What I see here is nothing but inferiority complex.
First of language is dynamic and as such changes over time, you can't expect us to not be innovative with our official language regardless of wherever it came. Brazilians have their own Portuguese vocabulary as does Mexico, chile, Argentina which differs to some extent from colonial Portuguese and Spanish. So if they can why shouldn't we?
If it were new American slang, them know born the Brits not to include and recognize it in their dictionary but since it's us now |

fratermathy: There's no need arguing what can easily be verified with someone whose disposition is not fertile for learning.
Isoko people, for over 30 years, had their provincial headquarters at Ughelli before the Isoko province was created in 1963 with headquarters at Oleh. When they went to Ughelli, what language do you think they spoke to the Urhobos there?
Think about it. I don't need your response, however pretentiously civil it may be this time. I guess you are not from ughelli area? The isoko language and urhobo of ughelli area isn't that far apart when it comes to intelligibility... Infact the communities of uweru( I don't think I spelt it right), Evwreni(fomerly isoko).. Speak a variant of isoko language |
Culture › Re: The Official Isoko Thread! All Isoko People Should Post Here. by darfay: 7:57pm On Aug 11, 2019 |
Efewestern: The Isoko language isn't uniform, it has over 18 dialects and yes Aviara/Uzere is the standard dialect. Lol Isoko people from Enwhe and ozoro can communicate with each other and experience over 100% intelligibility. So to that extent the language is uniform to a very large extent with the exception of Erowha which has a distinct dialect The supposed standard is Aviara not Uzere (both arediff communities) as the Bible and written form are in this dialect only because those who had the initiative of writing our language are from there nothing more It's high time we recognize okpe and uvwie as separate languages |
