Nedville: Unbelievable
Our players were crap....this is an Algerian team who played a day after Nigeria, went to war with ivory coast and played extra time....and our midfield was fatigued?
They were so heavy...Algeria won most of the second balls....passing was poor and ighalo was blunt
We were terrible....and deserved to be beaten....congrats to Algeria
Otedola and dangote should invest in grassroot football...not to promise 75,000 for each goal I have suggested this times without number on this thread bro It won't be a bad Idea if they each acquired clubs in the NPFL But the way the league is run discourages Private investors, thus these billionaires shy away from investing. Thus, league management must be removed from the government completely. If private investors take charge, others would follow and our leagues would be quality. Also, the premier league teams should be mandated to have academies. New and truly young talents are bred in such academies and no academy, no club registration |

The better team won today
Rohr tried his best with the players available to him
We shouldn't be quick to sack him but I think we need to get sound backup tactician.
Sacking him means starting from the scratch. New coach, new players, new team which takes years.
So far, Rohr hasn't done too badly.
Let us remember where we were before Rohr. We couldn't make back to back Nations cup tourneys. If at our first nations cup, we get to the Semi-finals, then that's saying a lot about how much the Super Eagles has transformed.
Although, I would've loved if we carried the day, this result helps us to realistically gauge our capabilities in football
Let's give Rohr some more time, I believe that the sky can only be our limit in future |

We better not concede penalties against Algeria because our keeper is very pooooorrrrrr and the Algerians know how to score.
We Ned to take our chances and try and bury this game within 70mins |

I said it that overdependence on Mane andane trying too hard will be their undoing.
As it is, Tunisia are hoping to push this game until the Senegalese loose concentration in the dying minutes or until its Penalty time.
The Senegalese are a better side but not clinical enough and the Tunisians will be more favored with a penalty.
This is how Tunisia snuck into the semifinals. |

Nedville: Oyo is your case.....
Maybe you think I'm hyping up Algeria or whatever. But as I have said repeatedly, oga boutabout said Nigeria doesn't have big name players. Im saying he probably assumes this because he doesn't know nigerian players as he thinks
I went further to say that what boutabout is doing is how most casuals look at a match and judge immediately once they see players they can recognise in one team....that such a team will beat the other with lesser known or unknown players. I also said that even his team is not that great but because he knows players in his team and he doesn't know those in ours, he is sure Algeria will win....I was looking at his mindset in how he arrived at this assumption
If you left this and started focusing on the 'epistle', it means you have time....and you should have gleaned from what I'm saying that boutabout is only being ignorant of the full picture Okay Goodluck |

Nedville: Obviously because I don't care who does
My point exactly....in case you got lost...was that some countries have more popular players than others....this is what makes others to believe that if a heavyweight meets a lesser country...the heavyweight will win most of the time
Whether the popular players are actually better than those from lesser countries....for example whether Jesse lingard is better than onyekuru, is anybody's guess...but many casuals will go with lingard to perform on the day ahead of onyekuru, because they know who lingard is and where he plays...as opposed to onyekuru
It is why we were labelled favourites against Madagascar....we had better players who are more popular
I said that I'm guessing that's what influenced boutabout to say what he said...because he knows his own players and doesn't really know ours
Whether Algerians oo or polish people know football more isn't really my concern...I'm only trying to establish a theory as to why boutabout feels confident of his nations chances due to the fact that according to him...Nigeria does not have 'big name' players Youre just writing epistles. The only big name player there is mahrez who isn't even a starter and Iwobi, Ndidi are big names. If Bout a bout (name purposely spelt that way) likes, let him hype his team, the truth will be revealed today. |

chrisooblog: let's not disrespect the algerians they're a good team it's not for nothing that they are unbeaten the only reason I'm really confident of Victory is because I feel we have the personnel to nullify them and score against them hopefully if we play a disciplined defensive game like we did against Guinea I don't see how the Algerian defence won't concede Nobody is disrespecting them but the hype is too much. Granted they have scored more and conceded less but I doubt they would've found it easy against Cameroon or SA |

