helovesme: Danzak
How's your baby? any improvement? I hope he's much better. God will perfect his healing in Jesus name. Amen.
I hope you applied the temporal ban to pap too. That might also be the problem. if there's something wrong with the pap, his immune system might be struggling with it now even though he took it well previously.
Check my previous posts and that of alphahandmaiden (she also created a blog) for cheap, healthy, nutrient filled, home made meals that actually aid in brain development that you can feed your baby. Helovesme, he is OK now. In fact, I had to suspend all the foods I was given him then. As soon as I did that the whole thing stopped. I then came to the conclusion that millet doesn't sit well with his system because that was the only new thing I added to the Guinea corn pap. Right now, I am only giving him Nutribon multi grain & NAN1 and he loves it. He has even started adding weight again. Thanks a lot for the show of love. E-hugs |

Onegai: ginababy, 1. what is his exact highest temperature? 2. if his blood work is negative (malaria parasite says zero instead of plus, white blood cell count is normal), why are they prescribing anti-malarial? Ask for full test result. 3. Paracetamol is fine, no need to discard. Ask them why they said it.
Danzak, what are his highest temps, where is the full breakdown of his blood work? collect the one the lab gave the Dr. Get a referral (Dr should write what he is treating your kid but and what meds). I think it is a stomach virus but there should be something the drs are seeing. Is he in pain, have you done a light, upper abdomen massage? I only have a few hours here and I'm off again so try and reply as soon as you can. Onegai, sorry ma for the late response . I have been offline for a while due to a lot pressure. However, thanks a lot for your concern. And yes it was a stomach virus but thank God he is very well now. |

[quote author=helovesme post=53140853]Okay.
Since hygiene is top notch and you've been to different hospitals then it's time for some root cause analysis. I can only think of his diet/food.
I think you should stop the pap totally for now and also stop the current cereal he eating and try another brand. That might be the problem.
Yea, I kind of agree with you on that because the last doc we saw said the same thing, in fact, he was sure is from the process of his food preparation to the feeding. But, the thing is that I am a working mum, and I cannot be 100% sure of what happens when I am at work, even after strict instructions to the nanny. However, he has been taking the pap with NAN1 for like 2 wks before the stooling. The only new thing I introduced was switching from NAN1 to NAN2. I stopped the NAN2 yesterday to see if that is what he is reacting to. Thanks a lot ma, for you prompt responses and follow up. |
Health › Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by DANZAK(f): 9:54am On Jan 26, 2017 |
helovesme: Take him to another hospital ASAP and request to see a pediatrician.
That said, is he bottle fed or breast fed or both? Has he started solids? The problem might be with his drinking water/water used in preparing his meals. Switch to nestle water at least till he fully recovers (make sure you boil it) and ensure all his feeding utensils are properly washed and sterilised after each use.
Teething is not responsible for stooling (over 7 days). There is an underlying condition that should be treated.
In future you can try home made "sugar and salt" solution. Based on my experience (I tried this when my son was 8months old), this method is most effective if the cause of the stooling is down to diet (for example, child has had too much fruits and veg) and it should be used on the very first day (say by the 4th stool).
Boil about 50ml of water. Leave to cool (till it's about lukewarm). Add one tea spoon of salt and one and a half tea spoon of sugar. Mix together and taste it (it shouldn't be too salty or too sweet). Pour the mixture in a feeding bottle and give the child to drink. Get the child to drink at least 10-20ml and you can give the child little sips to drink later in the day.
If after giving the child this solution and the child stools again, please go to the hospital. Stooling in children should never be taken lightly. I won't even wait till the next day as my threshold is 5 poos. Luckily, the salt and sugar mix has always worked for me after the 4th poo. He only takes pap (homemade) and cereal for now. I use boiled Aquadana or Eva bottle water to prepare his meals. Hygiene is top notch. Took him to the hospital the second day and when the thing continued, we had to take him to a different hospital on Monday this wk. But the poo is still watery and greenish. Though not as frequent as before. I guess the sugar&salt solution you mentioned is kind of local ORS. He has been on ORS since the issue started. |

harbeordune: @Danzak, guess ur baby is teething gradually, Try get PICCAN (Original) for teething symptoms. But if diarrhea persists, ORS is very important to replace lost electrolytes. Get well soon baby luv . Thank u ma, the teeth has not come out o, even though that was what the docs suspected at first but till now no show. |

Liftedhands: Mix raw Pap about a table spoon and give him, other cereals like oatmeal and rice also helps to add bulk to poo.
Practice optimum hygiene with him to avoid reinfection.
Keep him hydrated at all times ORS is very important! Should the stooling persists past today and tomorrow without any sign of abating PLS TAKE HIM BACK TO THE HOSPITAL.
Hope you've given him rota? Thank you @ Liftedhands. I will try your method. Though someone said I should add a little palm oil to his pap without formula and give him for like 2 days. Have you heard of that method before? As for the Rota, we missed the first dose so I didn't bother giving him the rest or can I still do that? |

comtem2011: Mamas, weldone on this cuties. You will surely reap the fruit of your labour over them all.
My baby has been battling with fever and running stool for the past 3 days, but to the Glory of God, he is perfectly fine now.
I noticed he is bringing out teeth and suddenly he developed hot temperature, gave him babyrex syrup to subside it. The temperature will be reduced and rise again. I later noticed that his forehead was hot and eyes bringing tears, I ruled out teething and consult a Dr friend who prescribed antimalarial drug. That was how fever disappeared at first dose o. He will complete his dosage tomorrow morning.
As per the running stool, I blended scent leaf and crayfish, prepared it as soup and he licked it. Mamas, you won't believe that he just pooed his normal poo this morning since that preparation day before yesterday. The boy just dey fire me with heavy fart since.
Help me shout 7 thunderous Halleluyah. It is the Lord's doing o.
May God give us the wisdom in taking care of them all.
Sorry for my long post. Hello comtem2011, pls how old was your son when you used this method on him because mine is having the same symptoms and he is 6months plus |

