PhonesRe: Why It's That Nobody Care's About LG Smartphone. by DarkLover: 3:11pm On Mar 16, 2018
They're less popular brand here, IPhones' and Samsungs' reign supreme here. Average Nigerian will choose Tecno/Infinix over LG phones.

I think marketing played a huge role here, LG marketing teams are doing poor job making their brand well known in Nigeria.

Maybe his wish should be served, but in the most painful way imaginable, not through hanging.

@Op there are many threads like this already with some many arguments for or against, what's your aim with this?

@alphacyborg, the ability or inability to speak English isn't a yardstick for anything, I personally would prefer my mother's tongue over any other language, even if you don't understand it, I'll still try to coerced into understanding it. There are many illiterate English speakers here in Nigeria. Be proud of your language always.

Why did you go thru her messages....Bad habit undecided

It's natural to be curious about what your girlfriend is up to but privacy in a relationship is very important but if you suspect something is up,its fine to ask your girlfriend about it instead of going thru her messages or better still take permission from her before reading her messages

I don't see myself being in a relationship with someone that doesn't trust me or someone that feels i have something to do with other guys all the time

You strike me like a very weak guy plus you are so untrustworthy...Deal with the outcome of your actions...I care less
You sounds like an ex of mine, her reasoning faculty ended the relationship. Sorry, but you sounds so annoying and unreasonable.

Sorry for the heartbreak bro, move on with your life.
CrimeRe: Fulani Herdsmen Attack Eche Ikwo In Ebonyi State, Kill Many (Graphic) by DarkLover: 10:38am On Mar 07, 2018
I'm officially tired of being a Nigeria, this killings are way too much yet the federal government are doing little about it, it's definitely a crime being a Nigeria. A country where life is worthless and the government are useless.

May the dead find solaces in the other side and the livings find peace on earth.

PoliticsRe: Why Do Nairalanders Refers To The Akoko-edos As Yoruba? by DarkLover:
Historyworld031 I'm not trying to spite you, also I'm not trying to elevate Ooni or reduce the influence or Power of Oba Ewuare II, I'm just trynna be objective with the documented facts and history and not fairy-tale like you called it, the point I raised you intentionally disregarded them and resulted to an awful part of argument.

Nice to know that you've got a masters from France in Maths, probably you might have some thoughtful reasoning than me like you said, its still in doubt thoughsmiley.

On 20th of October, 2016 after the presentation of his staff of Office to him, Oba Ewuare II himself made some remarks about the 'fairy tale' Oranmiyan, please look that up. Me and you can't know the 'actual history' more than him.
I hope you know that the Ataru of Auchi is an Edo
duke who converted to islam after the british had
defeated the Benin Kingdom ?
This got me laughing, you know little about Auchi bro!

Last question, what's the source of your claims? if the oral or written evidences are fairy tale?? or you were there 500 years back?
CultureRe: DNA Match/ Ekiti State by DarkLover: 12:56am On Jan 12, 2018
Hello man, nice to know that your DNA is 85% Africa, having a distant cousin who put the call true to you, we might rightly assumed you a Nigerian, but you could be any of Igbo, Bini, Ijaw, Yoruba or any minority tribe in the rainforest belts.

Yoruba culture is so sweet and diverse, you'll just gotta love the language and our ways of life. You can visit YouTube and search for each distinct culture that ranges from greetings to music, our history, markets, and most especially watch Yoruba films with subtitles on YouTube, both the ones set in modern and old times. It encompasses our culture.

Hope you'll come down here as an educator/instructor sometimes in future?
PoliticsRe: Why Do Nairalanders Refers To The Akoko-edos As Yoruba? by DarkLover: 12:05am On Jan 12, 2018
historyworld031:
My friend, the title of the Edo king is: Omo n'Oba n'Edo.
And he is the only king of all the Edo and the Benin Kingdom which comprises the entire Edo state and goes beyond.
The other traditional rulers whom you are talking about are dukes and chiefs who report to Omo n'Oba n'Edo.
I am well versed in actual history (not the usual nigerian fairytales) and that is why I claimed that the yorubas copied that title.
Truth must be spoken. No shame in this.
Also the name of my tribe is Edo, I am Edo and so are Akoko-Edo.
Once again, the word bini doesn't exist in my language, only the word Edo which refers to the people of the Benin kingdom.
I didn't go through your history to be sure that I'm not trynna argue with a kid that won't learn, but I hope that you'll be matured enough to learn, likewise me. No offense is meant please.

Having said that, Omo N'Oba N'Edo is the King of Bini kingdom like you've rightly said, but the Benin kingdom you're talking about only covers fractions of current Edo state. In other areas they have their respective kings too, I'm sure you won't call Otaru of Auchi a mere duke.

To the second point you raised, Oranmiyan from Ife gave the Bini their first Oba( Oba Eweka) and Oranmiyan came down from Ife where the title has been in used- you had the Obatala, Obalufon etc so the title was not copied by the Yoruba.

Like I've said Edo is an ethnic group in Benin state and they don't occupied everywhere, you have the Etsakos Esans, Owans, Akokos etc

You might have a little disdain for the word Bini because of its origin, but believe the word will outlive us and will still refers to Edo people. Mind you there's different between Edo people and Edo state as well as between. Benin state is coined out of the word and Bini is anglicised Benin.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Nairalanders Refers To The Akoko-edos As Yoruba? by DarkLover: 11:23pm On Jan 11, 2018
To the one of the posters you sounds more like a Bini/Edo man rather than an Akoko-edo, Akoko-edo is one of the four major ethnic group in Edo state, although being the smallest, you wouldn't have erroneously referred to whole of Edo state as Edo and Omo n'oba as the soul ruler. There are other traditional rulers scattered all over the state.

Although the Binis/Edos are the majority, the influence of Oba Ewuare only spans through 7LGAs amongst many others.

Lastly you committed another blunder by saying the Yoruba copied the title 'Oba' from the Binis, in good heart, go and study the history of the past rulers of Bini and also check out that of Ile Ife dynasty.
