- There was crisis in Ekiti as aggrieved members of ASUU disrupted the meeting hosted by the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti - Crisis broke out when aggrieved members demanded that the local chapter chairman step aside before commencing the proceeding

- The meeting was aborted when aggrieved members stormed the venue and chased away those who wanted to hold the meeting Aggrieved members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) disrupted the meeting hosted by the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, chasing zonal officers in different directions, Daily Independent reports. Legit.ng gathered that crisis broke out when aggrieved members demanded that the local chapter chairman, Dr Adeniyi Omonijo, step aside before the commencement of the meeting. However the zonal chairman, Akure Zone, Prof Olu Olu, was not willing to yield to the demand. The meeting which was billed for 1pm was aborted when irate members stormed the venue and chased away those who wanted to hold the meeting.

A leader of the union and Dean of Faculty of Arts of the university, Dr. Opoola Bolanle Tajudeen, reacting to the development, said: “There was to be a congress but there was no congress because our members felt strongly that Prof Olu Olu, who has been part of our problem in this chapter should not now come to foist any congress on us and they insisted that he cannot hold any congress when the chairman of our chapter that he is imposing on us has committed impeachment offences. “There has been a resolution on ground that the chairman has committed impeachable offences and should go. “Our people really felt bad and demonstrated their grievances. They spoke their mind. However there was no casualty. “The demands of our members who insist they are still part of ASUU is that current chairman of our branch Omonijo should step down because he has committed impeachable offences. “Our people cannot allow a system where some people from outside would cone and lord over us. We have our own internal problem and we should be allowed to solve it internally. Our people want ASUU to move on but we don’t want Omonijo again."

In a previous report by , there seems to be no end in sight to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) as the lecturers have rejected the offers made to them early this week by the federal government.

The minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige, had earlier stated on Tuesday, January 8, at a meeting with the leadership of ASUU that the labour dispute with the university teachers was on the verge of being resolved. He listed the fresh concessions made by the federal government to ASUU.

Politics / 'APC Promised Change But Brought Pains' - Ex Minister, Abba Moro by Dapromzy333(m): 5:26pm On Jan 16, 2019
Former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro on Tuesday criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress, saying that the party promised Nigerians change but ended up bringing pains and hardship to the people.

Moro stated this during the inauguration of his ward-to-ward campaign in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state. He urged the people to vote for all the candidates of the PDP in the 2019 elections. “The All Progressives Congress promised Nigerians change but ended up  in  bringing pain and hardship to Nigerians,” he said.

The former Minister of Interior challenged his opponents to name projects they attracted to Benue South while they were in power. He added, “Many people will come here to seek your votes. They will call us names, they would say unprintable things against my person but we should not hesitate to ask them to name projects they were able to bring to our community while they were in power.

“We have a candidate who was a deputy governor for eight years. We have a candidate who was a Permanent Secretary for years. Kindly tell them to name people they empowered or projects they were able to put up in our land. I was doing well as lecturer before I ventured into politics, not because I was poor but because I needed to help my people back home.”

The former chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Area said he was able to create employment opportunities for people from Benue South as Minister of Interior under the last administration. “Some of you can attest to the fact that I helped many of our sons and daughters, especially the youth while serving as a minister.  “If you go to Civil Defence, Fire Service, Immigration and Prisons, you will see our people there. I was able to fix them there as a minister.

“In 2015, people voted for change and today we have seen the outcome of the so-called change. People now live from hand to mouth, no food. There is hunger everywhere in the land. Is this the change you want?  “Send me to Abuja and you shall see the outcome,” Moro said.

Education / See The Outcome Of Buhari’s Meeting With NANS by Dapromzy333(m): 9:04pm On Jan 03, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on Labour Unions to allow his administration concentrate on fixing infrastructure in the country rather than distracting it.

Buhari, said this during a meeting with the Executive Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the State House, Abuja.

He urged the students to continue to plead with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, assuring that he will speak with the lecturers’ body “so that they don’t encroach on your efforts to qualify in time.”

The president in a statement by his Special Adviser on Medau and Publicity, Femi Adesina said “In three and a half years, we have improved tremendously on what we met. We are trying to do infrastructure. No matter which part of the country you come from, you will see the efforts we are making in terms of roads; we are trying to fix rails, we are trying to do power, through the use of gas and solar.

