Foreign Affairs / Re: UK Bans China's Huawei From Its 5G Network, Hands US Big win by dashpee: 9:12am On Jul 15, 2020
Originality007:
The UK approves the phased removal of the Chinese telecoms giant from its 5G network despite warnings from Beijing.

The United Kingdom has bowed to US pressure and approved the phased removal of Chinese telecoms giant Huawei from its 5G network despite warnings of retaliation from Beijing.

Tuesday's policy reversal handed a significant victory to US President Donald Trump's administration in its geopolitical and trade battle with China.

But it threatens to further damage the UK's relations with the Asian power and carries a big cost for UK mobile providers that have relied on Huawei equipment for nearly 20 years.

Oliver Dowden, the UK's digital secretary, announced the move in Parliament on Tuesday after Prime Minister Boris Johnson chaired meetings with his Cabinet and the National Security Council.
"From the end of this year, telecoms providers must not buy any 5G equipment from Huawei," he told MPs.

The new guidelines also require all existing Huawei

Huawei had been reportedly pushing for the full ban to be delayed till after the UK's next general election, scheduled to take place in 2024, that could potentially bring a new government to power with a more sympathetic approach.

Huawei's reaction
"This disappointing decision is bad news for anyone in the UK with a mobile phone. It threatens to move Britain into the digital slow lane, push up bills and deepen the digital divide. Instead of 'levelling up' the government is levelling down and we urge them to reconsider," Huawei said after the announcement of the ban.

"Regrettably our future in the UK has become politicised, this is about US trade policy and not security."

Johnson angered Trump and upset some members of his own Conservative party by allowing the Chinese 5G leader to help roll out the UK's speedy new data network in January.

The UK was then completing its departure from the European Union and looking to establish strong ties with powerful Asian economies that could fulfil Johnson's vision of a "global Britain".

But the Trump administration told the UK government that its decision imperilled intelligence sharing and could even result in the relocation of some US fighter jets from England.

US stance

Washington believes the private Chinese company could either spy for Beijing or shut down rival countries' 5G networks in times of war.

Huawei has always denied this and pointed to 20 years of cooperation with British security agencies that checked on the safety of its existing 3G and 4G networks.

The British review was triggered by new US sanctions in May that blocked Huawei's access to US chips and semiconductors at the heart of 5G networks.

The restriction raised the possibility of Huawei having to switch from trusted US suppliers to alternatives whose safety could not be guaranteed by UK security agencies.

Romance / Re: Should I Block And Blacklist Her? by dashpee: 9:09am On Jul 15, 2020
vybzkartel:
I proposed love to her though knowing that she had a guy
Wanted to marry her but she said she will think about it. Later she said No so I moved on.

I decided to avoid her totally since I wanted the feeling I had for her to die since I couldn't get her...I wouldn't call nor message for about a month and then she would either call or message me. This cycle has gone on for about three years. Anytime I decide to forget her, she will call or message asking why I don't call and bla bla. When she does that and I decide to call or message her, she would give excuses and hang up or quit chats.

When I shun her, she will find her way back to call me or message me. Should I blacklist her and block her on messenger?

If she doesn't love me and can't date me, why can't she let me be? Please advise
Don't blacklist her, play along and get a decent lady and when you are together when she call, just give the phone to your new found lady to answer the call

SCAM ALERT! Keyamo's Poverty Generating Jobs and the Fight for the Poor

These days I just like to face my front. I just watch boxing, listen to reggae music, watch Uncle Steve Harvey and Drew Binsky, play cards with my children, trim flowers, gossip on WhatsApp, and calculate when my money will finish since I have not worked for 4 months. I avoid the news. It's all Edo and Covid out there. But I don't live on fantasy Island, so I know that things are not well with my country.

No ruder reminder of this than the rofo-rofo between Festus Keyamo and the joint committee of the national assembly yesterday to jack me back to reality!

