/ |
The ‘male slapping championships’, an eye-watering new sport originating in Siberia, Russia, which sees men open-palm striking each other into submission, has proved a huge hit online – and has to be seen to be believed. The brutal championships were held at the Siberian Power Show 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, and required each competitor to simply slap their opponent standing on the other side of the table into submission. Surprisingly, it featured no shortage of slap-happy sluggers eager to test their strength on each other’s cheeks. The bizarre annual contest was eventually won by bearded hulk Vasily Kamotskiy, a 370-pound local weightlifter who had delivered a series of knockout blows to his opponents on the way to winning the coveted title. A video of Kamotskiy’s exploits, along with some of the best hits and knockouts from the event, has since gone viral online, shocking viewers who responded in either fits of laughter or just paling shock from countries as far as Nigeria, Denmark, the Netherlands, India, and the US. Social media users begged for the sport to be included int he Olympics. Other, more political-savvy watchers, commented that such a system would be a welcome alternative to presidential debates. The championships, which promises to be a sports platform of interest “from elite athletes to youngsters” was held in the city over March 16-17, charging punters 400 rubles ($6) to feats their eyes on the extreme event, and featured special guests from the world of working out. Its program also saw The World Strongman Cup and Siberian Dance Contest take place and included fringe sports such as armwrestling, freestyle workout and pole dancing. Despite interest on the internet, we’re not sure the brand new craze from Russia will catch on, or simply slap the smile off the face of those wanting to give it a try. https://decoffeehublounge./2019/03/22/hot-dirty-slaps-could-be-a-new-olympic-sport/

Rose Gidado is the Scientific Officer and Assistant Director of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA). She is also the country coordinator of the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) in Africa. She claims GMO technology is very very safe for consumption, and this is coming from someone who’s supposed to be a scientist. I can understand her urgency to promote GMO food technology into the country, but I strongly believe her passion is driven by personal success than the health concerns of the millions of Nigerians who are going to be exposed to the dangers of DNA mutilation and uncontrolled mitosis generally known as cancer. Ironically, GMO food is banned in many countries in Europe, Russia, and some counties/States in the USA. Recently, a US jury found Monsanto’s Roundup was a ‘substantial factor’ in causing man’s cancer. The motion follows a San Francisco court’s ruling that Roundup was a “substantial factor” in 70-year-old Edwin Hardeman’s non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which he developed after using the herbicide on his Sonoma property for decades. The verdict was the second such unfavorable ruling for Germany’s Bayer, which was fortunate enough to acquire Monsanto just last year. With legal responsibility no longer falling on Americans’ shoulders, a California court awarded plaintiff Dewayne Johnson $289 million last August, ruling the popular herbicide also caused his non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The payout was later reduced to $78 million, but it opened the floodgates for upwards of 9,300 similar lawsuits against Bayer. This is the same technology Rose Gidado claims to be very very safe in her words. The World Health Organization found in an 11-country 2015 study that glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic to humans,” while California added the substance to its list of chemicals “known to cause cancer” in 2017. Bayer maintains that the product they acquired with the Monsanto brand is safe. Bayer shares plunged more than 12 percent after a second US jury ruled that glyphosate-based Roundup weed killer causes cancer. It was a huge blow to the German pharmaceutical giant which bought US agrochemical firm Monsanto. The stock drop during Wednesday morning trading on the Frankfurt exchange wiped out almost $8 billion from Bayer’s market value. Bayer, which specializes in producing pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare products, agricultural chemicals and biotechnology products, inherited the legal battles with its $63 billion acquisition of Monsanto, the US’ leading producer of genetically engineered crops. Bayer may potentially face thousands of similar lawsuits in the US alone. However, the German company has denied claims that glyphosate or Roundup causes cancer and said it was disappointed with the jury’s decision. “We are confident the evidence in phase two will show that Monsanto’s conduct has been appropriate and the company should not be liable for Mr. Hardeman’s cancer,” Bayer said in a statement. This current US Jury ruling against Bayer should rightfully reignite the GMO conversation here in Nigeria on a higher level, perhaps a Senate screening or a non corrupt government probe into the safety of GMO Food technology in Nigeria. https://decoffeehublounge./category/blog/ |
