PoliticsQuestion About Nigeria's Police Force. by DaRapture(op): 5:41pm On Jan 29, 2012
Why is it that Nigeria has a National force, instead of individual State and City forces? Having one force in which answers to the Central government is ridiculously ineffective and wasteful, as has beef proven thus far.

While the gov. is making its way into decentralizing the nation, perhaps they should consider eliminating the subsidy on the Policing of the nation, by decentralizing it, and allowing each state to form their own Police forces, as well as allowing the nation's cities to form their own if they can afford to. The Central gov. can then use the the funds it spends on the NPF, to fund the creation of a much needed policing body similar to that of the FBI in which will handle only Federal criminal cases, much like that in which groups like Boka Haram present.

In the US, BH would be investigated, tracked down and eliminated by the well funded, trained and experienced agents of the FBI, in which even has authority over the State and city based police agencies, and can prosecute them if they are not performing appropriately.

The problem with a Federal based police network, is that there is little room for checks and balance in the security network of a nation with it, and this leads to grave openings for mass corruption and pore performance.

firstly, jos people do not rely on security operatives for their safety. Secondly, we'll need to be at alert and any suspicious individual should be hacked down immediately then we ask questions later. Thank goodness muslims dont go into xtian areas. Anyone looking like them would be lynched immediately. However, If they succeed, muslims in jos should get ready for ww3. Jos not kano. Reprisal reprisal reprisal
Even if the area that is attacked a Muslim/Northern ethnic area, and most of those killed Muslim/Northern ethnics? Remember that most of those killed in Kano were Northerners and Muslim.

and must they announce hw many they kill? Dis will def. Stir anger in those guy(bh) nd thus causing dem to react fast nd pouncing on d innocent ones to retaliate. I think their strategies on tracking bh shld b kept secret instead of spilling out d bean nd making them(bh) a step ahead of d govt, I weep so much for my dear country as much as i love it cos i smell war.i've dreamt abt dis current happening in Nig. times witout numbers, nd i hp it does nt get worse as much as i saw it. LORD! plssssss let Peace reign again, bless NIGERIA.
Announcing the number in which they've killed will not make a difference to groups like this, because in their ideology, just one killed is considered reason enough to go Ape and do more carnage.

any attack in jos is gonna be deadly. well jonadoll cant do anything as an hapless president, i'll advise if you stay in jos consider relocating.
What exactly are you expecting him to do, beyond that in which he's already done? He is the president not god, all he can do is insure that proper police coverage is placed in areas where sound intelligence reports state that BH elements are most likely to be and or will most likely to target.

The best and most sound way to target groups like this is to be informed of and counter their moves, before they execute them, and you can only due this if you are able to effectively infiltrate their outfit and closes contacts with informants.

The President, has seen to it that American and Israeli intelligence specialist were brought to the nation to aid in the retraining and guidance of the SSS and Police, so to better prepare them for the task. The more they work together the better the Nigerian intelligence networks will become, but it does take time.

Their is only so much a president can do, it takes the professional efforts of every man and women in a place of social, political and security authority to bring this threat under control. Yes, JEG has made some mistakes in the early run, in containing this group, but so has his past two predecessors, so it's not really right to place the blame of how out of control BH has become solely on his lap.

To do so is the equivalent of placing the blame of the US's massive debt, financial waste in Iraq and Afghanistan, and slumped economy Solely on Obama's lap, when in reality much of the problems before him were handed to him by his predecessors to be resolves by him.

Many of you are wishing upon stars here, in your desires to have salaries payed back and all that other stuff, what's done is done, and what you should be wishing and protesting out on the streets for now, is that the dilapidated structures in which allowed these clowns to do what they had done in the first place will be torn down and reconstructed in a more secure fashion, so to disallow and or make it much more difficult to happen again. Don't live in the doom of yesteryear, strive for the creation of a better new year and beyond. This is a wonderful starting point.

The typical nigerian mindset is quick money/profit. Why should he invest into a factory/industry and suffer losses when he can buy and sell at a good margin.

There are millions of folks that make a livelihood on buying from US, UK Europe, Asia Dubai, importing (hand-carried or cargo) and re-selling/retailing.
Now that's one sorry azz trifling mentality right there.

when are we going to stop this importation mindset. not a mech. eng. by qualification, but how difficult is it to design a bicycle for crying out loud, it def. cant be rocket science i presume.
come on steal the design and make the damn thing in your village and provide employment for your people.
Exactly, and that is the thing that really gets to me. Why must other people always bring you crap when you can make the crap yourself and distribute it to your people? This is the big difference between an African mindset and an Asian and or Western mindset; Africans like to find ways to skate around a problem, while most Asian and western people seek to eliminate it and profit from it, and this is how they've become so successful in history.

latest study has african americans down at about 20% euro 80% african. of the african admixture about 47% is yoruba, 15% is bantu, and 14% is mandinka. for some reason they didn't even test for igbo, hausa, ashanti, and fula - other significant contributions to the composite lineage of african americans. but we know that igbo couldn't be larger than yoruba. some islands and other areas are mostly igbo like barbados. but if there were a single tribe african americans could self-identify with (which would be a bad idea considering many would have another dominate admixture), it would be yoruba.

the most 'glorious' of the tribes is probably the mandinka, having built both the mali and songhay dynasties. i think african americans should embrace the best of all these tribes.
LOL @ this Jokester, talking pure gibberish. Show your proof of this tail, because I've got mountains of credible proof in which clearly shows that we AA are most significantly of Igbo, Senegambian and Some significant Angolan ethnic group's descent. Yoruba ranks VERY, VERY low in our genetic make up, and this can clearly be seen in our general features. LOADS of us look a lot like Igbo and other related SE Nigerian groups as well as well as various Angolan and Senegambian ethnics, while you'd be hard pressed to find an AA who looks much like your average Yoruba.

I didn't want to post this before, on the basis that i want to avoid contributing to the unrest. Before, i was almost in support of removal of fuel subsidy, thinking that the government will actually work this time, but the closer i looked at the situation, the clearer it becomes that this government is filled with IMF/world bank puppets who will stop at nothing to see the downfall of this country. Same thing that happened to Argentina in the 90s is what this people want for us

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH6_i8zuffs&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

see the striking similarities to nigeria. IMF head visits, and a few days later, fuel subsidy is gone. Why won't the government even consider building refineries first/repair existing ones, then remove subsidy. something fishy is happening to our country. even Reuters said IMF forced our government to remove subsidy, and it is a fact that no country prospered while following IMF policies. non. are our leaders so dumb to learn from history? I hope this protests blows out into a full blown REVOLUTION. because only revolution can free us from the claws of the orligags/criminals.