“If you note what we have done in these three and a half years, you will not regret voting this administration into power.”

Buhari also stated that Nigeria was doing very well in agriculture “as the country was about to attain food sufficiency and security.”

He said that he had explained in details while presenting the 2019 budget estimates, the earnings and expenditure and therefore expected the elite to understand the position of the government on certain issues, adding that it is the responsibility of the government to look after the employed as well as the unemployed.

He urged the youths to start preparing themselves to lead the country.

“There is a tendency for you to think that you can do better than anybody , but it is very good for you to know the facts that leadership entails,” he said.

Buhari also assured the Labour leaders that, having been in positions of leadership at various stages in life, and with the experience, he means well for Nigerians and indeed, workers, and should be allowed to fix infrastructure so that more Nigerians could be taken out of the poverty cycle.

“I am totally loyal to this country. Whatever I do is in the interest of the ordinary people especially those who do not have the benefit of being educated like you, and are just trusting whoever is leading them,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the students for appreciating some of the things his administration has been able to put in place and called on them to mobilise support for government, as it strives to make Nigeria a better place.

However, In their remarks, the students, led by the president, Comrade Danielson Bamidele Akpan, expressed appreciation of the efforts of the administration, especially in the transformation of the transportation sector as well as the decimation of terrorists in the Northeast.

They, however, requested the government to intervene in the incessant strikes in the education sector; involve more youths in governance; and look into the plight of students in different institutions who have been expelled for ‘political’ reasons.

By SolutionClass

The Academic Staff Union of Universoties ASUU has hinted that it will continue talks with the Feeral Govcernment Next week Monday (January 7th, 2019) over the lingering strike embarked upon by the Lecturers. This was discloised by the National President of the Union Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi yesterday.

He, however, said that the union has not been briefed on the alleged payment of N15.89 billion to universities by the government, two months after it embarked on strike.

According to him, someone actually drew his attention to that newspaper report; adding that he has not received any formal letter from Federal Government, conveying such information.

“The only information I got from the Minister of Labour this afternoon when we spoke was that they have done something concerning our demands; what they have done, I do not know.

“The other thing he told me was that there is going to be a meeting between us (ASUU) and government on Monday.

He mentioned that it isonly when they get to the meeting that they will be able to know what government has done and if it is satisfactory, then it will be conveyed to other members who will now take the next line of action.

Recall that since the commencement of the strike, members of the union had met with the Federal Government six times, to find a way torwards resolving the issues, however, all ended in a deadlock.

Education / Campus Couples And Cohabitation – Good Or Bad? by Dapromzy333(m): 5:11pm On Dec 14, 2018
Yes Campus Couples.

It's quite a common thing to see ladies and guys moving around on campus, often times they go about in twos.

In our departments we know those two who are infamously known to always be together.
The nature of the association may or may not be obvious.

It even extends to cohabitation where the guy and the lady share the same room.

I be spotlighting on
*1. What's your take on campus Couples*
*2. Should ladies and guys cohabit?*
*3. What are benefits and risks if any of cohabitation?*

Let me start by listing the Bad Effect of Cohabitation on Students*

*Poor Results* : This is one of the major dangers of students cohabitation. It is easy to loss focus on their studies, splashing carry overs everywhere and graduating with very poor grade when they finally manage to. Because while others are busy attending classes, doing assignments, writing tests and reading, they would be busy frolicking and playing couple roles at home.

*Increased Financial demands* : The male students in his effort
to be the ideal man and impress his ‘wife’ often takes it upon himself to provide for their upkeep, rent payment, feeding and shopping just like an average husband would. Putting himself into unnecessary financial strain. Stay away from Cohabitation.

*Heart break:* Rarely does campus couple end up as married couple. Because they had enjoyed all the privileges and rights associated with marriage and lost interest in each other before or immediately after graduation, plunging themselves into a devastating heart break, depression, loss of esteem and suicide.

