Quote @Mazaja
We know today that a "day" is the period of time when the part of the planet the observer is on is turned towards the sun, and "night" is the period when it is turned away from the sun, correct?

The very definition of the words "day" and "night" are absolutely dependent on the relationship of the earth to the sun. . . . Without that relationship, these words cease to have any meaning. Take away the earth or the sun, and there can, by definition, be no "day" or "night."

Yet the Bible claims that:
God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

How? We know that the light and darkness are not really "separated," what we call "night" is simply the earth's shadow. Yet somehow we have "day" and "night" for three full days before there is any sun!. . . . . What's more, God went on to cover the earth with growing plants the day before he bothered to create the sun!, . . . Plants growing with no sun, day and night with no sun. What was holding the earth and other planets in orbit since the earth was created before the sun according to the genesis creation myth?

In fact, Genesis tells us that the earth was created first, and the sun, moon, and stars were not created until the 4th day of creation, . . This is clearly nonsense. . . . Aside from the scientific evidence to the contrary, we know without even bothering to think that a "day" without the sun is a logical impossibility.

Clearly, the bible cannot be trusted as a factual source of any information regarding cosmology.

[b]
When God created LIGHT on the first day (Gen 1v3), what kind of light do you think it was…Gen 1v3-5 …”and God saw that it was good and divided the light from the darkness( how He did it we don’t know…He might have started the Earth rotation and revolution on that day, remember it was nothing before)…and the morning and the evening were the first day”….but since you know all, please tell us how He did it.
Light is needed for photosynthesis, the sun is a source…very big universal source of that light, in developed countries with little sun, they produce enough food to feed themselves and Export to other countries, some of these food are produced in green houses and they don’t need sunlight they use other light sources e g. use of deep red light …perfect for photosynthesis(Research in Germany; www.research-in-germany.de)
What was the Light referred to as the first creation in verse 3….
Verse 14 …and God said “let there be LIGHTS”….how many sources of light do we have…many….Stars, moon, Sun…how many stars….thousands…THIS GOD IS TOO MUCH I WORSHIP YOU BABA YOU ARE ALMIGHTY…I LOVE YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL CREATION…just gaze out at the lovely sky on a cloudless sky it is awesome.
My dear friend, I don’t know the source of your hurt, we both know you have a vacuum, an emptiness, you have to fill, no knowledge, Anger, frustration, fighting, shouting etc will fill it ONLY GOD .Then you will have inner peace.

Water on earth before the sun and stars were created, eh? You must be kidding me if you believe in this nonsensical myth that has no basis in reality. . .

The bible says, ….no form, and void…if this is myth to you sorry…what percentage of the earth is water….2/3rd about 70.8% according to geography, if you dig deep, what do you hit even in deserts…water, what surrounds most continent…water, what is the main identity of the earth that differs it from other planet, water and air. It is only creation that has given us a logical reason for the difference between the earth and other planets…any contrary EVIDENCE… ? .The big bang/evolution theories cannot explain why we have so much water relative to land.

What evidence do you have to show that the earth and the heavens(assuming the heavens means the universe) were created at the same time in the beginning? Scientific evidence has shown that the earth came into existence long after many stars and galaxies were in existence. . .The evidence is all there, go do a little study on cosmology. .By the way who was the very first human being to receive this information?

My dear friend, mazaje, show us the evidence that shows “the earth came into existence long after many stars and galaxies were in existence “ you said “the evidence is all there”…please detail them.
Creation is not based on scientific evidence, rather, scientific discoveries on the earths foundation are eye openers of what God has done. Tell me why is earth the only habitable planet, despite all the galaxies out there with so many chances of collision and formation of new matter why, if your evolution theory is true, in the past millions of years, we have not had another big bang an formation of a new civilization…oh sorry you believe in UFO and aliens but you don’t believe in God, am I right?.
First human to receive the information ? ; Adam, who passed it to his children, etc…Gen 3 v 9. God spoke regularly with Adam.