I am pro science, not pro Econoscience, that is, the art of using money despite the terrible health risk as a motive for scientific research and breakthrough. Why the Nigerian government will begin the process of allowing Genetically Modified Foods into our ecosystem still baffles me. Personally I think its a wrong move at this time. And I will explain why. Starting with the head of the snake, the major bioagricultural giant, Monsanto has a bad rep in India, US, Europe and the international community. The reason is simple, their products, the GMO seeds and weed killers are harmful to human DNA. It curses cancer. Question: Why is it allowed to be in the shelves of supermarkets despite the various court rulings confirming that they are dangerous? I can only imagine its the same reason why aviation and other agencies like insurance are allowed to regulate themselves and lobby (bribe) their products into the market. This is bad science. Science is the study of living things not the act of killing living beings. You just have to do a quick search on the internet on Monsanto. Just do a quick search of their roundup weed killer and see for yourself. Raising cancer risk by 41% is not child’s play. This is dirty business in play. Monsanto is a very smart company, in other to save their products and maintain their market share, they merged with Bayer for $66b. Now Bayer is a brand many people grew up with in terms of quality care products. Their smartness has turned to a liability for Bayer in this new ruling against Bayer where a US court confirmed that indeed the Roundup weed killer causes cancer in humans, this caused a crash in their market share with shareholders apprehensive about the current development. On a national level, the acceptance of GMO products into the country despite the unproven fitness for human consumption and the well known fact that the country is not scientifically ready to contain any sort of biohazard or cancer related or DNA bombardment on any level. Common polio that’s thought to be eradicated still rears its ugly head time to time. Lassa and Ebola are still on a look out phase. Do we have enough cancer research centers to battle the consequences? Do we have the adequate health facilities to accommodate the new health related events that’s sure to begin when the GMO products are introduced into our ecosystem? Remember, this is a country where the President spent many months in a foreign hospital, despite having access to the Aso Rock hospital whose medical needs are included in the country’s budget. The excuse the national agency gave was that there is a need for the technology due to the difficulties in cultivating crops like cowpea with its pest issues that reduces quality and yield. Europe has been rejecting beans exports from Nigeria due to health safety concerns on the use of toxic chemical agents to preserve the beans much longer than they should. This same European market is turning their backs to GMO with countries banning and prohibiting the product in their commercial or trial phase. So why is the Nigerian government going against the common sense trend and allowing this health risk into the county fully aware that it’s not an economically viable crop, and if it’s for public consumption, then why allow us eat DNA time bombs in the name of self sufficiency. Having a food surplus by any means necessary, healthy or not seems to be the aim of this government, food surplus equals to political campaign tool. Nigerian journalists, activist, doctors, health workers, farmers and concerned citizens must continuously speak against this health risk by educating their followers on the dangers of been ignorant and consuming those things with fancy names and really beautiful packaging in the supermarkets. Always look for the organic or GMO label at the very least before buying any edible foreign product in the supermarkets. See it like shopping for clothes, you always look at the label in other not to get the wrong product, in this case, its not Gucci rice but the packaging is quite Gucci if you know what I mean. Our population in Nigeria is not rich enough to seek cancer treatment, many people are too poor too even go for cancer diagnosis! The citizens who will be exposed to this are not the rich, those people are smart, they eat healthy food and they are exposed enough to know the dangers and avoid GMO foods, the middle class and the poor are the target. In this country, middle class doesn’t mean you can afford quality health care. https://decoffeehublounge./category/blog/ |

Its so easy to find someone you wanna Bleep, but its not so easy to find someone you wanna spend a boring Tuesday night with I think the worst part of life is this whole short term long term thing, you do something because it feels better so much better in the short term and the next thing you know, you’ve made the long term so much harder and then the short term comes around again because Jesus we live in the short term not the long term and you just say to yourself, why not? I’ll just have that drink, or that kiss. Who was it that said in the long term we’re all dead? Oprah? Keynes? See this beer in my hand, have at it, I know you want one and I’m in no position to pass judgement, the human race is so bleeped with the biochemistry of emotions. I met a girl recently, she’s so out of my league. she beautiful, she’s religious, she’s partnered to somebody prominent in town. One day our hands