*Risk of Unwanted Pregnancy or STDs* : The increased rate of abortion in Nigeria campuses can rightly be attributed to Student’s cohabitation. This is because neither of the parties is prepared for any parental responsibilities. The risk of contracting a sexual transmitted diseases is equally high. Trust me, Cohabitation isn’t just good! Well there you have it. You can decide for yourself if the practice is really worth the numerous pitfalls before deciding to take part in it. Left to us, nothing beats a focused, undivided attention when it comes to your studies and we hope you will make the right decision. Do you think Campus marriage should be promoted or condemned. Let’s hear you in the comments section.

Advantages / Reasons for cohabitation

# it affords the couple d convenience of more time to assess their relationship

#To save money. Wen they have already established tha the care 4 each other, they see moving together as a way to save money on rent, food, etc

It has increased dramatically over the years.

What's you take on this topic??

“Government accepts decay of colleges of education and has agreed to implement the ‘NEEDS’ assessment report.

Education / ASUU STRIKE: FG Rolls Out ‘no Work No Pay’ Threat by Dapromzy333(m): 8:15am On Dec 03, 2018
ABUJA—THE Federal Government has withdrawn the recent threat to activate the ‘no work no pay policy’ against striking university teachers.

This was disclosed by the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in an exclusive chat with Vanguard yesterday.

Ogunyemi also said that the negotiation meeting between ASUU and the Federal Government would continue tomorrow, stressing that what the union was doing was to rescue the education sector from imminent collapse and to ensure that the children of the poor get access to quality and affordable education.

The ASUU boss also said that last Friday’s meeting between the two parties did not yield much results.

He said: “Well, we have confirmed that they have withdrawn that threat (no work no pay). So it appears the threat is not there for now. But even if the threat is there, we are prepared for that because for our members, no sacrifice is too much to salvage Nigeria’s education.

“Shortly before our action while the NLC (Nigeria Labour Congress) hullabaloo was going on with federal government, they went to the Federal Executive Council that they were activating that rule.”

Meanwile, human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN said yesterday: ”Although the Federal Government referred to “extant rules” to justify the ‘no work, no pay’ policy the directive is anchored on section 43 (1) of the Trade Disputes Act which provides that “any worker who takes part in a strike shall not be entitled to any wages or other remuneration for the period of the strike…”. In resorting to the desperate measure the Federal Government was not properly advised. Otherwise, it would have realized that even under the defunct military junta the application of ‘no work no pay’ rule, threat to eject lectures living in official quarters, promulgation of a decree which made strike in schools a treasonable offence and the proscription of ASUU did not collapse any of the strikes called by ASUU.

”It is submitted that the latest strike embarked upon by ASUU has complied with the provisions of section 31 (6) of the Trade

Disputes (Amendment) Act, 2005. Since the law does not punish acts which are lawful in any democratic society section 43(1) of the Trade Disputes Act cannot be invoked to justify the seizure of the salaries and allowances of members of the ASUU who have decided to participate in an industrial action that is legal in every material particular. Under the current labour law regime only those who take part in illegal strikes are liable to be prosecuted and forfeit their salaries and allowances.

Education / Nigeria To Overtake India As World Capital For Under-5 Deaths – World Bank by Dapromzy333(m): 7:14am On Nov 30, 2018
The World Bank has said Nigeria will take over India as the world capital for deaths of children under the age of five by 2021.

The bank’s report was based on the fact that India, with a population of 1.3 billion recorded 989,000 under-five deaths in 2017, while Nigeria, with 196 million citizens, recorded 714,000 deaths in the same year.

In its bi-annual economic update on Nigeria, the World bank said Nigeria records the highest number of child malaria deaths anywhere in the world, adding that Nigeria had the highest number of out-of-school children anywhere in the world, and that 90 percent of these children are from northern Nigeria.

The bank said: “Nigeria’s weak revenue mobilization has major implications for its growth and development, including for improving its dire social service delivery outcomes.

“Poverty remains high in Nigeria and access to basic social services is not universal. In 2016, the World Bank estimated poverty at 38.8 percent of the population using the national poverty line.

“By international poverty line of PPP-corrected $1.90 per capita per day, an estimated 49.2 percent of the population lived below poverty in 2017.

“With nine million children out of school, Nigeria has the highest number of out-of-school children of primary school age in the world: North takes over 90 percent of this figure.”

