Music/RadioRe: H Man Ft Mi - Thank U (official Video) by dasa: 1:31am On Apr 20, 2009
The topic of the song wasnt very clear. i tot it was bout God then i started hearing babe lyrics then God again.

M.I. was nice. best scenes are the choir and M.I.'s entrance

I dont feel H man but whoever is backing him is really SPENDING MONEY. that 3 minutes cost 1mil plus.
Music/RadioRe: Wande Coals Album Is Too Bad by dasa(op): 1:01am On Apr 20, 2009
i think he is more talented than Dbanj. but dbanj got more attidude and swagger. dbanj makes really good music, but i think his selling point is his personality.
wande's voice is just great. his lyrics are really good. no repititions. every song fresh talk(unlike, ). there is something to listen to.

Great job.
Music/RadioRe: Which Radio Is Best For Put Some Ads by dasa: 7:13pm On Apr 18, 2009
@MOELLIOTT , nicely said. you understand marketing.

@crushing. radio is not likely to reach your target market. the people that need such machines read newspapers and watch NTA news(national network news).

i suggest you do any or all of the following.

1) advertise on NTA national network news. you can contact the NTA thru NTA plus

+234-80-33148855 I.K. ONOBU
+234-80-36784575 LAWAL JAMIL
+234-80-33173233 SARAH ARUM
+234-80-33385158 JOY O.
+234-80-33048234 APPOLONIA N.
+234-80-37881454 EYO N.
www.ntaplus.com

2) use a national daily newspaper, get their contacts from thier websites

http://www.vanguardngr.com/
http://punchng.com/
www.ngrguardiannews.com
http://www.thisdayonline.com

3) write construction companies. i like this option because your product is not mass market. so hit the target directly.
send your product brochure and any other relevant information directly to construction companies by courier.

Get their contacts by doing a search on google.com with the keyword 'nigerian construction companies'
select the result from nigeriagalleria.com

you'll see a long list. send to all of them.

i suggest that you also offer them resellers status  so they do the extra legwork for you incase they cant buy.

this option will be cheaper, and i think more effective.

post on this thread if you need more help.

Thanks for your interest in Nigeria(Good People, Great Nation). I wish you the best of luck.

@lalaboi,
the work has copyright restrictions and u are encouraging free download here. we all like free stuff, me too grin. but this is the attidude that makes it impossible for piracy to end in naija. the marketer paid them for distibution rights oh. make im make im money back abeg. allow sometime atleast. afterall the cd is just N100.

you are part of the management team of this site oh. you have a big responsibilty oh. if you have permission to distribute then give it out for download.

it aint like i dont know wats up, but wats illegal is illegal. sad
Music/RadioRe: Nigerian Immigration Service Deports Dan Foster, Top Radio Presenter by dasa: 7:49pm On Apr 17, 2009
Immigration should deport all those people crossing on foot from Niger republic too. silly eye-service people.

we have rules. so his deportation is right. he should re-apply and come back sha.

I heard that cool fm was very mad when he left as he has a large followership and a large chunk of thier audience tuned to inspiration.

Its possible that they arranged it sha.

my prediction. he'll be back soon, and a horde of listeners will tune to inspiration in solidarity.

what dont break u, makes u.
Music/RadioRe: Wande Coals Album Is Too Bad by dasa(op): 7:26pm On Apr 17, 2009
the album is available on the streets. Just ask ur local cd guy.

I think its great sha. it has.
Good Beats, good topics, great lyrics(there is something to listen to), very good vocals.

It will appeal the ghettos and the butter areas.

Its a 90% from me. Nicely done.

Mo money for mohits.

my broda, u are shifting from the topic.

The topic is of the thread is
How To Make Your Song Popular without beggin radio dj's

the focus is getting your stuff heard. not being a successful musician.
its just getting it heard. let the quality make u successful.
my focus is on publicity that an artist can do themselves without the media.

do you have bright ideas that can help artistes cheaply but effectively get people playing there songs?
Music/RadioRe: How To Make Your Song Popular without beggin radio dj's by dasa(op): 5:28pm On Apr 11, 2009
bro, i didnt mean to dismiss dem. i just reacted to your post.

i started this thread in response to one posted here about dj's taking bribe.

and about the lack of talent, i agree. but dont write off anyone. the market will suprise u.
u cant fully understand demand.

a very bad singer can pick a good topic and get a good beat and he'll be hot.

popularity brings demand. demands brings shows. shows bring money.

i know guys who organize there own shows and collect gate fee since there songs are a bit popular. u wont know they organized it themselves.

anyway. there are different wat to go about it.
Music/RadioRe: How To Make Your Song Popular without beggin radio dj's by dasa(op): 4:47pm On Apr 11, 2009
@elrazur, by the way, your focus is hiphop only. i am talking about music that nigerians really buy. apart from a few new hiphop acts, hiphop in naija was dead, (in sales.) people will rather copy than buy. show promoter hardly call rappers for shows, cuz the crowd they move do not attend shows.
Music/RadioRe: How To Make Your Song Popular without beggin radio dj's by dasa(op): 4:43pm On Apr 11, 2009
@elrazur.

i didnt say one should not go online. i only said it is a wide topic. and i will address it. one thing at a time. i read your post.
its theory. i am talking practicals, direct result. i like the part of getting into contests,
the rest does not directly make ur song known.

