Am gonna be frank with you on this one.
Nigerian Devs are motivated by money I agree. We don't really care much about your "big idea".

We build for you so you can get on with your business. It's on to the next project for us.
Don't try to make us partners and all that co-founder crap. It's such an old line. Doesn't work.

To protect yourself, you could ask for a wire frame or a prototype of your idea, but honestly not all who want software projects know what they are doing.

Chaps come up here and ask you "how much does it cost to build this and that app/project?" This questions are very naive. I know that 90 percent are just jokers. You cannot really estimate the total cost of a software project. You don't have to agree with my opinion on this.

Its better these sets of people stick to making regular websites which costs less than 50k.

So Nigerian devs are not the problem really, we have our faults. Project/ Idea owners need to have a real understanding of what they really want.
I love this!!!

Halsatt, Austria consistently wins the award of the most Instagrammed place on my IG feed. Not a day goes by without me seeing it being shot from different angles and at different times. I'll visit there, and sing Ed Sheeran's "should this be the last thing I see, I want you to know it's enough for me"

simiolu1:
The course is online. You would have to open an Udacity account to take the courses. But you should wait to get instructions. You would need data too... lots of it because course content is delivered through videos.

You can decide to get all the videos of the course content at once but the courses are designed in such a way that there is a progress monitor for your account for every video you watch. This progress monitor would be part of your assessment. So in the end, there is no escaping watching the videos online.

You would be invited to a slack channel and subsequently, organized into WhatsApp groups. The slack channels would be very crowded and rowdy; so don't let it overwhelm you. Just follow instructions and you would be fine. The WhatsApp groups would be saner.

Then there are going to be physical meetups which are organized and grouped by your state of residence and location. The meetups are basically to go over the course content and smoothen out areas that people are having issues with.

I suggest that you be active at meetups. Let people know that there is a problem you can solve for them. At my meetup, I was the gradle guy. If anyone had issues with Android studio, I was the go to guy. Contribute too. Watch the videos and understand them before going for the meetups. It would enable you help others.

I got a job offer from the guy handling the meetup I used to attend because of this. I declined the offer though.

Then don't default on your assignments. And do them yourself. A lot of people look for ways to boycott not doing the assignments. But they are putting themselves in poo. The course is designed in such a way that the knowledge builds up. By doing the assignments, you apply what you have learnt and you can judge yourself if you are lagging in some areas.

If you can lay hands on study materials for the track you applied for, it would be a good thing too. So that you can hit the ground running once the course starts.

If you are for web, install the necessary software you would need like code editor ( I would suggest VS Code). Jeffery Way of laracasts.com just published a VS Code series that you should take a look at. I know the web track would be using the MEAN (MongoDB, Express, Angular and NodeJS) stack. So you should also find a way to install node.js and Mongo DB.

The total size of the packages of the MEAN stack should not be over 1GB. I'm not sure though.

If you are for the Android track; then install Android studio. Believe me, this would save you a lot of stress later. The reason is because to install Android studio and get it functional, you would need to install the Java SDK. Android Studio version 3.0 currently clocks in at almost 2GB for the installer. Then you would need to download SDK libraries.

And please, these softwares are not things you can easily come across in computer village. You would only come across them from developer geeks like you. So, spending time to prepare for the course is time well spent.

In the end, starting is easy; finishing is the hard part. All the best
Thanks for this boss!! That Slack tho, the day I installed it on my phone I no even understand it all..
Awaiting further instructions from Andela tho

According to Times Higher Education any University less than 50 is a young University.
Care to mention that that List is limited to 200 universities (top ones) and also that it is a complete prerogative of any ranking body to define a university how it so pleases. I know you are reaching, but in the Nigerian context, FUNAAB is not a young university

Of course they would never agree. No Alumni group would ever agree to such. It takes a long time to build a University reputation. You can do change of name for a young federal university like FUOYE or FUNAAB but not with UI and Unilag. That could even plunge their webometric rank down.

Lol UI ke lai lai. He won't even dare. He should have done it with FUNAAB. Moshood Abiola University of Agriculture Abeokuta MAUAA grin
FUNAAB is 29 years old, and therefore not a 'young' university. The name change was necessary as many people who knew and referred to it as 'Unaab' didn't realize it was a federal University from the get go. The F at the front was just to make its status as a Federal University more prominent.

I dare say Reekado has been the face of mavin this year, tiwa savage to some extent...
Johnny drille is good at what he does, so is Poe but are they bankable artistes in the industry? I don't think so.
I'm not hyping him. He is that good.

Don Jazzy is not so great a producer as many perceive him to be. Sadly, he never gained any experience with the mishap of Mo' Hits.

Johnny Drille would have been a stronger male version of the Taylor Swift we never had but he died the day he agreed to Don Jazzy.

Wande Coal started out with R&B, beating Banky to an award (can't recall now), but flipped because his 'producer' fancy songs in which he would air that annoying voice of his.

I don't see Johnny Drille going places with Mavin. The young man should have stuck to wherever he was and sought aggressive promotions but no, he jumped like many upcoming acts would.

Sad tale but true, save he leaves Mavin, he might not have the life he had long dreamt of, career-wise.
I feel you 100%. But I don't know if Johnny can really afford to be selective. Nigerians are starting to accept alternative music (Simi, Aramide, etc) so for him to stay at home in Benin forming "unique music" may actually harm his growth (case study Brymo).

Mavins is not ideal for him, but even me sef can't think of a better idea for. I sha know he needs the exposure Don Jazzy can give him. I pray he has the wisdom to stay afloat

Bros try understand posts before commenting. I didn't say anything about Tiwa and Ricky's ability to make music. I said that Johnny Drille is an accomplished artiste who can also stand on his own

People here saying Tiwa and Ricky the saving grace of Mavin , I just dey laff. Clearly y'all don't know about Johnny Drille. Dude can sing, write, he makes his own beats and also produces.. Most of his best work were even self-made before he signed with Mavins for crying out loud.

Iyanya should just go and sit down abeg

^^^ This is exactly why I told OP to desist wasting his time on redundant exercises and brainteasers. Exercises ask you to build GPA calculators even your retail store mom won't use. She can't use it not because she hates you but because it's practically useless! You need to productively try your hands on real life projects. But since you have no experience yet (and can't score any jobs yet) mail our senior programmer in the house, Asalimpo the Lout cheesy (or any mainstream Java guys you know i.e fulaman198 wink , talk2hb1 etc), so they share their workload with you and you grow from there.

Then after a couple years, when you're balling big and living large on a fancy island off the proceeds of some offshore Java coy placement with a juicy take-home, come back to these lowly neighborhoods and worship me for giving you the advice that turned your life around.
He is a beginner. I believe you know what that means?