Education / BREAKING: Again, FG Fails To Reach Agreement With ASUU by Dapromzy333(m): 10:29pm On Nov 26, 2018
After a brief fg and ASUU meeting today, The Federal Government has again failed to reach an agreement with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over its ongoing nationwide strike.

This comes as the meeting between the government and union held on Monday behind closed doors at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja ended without a resolution.

National President of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, briefed reporters at the end of the meeting which lasted over three hours and presided over by the Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu.

He said the meeting to resolve the over three weeks industrial action would continue at a later date.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives said it was worried about the ongoing strike which has grounded activities in most universities across the country.

Chairman of the House Committee on Tertiary Education, Mr Aminu Suleiman, stated this when he led members of the committee on an oversight visit to the Ministry of Education.

He appealed to the government and ASUU to go beyond resolving the current industrial action and provide lasting solutions that would make strike in the education sector a thing of the past.

The government, in a statement from the ministry, also said it was committed to ending strikes in the sector despite the challenges of funding.

– A Total and Indefinite Strike –
ASUU commenced a total and indefinite industrial action on November 4 following a meeting of its national leadership at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Professor Ogunyemi had told reporters after the meeting that they took the decision due to the poor funding of universities in the country.

A day after the union announced its decision, Professor Ogunyemi accused the government of making cheap promises, saying their members would not be swayed by such.

“We have concluded that promises from the government are very cheap. We are not bothered about what promises the government makes now,” he had said during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Hours later, the government through the minister, appealed to the union to call off the ongoing strike.

Mr Adamu who addressed a news conference said, “As the Minister of Education, I feel your pain; I share your concern and I am willing to go to any mile so that together we can change the narrative of this country for the better.”

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to ASUU to put off this strike in the name of the country, and in view of what the situation is. Come, let us continue the talk; it is something that we have already started.

"And I am optimistic that dialogue will produce better results. For us to negotiate under the pressure of strike, we will end up producing the kind of agreement we had in 2009, which almost all stakeholders have agreed is not easily implementable,” he added.

On November 15, the government met with the union but the meeting ended in a deadlock.

Twelve (12) inmates who sat for the 2017 November/December West Africa Examination Council/General Certificate of Education (WAEC/GCE) from the Calabar Prisons in Cross River State have passed with distinctions and credits.

The Comptroller of Prisons, Cross River State Command, Mr Imaikop Ndaekong told newsmen that many inmates who wrote the last year’s GCE exams had good results, adding that some of them had distinctions and credits.

Ndaekong said, “During the last November/December General Certificate Examinations, there was a centre in Calabar Prison, many of them took the exams, 12 passed with three distinction and six credits.”

According to DAILY NEWS, the Comptroller further disclosed that the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has opened two new centres in Prisons in Cross River State. The centres are in Calabar and Ikom prisons, respectively

According to him, “National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has established two centres in Cross River State Prisons command, One centre is in Calabar and the other in Ikom Prisons.

The student’s enrollment has started in Calabar Prisons with a student studying Agriculture Extension. Ikom centre was yet to take off but enrollment is ongoing.

“We do enrolled student who are interested and qualified to be a student. NOUN is IT base, that is the area we need members of the public, Churches, NGOs and even government to come in and assist us with computers, library so that we can compete with other command like Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.

“Calabar Centre has taken up and Ikom centre is about to take off, for now we are starting with one student and he is studying Agric Extension

“Other welfare activities in the Prisons Command includes Carpentry, Laundry, Tailoring, Weaving, Hair dressing, etc, are there in the Prisons”.

He further disclosed that, “those who obtained the skills can start practicing in the Prisons pending when they would be released or serve their complete prisons’ terms.

“The inmates who are interested and qualified to enroll in the NOUN programme can attend any of the centre and would be transferred to the centre of their choice to study”.

Ndaekong solicited the support of members of the public, churches, nongovernmental organisations and even the government to provide computers, e-libraries and other accessories to facilitate learning at the centres since the Open University is ICT-based.

“This will enable us to compete with other commands such as Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja. The facilities have capacity for as many students as can enroll.

“But they must have the general requirement to enter university and departmental requirement,” he said.

