HealthRe: HIV Vaccine Reported To Be Successful In Trials By Canadian University by Dapo4u(m): 4:35pm On Sep 05, 2013
The findings are from a phase I clinical trial. The main objective behind a phase I clinical trial is to ascertain the safety of the vaccine in human population. Then it goes to phase II- an overlap between safety and efficacy of the vaccine in an unbiased and rigorous randomised controlled trial. Then the trial goes to phase III-effectiveness of the vaccine in a real world. Until then zip up.

talktimi: you're right my brother, UNILORIN is by far a better school than most universities in Nigeria. I just laughed when I saw this OAU thingy

FamilyRe: Face With A Divorce Decision And I Need Ur Candid Advice by Dapo4u(m): 8:29am On Nov 16, 2012
At Op, I read through your thesis not because I am your supervisor (that was a joke) but because my brother was in a similar situation. First, you must know that divorce is distasteful but in some cases it could be a blessing. According to one Yoruba adage " Omo buruku dun fe, sugbon ana buruku soro fe", rudely translated thus: marrying a bad girl from a good home could be more desirable than marrying a good girl from a bad home. You wife cannot just wake up one day and calls it quit? she must have informed one or two people? In your case, who? maybe her mum?. if your wife has a father, that would be the best person to talk to urgently, if not then, her mum. Seek their opinion on what your wife said and please at this stage, do not involve your own family. Whatever the outcome of your meeting with her parents will surely assist you in making a rational decision. Like what everybody is saying, painfully as it is, your mum has to get an alternative accommodation. The rest of your worries are immaterial! In the world we live in today, some women want everything (open to discourse anyway, but that is the honest truth). Some women want to be pampered. Some women want their siblings taken care of. Some women seek advice from their mums. If you break ties your wife and you get custody of your children? What next? Are you not going to re-marry? Who says she is going to be different from your ex-wife? Brother, it is the world we live in. If you can meet her demands half-way, and obviously she is ready to compromise on some of her stands, please do, for the sake of your children.

EducationRe: Uk College Caught Selling Fake Degrees To Foreign Students by Dapo4u(m): 5:01pm On Oct 05, 2011
ojubi:
All graduates train abroad are simply unemployable. They just pass by cheating, learn a little bit of accent faking, come here and start posing cos the authorities will not even bother to investigate the source of their degrees cos is from obodo oyibo. RUBISH ABROAD TRAINED gRADUATES. bleep u all of u that stol certificate in UK and US and other places.
You might be right in your assertion but overgeneralised! There are couples of young Nigerians who were trained in top colleges abroad, and when they come back home, most of them perform better than their local trained counterparts. However, this is not to say that the Nigerian-trained graduates are not equally doing fine, but me thinks the ability to competes overall is is being hampered by the limited facilities in all of our Nigerian Universities.
Now, on a lighter mood, I get some friends wey study for MIT, Imperial College, UCT and other top obodo oyibo Universities, my brother! these guys are top notches for MTN, Mobil and co.
PoliticsRe: Picture Nigeria - Then, In 1963 - Now, In 2010 by Dapo4u(m): 5:57pm On Oct 07, 2010
T9ksy:
Don’t u then think it is essential that u ought to find out more about the guy before offering your ill-informed opinion about him on a public forum like this? Afterall, am not a history student either but I took the time and energy to do my research on the extant participants during and after our independence. There’s no point in u admitting knowing next to nothing about TB and at the same time saying u’r not his apologist. Its obvious that u’r ill-equipped for that particular task.

Sir, you read what you want to believe in. To some people, TB was a visionary  leader and a symbol of unity especially in the North, while to others, he was not. I do not belong to either camps-my apology! And I can't see in my entire posts where I tried to misinform the public about TB. I just do not agree with some of your observations.

How can u apply such a reasoning process to a/my post without engaging the aid of a pre-existing knowledgebase? The bone of contention is not exactly affordability but rather/also the moral premise. He cannot educate his constituency but deemed it fit to send his son to England for exclusive PRIMARY school education..

Despite his fluent english, TB was a thief who suddenly was able to send his 10 yr old son to England for completion of
his primary school education. In the meanwhile, in his region the poor were denied free basic education.
I thought the above statement was credited to you?

So why then was he given the post? A typical manifestation of Mediocrity, I presume. Which unfortunately has been the focal point of our conundrum, since independence.
A lot of people will disagree with you.