Godmother: Wise mamas in the house, I would appreciate your input in a matter. My childhood friend called me yesterday with an issue. She and her dh are having accommodation problems and the hubby had to relocate back to his parents house while she moved in with her elder sister whose husband is away. Her sister's hubby is about coming back and her sister has been politely telling her she needs to move.
She told her hubby and he asked her to move in with him; in his parents house. She's against the idea and in a way I support her cos I know how some Nigerians treat daughter-in-laws. She suggested moving in with me temporarily, but I had to tell her my dh won't agree. Now she's down and confused and she has to give her hubby the final reply tomorrow about moving in with her inlaws.
Mamas, how do you all see living with your inlaws? Personally, I don't support it but would love to know what others think.
cc Onegai Alphahandmaiden Zaynie Other sabi mamas This is not a pleasant decision but in all it is the duty of a wife to be with the husband where ever and all the time till death do them part. However, sharing a roof with your inlaws is what every woman dread but I must tell you, it is not always that bad, if the Dil can see and take the in laws as her family most importantly the Mil as her mother and treat her as such. The problem is that most Dil always have this belief that MiLs are all wicked and before the poor woman can even do anything bad to them they (Dil) have already started unleashing venom in self-defense. But the truth is that, if you show someone love the person will in turn reciprocate love. So let her, go there with a heart of love for every member of that family especial her Mil and they will have no choice but to reciprocate same. And before she know it, their financial issue will be sorted out and she and Dh will move to their home. |

suzystores: Happy Sunday beautiful Mummies.I have learnt alot from here.God bless you all.I m a silent follower tho.hope i m welcomed.Pls my baby girl is 4months and 2weeks.she has been rejecting both breast milk n fomular .i tryed forcing her but she do throw up.this morning i tryed giving her pap n she was so happy drinking it.My question is should i start giving her pap at dis stage,is she matured enof to start taking pap or cereals.cos i colleague told me her digestive system is not yet matured at dis stage.if yes what type of cereals can i introduce to her.pls i need your response. I started my Ds with Gerber rice cereal at exactly 4 months(my choice though) while still breast feeding and giving formula. But by late last month he stopped taking the formula but still takes the cereal very well. Mamas here adviced me not bother about that as long as I add his daily required formula to his cereal. My dear, that is what I do now and we are all happy. As for the Bm, you can express and feed with bottle or cup and spoon. Gerber rice and Gerber oatmeal are for 4months and above. FINA4804, plus can you help out with other cereals for 4 months. Thanks |

sugarcanebaby: No I haven't zaynie. Have been to the hospital afterwards and the doc assured me it was OK.
My baby would be three months in January and I'm also to resume back to work. Right now, hubby and I have the option of getting a nanny(live in\or daily) and a creche. I found one close to where I live. My questions are;
1. Which one is better, a nanny a creche?
2. Is my baby too young like some people say?
3. What should I look out for as I would be going back there next week to assess them.
Please don't jump and pass. I need your input as it breaks my heart every time I think of the fact that I'd have to leave him with someone else.
Cc: feddy, iomoge, liftedhands, alphahandmaiden, onegai, helovesme, danzak, tojued etc My dear the first thing to do is to do is to start putting it in prayers, asking God to connect you with someone that good, homely and loves children. 1) I prefer a nanny, reason being that your child will be at the comfort of your home where he is solely being taken care of by someone you 'know'. In creche the attention of the care givers/minders are always divided among other babies. 2) Not really. I started work when mine was 2months 22days(started maternity leave before delivery), but because I have confidence in nanny. He is 5months plus now and doing great. The most important thing is for you to have peace with who and wherever you are living him. 3) I have never done creche but I know mamas here will provide the answers to that. P. S: if you decide to go for nanny, pls get the person to resume work now that you are still at home so that you can assess the person and also teach the person how you want your things done. Good luck dear. #JoyOfMotherhood |

#thingsimissasamum For now I only miss sleep o. Every other thing, I don't count as miss because I have been enjoying them for years, wishing I had a child. DH and I have been all alone for several years, no child(ren),no help, no live-in relations. Just the two of us or either one of us when the other one goes out of town and you can guess who stays at home alone in 99% of such times, yes, I. All alone with my books and tv series. So now, I am still enjoying the full and noisy house. Maybe I will start counting the 'miss' after the third child . But the sleep thing, no be here o. Before aside from the night I find it difficult to sleep any other time but now I can sleep anytime and anywhere as soon as I close my eye due to accumulated sleep waiting to be unleashed. I count it all joy for the honour of being a mum. Happy motherhood! |

Tojued: At the top of the carton or container there's a pix of a baby sitting and they write supported sitter etc there. On the pack they also describe signs your baby may be ready for solid.
Generally you start off a baby with a single grain e.g. rice or oats. Rice is easy to digest and rarely provokes allergies hence its first choice.
You try out single grains individually, before trying out a multi grain (which is a mixture of different single grains). Thanks dear, that was what I did initially. Started with rice but when the thing became scarce, I had to go for the multigrain which was what I saw available but I now know better. Thanks to FINA4804, I now have enough rice and oat to last us till end of January, I no get strength to begin tell stories again o. |

I took time to scrutinize the pack searching for the age requirement for the food and when I didn't see any, I assumed it was for all age range. Only for Feddy to call my attention to it yesterday and FINA4804 took her time to explain to me how to check it. My dear, i don't drop the food sharp sharp and thank God that was the only pack I bought. This thread has really thought me a lot. #greaterdivinewisdom |