The Comptroller said as part of efforts to reform the inmates, they are also trained to acquire skills in any area of their choice such as carpentry, laundry, tailoring, weaving and hairdressing.

According to him, “After the training, there is what we call aftercare through which the inmates that have acquired the skills would be empowered.

“We have observed that the family of the discharged inmates make things difficult for them. They do not allow them to practice the trade as people stigmatised them..

“Inmates are not accepted by the people having this view that once someone goes to prison, he has gone there to learn more crimes. That is not the case – this people came out more reformed than when they got in there”.

Education / We Are Doing Everything Possible To End Strike – Education Minister by Dapromzy333(m): 8:21pm On Nov 15, 2018
Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Anwuka has confirmed that there is an ongoing meeting between the Federal Ministry of Education and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, adding that the government is doing everything possible to end the strike.

Anwuka who was cornered by Vanguard yesterday (Thursday) during Lafarge Literacy National competition in Lagos said:”We are doing everything possible to ensure that ASUU calls off their strike.”

Asked when ASUU may likely return to the classrooms, he said: “I don’t know, but we are discussing with them.”

ASUU had twelve days ago at the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Ondo State declared indefinite strike over the Federal Government refusal to honour its 2009 agreements it freely entered with the Union.

Besides, the N1.1 trillion expected from the Federal Government to fund education in Nigerian public universities, ASUU is equally asking for the government to address some lingering issues in the University of Ilorin, Lagos State University and Kwara State University, among others.

Meanwhile, the Minister while presenting his speech during the 5th Lafarge National Literacy Competition, said that literacy improves the future of everyone in society, adding, “it’s critical to individual, community and national economic development.”

The Minister who commended Lafarge Africa for taking literacy to the grassroots and also giving children from the rural areas the opportunity to compete with their colleagues and age mates from the urban areas, said it would sharpen their skills and improve self confidence, which is essential to their development and future prospects.

He said : “It is note worthy that the competition has run for five years across Nigeria with a wider impact and reach every year, working with the SUBEBS, UBEC and Federal Ministry of Education at State and senatorial district levels across Nigeria.

” Federal Government is making several efforts to improve literacy across board in Nigeria. Some of such initiatives include development of school facilities across the country and the national home grown school feeding programme.

“Through these programmes, the government has been able to play its role in increasing school enrolment and completion as the dropout rate of primary school students is about 30 per cent and has been known to be a major root of illiteracy.

“The Federal Ministry of education is happy to endorse and work with Lafarge on this journey to enhance literacy development in public primary school pupils as well as reduce illiteracy in Nigeria.”

Anwukah said that government also recognises the need for partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders in key sectors, especially the private sector in the country.

The event was supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) British Council, Oando Foundation, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Education in charge of Basic Education across the country.

On his part, Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka said that the nation must double her effort to ensure literacy is not thrown away. He urged teachers to ensure that students are not corrupted with what they read in media.

According to him, I am afraid of the level of literacy in this nation. There are errors in the use of Language and tenses both in English and local languages.

He therefore urged organisations to organise programmes for media to aid their literacy level..

Education / AAU Dean Gives Reasons For Not Joining ASUU Strike – See by Dapromzy333(m): 9:27am On Nov 08, 2018
*7 REASONS WHY DEAN FACULTY OF LAW IN AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY REFUSED TO JOIN THE STRIKE*

*The Dean, Faculty of Law of the Ambrose Alli University in Edo state, Prof. Suny Edeko, has distanced himself from the strike action declared by the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU on November 4th.*

*“The strike is to protest the poor funding of Nigerian universities and alleged plan by the federal government to increase students fees and introduce an education bank.” There are a few reasons why I will not support the strike.*

*Firstly, there is no sector in Nigeria with adequate funding. I am sorry to say that even in a corrupt place some people feel they don’t have enough to loot. In the area of funding, note that all institutions in Nigeria deserve better funding.*

*However, with negotiations, the Federal Government of Nigeria is fully involved in developing all higher institutions in Nigeria including those owned by the States.*

*For example, in a state university headed by one digital vice-chancellor, the federal government presence includes*

