https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDitXud_EwM?si=V8yPCLJWQ-ST5Ksa Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo State, alleges that his successor, Godwin Obaseki, and his wife, Betsy Obaseki, are childless. The Edo North Senator made the revelation in a video uploaded to Television Continental’s (TVC) X account on SundaySunday which was obtained by News360 Nigeria . He claimed to be replying to Betsy’s remarks, in which she said that Monday Okpebholo, the All-Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the state, does not have a wife. In the video, Oshiomhole said that the governor and his wife refused to adopt a child because they do not like children. “I was shocked yesterday to see Mrs. Obaseki, the first lady, saying that our candidate has no wife. She is the most, I’m sorry that she has to say that, because here is a woman who has no child. Between him and Obaseki, they have no child, they are childless,” he said. “They are even not ready to adopt. I mean, I don’t blame, anybody should not have a child. But people who have love for children, they go to motherless home and adopt children. “They have not adopted, they are both in their 60s. So, you married, I don’t know whether it’s a contract or whatever it is, but they have no child.” https://news360ng.com/the-controversial-childlessness-statement-oshiomhole-made-against-obaseki-wife-watch-video/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llkoO8ur3y8 The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA has taken decisive action in Calabar, shutting down three petrol stations for overcharging customers and using faulty meters to dispense fuel. The crackdown is part of a broader effort by the NMDPRA to ensure that consumers are not exploited and that fuel distribution remains fair and transparent across the state. The crackdown targeted several stations in the state capital, Calabar, as the NMDPRA’s South-South Regional Coordinator, Comfort Ajayi, delivered a strong warning to marketers, stating that any station found cheating the public will face severe penalties. Ajayi also addressed the widespread issue of fuel hoarding and illegal sales in jerrycans, which she identified as a major cause of artificial scarcity and cross-border smuggling. She assured residents that the NMDPRA is taking steps to clean up the sector, and protect consumers. In the meantime, truck drivers have voiced their frustrations over long wait time to load fuel at depots despite assurances from depot managers that operations are running smoothly and fuel is being dispensed without hoarding. The NMDPRA’s crackdown is part of a broader initiative to sanitize the downstream sector, and restore consumer confidence in the availability and pricing of petroleum products, in Cross River State and beyond. https://news360ng.com/okono-nsa-filling-station-caught-selling-air-to-nigerians-amid-high-fuel-price/

Previous thread: https://www.nairaland.com/8190319/nlc-convenes-emergency-nec-meeting The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has directed its affiliates members and indeed all workers in the country to immediately shutdown the economy if the Nigerian Police arrest the Congress President, Comrade Joe Ajaero. News360 Nigeria had reported that the Police had last night invited the NLC President to its headquarters for questioning over the allegation of involvement in terrorism financing among others The development led to the convocation of emergency National Executive Council, NEC, meeting at the Labour House where the Congress resolved to write to the Police for extension of time to enable it consult with its lawyers. Briefing the workers, who had assembled at the Labour House in solidarity with the Congress President and to follow him to the Police headquarters, the NLC Deputy President, Kabiru Ado Sani, said that the invitation to Ajaero was invitation to workers. According to him, “At the end of the meeting, we reached some certain resolutions. Part of the resolutions is that, as a committed labour center that we agreed or that we abide by the rule of law and due process. “We will honor the invitation of the Nigerian police, because we are not faseless organization, but we believe that we need an extension of time, after consultation with our lawyers, because this invitation was extended to the Congress President yesterday and asked to report at the police by 10am today. “So we are already working with our lawyers to look for extension of time, but this does not legitimize the charges by the Nigerian police to the Congress leadership, and secondly, we resolve that in an event our Congress President was arrested or detained at any moment, we put our affiliate on red alert to mobilize our membership across the country, that all workers in this country should down tool their services. “This is the resolution because Comrades, this organization belongs to all of us, therefore we should do everything possible to safeguard the safety of this organization. We therefore, thank you very much, and you shoulwait for further directives by our leadership. “Whatever happens, we will communicate your leadership, and your leadership will communicate you. So we urge you to remain calm and go back peacefully to our working place and await further directives.” https://news360ng.com/breaking-nlc-orders-immediate-shutdown-of-economy-if-ajaero-is-arrested/