So, about what happened: in my opinion, the most important question should have been: "why do we want to employ 774,000 people and then pay them N20,000 monthly for only 3 months to clear gutters, control traffic, and then throw them back into the joblessness?" We are not even asking, "where are the gutters in most LGAs when there is no road," "which traffic do you need 1000 young men to control, when some of the LGAs don't have up to 1,000 cars"? We are also not asking, "where has this model worked before?" Economics is about models.

Those were not the questions that the honourable members were asking. But in fairness to them they asked him some very important questions:

1. Why were 8 ministries involved in the process, yet it was his ministry that dominated everything, including, and especially, the recruitment? Where do the other ministries come in?

2. How do you intend to measure the success of the intervention? What are the key performance indicators? In other words, after spending about N50,000,000,000 on this project, how would you measure your success?

He provided no answers, then he became confrontational when the Chairman of the committee asked journalists to leave so they can have a closed door session with him. We all know that this procedure is not strange. The NASS always does this. Even the executive. Even in village meeting, there is a closed session. Going behind closed doors is a part of our democratic culture and socialization. It doesn't mean that someone is trying to hide corruption.

Keyamo assumed that the NASS members wanted to hijack the process. Maybe it's true, we don't know. But you can clearly see that he was comfortable hijacking the process himself. He even said "15% of the slots had been reserved for NASS members so what else do they want," trying to make them look like greedy crooks. Clearly, he was playing to the gallery.

When Keyamo is negotiating with labour unions like JOHESU, NARD, TUC, ASUU, we all know that they go into an executive/closed session. Does it mean anyone is trying to hide corruption? Why was he suddenly averse to a closed session now? Even the weekly FEC meetings chaired by the President are closed to the public.

Three truths: Festus behaved like a badly brought up 5 year old yesterday. There was nothing distinguished about his comportment, his composure, his language. Second he was clearly playing to the gallery. He was keen on winning a popularity contest against the not-so-popular members of the national assembly. Maybe he misses the days when he was a defender of truth and right, and he wanted a feel of those days again. Maybe. But you can't run with the hares and hunt with the hounds. Third truth, our government has still not found a solution to the poverty question. They are still throwing money at problems, happy that they have made an effort, not caring if the effort can yield fruit.

Finally, to give a fair warning: don't let yourself be scammed by this 774,000 jobs business. It is a badly conceived gimmick by people who have no clue how poverty is reduced. Don't let yourself be scammed by Festus' theatrics. There is nothing righteous about his indignation. If my 4 year old daughter throws a tantrum like that, she will be grounded - no Disney Junior for one week. Don't let yourself be scammed: the show he put up had nothing to do with protecting the liberties of 774,000 poor people from the ravenous appetite of selfish legislators.

I've been in a very serious relationship with an Igbo guy. He's nice, handsome and we've been dating for 2 years. He talked about me meeting his family and I was very excited little did I know that it would turn out to be my worse nightmare.

I met his mum and she seemed really nice, but her attitude changed when she realized I'm a Yoruba girl. She immediately told me to my face that I can't marry her son. Her reasons weren't clearly stated but she said she doesn't like the Yoruba people. My heart melted, hot tears rolled down from my eyes; I'm Yoruba and I'm in love with an Igbo "mummy's boy".

I spoke with him about it and he keeps assuring me that it would be fine. It's been almost 2 years now and the family are still not in support of our union. Every time I try to move on he comes begging that everything would be fine and that we will get married. I really love this guy, why I love him I don't know because clearly he hasn't done anything to deserve my heart but... He doesn't have a good paying job yet, so I carter for most of his financial needs and even send some food to his village during festivity.

Just recently his mother called my parents to tell them that I can't get married to her son and asked that I should be warned to stay off her son.

He has travelled to his village for a week now and honestly I don't know where I stand... I really love him but what do I do?
quit and get someone that loves everything about you, because marriage is life, better a broken relationship...be warned

Men discriminate some ladies because of their body sizes. They believe fat ladies are not beautiful or attractive. Some even go far to mock it abuse them and reduce their self esteem. This is totally wrong and shouldn't be encouraged. Below are 2 reasons Men should stop abusing fat ladies.

