^--- There is a large amount of cannibalism in SE Nigeria, the authorities should look into it ![]() |
^-- Fash? Naw, he has charisma, and a lot of it. In fact, if you aren't carefully paying attention, you'll think the SR guys are just trying to bring him down, rather than raising legitimate concerns. |
Look, English did not originate in Africa, yes. But that is no reason not to choose it as the lingua franca. Heck, tomatoes didn't originate in Africa (they are indigenous to South America), but they are one of my favorite things to eat. It is pretty silly to reject a perfectly fine tool (the English language) for sentimental reasons, I think. We've got bigger fish to fry. |
English is fine as the African lingua franca, no reason for either Hausa or Swahili, imo |
Leave the editorializing to the pros, Aloy-Emeka. |
Might not be the right place to ask, but do kids usually buy these books, or does the school provide them? How exactly does this aspect of the educational system work. . .? |
^--- Think you are overreacting. It is still a nice science fairish sort of project, but shouldn't have been hyped that much by the newspaper. |
It requires electricity sef to run. I must admit I've forgotten a lot of my physics, but crudely speaking I think this is just electricity -> magnetic field -> electricity again. |
;d |
Didn't quite figure it out, but now I see the audio version I'm using to uses very different words than "aya Uriah" (which is what I found here: http://www.africanportal.net/ABO/BibeliAtoka/MATTEU.pdf). They use some other, much longer expression. Searching now if I can find some text to read that matches the audio. . . |
Ileke-IdI:But in this case, how is it conveyed that she wasn't Uriah's wife when she gave birth to Dafidi? Is aya the term for "wife" alone, or for sort of "ex-wife"? |
I'm trying to read the Bible in Yoruba, understand some of the expressions. Matthew 1:6 in Yoruba goes says: Jesse bi Dafidi Oba. Dafida Oba si bi Solomoni lati odo aya Uria. And here is the English of the same verse: and Jesse the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife,So what does "aya" mean in this case? I guess "aya Uria" in this case means "woman was once Uriah's wife", but I'm just trying to get a better sense of what this word means, how it might be used in other situations, etc. |
Good work by SR. I like Fashola, and while his answers sound pleasant, he mostly avoided the issues raised. |
Extreme feminism can kill a relationship. You know, the "men=evil, down with the patriarchy" sort of feminism you see among some white women. Fortunately, you don't really see extreme feminism among black women. They understand that knowing how to cook, clean, make house, take care of your man are still valuable skills. Problem I have with extreme feminism that it wants to ERASE the difference between men and women. Men and women are equal, but different. Extreme feminists want to grind away these very real differences and pretend they don't exist. This can cause a lot of problems. . . |
Hrm. I think a village bride. City bride sounds like she'll be expensive, not want to work hard, and probably be sleeping with houseboy/housegirl/neighbors. Also, for me I think I'l like to settle one day in somewhere relatively rural like Ekiti State. So not really interested in people who cannot do without living in Lagos or some big city. |
mikeansy:Why do you guys keep saying this? Electric cars SUCK. The technology isn't there yet to build batteries that have large enough capacity for the size constraints. Seriously, go price a car that is offered in both a hybrid version and a gasoline version. The financials of the gas will always be better, and this is even with gov't subsidies that are available. Whether we like it or not, oil will be necessary for the indefinite future. |
adedayoone:Was me who said this. I should have been more specific about what I meant, or better yet not said at all. In any case, I apologize again for any offense caused. |
My boy chris bosh is back ![]() |
^-- I live in California, but grew up in the east coast and south. |
Not a smooth move, Ribadu. Even if you think he is unelectable, you do not say something like that. Would be like a white politician saying the same about a black one. Or a male politician saying something about a woman. You just don't do it ![]() |
hard to feel sorry for mumus like that |
alj harem:Basically, you dump vegetable oil or animal fat into a conversion system and produce diesel. Nice thing about it is that you can then generate diesel from say soybeans, so if your country doesn't have much oil in it but instead has lots of rich farmland, you can still supplement your fuel supply. You can also generate biodiesel from waste products, like say chicken/goat/cow fat, used cooking oil, etc. This is more of a small-scale sort of thing though, say if you have a big farm, you can use the fat from slaughtered animals to generate your own diesel. At least, this is my understanding of things from what I've read online. Here are a couple articles from Wikipedia: http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biodiesel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biodiesel |
I understand that they might be hoish, but there are some lines imo you do not cross. The women of your friends/teammates should be off-limits, I think. |
jason12345:I don't mind this. But you won't generate enough energy just from organic waste. To generate large amounts, you have to devote large amounts of land to growing an input crop for the biofuel; used cooking oil or whatever is not enough. And if it is at the small "used cooking oil" level, then it isn't really going to make an impact on the energy supply, so isn't worth hyping. |
Where all these haters at who said Genevieve's beauty was done? She is still a 10 ![]() The movie looks pretty nice though. |