*(a) Twin Lecture Halls Building (b) about 1000-Seat capacity NLT (c) ICT Centre Building (d) ENT Building (e) Library Building Rehabilitated (f) Faculty of Law Rehabilitated (g) Engineering Faculty Building (h) Faculty of Arts Building (i) Faculty of Life Sciences (j) Faculty of Social Sciences (k) Faculty of Physical Sciences (l) Faculty of Management Building about to start (m) Faculty of Education Building about to start (n) 1000-seat capacity University Main Auditorium (o) Law faculty Auditorium (p) Overseas scholarship for lecturers from which my friends have benefited and (q) many more I have lost count.*

*And this is a state university, not federal. The Federal Government is trying although things always remain to be done even in rich countries. Note that the above things are being done by the FGN in state universities and state colleges of education and Polytechnics.*

*Secondly, as for schools fees, I share the view that all Nigerian students deserve free education up to Ph.D. level. In federal universities where it is alleged that they want to increase school fees, depending on the university, students pay between N30,000 and N60,000 per annum.*

*Why should I go on strike for such students when fresh students in Osun State University pay N253,000 and we are not going on strike for them.*

*Many state Universities students pay between N100,000 and N200,000.Nobody is going on strike for them but we want to embark on strike for students in federal universities who pay lesser school fees that even if fees are increased they may never be up to N100,000.*

*Thirdly, Education Bank was created by a law of the National Assembly titled The Education Bank Act, Cap 422 Laws of the Federation 1990. The long title states that it is an Act to establish the Nigerian Education Bank to approve and disburse loans for educational purposes and for matters incidental to it. If there is such a bank and it is not working well, we rather find ways to make it better and not to kill it.*

*Fourthly, since we claim to be fighting to protect the interest of students, there should be a vote or referendum on the strike by the students so that the strike supposedly meant to protect their interest can only go ahead if those affected approve it. Students did not send ASUU to go on strike for them.*

*Students know how to fight for their rights. ASUU,please count students out of your strike. Look for better reasons to go on strike.*

*Fifth, strike, no matter how strong can never end plans to increase school fees or establish education bank meant for the interest of students.*

*There are plans even in the richest countries to increase school fees.*

*They may or may not be concrete plans. There are plans to always increase salaries in the same way there are plans to increase school fees not only in federal universities but also in state and private universities and other schools at all levels. Should this deserve a strike that will further destabilize the already destabilized academic calendar? I think it doesn’t deserve strike. But it deserves negotiations without strike.*

*Sixth, there are many professors or scholars and experts in arbitration and conflict including labour disputes resolution with extensive skills in negotiation. They can bring their experience and expertise to light with such level of management that there may be no strike to get what you want. Please reason this again and ask yourself whether this strike is worth it.*

*Seventh, where negotiations fail, use propaganda to ruin the government. A strong propaganda machine can make even a strong government to collapse. Use your brains in a superior way. You will be surprised more and better things will be achieved by that. Prove to the nation the brains you have.*

*I WILL NOT GO ON STRIKE*

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Identify A Scam Interview Invitation by Dapromzy333(m): 7:31am On Nov 05, 2018
have seen so many people complaining and lamenting their ordeal in the hands of fake scam companies who invite people for interview only to introduce them to fake drug marketing business.
I’m doing this not only because these companies waste people’s time, energy and T-fare going to such interviews, but also because most of these scammers extort money from helpless job seekers thereby making their suffering too much.

Imagine a scammer extorting #10,500 from a graduate who have been unemployed for years, not to talk of the transport fare wasted going to such fruitless interviews or job chat as they usually call it.

Some people even borrow money to pay these sheep in wolves clothing, who promise them heaven on earth. Some will tell you that you will make half a million within 1 month and all that. If you’re not careful, you will take a loan that you will not be able to repay thus causing embarrassment and lack of rest of mind.

An unemployed person should have only himself to worry about, not having debts also.
So I believe that if you are properly guided, you will not fall into the hands of these scammers.

Having said that, there are ways by which one can identify a fake or scam interview invitation and therefore avoid such waste of time and money. The good thing is that most of their messages come in the same format, so you will know its fake!

Important Things To Note

1. The message does not bear a company name: most of these scammers won’t include their names on the message you will receive. All you will see are the address, the time and date and a phone number. A genuine company will not hide its identity from a potential employee.