Awo performed wonders in the western region then. So too, did Zik in his region. At the centre, either one of the two would have done far better than this pro-western, lucidly-spoken grade II teacher who thinks as evident from his 1959 speech , that the brits are the best thing since sliced-bread.
More often than not, university education does not equate to one being a good leader. JEG is a P.hD holder, I don't think he has a clue of what our problems are?
PoliticsRe: Picture Nigeria - Then, In 1963 - Now, In 2010 by Dapo4u(m): 6:17pm On Oct 06, 2010
@T9ksy. Let me begin by saying that I am NOT out here to defend Tafa Balewa. I was not a student of History, I hardly knew who he was except that he was a Nigerian Prime Minister when Nigeria became a sovereignty state. I was only applying logic here when you observed in your earlier post that 'how could he afford to send his son to England immediately he became a Prime Minister?' The bone of contention here is AFFORDABILITY right?

But your last post touched on many issues: affordability, belief, incompetence and corruption
First, could a Nigerian Prime Minister afford to send his son to England for primary education? Yes, as a Nigeria Prime Minister, he could adequately send his son to UK without recourse to state purse. Nigerian presidents have never been poor! Everything is provided for in the Nigerian constitutions (my emphasis).

Second, should he have sent his son to England for Primary Education, when those deemed financially stable than him objected to that venture? Honestly, in the '60s and '70s, with our high standard of educational system, I would object to that also. But does it make corrupt? No, I don't think so. This observation does not make those that chose to bring up their kids in Nigeria to be less corrupt either.

Now, was Tafa Balewa our best candidate for the post of prime minister then? No Sir, there were better candidates in the persons of Azikiwe,Awolowo, Enahoro and co. Would they have been more competent than him?Awolowo and co were NEVER tested at that level, so there can be no basis for comparison.
You said his government was grossly corrupt because some of his ministers were corrupt. You might be right but don't forget that, Dr Tai Solarin, resigned from his appointment as People's Bank Chairman because of proven cases of embezzlement in the organization. If Tai Solarin was absolved of wrongdoings ,maybe Balewa was also a victim here.
PoliticsRe: Picture Nigeria - Then, In 1963 - Now, In 2010 by Dapo4u(m): 4:52am On Oct 05, 2010
@ T9ksy. Unless you can objectively substantiate your argument that a Prime Minister of that time could not afford to send his son to England for primary education, then your observation becomes a mere conjectures. Let me state here that in the '60s, England was a visa-free, all you needed to do is an onward return ticket to Nigeria. If the number citizen then, with all the paraphernalia attached to that office could not afford to send his son to UK for primary education, then the thousands of eminent Nigerians that were trained in the UK in the '60s and '70s could have possibly benefited from that seemingly corrupt Balewa government??
PoliticsRe: Picture Nigeria - Then, In 1963 - Now, In 2010 by Dapo4u(m): 7:06pm On Oct 04, 2010
I am going to disagree with people calling TB names because he sent his son to England. Many a well-to-do family could afford to send their kids to UK in the '60s, why can't the president do the same if he could afford to do so?
My uncle was trained in England so also some notable Nigerian including Prof Soyinka, Gani Fawehinmi, Onosodes and co. And I do also know that the position of a Prime Minister enjoyed certain privileges, his son could have been invited to UK by the then Queen Elizabeth (my emphasis). Why not? In hindsight, Alhaji Alhaji and some of the children of 'Northerners' were brought up in Queen's palace. Whether Balewa was foisted on us is a debate for another forum, but I think he was an epitome of simplicity.

SportsRe: SA 2010 WCQ: Nigeria(3) Vs Kenya(0) On Sunday 7th June by Dapo4u(m): 3:19pm On Jun 08, 2009
This is my opinion:
For players:
Most of our players ply their trade in Europe under tutelage of a good coach in their respective clubs, they come back home to meet another 'good coach' with a strange technical ability. This might not be an excuse for our lackluster performance nevertheless you cant give what you dont have.

Coach:
I have not watched S/Eagles for years now not until Sunday. This is what noticed on Sunday, when Uche scored, Amodu looked up unto the sky and said 'God! thank you for saving my job' Well, maybe with God, we will be in South Africa.

The trio:
Did Mikel play more matches than Anelka in Chelsea? How many matches did Yobo play last season?Yet Anelka was in for France but 'Nija players' as usual. For once, I gave credit to Amodu for dropping those players, no individual is bigger that the team.
Let us support our players and hope for better outings.
Up Super Eagles!

To the poster, I am not going to repeat what have been said but would rather put the record straight.

First and foremost, I am quite impressed for coming out with your status. The first step towards finding a cure to this

pandemics is for all and sundry to get out there and get tested, there are millions of people wandering around without

knowing their status and will the first to cast aspersion.