1) These ladies might have acquired such body from their parents because such thing can be genetic or hereditary. So, it is not their fault that they are big or fat rather you should blame nature for making them to be that big.

2) Regardless of their sizes, most fat ladies have good manners and are very lively more than some normal ladies. They are often cheerful and accommodate almost everybody that comes their way. So, if you are a man and you want to have a happy relationship then dating a fat lady could possibly be the best for you.

Kindly follow my page here for interesting updates and also leave a comment below based on the topic being discussed.

Olayinka8793:
Good day wonderful people, hope we are all doing fine?
I will go straight to the point.
I recently started dating this girl over one month ago and l sincerely loved her and intend to marry her anytime soon. It is not like l just met her or something, l have a saloon shop and she happens to live down the street my shop is located. In fact her elder brother is a close friend of mine and he always come to my salon to gist, charge his phone or just relax every night after work. So I have known her for a few years but just decided to start dating her a month ago.
I happen to be a deaf guy, as in l have permanently lost my hearing in both ears (it happens through a silly accident since when I was a child and all medical and spiritual efforts towards healing failed). I will appreciate if you will ignore my deafness and focus on giving me the advise l sought.
I have been totally focused on my salon business since inception, I mean l deliberately refused to have a girlfriend all this while until recently when I started thinking of marriage thought l do flow well with several girls on the street but never went beyond being just friends to them.
Now, this girl loves me and l so much loved her in return, I considered her too young for me (she will be 18 and legally an adult in September while I am presently 26) l made her understand from the onset that I intend to marry her but have no intention of rushing her into it now until she is at least 19 years old but she object to the marriage talk, saying she is afraid of her parents and that she still want to further her education (she is still in SS2). I considered dating for more than a year as a waste of time and resources.
Truth to God, my intention was to impregnate her when she is 19 years of age, every single senior person in my family, including my parents and uncles and aunts are more than ready to show solidarity by following me to her parents house to take responsibility for the pregnancy and officially ask for her hand in marriage to me. Then I intend to set her up in good business after her delivery. l honestly have no intention of sponsoring her education further as she isn't that brilliant judging by her level of literacy when chatting with me and l am too cautious of dating a student not to talk of marrying one.
I made her understand that she will never regret going into a business and that there is no guarantee that she will find a job easily after school due to the fact that this is Nigeria.
Although I am still living with my dad, but I have my own house almost completed, and l have decide that I will move in only after l might have had a child with my wife to start my family.
Of course I approached some of the other girls l consider as wife materials but their shakara and unseriousness is beyond my patience.
Now, this girl has started coming regularly to my shop whenever she get the chance, like when she is on errand for her mum and we usually chat for few minutes due to time constraints and her mum being strict and not allowing her any movement beyond 9pm at night.
I will appreciate suggestions on how l could squeeze out quality discussion out of the usually few minutes she came to see me because I am so new to this dating and relationship stuff ( l communicate by lip reading and l don't use or understand sign language and she is understanding in that aspect)
Her brother who is my good friend is very much aware of our relationship but there is very little he could do to enable us have a long free time together as the strictness of their mum include him too ( their dad doesn't live with them for reasons I am yet to know)
The love l have for her made me started showing her with gifts like footwears and l am about to buy her a small android phone so we can be chatting regularly.
Now l am not too sure if things will go about as l envisaged and we will eventually get married in two years time, or l might just be wasting my time due to her young age and strict mum.
I see myself getting married in two years time and l believe now is the right time knowing a girl well before thinking of marrying her and l am someone who has very little patience for the other girls doing excess shakara.
Your opinions, suggestions and advises will be appreciated.

... good morning my friend, you didn't tell us how old are you.. marrying an 20 years old lady will be really terrible for you, until I get your age, I reserve my comments for now