touched, and I kissed her, I can still taste that kiss. She told me right upfront the best i could get was an affair, so loving her and watching her go home to another man… I wanted to die, and when you’ve got a heart condition and a hypertension, you can just pull your own plug at any time. I told myself her partner must be really special that I didn’t stand a chance, and then I heard something he did that made me realize he’s no better than I am. You know what the problem was? She’s afraid of love. You cant be afraid of love. I regret those years when I attempted to drink and smoke myself to an early grave. I should have gone out there, found a woman that makes my heart pound with joy, with lust. Don’t marry someone who doesn’t obviously love you. And ask yourself this, do you really love her? When next a beautiful person walks by, shoot your shot immediately, make mistakes, be yourself, stutter if you have to but ensure you shoot your shot because a glass half empty is better than spit. https://decoffeehublounge./category/blog/ |
Nigerians will generally agree to this: Our politicians are corrupt and the majority of the pillars of government are rotten with acute corruption. Ex president Jonathan was said to be clueless while the current president Buhari is said to be nepotistic. These are fundamental problems Nigerians deal with daily and the economy is affected badly due to these negative traits. Nigerians don’t need politicians anymore, we need AI, Artificial Intelligence rather than human politicians with their greed and lust for power. With AI in power, the problem of equity can be solved logically, the mad gap between the haves and have nots will be blurry, the issue of budget padding and delays will be a thing of the past. I’m pretty sure the AIs will negotiate the final disbursement of the famous Abacha loot and also bring to an end the era of government waste. I’m pretty sure Nigeria will be better off with the humongous amount of money that will be saved when the government will eventually be trimmed to efficient figures thereby increasing the GDP. With AI in government, the fat Senate and the green chamber house of reps will be obsolete. I’m very sure the AI will create a better form of government compared to the style we currently have. AIs might not favor a regional form of government and the 2014 Nigerian conference report will be deleted off the server. AIs are masters of centralized institutions. The idea of elections and it’s death toll will be a memory. Preferential employment of the children of those in government will be over and everyone will play by the rules with no favorism and godfatherism. Political heavyweights like Obasanjo, Tambuwal, Tinubu, Saraki, Ameachi and other godfathers will hate the AI government and may end up been dangerous opposition with their ability to channel their resources to elite hacking groups to ensure they remain relevant in the grand scheme of things. They will fail of cos but they will try nonetheless. The problem with Nigeria is not the economy, it’s our politicians and their dirty stinking disgusting method of politics. A friend once told me, Nigeria’s only natural disaster is politicians and not the backhand of God aka Hurricane, Cyclones, Earthquake etc I’m pretty sure there are loads of reasons why you think AI government are better than the human government we have, kindly share your opinions in the comment section. https://decoffeehublounge./category/blog/ |
According to the restaurant director, a Nigerian who introduced himself as Mr. Niyi Adegbite, he claims “all over the world, Chinese restaurants are not open to every Tom, Dick and Harry.” However as someone who has spent time in Asia before, this claim is false. Chinese restaurant admits everyone from Americans to Europeans and to Africans. Many Nigerians in Malaysia can attest to this, Malaysia is a diverse nation with Chinese, Indians and local Malays. However, Chinese restaurants serves Nigerians without been racist about entrance or service rules. He did claim, the restaurant director, Mr Niyi Adegbite, that the Shi Shi Chinese Restaurant was open to the public. When asked if Nigerians were allowed to patronise Shi Shi, Adegbite said, “Not really.” Classic racial doublespeak. The restaurant doesn’t look like a posh place to start with, it’s a bit on the average, bland with less elegance and the natural Chinese aura is almost forced compared to the bigger brand Chinese restaurants like Mr Chang in the highbrow area of Awolowo road, Ikoyi. Mr Chang is a class of it’s own and yet it’s not racist to their host Nigerians. According to Nigerians who visits the restaurant said they were told ” The restaurant is exclusive meant for Chinese native living in Nigeria and is not open to “unaccompanied Black customers”. Otite Date and other Lagos residents has accused a Chinese restaurant of racism against Nigerians. It’s pretty clear that the restaurant has been denying service to Nigerians who ain’t accompanied by Chinese or Asian looking national. Personally, I can imagine the annoyance many Nigerians feel towards this because the cleaning staff and workers are Nigerian. This begs the question, what’s the point opening a restaurant in another continent and deny your services to your host country, this is absurd. Chairman Mao will not be pleased with this red menace in Ikeja and this is a given! |