2. The message will say “interview/job briefing”: whatever job briefing means I don’t know!

3. You will see a code or reference: something like “HR=0056” or “REF=002”. This is an indication of the code number of the person who invited you to the “job briefing”.

4. It will contain a phone number: this is the number of your referer. Most genuine companies don’t give phone numbers.

5. You will see HR Admin in the message instead of company name.

6. If you call their number, they will be reluctant to give info on the company.

And pls, ignore those people sharing job flyers on the streets, and those ones they paste on walls. Those are scammers and some ritualists too.

And palso most of these so called agencies are avenues for duping unsuspecting job seekers. Pls shine your eyes well.

Pls if you have any experiences in the hands of these scammers kindly share it here or Share in SolutionClass Forum so that others can learn and avoid them too.

Thank you

Education / See List Of Documents To Get Ready For Your School's Clearance Exercise by Dapromzy333(m): 6:57am On Oct 22, 2018
First of all, congratulations to all the candidates who have been offered admission into various undergraduate programmes of their various schools of choice. Same time, we wish all those yet to be offered admission all the best.

Now that you’ve gotten admission, you should know that your journey just began. Yes! You saw that right. Getting admission into a University, Polytechnic, College of Education or any other tertiary institution in Nigeria is not just the beginning. Keeping the admission is another thing all together.

You should also know that there is another screening still remaining for you.

Screening again? Yes, but this time you will not be writing an examination, like during JAMB or Post-UTME exercise. This time, all your credentials will be screened and if there is any misappropriation you might just loose that admission you work so hard to get.

But you don’t have to get so scared, if you have all the documents listed below in place.

So in preparation for your registration and clearance in school, I’ve written down the list of documents you will need during the screening exercise.

The lists of documents you’ll need during screening are as follows:

Post-UTME / DE Screening Result:

This is optional, since it’s not all schools that write exams during Post-UTME screening. So if your school wrote a Post-UTME or Direct Entry Screening examination e.g. like FUTMINNA, you are required to provide your result slip during your school screening.

JAMB Original Result:

We all know this. This is a result you print from JAMB website. It contains your scores of each subject you wrote and your passport. You should print this from a colour printer. Direct Entry candidates don’t need this. If you don’t have your JAMB Original result, CLICK HERE to print yours NOW.

JAMB Acknowledgement Slip:

JAMB acknowledgement slip is ONLY meant for Direct Entry candidates, this is just a proof that you register for JAMB Direct Entry exercise. Some schools might require that UTME candidates should bring it also, so we advise you to go along with it during screening to be on a safe side.

JAMB Admission Letter:

This document is printed from JAMB’s website. Both UTME and DE candidates should have this. If ypou have been offered admission, you can proceed to and JAMB Accredited CBT Centre to print yours.

School Admission Letter:

Few schools make available their admission letter online for printing. i.e. you print your admission letter from the school’s website. School like FUTMINNA practice this, while other schools like BUK only make available an UNOFFICIAL Admission Letter on their site, which candidates will use to collect the original OFFICIAL Admission Letter in school later on. Others on the other hand, give this to students in school e.g. KADPOLY.

A’level Result:

This result is ONLY meant for Direct Entry Candidates, if you are a JAMBITE ignore this. A’level result is basically your ND, NID, IJMB, Diploma, NCE certificates etc.

O’level Result:

This is just basically your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result. Both UTME and Direct Entry Candidates MUST provide this.

Secondary School Testimonial:

Most schools require this document. It’s a proof to show that you finished from the secondary school you claimed during your registrations.

FSLC or Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC):

First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) is your Primary School leaving certificate. Both UTME and DE candidates MUST possess this document during screening exercise.

Primary School Testimonial:

This document is totally different from your FSLC listed above. Though, most schools don’t require this document as your FSLC certificate is good enough for them. But anyway, to be on a safer side you should have this document also.

Birth Certificate / Declaration of Age:

We should all know this. This is basically important as it’s the first prove to show that you are a citizen of Nigeria. But in a situation when you don’t have a Birth Certificate, you can also use a Declaration of Age. So if you don’t have a birth certificate, just go to any high court closest to you and to get a Declaration of Age document for nothing less than N500 (depending on the location of the court). This is compulsory for both UTME and DE candidates.