   BELOW IS A SEQUENCE OF CREATION OF ANIMALS THEN MAN
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
DOES THIS RING A BELL OF WHAT SOME ‘’WISE’’ PEOPLE TELL IS THE ORDER/EVOLUTION OF LIFE; MICROBES, AMPHIBIANS, REPTILES, BIRDS,MAMMALS,MAN; SEE BELOW;
23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

DEFINITION OF FIRMAMENT;
     ‘Firmament is the vault or expanse of the sky.[1] The word is first recorded in the 13th century and is anglicized from Latin firmamentum’(MERRIAM WEBSTER DICTIONARY) According to Genesis, God created firmament ex nihilo and used it to make Heaven,  The Latin phrase ex nihilo means "out of nothing". It often appears in conjunction with the concept of creation, as in creatio ex nihilo, meaning "creation out of nothing" — chiefly in philosophical or theological contexts, but also occurs in other fields
.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry [land] appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry [land] Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He Seas: and God saw that [it was] good.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, [and] herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed [was] in itself, after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:A DIVISION OF THE LIGHT FOR THE SPECIFIED FUNCTION
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that [it was] good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl [that] may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

@MAZAJE,
LET US HAVE SOME INTELLIGENT DISCUSSION, AS MUCH AS I HATE TO COPY AND PASTE, FOR CLEARITY, I HAVE COPIED THE FIRST 26 VERSES OF GENESIS CHAPTER 1EXACTLY AS IT IS AND I HAVE MADE EXPLANATION IN BOLD, I HAVE ALSO PUT IN BOLD AREAS OF NOTE.ANY RATIONAL, OPEN MINDED INTELLECT WILL UNDERSTAND IT, I HAVE ALSO INCLUDED THE FOOD CHAIN THAT CAME INTO EXISTENCE AFTER OVER 2000YEARS AFTER THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN, WHERE NECCESSARY, I HAVE REFERENCED MY WORK. HAPPY READING;
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.( THIS IS THE SUMMARY OF THE CHAPTER; WHAT GOD DID, IF YOU HAVE EVER WRITTEN A PUBLISHED PAPER, YOU SHOULD KNOW YOU START WITH AN INTRODUCTION,YOU SUMMARISE WHAT THE WHOLE PAPER IS ALL ABOUT)
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. DESCRIPTION OF WHAT WAS IN THE BEGINNING, DARK, NO LIGHT, NO FORM, VOID.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. FIRST CREATION, LIGHT
4 And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.THE FIRST MENTION OF DAY AND NIGHT AFTER LIGHT WAS CREATED AND A DIVISION OF DAY AND NIGHT
6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Reading the Bible in the morning is the best way to start your day, I have read it cover to cover a few times, not keeping count,just enjoying the process.
Any body out there interested in going through the Bible to test its relevance in to days world ?.
Genesis,
          Explained creation in the most sensible way;
                                              -Light the source of energy was first created to power everything Gen 1v3. It powers the food chain
                                              -Air; Oxygen to make Earth habitable Separation of the firmament Gen 1v 7; outside the heaven, there is no oxygen to support life.
                                              -Land; for life to grow and live on Gen1 v 10
                                              -Plant; primary source of food in the food chain Gen 1v 11
                                              -Separation of the light into Sunlight (for photosynthesis) and Moon and stars (Evaporation, rest etc) at night Gen 1v 16
                                              -Animals created Gen 1 v 20-25 the next in the food chain, fishes, herbivores, carnivores.
                                              -Man created Gen 1 v 26. the top of the food chain, created last.
It is interesting to note this record in the bible existed thousands of years before science "discovered " the food chain.
    ONLY THE FOOLISH SAYS THERE IS NO GOD. THE BIBLE HAS A LOT OF INFORMATION FOR OUR WORLD WE ONLY NEED TO SEARCH IT OUT, if you have more please post.
PoliticsRe: What Is The Big Deal About Fashola? Nonsense! by DARA1234: 8:59am On May 25, 2011
Amaechi is a good governor and his impact on his people is being felt, the same thing for Oshiomole and of course Fashola, the only difference is that the pace at which Fashola is going is completely out of the ordinary, the guy never tires, he is like a man on a mission, a man with passion, no doubt he is a challenge to other governors. If you are good, it will be clear for all to see nationally and internationally.If he had been made the chair of the NGF, it might have been a political suicide, he is a better influencer as an outsider. Come 2015, if Fashola doesn't get a National duty, I am sure the International community will have many better paying jobs for him the same day. It is a shame this keeps happening in Nigeria, tribalism has eaten into our fabric, we have people that can transform the country in 2 years but tribalism, rotation etc will not allow. We have lost great people to the International community, such as; Okonjo Iweala (she will make a good president any day sentiments aside ), Ribadu (a good leader too, Internal or police affair minister or even the president )and many more be they Hausa, Igbo , Itshekiri, Effick, Ibibio, Kanuri, Benin,Ijaw, etc. IT IS A SHAME THE AMOUNT OF ETHNICALLY BIASED SENTIMENTS THAT GOES ON ON THIS SITE, A SITE SUPPOSEDLY FOR YOUTHS AND THE EDUCATED, I WISH WE CAN SEE THE FACES OF SUCH PEOPLE INVOLVED SO THEY CAN BE CATEGORISED AS TRIBALISTS THAT THEY ARE, IF SUCH PEOPLE SEEK ELECTIVE POSTS IN NIGERIA, WE SHOULD STAND UP AGAINST THEM. HERE IN THE WESTERN WORLD WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST RACISM, BACK HOME THINGS ARE WORSE.
IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT A TRIBALIST, STATE SOME GOOD THINGS ABOUT OTHER NIGERIAN TRIBES, I WILL START;
-IGBO PEOPLE; Industrious, hard working and I love their weddings, especially the bridal dance and good food.
-HAUSA PEOPLE;Beautiful people(especially the women),Kind and very helpful a very strong community, I love them.
-YORUBA PEOPLE; Intelligent, I like the way they are passionate about there language and culture.
For any further contribution, please say something nice about other tribes if you are not tribalistic or at least better than the racists of this world.

