PoliticsRe: Armed Forces Ready For Any Crisis - Defence Min. Mohamed by DaRapture: 2:12pm On May 18, 2012
The Defender: ABUJA—Defence Minister, Dr. Bello Mohammed, said, yesterday, that the Armed Forces were in a state of combat readiness needed to surmount all issues of insecurity, internal or external. He said government has ensured this by funding the requirements of the different arms of the military.Speaking at the ministerial platform organised by the Ministry of Information and Communication in Abuja, the minister noted that the state of combat readiness was achieved following the repairs and upgrading of a number of Armoured Fighting Vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers for the Nigerian Army.

He also said the acquisitions of the warship, NNS Thunder, and a number of Shaldag Fast Patrol Boats for the Navy, in addition to existing weaponry for the two services, had made them combat-ready.

The minister said the F7Ni Supersonic Jet fighter had been acquired by the Nigeria Air Force, even as M-35-Helicopters had been retrofitted, while Super Puma Helicopters and Alpha-jets had undergone upgrading and re-inducted.

Mohammed said: “We (Ministry of Defence) have also refurbished some of our C-130H Aircraft in the NAF inventory.”

He noted that the ministry placed great emphasis on the welfare of personnel of the armed forces.

LOL @ how he's spouting out that second hand junk equipment like its state of the art first class stuff. Nigeria's gov. is too corrupt to buy some REAL equipment. That military is till using the standard AK47 as their primary weapon. LOL. cheesy Alfa-Jets?... Really? He actually had the nerve to mention that they still use those dinosaurs. LOL cheesy

PoliticsRe: ECOWAS To Deploy Troops To Guinea Bissau by DaRapture: 3:05pm On May 15, 2012
This is stupid. Nigeria needs to deploy troops to resolve the problem they have bubbling right in their own nation, and the nation they need to deploy them to is Niger and and Chad, which are the nations where many of these BH members are coming from and are being trained. But the Nigerian government is too Gutless to deploy into a bordering nation. cheesy

No wonder my wife and her sister don't want anything to do with that nation or its people. Y'all have like the worst karma I've ever seen among any people ever known in history. Negativity and utter failure and chaos just spews out that nation, like puss from a putrid, rotting, gushing open sore. I feel sorry for you people.

BuffaloSoldier: Good lookin' out bruh!

So, why are Eastern girls so pretty??, I swear they all looked like they were black american, I could usually tell a black american a part from a African, But, I would have a REAL hard time with the women u linked me to, Are these girls Yoruba, Igbo? Or just a combination of both? What the hell are they drinking in the Eastern part of Nigeria?? I propose with do a little cultural exchange program with these Eastern ladies, lol, Simply beautiful man, Thanks!
Blosol, it's odd that you should mention how much they look like our own AA women, in that we AA are actually heavily of Igbo descent. Nearly 60% of us are of some Igbo descent, with about 40% of us maintaining Igbo as our primary source of African lineage. More Igbo were brought to North America/US lands than any other single one African ethnic group during the Atlantic slave trade. Over 60% of the slaves within the Chesapeake regional states, especially VA and MD, were strait Igbo.

My wife is Igbo and was born and raised here in the US, as was her sister, and when they make it known to those whom don't know them...that they're African, most people have a really hard time believing it, because they lack an accent, and they look very indistinguishably Black-American, stereotypical speaking, but I'm sure you know just what I mean. Now with their last names changed (my wife has my last name and her sister took the last name of her Black-American husband)there's absolutely no way to tell that they weren't just regular ol BA (sorry, Iv'e stopped using the term African-American).
CultureRe: Gift For Nigerian Boyfriend's Mother by DaRapture: 4:54am On Apr 26, 2012
AmeriBeauty: Hi All!

I am new to this forum. Currently I am dating a Nigerian man. I can't remember the name of his tribe. Mother's Day is coming up, and as an African American woman I enjoy giving gifts during this time (women who I adore & are old enough to be my mother). Is it inappropriate to send my boyfriend's mother a gift for Mother's Day. I will have to send it to Nigeria, hopefully I will receive some responses in time. Also, my boyfriend and I have not made it to the 90 day mark yet but we seem to be hitting it off really well. He has shown me pictures of his family, and talks highly of them. It may be better to ask him, but I wanted to know what you thought before I asked if it was ok to send her a gift. Also I welcome gift suggestions: nice picture frames, perfumed lotions, jewelry, household items etc. By the way, his mom is in her 70's.

Thank you in advance for your advise smiley
Lord have Mercy. Sista, I'm an African-American myself, and I'm telling you that you need to slow the hell down with this dude. You've been in this relationship less than 90 days and you sending the dudes mamma a gift? LOL!! I'm sorry.. I've gotta be real with you right now, don't be silly. I don't know you from Adam, but you are my AA sista and there for I care about your well being and don't wish to see you fall into the same trap as many, many more of our fellow sistas have with loads of these Nigerian guys. Please slow down, and take your time with this dude, and feel him out for at least a good year or two before you start doing things like sending his momma flowers and stuff.

Many of these dudes are sly as shit, and use good hearted AA sistas like you for all kinds of miscellaneous evil deeds, and then they disappear on you like you were nothing after they've got what they wanted out of you; leaving you thinking you'all had something special going on, while in the mean time they had a whole other family waiting on them back in Naija, or some other objective more important than you to get to. LOL!!! Watch yourself good sista.

My wife is Nigerian, and my parents were going to pay for our wedding, and her parents insisted on contributing to the expense
An exception to the rule. Most Naija weddings are paid for by the men.
Well, there you go... perhaps they felt no need to follow tradition as you claim it to be, due to the fact of that it wasn't going to be a Naija wedding.