Nedville: That's strange.... How do you know that?
Have you lived there?
Do you go from house to house in Warsaw...interviewing every family and asking whether they follow football or not?
Your insistence is vague....you can't say for sure whether an average Nigerian fan knows football more than an average polish fan....
But let's assume Nigerians actually know football more than polish fans....Nigeria is about to play a match with England in the world cup
We call random citizens from us Venezuela Honduras north Korea Canada Sweden...and we ask them to name players from england or Nigeria off hand....from which country will they name more? What ever your answer is...will it affect the interviewed person's opinion whether england will win or Nigeria will win?
If it does or doesn't, give yourself a huge round of applause
My question was never about who knew more between casual polish and Nigerian football fans Unless you have also gone house to house in Warsaw before I'll take you seriously |

Nedville: Mr man, I said casual..... not avid football players
Okay, let's call derdyck, an average male polish citizen and a casual football fan with wife and children who only watches football with friends and ask him to: Name 10 English internationals Name 10 Nigerian internationals From which country will he name more?
He is not English, but he will name more English players than Nigerian players....why is that?
Who mentioned anything about passionate Nigerian supporters? Or packed viewing centres?
Wonders never ended And I maintain that an average Nigerian fan knows more than an average Polish fan. Simple fact |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by darkelf: 12:53pm On Jul 14, 2019 |
Nedville: I mean polish fans who watch football know a lot of players from Spain england and Germany because of their leagues....they may not know all....but I'm sure they know of most....they watch the champions league too
The league itself and the clubs players play for in these 'elyte' leagues (no pun intended).....go a long way in deciding popularity....once a country who has them is facing a country who doesn't.....the latter will be seen as underdogs while the former will be seen as favourites...because they have more popular players
It may make people to likely assume that Eric Bailly or sol bamba is better than cheick komara or kanon, just because the former two play for man u and Cardiff respectively And I insist that you can't just conclude that an avid Polish football fan knows more than an avid Nigerian football fan. Please what are your criteria for coming to such conclusion? Because of the white skin? Or because they watch football there and we watch monkey post here? Have you not seen viewing centres here packed to the brim with passionate Nigerian fans who would give sports analyst a rub for their money? Or is it ghosts that watch Champions league in Nigeria? Wonders shall never end |

Nedville: Alright, substitute Poland with, England, Spain or Germany
Quality of the player is not what I'm debating, but popularity
Many of us can predict the starting line up of england and Spain before a world cup or euros....maybe even their second teams and bench....guess what...the polish can do so..
A number of popular players in a team always sways bookmakers into deciding who is favourite and who is not
While we know European players and our own players....we don't know players in other countries except the popular ones...bout about probably thinks the same
That is African football generally Really? Now I know you're just joking. If an average Nigerian fan cannot do so, the Polish sure as hell can't. |

CODE 8:11 Says:
Nigeria 2:1 Algeria. Nigeria should win IF AND ONLY IF, we convert our chances to goals. We can’t afford to miss many chances like what we’ve been doing. Algeria doesn’t really know how to prepare for us because of Chukwueze and Musa attacks coming from two ways. Our #10 must pair with Ighalo to score goals, because Ighalo alone will fumble against Algeria: he’s is too flat footed, and sluggish. Algeria are not that great. Let’s stop giving them unearned credits: they’ve been playing against poor Africans countries, that’s all. Algeria not like Argentina or Spain, not even Mexico! Respect Algeria, but no need to get panic. Lastly, Algerians know how to dive, we should be careful of penalties against us and we should notify the referee about their diving antics early on. Algeria can never play against us the way they played other countries: they’re aware of the danger. We can still intimidate them. And once you’re intimidated, you’ve already lost the battle. Up Super Eagles ! |
