tbaba1234: Egypt depends too much on Salah. Cut him off and they can't do much. That was their bane. So predictable team. Same strategy of 2017 SMH |

Jarus: I just closed from extra mural class in SS3 on my way home to watch the game (around my secondary school staff quarters) when I heard shout of first goal.
Before then, SA had a good tournament in 96 and 98 when Nigeria did not feature and there was a debate on whether they would have gone that far if Nigeria featured and they began to see themselves as Nigeria's rivals.
We returned in 2000 and we met in QF (or was it semi sef?) and that game settled the matter.
Admittedly, SA had very good players in that generation.
Cameroun is Nigeria's traditional rival although Ghana also see themselves as Nigeria's rival. We don't pay attention to them like we do to Cameroun.
Ghanaians take games against Nigeria personal. Even friendlies. See the way Thomas Partey was playing in that game between ATletico Madrid and Nigeria's Super Eagles B. Every game against Nigeria is personal to Ghanaians. It was a semi-final and Tijani babangida scored an early goal to unsettle them and then later scored the second |

My player ratings for NGA against CAM
Akpeyi: Looked Jittery as usual and his misjudgement of the ball in the air nearly caused us a goal in the first half. I still feel a better Keeper would have saved at least one of the two goals we conceded: 5/10
Troost-Ekong: For a Defender who has been quite solid in the past, Ekong has had an underwhelming tourney so far. His passing has been suspect, Had an average game today. 5/10
Omeruo: Didn't live up to expectations today. Could have done better against the cross that led to the first goal and was beaten in the air for the second. Made some blunders as well but looked quite solid in the second half.6/10
Awaziem: Was outpaced by the cameroonian wingers a lot of times but that doesn't jettison his nice cross which Musa chested to Ighalo for our second goal. 6/10
Aina; Was probably the most solid defender today but was out-muscled by a Jam-body Njie for the Second goal. Could also have done better with the shot he balloned way off target. 6/10
Etebo: Still don't understand why he takes our set-pieces but as usual displayed energy and worked hard to contain the rampaging Cameroonians in the middle. 7.5/10
Ndidi: Hard worker and tackler extraordinaire. Partnered well with Etebo in the middle and tried covering up at the flanks too. 7.5/10
Iwobi; Looked lost in the 1st half and seemed not to Jell with either Moses or Musa. But had a good game in the second half with a goal to cap it all.7/10
Musa: Really troubled the Cameroonian defense with his fast pace but lacked service in the first half. Nice assist in the second. 7.5/10
Moses Simon: Bereft of ideas in the final third and even the defensive prowess which he was equally known for was missing. 5/10
Ighalo: Proved critics wrong with his ball-holding, positioning and finishing. The Cameroonian defense had no answer for this Juggernaut. Deservedly the MOTM. 9/10
Chukwueze: Provided 3 clear cut chances and was the game changer for the team. Was double teamed each time he had the ball, a testament to his ability. We have a gem on our hands. 7/10
Onuachu: It can be argued that he cme relatively late but he lacked attacking intent the few times he got the ball and was out-muscled by the obviously more physical Cameroonian defenders. 4/10
Balogun: Came late but added a bit of stability to the defense. 4/10 |

safarigirl: Against the speed of the southies, we ought to start fast players like Chukwueze, I for say Onyekuru too, but make we manage Musa.
Ighalo is good to go as a forward, but Osimhen would be nice towards the end of the game. Yes as opposed to Onuachu I just have a feeling that we should start Onyekuru instead of Musa. I don't know why |

fabyom: We should not be complacent! This SA team is very good. However, this time around there won't be Gascammer to save them! Thank goodness we lost to Madagascar! Yes they are good But what I have learnt from this AFCON is that the way a team plays depends on their opponent For example, although Camerron had been playing poorly, they played well against us today. SA may not play same good football against NGA However, should we underrate them, we do so at our peril |

komekn: I watched and l found him to be OK but that's all.
His lack of pace for a RB or RWB add to that his limited technical ability leaves a lot to be desired. In the past two games he has-been the WEAKEST LINK.
Quality doesn't hide cream will always rise to the top. If he was exceptional then PSG and other clubs would have been fighting to sign him. But nobody in the end. na TURKEY he find himself.

To every d1ck and Harry knows we have conservative coach so what are you going to do about it? See in life what you don't have power over you let it go instead of romancing it everyday without no power Over it.
Like you said it is your opinion but I think you should be tired of repetition of "poor coach" everyday. Do you want the coach sacked at the middle of the tournament?
Then can you name any four impressive team in on going AFCON.? We just need to cut the coach some slacks.. We won today let us celebrate till it last. Okay |

Mujtahida: Criticism is different from perenially speaking out of darkness concerning the team. He's entitled to his opinion though. But sometimes I wonder why he's so afraid of life cos constantly believing, expecting and predicting negative things is nothing but a negation of life. If life constantly says no bro,we'd all be dead. Let darkelf learn to let in some light particularly as someone here said 'a little faith will do no harm'. I will reply you because of the fact that you passed your info without use of foul language I am an optimist. You don't know me in person to conclude alright This is a sports section and I am a fan who has a right to opinion like every other person. If also think every other person needs to learn to be realistic. People choose what they mention on this thread, hence the hypocrisy I said before the match that I hope Nigeria proves me wrong but I won't be banking on it because we have a poor coach and ther has been no signs of improvement from our games We are created differently and we will always look at things differently. Its not my fault that some people can't understand the meaning of the word "opinion" |

I predicted an emphatic Egypt win today but with what I have seen so far, anything can happen And I know a lot of folks here prefer we face SA in the next stage for 2 reason: 1 So we can beat them for bragging rights. If this doesn't happen, then Naija should just hide face from SA 2 So that we won't have to face the host nation |