Good job aletheia.
  When you are passing a public health message to the masses you use a common language like"HIV NO DEY SHOW FOR FACE" to explain  the fact that  a man or woman looks healthy, beautiful,sexy, well looking does not mean they are HIV free. Here in the UK, I have met many fine and healthy HIV positive people, the same when I work in the USA.
Kobokunje and Ileke-Idi, your point is not too wrong, people with HIV may have symptoms and they may not so to communicate with the masses who wouldn't be asking to feel for lymph nodes, or examine the abdomen(which in most cases will be normal), best thing is to advice everybody to be careful, practice safe sex, don't share needles etc and it is true, let us spread the word;

@Gbawe,
I must say reading your responses gives me confidence we still have critical and objective people on Nairaland and in Nigeria, we do not need to follow any body blindly we need objectivity, while I am happy all three major contestants are not the worst and any one of them will move the Nation forward, I also belief the pace and extent will differ depending on who wins:
-Ribadu is youthful ready for change, a technocrat, enlightened,current and has a passion for a better Nigeria, honestly I think he represents what we need Now to catch up with the rest of the World, he represents the leader who can talk where Cameron, Obama, Sarkozy,etc talk without being intimidated.
-Buhari [/b]highly respected, dislikes corruption,with a forward looking VP-Bakare will also move the Nation forward but I think not as fast as Ribadu
-[b]Goodluck
, nice open, humble, good hearted, is also an agent of positive change, but the influence of powerful PDP influences will always slow him down.
In all I pray we get it right this time, it brings tears to my eyes when we continue to
-suffer in the midst of plenty
-import refined petrol, even India and Pakistan now use LNG to fuel their cars.

-Lack power

I am not saying Tinubu is a saint, and I am not trying to defend Ribadu, a man I respect plenty, I have a question and please Nairalanders help me out, how was Tinubu able to govern Lagos with many achievements and developmental projects for 8 years despite not getting any fund from the Federal government. Apart from running Lagos well, I believe he should be partly(if not mostly) credited for the break of the monopoly of PDP on the Nation. I think he deserves commendation rather than name calling.

I got saved quite early in secondary school after making fun at born again christians and doing my own interesting clubs I succumbed to pressure and attended a school programme there my sinful nature was revealed to me and the need to accept Christ into my life. I gave my life to Christ although I faced a lot of persecution  from my parents God kept me and today most of them are christian's they saw a difference in my life and wanted the same.I love Jesus, I havent been perfect but I pray He will help me be who He wants me to be.
Dont give up the best way to preach Christ is to live the life of Christ; kind, loving, forgiving, not judgmental,prayerful.

This is it
If the government is sincere, do the right thing that will be apparent for all to see;
1. do not beg FIFA,
2.Charge and properly prosecute the thiefing officials
3.Set up a committee of qualified football administrators to run the Nations football for a year, this should include our educated international footballers; Okocha, Keshi, Siasia, Oliseh, Yekini, Fash etc
4. Get the banks involved for sponsorships
5. Get the above to set up a committee to turn around Nigeria football; League, Youth development, International friendlies outside FIFA's control.
6.Call FIFA and then do new elections with FIFA approval, by then we would have weaned the Sport of politicians and have only professionals.

I think the election result should be declared invalid, politicians barred from the election and a new board of professionals appointed; we know those that can work;
Odegbami
Okocha
and other professionals
getting a FIFA ban is better than getting the same inapproprate leadership.
I will be very dissapointed if the presidency doesnt do anything.

Or better still look for a Nigerian sports Professor in USA who is good into Admin .
My Advice is to use technocrats all round no politicians at all, then we will know President Jonathan is serious.
