sjeezy8: No doubt i was in class and my prof asked what are the problems in Nigeria caused by.
This ignorant Igbo girl opened her dirty mouth and was like " man its dem yorubas"(not knowing the teacher lived in Nigeria). Its 5 Nigerians in the class 3 Yorubas 1 edo and the igbo gal. The expression on everyones face was like what the hell is the fool yarning about. The teacher (black american) said he lived in Nigeria for 15 years from the 80's to early 90's, he lamented "How can a yorubas be the cause of Nigerias woes when there has only be 1 Yoruba presidency OBJ". He further gave accounts where prominent yoruba leaders were assassinated when ever they opposed military regimes. He also added how can any ethnic group cause the problem in Nigeria when everyone is governing their state of origin(it doesnt get any more equal then that). He said imagine if yorubas werent in Nigeria, who would be an actual formidable opposition? because so far many if not all of the people assassinated in Nigeria were of Yoruba ethnicity not to mention the Soyinkas and co, who dont only defend their tribe but the interest of all Nigerians.
While everyone was being quiet in Nigeria( if they didnt run away) its no doubt the leaders of yoruba ethnicity have been at the forefront of opposition in terms of Nigerias interest.
anyway how you see it, if someone is mentions Nigeria in a negative way its a yoruba like Obj(the SAME person flogged over and over again) but if someone talks about Nigeria in a positive way its Fela,Soyinka,Fashola and co, I cant think of any other tribe who has defended the interest or recognized the work of others besides their own.
No doubt others may leave Nigeria or Africa and make a name for themselves but when the words Africa or Nigeria comes to mind Soyinkas and Felas ARE NEVER LEFT OUT. I dont have time to blame poblems in the West on people from the North, East or South South, it just doesnt make sense. smh Tales of the moon light |

Nuzo': I feel disappointed today...so disappointed that tears rolled down my eyes!
But before I tell you guys the reasons for my disappointment, I will give you a little insight on my candid observation on the Nigerian polity.
Since when I became very active on this forum in early 2007, I've tried as much as I can to be very objective in my views, analysis and assessments regarding issues raised here...especially Nigerian politics, ethnicity and religion.
I've tried to maintain that "objectivity" till date. But I must confess I was shocked the way president Jonathan was treated when his predecessor; pres Yaradua fell sick and eventually died. Since then, the politics of ethnicity and religion became the order of the day.
Buhari established that line of politics by avoiding south east and south south zones during his presidential campaigns with the exception of Port Harcourt. He also went further to ask that muslim vote muslim while other adherents should do same for their respective brethren. He also enjoys keeping quiet or as some people would say he sympathizes with religious murdering fanatics.
Don't get me wrong, I know this sentimental politics didn't start with Buhari...but its very clear he established it. It was even evident during his era as head of state.
Nuhu Ribadu is not a perfect guy, but he seems to be my best choice among all the line up of all the so-called leaders...including GEJ, Akpabio, Tinubu, Fashola, Chime and Buhari. He beats them any day in my book. Problem is that Ribadu is not salable to the gullible and corrupt Nigerian populace for obvious reasons. And that makes me pitch my tent to the easier devil to deal with....Goodluck Jonathan!
Recently, there's been so much talk about Ms Oduah; the aviation minister. I feel very indifferent or should I say comfused about her persecution in the media mostly by a section of people and the other section in her defence. Its an outright disregard for due process, ethics and respect for Nigerians and her office to approve such a huge amount of money for 2 units of bulletproof vehicles. Its a clear case of fraud! Now, they can't even find the receipts for the purchase.
On the other side, they are worried there's NO much talk about the money the Governor of Lagos state spent in purchasing the same unit of vehicle for twice the amount Oduo used. This section even argued that her predecessors; especially Fani Kayode was never harassed even after about 20 billion Naira aviation fund disappeared into thin air. They went further to argue that she's been hunted for stopping some illegal deals in the industry, refurbishing the airports and upgrading the Enugu airport to international status.
These 2 groups have valid arguments but I think its about time GEJ relieve her of her duty and allow her to be properly prosecuted! She's not as innocent as we think.
Now, as I said in my first statement, I felt so disappointed after using the international airport today. It was a complete mess!
I've been opportune to travel through local and international airports in China, Hong Kong, Qatar, UAE and Australia so I know first hand what its like to have a quality and lasting structure. I'm sure Odua has been to these places and more.
For the fact that most Nigerians are okay with mediocrity or just about average, I won't compare these airports to what I saw in Enugu today, rather I would soft pedal by comparing the Enugu airport to the streets in these countries. Unfortunately, it still doesn't come close.
Enugu international airport has come to stay...but the rehabilitated structure is a sham, a ponzi scheme and a BIG FRAUD! The quality of materials (interlocking, slabs, chairs, windows, glass and restrooms) and quality of finishing were all shabby, substandard and unprofessional! It will all fall apart in the next 1 year. I give it 6 months without maintainance.
Its clear the opposition are very good in hijacking issues like this and using it for their political gains...but Nigerians must learn to draw the lines. Odua is a big time fraud and must GO!
Igbo women are arguably the most hard working and least corrupt group of Nigerians but Odua is one in a hundred that keeps pulling this group backward. It pains me when reasonable people end up with wrong conclusions, because they used the wrong set of logics in their reasoning. ODUA must STAY |