the internet is important. dont get me wrong.
many popular nigerian artists dont have websites.
even if they do, how many times have u visited.

u cant use yankee ideas straight and expect it to work here. u have to customize.

i helped make the popularity plan for cure my craze by frank d'nero. i am sure u know the song. there was no cash for a video at the time so we had to think.

i am pushing a few songs now.

i will adress the web issue later when i talk about branding yourself.

i am trying to give people on a slim budget ideas that will work immediately. i believe in street knowledge.

i wish we cud both hav a competeion. two brand new tracks. first to make his own popular. then u'll see what i am talking about.
Music/RadioRe: How To Make Your Song Popular without beggin radio dj's by dasa(op): 3:50pm On Apr 11, 2009
@tosinaded.

cool. i didnt add the internet, cuz dats a wide topic. i am still gathering info. the people on the streets hardly go online. so for this one, the focus is the streets.

Music/RadioHow To Make Your Song Popular without beggin radio dj's by dasa(op): 12:58pm On Apr 11, 2009
hello guys, i wish to share a bit of information on the methods i’ve used to promote music without radio.

Firstly, please, I beg you, make a good song. Whatever the genre is. It should be good. Else you’ll sweat for nothing. Be professional about your work.
If you cant write, get someone who can to write for you. If you cant produce, get a good producer. No mater how, make great music.

NOW TO PROMOTING YOUR SONG.

Some songs are popular on radio, with no street appeal. Others are popular on the streets with no radio appeal. Some artists achieve both for there songs.

I will focus on making it popular on the streets.
if u have street jams, then u can push it using these methods.

MAKE AND DISTRIBUTE YOUR OWN MIX CD:

Meet a dj and make a mix cd with your song or songs at the beginning, middle and end. Make sure the cd is hot, with all the popular jams on it. Let the dj play the instrumental and mix the accapella on a popular instrumental.
Make the song noticeable on the cd, but don’t over do it.

When u have you custom mix, these are the places to distribute.

Share your city into areas. Locate the joints and restaurants in each area. Do not discriminate. Even very local ones can help.
Give dem the mix cd to play in their joint. They’ll even thank you.

Do this gradually if you don’t have the cash or time to distribute it all at once.
Also target motor parks and commercial bus drivers,
Cybercafés are also good. Just think of place where people gather and spend time.

The impact is this. Someone goes to one joint, hears the song, he goes the next, the same song. In his mind, that song must be in. once people start asking questions about it. Then the move is successful

love-vendor YOUR PHONE DISTRIBUTION.

Meet those guys that transfer stuff to phones, give them your cd. I don’t think they’ll charge you. If you can get them to give out your song to their customers free as bonus for purchase, then that’s great. People are not likely to pay for a song they don’t know. So push for that.
When people are able to have it for themselves, they’ll listen over and over again and give it to friends.

GET YOUR TRACK INTO AN ALABA MIX.

The most effective none mass media way to push your song are those mix cd’s. You wont believe the reach they have.

A lot of people will tell you they can do it for you for a fee. Most cant! They just want money.
No matter who, you should be ready to pay some money. It’s a better investment than paying radio dj’s who will play it twice and ask for more money.

Ask someone who has done it how they did and who they went thru.
If you do this, before you know someone will be playing your song in sokoto.

Its an extremely effective form of promo.

I hope i said something you don’t already know. I will add more soon.

When you set out to promote your music, don't try to cover too much ground at once.
You will be overwhelmed. Take it step by step. I will post more ideas on this soon

Altimately, radio, gives you great push and endorsement. if you have the budget for it. spend. but spend wisely.

GOT IDEAS? PLEASE SHARE.

i will write one on how to brand yourself as an artiste soon.

Good luck.
Music/RadioRe: Naija Djs And Their Shameful Demands For Bribes! by dasa: 11:53am On Apr 11, 2009
I LOVE THIS THREAD. FINALLY THIS ISSUE IS BEING TALKED ABOUT.

These hungry dj's and presenters are so annoying. i asked a dj why he demanded cash, he said when the artist is big they wont remember them. so they have to gain now.

different people have different reasons for taking cash. i think its wrong sha.

ADVICE TO ARTIST. if ur song is good, even if you pay at first, u wont keep paying as the dj's will come to love it and the crowd will demand it.

i am writing a short article on how to promo your music with beggging radio dj's. i will post it shortly.

RomanceRe: I Have Problem Dealing With My Wife's Past Relationship by dasa: 4:42am On Apr 06, 2009
you have to be a man. She deos not respect you. Firmly tell her not to repeat such talk. I wont support hitting her. That is wrong. Use different ways to push ur point. U also hav to take the hint. She just let u know how she feels.

my brother, u r doing something wrong. How can ur wife talk to u wit such disrespect. Maybe, u r too available physically and emotionally. She sees that u r too in luv so she knows she can do anything and get away with it. Scarcity enhances value. Be a bit scarce.

I believe u know wat to do.

an incident during the video shoot (area hommies) caused it to stop, and it was never continued.
those saying he is broke. are u guys in his pocket? for every 7 shows he attends, only one is well publized. so even when u do not know, he has shows.
the glo stuff gave him some good cash recently. he(9ice) and psquare replaced dbanj in the line up. that was about several shows. imgaine wat he got.