The Nigerian Police Force has summoned the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, for investigation over allegations of terrorism financing, treasonable felony, cybercrime and other related offences. Signed by ACP Adamu Muazu on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team, the invitation letter dated 19th August 2024, warned that a warrant of arrest would be issued if Ajaero fails to comply. The letter reads: “This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion, and Cybercrime in which you have been implicated. “You are therefore required to report to the undersigned for an interview on Tuesday, 20th August 2024, at 10:00 hrs prompt, at Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, through the Team Leader on telephone no 08035179870, in connection with the above investigation. “Be informed that if you fail to honour this letter, this office will have no choice but to issue a warrant for your arrest.” Confirming the invitation in a statement, the NLC Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Benson Upah, linked the invitation to the recent raid of the headquarters of the union. Upah said a personal message sent to Ajaero by SP Moshood said, “We were at the Labour House to submit this (letter of invitation) but the place was locked, sir”. According to him, the union finds the message curious because staff were in the office beyond 6 pm. “We also note that Comrade Joe Ajaero was not addressed by his official title of President of the Nigeria Labour Congress. “Clearly, the last has not been heard about the raid on the headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress. “Preceding the raid, Congress had advised the government to dialogue with the organisers of the protest even as Congress had cl early stated it was not part of the protest. “Congress criticised the police for the high casualty rate during the protest. “Congress in its NEC communique after the raid expressed outrage at the behaviour of the police and demanded an apology from both the police and government. “At its world press conference last Thursday, Congress had raised an alarm that should anything happen. to the leadership of the Congress or any of its members, the police should be held accountable. “The question on the lips of those in the know is, who wants Joe Ajaero out of circulation.” Raid On NLC Headquarters News360 Nigeria reports that this is coming more than a week after the NLC headquarters in Abuja was raided by security operatives. Following the raid, the police said that the operation was in search of some incriminating documents to establish a case against an international “subversive” element that is a threat to Nigeria’s democracy. Force spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi, who appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on August 12, 2024, said the raided NLC Complex had a suspect housed by the labour union in one of its floors. However, the NLC leadership faulted the explanations given by the Nigeria Police Force on the reason its personnel ransacked the NLC national headquarters in Abuja, calling for an unreserved apology from the police. Addressing journalists at the NLC Secretariat in Abuja last Thursday, the Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Benson Upah, described the police allegations of tracing a suspected international criminal to the building as laughable. The NLC also challenged the police to come up with proof of any relationship with the alleged criminal. https://news360ng.com/breaking-police-summon-nlc-president-ajaero-over-alleged-terrorism-financing-cybercrime/

With the controversial seizure of three presidential jets on routine maintenance in Paris still raising dust, former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun has cautioned the Federal Government not to negotiate with Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited. In a statement on Saturday, the Ogun governor between May 2011 and May 2019, labelled the Chinese firm as an “impostor” and warned the Federal Government not to be scammed, News360 Nigeria gathered A French court recently ruled in favour of the firm and granted the seizure of presidential jets belonging to the Nigerian government. In the dispute involving an arbitration award, the court in Paris ruled in favour of the Chinese firm, allowing it to seize three presidential jets on routine maintenance in France as “security” for claims in a decades-long judicial matter between the foreign company and the Ogun State government. But the Presidency alleged that the Chinese firm is trying “to take over offshore assets of the Federal Government of Nigeria through subterfuge”. The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, later said diplomatic and legal efforts were on to settle the matter amicably. Amosun said in 2011, two different sets of Chinese companies, Messrs China Africa Investment FXE and Zhongfu International Investment FXE laid claims to Management rights over the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ). “The business dispute and rivalry between the Chinese concerns soon became fierce, grounded seamless business activities and threatened public peace and safety within the Zone and neighbouring communities. “There were claims and counterclaims as to who between the two was the lawful representative of the original joint venturer, Guangdong Province, China and consequentially who had the right to manage the Zone. “Based on the information at the disposal of the government at the time, Zhongfu International Investment FXE was on 15/03/2012 appointed as Interim Zone Manager pending further evaluation. “It was later discovered that the information and claims volunteered by Zhongfu International Investment FXE against China Africa Investment FXE were tissues of lies. “Unknown to the Ogun Government at the time, Zhongfu International Investment FXE merely sought to de-market China Africa Investment FXE and to surreptitiously covert the State-owned assets of Guangdong Province in China together with the Zone ownership and management rights of their business rival. “The Government of the Peoples Republic of China, via its Diplomatic Note 1601 dated 11th March 2016 clarified to Ogun State Government, that China Africa Investment FXE was the rightful investor. After due consultation with the relevant organs of Government, we gave effect to the request of the Chinese Government. “We do recall, that Zhongfu International Investment FXE approached Nigerian courts in different jurisdictions to ventilate its legal and business rights. They lost all their four cases in court,” Amosun said. “It is also not true that our administration sent police or any security agent to harass, intimidate, or beat anyone. If there was any such situation, it must have been from among the disputing rivals in the bid to outdo one another. Security agencies can further investigate the allegation and uphold the truth. “Nigeria should not give Zhongfu International Investment FXE any listening ear as doing so would amount to indulging and, encouraging an unlawful entity without locus standi to appropriate our common patrimony. “Stemming from the above, this matter of Zhongfu International Investment FXE should be treated the way Nigeria treated the P&ID case. There is no basis for negotiation. “I am ready to work with the agencies of government in any capacity to ensure that Nigeria is not scammed by Zhongfu International Investment FXE or any other entity. “Like every Nigerian, we are concerned that a purely business dispute between two Chinese nationals and corporations has now degenerated into an unlawful attempt to appropriate Nigeria’s sovereign assets. “This is unacceptable to all people of goodwill and must not be allowed to stand,” he said. https://news360ng.com/chinese-firm-cant-scam-nigeria-say-ex-gov-amosun-on-seizure-of-presidential-jets/
