Foreign Affairs / Re: S. Palin Stumped In Interview As She Cannot Answer What The Bush Doctrine Is by Dauda(m): 10:55pm On Sep 13, 2008
I lean democratic, however, I think the "Bush doctrine" question is unfair. Bush comes up with stuff everyday that baffles even his loyalists. There is nothing that has being designated as "Bush doctrine" that is universally accepted as such. Palin's intelligence or lack of should not be judged based on the Bush doctrine question. The thought of Palin being the president if McCain is incapacitated is scary. She has no clue on foreign affairs. Her comments on attacking Russia is irresponsible and should be condemned.
Politics / Re: 21bn LNG Scam: FBI Storm Abuja by Dauda(m): 8:04pm On Sep 13, 2008
I hate the fact that the Americans get involved in other countries that they have no business getting involved in. However, we need to rid Nigeria of corrupt politicians and public servants. Burn them all alive.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Signs Nuclear Agreement With Iran by Dauda(m): 7:44pm On Sep 13, 2008
Nuclear energy is important for electricity generation. Joining forces with Iran to get it, is not a smart move.

@ Panafrican, slow down chief. There is evidence out there that the same strain of HIV that those kids have was present in the hospital before the foreign medical team arrived. Also unhygienic and unsafe practices like using the same needle for multiple patients was practiced in the health facility/facilities under investigation as at the time the Belgians arrived. Let's get all the facts before we start hurling blame on any party.
Politics / Re: Re: Atiku Vs Obj/efcc In The Ptdf Scandal by Dauda(m): 8:01pm On Dec 20, 2006
The Atiku report just goes to show that both Atiku and OBJ are criminals. The only reason we are getting to know about all these behind the scene deals is because they fell out with each other. If everything was ok between these two rogues, Nigerians would not have known how much they both plundered and pillaged our national purse. They both deserve to be publicly executed for corruption.
Politics / Re: Nigerians Arrested For Medical Fraud In Houston! by Dauda(m): 4:25am On Dec 16, 2006
How can we accuse the western press of stereotying us as criminals when stuff like this keeps happening everyday?
Politics / Re: Press Release: Gov. Donald Duke Withdraws From The Presidential Race by Dauda(m): 4:22am On Dec 16, 2006
This is not democratic. This zoning thing should go. The man with the most votes should be the president.

Religion / Re: Nigerian Churches And Noise Pollution by Dauda(m): 4:02am On Dec 16, 2006
It's sad that the level of noise that is made is translated into the efficacy of the prayers offered by many religions today. Contemplation, meditation and spending quality and peaceful time in the presence of God remains the best way of talking to God and hearing from him.
Travel / Re: What Do You Think Of America? by Dauda(m): 3:54am On Dec 16, 2006
Jakumo:

The first thing that struck me about America was the sheer size of the place. Stepping outside into the street at JFK airport in New York, the road and the cars plying it looked several times bigger than those I'd left behind in England. When I settled in Southern California those five-lane freeways really caught my imagination, though it was a good while before I got up the nerve to cruise those freeways even after I had acquired my driving license.

And those freeways took me to all the places that made my jaw drop in wonder, from the sun-drenched beaches swarming with bikini clad beauties to the snow-capped San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountains where I learned to ski, and where I enjoyed some of the most exhilarating evenings of my life floating down flood-lit slopes during flurries of dry snow so light that it bollowed off in huge plumes with every turn of the skis.

I learned in the engineering college of the university I attended that Americans can be the most focused academic strivers, who let little distract them from the goal of getting that degree as fast as possible and with the best grades, and I learned that racist attitudes melt away in the face of proven performance whether in an academic or a professional setting. Some of the "top guns" in my engineering classes were of Vietnamese or Chinese descent, but they were greatly respected and consulted by all for their academic determination and awesome brilliance in exams.

And there I suppose lies one of the central pillars of the American mindset. Any individual who works hard to rise above whatever perceived obstacles exist in that society will EARN the respect of their peers, and will surely find their own place in the sun, in the land that I will call the greatest on earth no matter where my travels take me, and for as long as I live.