Be that as it may, to corroborate what have been said, HIV/AIDS does not kill! if managed well.In fact, many a people I

know are actually living fine, having kids, nice family. What actually kills is the fear of the unknown, perpetuated by our

ignorance about HIV itself. Let me remind you here, Micheal Johnson, an American Basket player has been living with

HIV for some years now, this guy is a living testimonies. He is hundred percent (100 %) healthy and human. Continue

with your life as if nothing has happened by following the dos and donts.

I am not sure if you need Anti-retroviral therapy (ART) at this stage unless your viral load is below 200! Research has

shown that people can actually live with the virus for betweeen 10-20 years before they

start to show signs of immuned-compromised diseases, this is a stage where the viral load is actually very low. Talk to

your physician.

Lastly, eat good foods, exercise at least 30 minutes a day (whatever chores you enjoy-dancing/walking/yoga etc), and

respect you body!.

@ pmdaboh and Kokoye, I am quite impressed by your submission.I for one would not welcome a third party on marital in my home, the farther you keep

away from the third parties, the better for your marriage. But in some cases, you may want to confide in someone who has a wealth of experience in marital

issues, who is not necessarily a paid 'marriage counselor'.In fact most religious organizations have capacities to deal with these exigencies.

Nonetheless, I respect you guys opinions.
FamilyRe: Wife Has Financial Upperhand Presently by Dapo4u(m): 7:45pm On Mar 26, 2009
I have tried to read between the lines and I must say I am deeply worried about one thing:everybody claims to be an

expert to every issues.I am going to be decent and civil in my response.

One, you only give out what you have.Do you seek a piece of advice from the one who is not married in an issue that

bothers on marital hitch?certainly not.I wonder how many of these 'marriage counselors' are married?

Both bsala001 and gberedu corroborated the writer's fear with own personal stories but none is paying attention. What

everyone is interested at is typing, typing, and type anything!

To Igalo: communication is the mainstay of a marital bliss.Communicate your fear with your wife,be matured about your

approach, worry less about what people say and perhaps talk to a marriage counselor.

Good luck.

He is one of the cutest and best actors around.Lately, many have been eager to have a glimpse of what his family look like because our friend, Ramsey, has been able to keep his private business away from the prying eyes of the public. Many hear-says ,conjectures, and accusations have trailed that very fabric of his secrecy like-'his wife is ugly','he has divorced his wife' and many fair-tale stories.Well 'Nairalanders' here is a recent picture of Ramsey Olatokunbo Nouah and his family.

When are we to get it right?I did watch the first match against Egypt, I can only tell you that the performance was shambolic except some flicker of individual performance. Not until when we start to reward brilliance and do away with a 'mere politicking', we will continue to wallow in this mess.

Tell your friend, whatever she does, she has to do it with clean heart and hold her duty to God.She does not have to relocate to Nigeria if she doesn't have the means.Immediate solution will be to visit Nigeria very soon even if YOU AND OTHER PALS will have to borrow her the money for the journey. As some have equally advised, let her go home and discuss issues with her husband, God will assist her in this regard.
N.B.
Her papers must be ok and her INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT must be safe -guarded at all times (experience), her husband might try something funny! Then, if it doesn't work out well, posterity will judge her, I pray God help her.

There are two different issues here. This is not about who will be a good leader (governor) between Oshinomole and Osunbor, far from that. The issue is, who won the last gubernatorial election in Edo state? And evidences on ground have shown that Adams Oshinomole won by majority votes, which has been confirmed by both election tribunal and court of Appeal. Whether he Oshinomole will be a better governor is a debate for another forum. And to those who are equating education to good leadership, what point are you driving home? Are you saying if I do not have a university degree, I could not perform better than someone who claims to have conducted a freer and fairer election to the one that brought in FIRST BLACK US PRESIDENT?. I can only wish Adams and his team all he best.

Be that as it may, the prophet Allah (s.a.w) strongly advise us to respect the people in the position of authority ,not fasting today in Nigeria as a Muslim, you may be disobeying the people we put in a position of authority. But verily they shall be held accountable in the hereafter, Allah knows best. We are starting here tomorrow Insah Allah and may Allah accept it from us as an act of Ibadah. Ramadan Kareem!!

He started competing when he was 15-year old, his record is yet to be surpassed at  World Youth Championship!.At Athens 2004, he could not compete because he was injured though barely 17 year old then.Jamaicans and Nigerians are known for sprint race as East Africans are known for long distance.I do not believe the likes of Fasuba and Metu cannot achieve this feat if given necessary supports.Well done to Usain Bolt, at 20 meters to go, he relaxed his arms, slapped his chest and started celebrating and the guy still broke the record! What a man!