Pan Yoruba youth group, the National Committee of Yoruba Youths (NCYY), has commended the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Odua, for the giant strides and array of accomplishments of the Aviation ministry under her watch. The group also reiterated its support to the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. A statement signed by Hon. Oladimeji Odeyemi and Alli Bello Bashiru, NCYY’s president and national publicity secretary, respectively, noted that for the first time in 30 years , the nation’s aviation sector is wearing a new look with the scaling up efficient service delivery and 21st century modernization. The statement said: “The array of accomplishments that the Aviation Ministry is hauling into its kitty, is a testimony of a determined, focused and inspiring leadership style of the Minister, Princess Oduah which she has deployed in large measure, to turn the aviation ministry around. “In her (Odua) quest to put Nigeria first, the Minister ensured that airline passengers are not excessively taxed or exploited by agencies, airlines or those who are into bilateral agreement with the Aviation Ministry. “The various achievements of Princess Stella Odua include the simultaneous reconstruction and remodeling of eleven airports fitted with modern equipment, manpower and machineries. GAT, Lagos, Benin, Enugu, Kano, among others, have already been commissioned and in use. “She has equally secured approval for the construction of five brand new international terminals including cargo terminals and plans have reached advanced stage, to float a new national carrier that will be completely private sector–driven. “Through this medium, we advice some of our leaders who are being used by some former concessionaires who took pleasure in exploiting the travelling public, that the issue of the Aviation sector is beyond ethnicity or religion.” The group passed a vote of confidence on the Minister and urged all Nigerians to support her in transforming the sector, even as it reaffirmed the support of its leadership, to the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. PapaBrowne: Go and read the Kano state gov's threat to Stella oduah today.
Read through the posts of many nairalanders from a particular section of the country concerning Enugu international airport.
Go and read an article on how internationalization of Enugu airport would kill the aviation industry written by a purported aviation expert from a certain part of the country.
Ask yourself why the attacks on Stella even before the BMW scandal was extremely high and increased immensely after Ethiopian airlines touched ground in Enugu.
Ask yourself why the BMW scandal of is so loud despite the minute figure in comparison to say the pension fund scandal or even the fuel subsidy scandal that ran into trillions or sanusi's university donations running in billions that vanished. Funnily Amaechi bought a jet worth $50m. Fashola bought bullet proof vehicles worth 600 million naira. Noboby complains in all these crazy cases. Infact, if this happened b4 Enugu airport, nobody would have complained.
Lets not deceive ourselves. I previously used to assume South eastern complaints about hatred from the west was exaggerated. But after this incident, I have concluded that there is a real war against south east and south south progress by the previous blocs that held the ante of power and have now lost it to the previously marginalized who ae now lords of the manor.
And by the way, I'm not Igbo. I am from edo state. Let me quote you sharply cus I know some cabal here on NL can easily disappear your good thought |

Bomb in mosque kills Afghan governor Last updated 39 minute ago The governor of Afghanistan's Logar province has been killed in a blast in a mosque, during prayers for the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha. Arsala Jamal was standing at the front of the mosque greeting worshippers when a bomb hidden under a table detonated. At least 15 people were injured, and several are said to be in a critical condition, Mr Jamal's spokesman said. Logar is south of the capital, Kabul, and the Taliban increasingly control much of the countryside. The attack took place at Logar's main mosque in the provincial capital of Pul-i-Alam, said spokesman Din Mohammed Darwesh. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Increasingly lawless Mr Jamal was appointed as governor in April after returning to Afghanistan from Canada. Previously he was governor of another eastern province, Khost. He was an expert in rural development, who had worked for foreign NGOs before being appointed to government positions. The attack comes just days after the arrest of senior Pakistan Taliban commander, Latif Mehsud, by US forces. He was said to be a confidante of the Pakistani Taliban leader, Hakimullah Mehsud. Logar and its neighbouring province Wardak have become increasingly lawless in recent years, says the BBC's David Loyn, in Kabul. The insecurity threatens the southern fringes of Kabul, and thousands of people have fled to the capital in response, our correspondent says. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-24530600