Well said.

Politics / 2007 Presidential Race - Enters Prof Agboola Gambari by Dauda(m): 3:22am On Aug 18, 2006
Prof Gambari certainly is a very good alternative to the bunch of clownish kleptocrats wanting to be our president come 2007. I know the likes of Utomi, Duke and a few good ones out there are equally good. However, Gambari's experience at the UN will come in handy in maneuvering the tricky terrain of foreign relations.

I feel the pressure to support Ghana based on the fact that I'm African. However, as I look into the crystal ball, I see Ghana crashing by a margin of 4 goals. The gods have spoken.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: World Bank Is Recruiting Africans by Dauda(m): 2:21am On Jun 08, 2006
babadee:

World Bank? and become a smart ass neo colonialist helping to retard African development by making them take loans they can do without? Hell NO!!!!!!!
Screw the world bank and the IMF too!!!!

Babadee, why do you spew so much hatred for the IMF and the world bank? I understand your sentiments, but the world bank and IMF are not solely responsible for the underdevelopment of Africa. They have willing and greedy collaborators in the so called leaders of African nations who continue unashamedly to plunder the resources of Africa. If you qualify for the job please apply and hopefully people like you can make the right decisions when African kleptocrats apply for loans.
Politics / Re: Aid For Africa, Is There Any Justification For The Cancellation Of Our Debts? by Dauda(m): 2:00am On Jun 08, 2006
When I talked about the installation of puppets in Africa, I meant the passive support that the West gave to despotic leaders in Africa that served their purposes, Abacha, Mobutu Sese Seko et al. The West actively participates in removing despotic leaders in South America. There is no such interest in Africa. In reference to OBJ, he certainly is not a puppet of the West. You got me all wrong because I was not talking about slavery. I do not want to dwell on the injustices of the past. Nigeria is at a point where we can make her look good again and that is why I believe the debt cancellation could not have come at a better time. Inasmuch as I don't like OBJ, he is at least trying to fight corruption in his own crooked way and at least a few criminals are facing justice. That is a good start. Except Tunde Idiagbon, there is no other Nigerian leader that I remember that has actively gone after known kleptocrats like OBJ. Whomever comes after OBJ has a point to start from. Also the incoming government would not be bugged down by debt management. And with oil prices at over $70 per barrel, how can we not get it right?

Politics / Re: Aid For Africa, Is There Any Justification For The Cancellation Of Our Debts? by Dauda(m): 11:50pm On Jun 07, 2006
I believe the cancellation of our debts is good. Actually, it is our right. The Paris club, G8 and the London club knew that all the loans they were giving to Nigeria were being siphoned back into the banks in Europe and America. Also I believe there is justification for this cancellation because the colonial powers sowed the seed of failure in all their former colonies by installing and supporting despots to rule African nations, Nigeria inclusive. They set up all these puppets so they can continue to pillage and plunder the resources of africa. It is time for them to pick up the tab.

Beyond this however, it is time for us to take ownership of our destiny and make plans to make our economy strong. There is so much we can blame on the West and colonial powers.
Politics / Re: Donald Duke For 2007 Presidency? by Dauda(m): 11:29pm On Jun 07, 2006
Revolution:

Seun, are you impressed by Obasanjo when he makes a speech? Have you ever seen him make a serious speech without reading every single word at a very boring and slow pace? I watched Bill Clinton deliver an hour long speech without any notes a couple of years ago, his command of world and general knowledge was amazing and he was given a huge standing ovation when he finshed. That is the sort of president I want for Nigeria.

In my view there is no polician in Nigeria better than Duke who can represent the country in an intelligent, articulate and captivating manner.

I actually listened to Obasanjo on BBC sometime ago, inasmuch as I hate to admit it because he is a selfish slowpoke, I was impressed. Donald Duke however is a visionary and proven leader. We need him or someone like him to assume the postion of the captain of this rudderless ship called Nigeria.