LGA Certificate:

This is your Local Government Area (LGA) certificate, this document proofs that you are from the local government you claim during your JAMB and Post-UTME screening registrations. Most schools prefer that candidates should come along the LGA certificates directly from their Local Government Area to that of Liaison Offices.  All Candidates should have this document

Others

Proof of payments (tellers), Post-UTME registration slip, JAMB registration slip, and every little piece of paper you value as credential might just be useful for you as you can really predict all the documents that may be required of you during screening. So we advise you to carry every little piece of valuable paper along.

We believe that if you can provide the necessary documents amongst the listed ones above, you are go to go for your screening / clearance exercise.

If you feel we omitted any document, please feel free to notify us using the comment box below.

Or if you have any question, you can also use the comment box, we’ll be glad to help.

All the best in your studies.

Life After School

Let's make something clear, “students think". In fact, students think a lot about money, drinks, parties, opposite sex and so on but most importantly students think about their lives after school, which is good.

The bad thing however is that what they think about life after school are majorly unrealistic thoughts like, "hey, I am finally in 100 level studying economics in Kogi State University, and I'll graduate in 4 years’ time, then go for service and probably do some masters and PhD thingy then get a job and make money".

That's so unrealistic that its makes WWE wrestling more real. Its plain garbage thought you need to start getting out of your head. This life isn't Hollywood, and when you're born into one hell of a country like Nigeria you need to wise up and start thinking with your "brain".

If you can take your time and look outside your window to see millions of graduates roaming about the streets you'll probably understand that it’s not as easy as you think it is, if it was that easy your parents and your friends parents and all parents in Nigeria will be multi billionaires and you may not even need to go to school.

Life isn't easy, and Nigeria is making life even harder for Nigerians. The labour market is so choked up, it will take extra power for an angel to pass through. There is hardship in every corner of the country and the earlier you realize these things, the better for you.

So instead partying and smiling all around school why don't you sit yourself down and not only think logically but also plan logically. These topics might get you onto the right path:

- First and foremost you need to realize you only have one life to live, every circumstance you find yourself will most definitely come once, you don't go to primary school twice, well, except you're going there the second time to teach or something. My point is, in every situation you find yourself you have to try hard in making the best outta that situation, if you don't succeed, it’s okay, at least you tried.

- Ask yourself questions, like why are there few rich people in the country, what can I do to get there, what are my potentials, what are my weaknesses. You have tons of questions you should start asking yourself.

- You need to start tasking yourself. Are you too young to make money?? I mean, there are lots of unemployed graduates out there who still depend on their parents. I know you don't want to belong in that category when you're done with school. You need to know what you have to do to make that money so you do not have to depend on anybody.

God has given you a talent, why don't you discover it and start using it to make money now. There are tons of things you can do as an undergraduate that can cough out money for you, you just need to think and plan on how to strike a balance between your academics and what you're doing.

It's not how petty the job is or how little you're earning. It’s about knowing for a fact that you can do something to improve your situation.

A lot of OND, HND, BSc, PhD holders are out there (those certs are common these days), some even have all those certs with them at the moment but have nothing to show for it because they failed to realize that school is not about learning on how to work for a boss, it’s also about how to develop yourself to being your own boss.

- You need to stop thinking about your future and know that the future you are thinking of is "NOW". You have to start thinking and planning logically from now on.

- You need to start encouraging yourself to do things that'll make you big. Forget where you are now, it doesn't matter, its where you're going to be when it’s all said and done that matters.

Forget the fact that you stay in Dagana or you stay in one shady place around KSU, and your fellow mates stay in billionaires lodge or exquisite lodge (it’s probably not their money anyways), it doesn't matter. What matters is that you are formulating a plan that will change your situation when four years is done and dusted.

- All in all you have to think of doing only what's necessary to get that money, not something people like or what they don't like, not what brings shame to you or doesn't bring shame to you, you don't have to care what people think about you, 'cause at the end of it all it's you and only you that matters.

Nobody remembers the disgusting or not disgusting things Dangote has done in the past, because it was necessary to get him to where he is now, “the richest man in Africa".
